<p>The couple— Shannon and Stetson Parker—took photos and a video of the beast and shared it on their Facebook account on October 8.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The video has since gone viral on the social media platform, with many netizens expressing amazement and scepticism.</p>

<p>In their post, Shannon said that they sighted an unspecified creature which they claimed resembled the big creature.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They were celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary and were on a sightseeing tour on the narrow gauge rail line between Durango and Silverton, in the Centennial State's far southwest.</p>

<p>“On Sunday, October 8, 2023, Stetson Tyler and I took the Narrow Gauge train ride from Durango to Silverton. After leaving Silverton and heading back to Durango, I asked Stetson to help me look for elk in the mountains. As we are passing by the mountains, Stetson sees something moving and then says I think it's Bigfoot.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Brandon, the guy sitting next to Stetson on the train grabs his phone and starts recording. Meanwhile, I am trying to get a photo on my camera. Below is the video Brandon @bt92.travels got and the photos I took. Y'all, out of the hundreds of people on the train, three or four of us saw, as Stetson says in the video, the ever-elusive creature Bigfoot! I don't know about y'all but We Believe!!"</p>

<p>Lottery officials said that Wednesday's winner has two payout options, "An annuity, in which the winner receives one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year, or the lump sum option. Choosing the second option will make the cash value amount approximately $756.6 million before taxes".</p>

<p>Tickets worth $1 million -- a player matching five numbers -- were won in five states. There were two winners each in California and Florida, and solo winners in New York, Oklahoma, and Virginia, lottery officials said.</p>

<p>A sealed 2,000-year-old tomb, which had a fresco of Cerberus - Ancient Greek mythology's three-headed dog - was uncovered in Italy.</p>

<p>The archaeologists discovered the burial chamber in Giugliano, a suburb of Naples, which is believed to be around 2,000 years old.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It was discovered on a farmland during an archaeological survey which was done before the maintenance work on the city's water system started.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Previously, a large number of burial sites were found by archaeologists in the same area that likely date from the Roman Republic era (510-31 BC) to the Roman Imperial Age (31 BC – AD 476).</p>

<p>The undiscovered tomb features various frescoes, which are present on its walls and ceilings in largely pristine condition.</p>

<p>In the various frescoes, the most notable mythological figure drawn is that of the three-headed dog, believed to guard the gates of the underworld. Because of this, the burial chamber was named the 'Tomb of Cerburus'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Other mythological figures present in the frescoes were ichthyocentaurs, a centaurine-type sea god which has a human's upper body, the tail of a fish and the lower anterior half and forelegs similar to that of a horse.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The archaeologists discovered the burial chamber after they spotted a wall which was built using an ancient Roman construction technique, which is called opus incertum.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>An unprecedented discovery</strong></h2>

<p>To enter the burial chamber, tiles covering the ceiling opening had to be removed by the archaeologists carefully, which led them to an 'unprecedented' discovery.</p>

<p>"The tomb has frescoed ceilings and walls in perfect condition, with mythological scenes that go all around the room and figurative representations among which, a three-headed dog stands out," stated Mariano Nuzzo, the superintendent of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Naples metropolitan area.&nbsp;</p>

Horseshoe crab's alien-like picture gets Laurent Ballesta Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award 2023

<p>A 104-year-old woman from Chicago was on the cusp of making history. She had recently performed a daring skydive in a bid to make her name etched into the Guinness World Records, making her the oldest-ever woman to perform such a feat.</p>

<p>But before her work could get certified, her fate had other plans.</p>

<p>On Monday morning (Oct 9), Dorothy Hoffner was found dead by staff at Brookdale Lake View—a senior living community.</p>

<p>Hoffner had apparently died in her sleep on Sunday night, her close friend Joe Conant told AP news agency on Tuesday (Oct 10).</p>

<p>"She was indefatigable. She just kept going," he said, adding, "she was not someone who would take naps in the afternoon, or not show up for any function, dinner or anything else. She was always there, fully present. She kept going, always."</p>

<p>On October 1, Hoffner jumped off from a plane from 13,500 feet at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, Illinois, 85 miles southwest of Chicago.</p>

<p>Apparently, this was not the first time she was skydiving. At that time, she was merely 100 years of age.</p>

<p>But her intention was not to break a record, Conant asserted.</p>

<p>Hoffner had so thoroughly enjoyed her first jump that she just wanted to do it again.</p>

<p>Conant said he was working through paperwork to ensure that Guinness World Records certifies Hoffner posthumously as the world's oldest skydiver, but he expects that will take some time.</p>

<p>Beer is the third-most popular drink after water and tea. The globally popular alcoholic drink gets its distinctive taste and smell from hops, a flower, whose quantity and quantity will be affected by climate change, reports The Guardian.</p>

<p>A study published in the journal Nature Communications predicts that until and unless farmers adapt to hotter and drier weather, hop yields in Europe's growing regions will fall by around 4 to 18 per cent by 2050. It also forecasts that the alpha acids in hops — responsible for the taste&nbsp; — will fall by 20-31 per cent.</p>

<p>The US state of Utah has sued the short video format application TikTok. It accused&nbsp;the Chinese-owned app of harming and "exploiting" young children by intentionally making them spend unhealthy amounts of time on the platform.</p>

<p>The suit filed on Tuesday (Oct 10th) is only the latest action challenging the popular app in the United States. Indiana and Arkansas had launched similar lawsuits against the video-sharing platform earlier.</p>

<h2><strong>Compulsion, exploitation and more</strong></h2>

<p>Utah's suit has been filed in the state court. It alleges that videos on TikTok leverage "highly powerful algorithms and manipulative design features — many of which mimic features of slot machines" and claims that as a result of these "manipulative" tactics, young consumers get hooked.</p>

<p>Reuters reports that in the filing, Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes said: "What these children (and their parents) do not know is that TikTok is lying to them about the safety of its app and exploiting them into checking and watching the app compulsively, no matter the terrible effects it has on their mental health, their physical development, their family, and their social life."</p>

<h2><strong>What action is Utah seeking?</strong></h2>

<p>As per Reyes, Utah's investigation into TikTok is ongoing. The Utah Attorney General, as per Reuters, also said that he will next week ask a court to compel TikTok's compliance with investigative subpoenas.</p>

<p>Utah, according to the report, is seeking civil penalties and an injunction that will prohibit TikTok from violating a consumer protection state law which shields them from deceptive business practices.</p>

<p>Responding to the suit, TikTok said that it "has industry-leading safeguards for young people, including an automatic 60-minute time limit for users under 18 and parental controls for teen accounts."</p>

<p>In December, Indiana sued the app. The case is pending in the state court. Arkansas launched its suit in March. The case that also involves Facebook-parent Meta accuses the social media companies of "pushing addictive platforms."</p>

<p>The state of Montana went one step further and banned the use of the app in the state. However, TikTok is seeking to block the ban which takes effect on Jan 1st. A hearing of the lawsuit is scheduled for Thursday (Oct&nbsp;12).</p>

In this complex human existence, our mental health is a thread that weaves through every aspect of our lives. It is both a reflection of our inner strength and the scars we bear as we face the challenges that life presents.</p>

<p>These challenges have become more complex over time. Despite people being more expressive about their feelings and acknowledging the role our mental health plays in our lives, many still continue to suffer in silence. According to the United Nations, mental health problems, such as depression are one of the leading causes of disability.</p>

<p>To spread awareness about this, every year on October 10, the global community observes World Mental Health Day. This provides an opportunity for people and communities to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right.</p>

<p>To gain insights into problems related to mental health, WION talked to Dr Anjhula Mya Bais, a globally lauded international psychology and trauma specialist who has been awarded some of the American Psychological Association's highest citations.</p>

<p>We asked Dr Anjhula, who in 2019 was named World Economic Forum Global Leader, about the impact of "comparison culture" on mental health and how can individuals cultivate healthier attitudes towards their online presence.</p>

<p>She said, "The compare and despair phenomena impact mental health in great ways. It is a distortion of reality, where everyone is 'putting their best foot forward' but really it is smoke and mirrors. Reality is much less glamorous than it appears. People devote untold amounts of time, energy, and negative emotions trying to keep up with, compete or top a fictional reality. Healthy mental approaches mean detoxing from media, uninstalling your apps for three weeks, and purposely curating your social media feeds. You can still follow people to be polite but it doesn't mean you will see their content."<br />

"This could be a very good thing for mental health. The only person to compete with is yourself and aim for incremental improvements whilst being proud of yourself. Better than you were yesterday, less than you will be tomorrow!"</p>

<p>Dr Anjhula, who is currently Chair of the International Board of Amnesty International worldwide and is the first psychologist, the first Indian and the first person from Malaysia to hold this post, also addressed the increasing number of influencer videos showing "signs of anxiety" or other mental health issues on social media.</p>

This provides an opportunity for people and communities to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right. To gain insights into problems related to mental health, WION talked to Dr Anjhula Mya Bais, a globally lauded international psychology and trauma specialist who has been awarded some of the American Psychological Association's highest citations. We asked Dr Anjhula, who in 2019 was named World Economic Forum Global Leader, about the impact of "comparison culture" on mental health and how can individuals cultivate healthier attitudes towards their online presence. She said, "The compare and despair phenomena impact mental health in great ways. It is a distortion of reality, where everyone is 'putting their best foot forward' but really it is smoke and mirrors. <p>An Airbnb guest refused to vacate a Los Angeles property even after staying there for six months and extending her stay by 18 months. The tenant, Elizabeth Hirschhorn was living at Sascha Jovanovic's residence.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Jovanovic, a dentist, lives in a house situated in the Crestwood Hills neighbourhood and rented the guest house on Airbnb. He has rented the&nbsp;house in the past, which is part of his main residence and has been rated five stars by previous Airbnb guests.&nbsp;</p>

<p>What started as a normal lease agreement between a host and a tenant turned ugly after Elizabeth refused to vacate after her lease ended.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The host filed a lawsuit, to which the tenant filed a countersuit in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging the host should pay her back all the money she paid him. The judge has ruled that the host cannot evict the guest.</p>

<h2><strong>What is the entire case?</strong></h2>

<p>In his lawsuit filed in June, Jovanovic alleges Hirschhorn rented the Airbnb from 13 September 2021 to 19 March 2023 and he extended the rental by 24 days for no cost to allow Hirschhorn to find new housing. Jovanovic says he did not extend the rental agreement beyond 12 April 2022.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After a leak in the guest house, Jovanovic sent mould inspectors to check on the unit on 13 April 2022, but Hirschhorn refused to let him in. He alleges she continued to refuse the inspection and even called the police.&nbsp;</p>

She alleges that Jovanovic harassed her and tried to intimidate and coerce her to leave the property. She further alleges the conditions in the house made her ill, saying there was water leaking and mould growth everywhere.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>‘I tried to be a good host’: Jovanovic&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>The grief-stricken dentist and property owner said, “I tried to be a kind host. I had no idea she would become what she has become.” He added, “I can never go into my home and know that I’m safe when a potentially hostile person is living there, I’m thinking about it at all times."</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">A tourist, who had travelled from the United States, was arrested by police for allegedly smashing statues inside the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. The statues seemed to have offended the man’s religious sensibilities.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">As per the police statement, on Thursday evening the officers were called to the site after the visitor intentionally smashed and extensively damaged various sculptures in the museum.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The authorities released the photos in which two sculptures, which were knocked off of pedestals by the visitor, were seen broken into several pieces in the archaeology wing of the museum.</p>

The statue of a griffin was discovered in the northern Negev in 1957 and dated to 210-211 CE.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The Israel Museum stated that only two destroyed artefacts were “ancient Roman statues dating to the 2nd century CE” were featured in the archaeology wing.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Police stated that the 40-year-old man was detained by a museum security guard before police reached the place and arrested him.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The museum also gave the police a photo of the stick they claimed was being carried around the museum by the wandering and may have been used to vandalise the sculptures.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The police questioned the suspect and they plan to request the judge to deny bail to the man.</p>

The Israel Museum stated that only two destroyed artefacts were “ancient Roman statues dating to the 2nd century CE” were featured in the archaeology wing. "If this person had entered the US&nbsp;and had not declared these items, there is a high possibility a person could have contracted a disease from this jewellery and developed serious health issues,” he added.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The agency stated that currently Kenya is affected by Newcastle disease, African swine fever, classical swine fever, foot and mouth disease and swine vesicular disease. Hence, after getting a Veterinary Services Permit, the people are allowed to bring faeces from ruminant animals into the US, said CBP.</p>

<p>In a flabbergasting turn of events, a Scottish man from Glasgow found himself ‘kidnapped’ by his own Electronic Vehicle (EV), as he couldn’t get his car to brake.</p>

<p>The man, identified as 53-year-old Brian Morrison, was trapped inside his runaway car as he navigated red lights and roundabouts. The brand new car apparently stuck at 48 km/h after suffering a “catastrophic malfunction,” Morrison said.</p>

<p>The incident took place on Sunday (Oct 1) at 10pm BST when Morrison was heading home from work. "I realised something was wrong when I was coming up to a roundabout, and went to slow down - but it didn't do it," he said.</p>

<h2><strong>Morrison calls emergency services</strong></h2>

<p>After realising that his runaway car could hit other vehicles and pedestrians on the road, he promptly called emergency services.</p>

<p>"When I dialed 999 [UK emergency services], they sent police to help and put some engineers on the line to try and solve the problem, and they were asking if it was a self-driving car,” Morrison said.</p>

<p>Eventually, three police cars approached his EV and were driving in front and behind.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>How was Morrison rescued?</strong></h2>

<p>Police initially asked Morrison to throw away the electronic key through the window, but this failed to disengage the engine. Then, the cops asked him to press the power button thrice, which also failed to stop the car.</p>

<p>When Ratan Das, 29, took his six-month pregnant wife to a private hospital on Tuesday evening, the doctors told them that her pregnancy had some challenges and they could save either the baby or the mother.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A new satellite has turned into one of the brightest things present in the night sky and has sparked concerns regarding the future of astronomy among scientists.</p>

<p>The bright paths of satellite BlueWalker 3 along with other new satellites are likely to shine as bright as the neighbouring planets in the night sky which will make it difficult for astronomers to observe the universe without streaks of light pollution from such satellites, stated a new study published in the journal <em>Nature</em>.</p>

<p>BlueWalker 3, which is a prototype communications satellite, has a 692-square-foot array which is a large flat surface like a mirror and reflects sunlight back to Earth.</p>

<p>As per the study, the magnitude of the satellite’s peak brightness is 0.4.</p>

<p>"The startling conclusion from our study is that the BlueWalker 3 satellite is one of the brightest things in the sky," said Meredith L. Rawls, co-author of the paper and astronomy research scientist in the Department of Astronomy and DiRAC at the University of Washington, while speaking to Newsweek.</p>

For context, the way magnitudes work is, something that is magnitude 2 is only about 40 percent as bright as something that is magnitude 1. The unaided eye can see objects down to about magnitude 7 from a very dark site. Venus' apparent magnitude in the sky is about -4 (it's extremely bright!),” she added.</p>

<p>The problems arising from BlueWalker and other bright satellites in the night sky are because of the amount of light they are reflecting back to the ground.</p>
