China is working on an ambitious new system that could transform how its vast high-speed rail network operates. The proposed “space railway” concept uses satellites to monitor and control bullet trains in real time, replacing traditional trackside signalling systems. By tracking train positions from space, the system aims to improve safety, reduce infrastructure dependence, and boost efficiency across one of the world’s largest railway networks.
