Australia apologises for 'Thalidomide tragedy', a pill that killed thousands | WION

A morning sickness pill in which thalidomide was an active ingredient in the sedative was distributed among mothers in Australia and worldwide in the 1960s. The pill was later found to cause malformation of limbs, facial features and internal organs in unborn children.
