Strong 7.5 magnitude earthquake hits drake passage in South-America
A powerful 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Drake Passage near South America early Friday, triggering a tsunami precaution alert for the Chilean Antarctic territory. The quake, initially recorded as magnitude 8.0, was later downgraded by the USGS. The epicenter was located over 700 km southeast of Argentina's Ushuaia, at a shallow depth of 11 km.
