Amid the endless polls and media speculation, a historian with an almost impeccable track record predicting US election results, has predicted that the Democrat candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, will win the November elections.

Allan Lichtman, an American historian, has an almost perfect record predicting once-every-four year's election wins in the country, and this time he says,&nbsp;"Harris will win."

Lichtman, as per AFP, has been predicting since 1984 and of nine elections, his prediction has been wrong only once.&nbsp;

To predict which candidate will grace the White House, Allan Lichtman does not depend on the opinion polls, and instead uses the "13 keys" method.

He relies on 13 true-or-false statements about the current administration.

For instance, one key considers whether the incumbent party has gained or lost seats in recent midterms. Since the Democrats lost the House in 2022, this key is false, giving a slight edge to Republican challenger Donald Trump.

Lichtman's analysis is anything but straightforward. Some factors, such as Biden stepping down, might benefit Trump, but others favour Harris. For example, major policy achievements like the Biden administration's infrastructure and climate legislation count as positives. The departure of independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the lack of major scandals also work in Harris's favour.

He also acknowledged that significant foreign policy developments, like a major peace deal or hostage release in Gaza, could shift the balance in Harris's favour.

"I don't like to speculate, because the devil is in the details, but that could be seen as a big success," he said.

Critics argue that some of Lichtman's criteria, such as defining a "charismatic" leader, are too subjective.

Lichtman, however, says, "We're dealing with human beings. Historians make judgments all the time, and the judgments are very tightly constrained."

Trump targets Kamala Harris’ height in bizarre post ahead of debate

Ahead of the much-awaited September 10 (Tuesday) debate, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Saturday (Sep 7) at a rally in Wisconsin accused his democrat rivals President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of running a "rouge regime".

'Rogue regime': Trump accuses Biden-Harris of importing 'murderers, child predators and serial rapists' to US

The White House has urged Vladimir Putin to 'stop talking' about the US presidential election after the Russian president said he backs Kamala Harris over Donald Trump.&nbsp;

"The only people who should get to determine who the next president of United States is are the American people,"&nbsp;National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters.

"We would greatly appreciate it if Mr Putin would, a) stop talking about our election, and b) stop interfering in it."

Speaking at the&nbsp;Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on Thursday, Putin said he is supporting Harris because of how she&nbsp;“laughs so expressively and infectiously that it means that everything is fine with her”.&nbsp;

"Our ‘favourite,’ if you can call it that, was the current president, Mr [Joe] Biden. But he was removed from the race, and he recommended all his supporters to support Ms Harris. Well, we will do so – we will support her," added Putin.&nbsp;

Both Putin and the moderator were seen smiling as he made the remark which drew applause from the audience.&nbsp;

While US agencies claim that Putin ran a disinformation campaign during the 2016 elections to help Trump's campaign against Hilary Clinton, the Kremlin has denied the accusations.

Similar claims were made during the 2020 presidential elections which Joe Biden won. However, earlier this month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted that there was no Russian disinformation and that the FBI and other agencies forced the social media platforms to censor content.&nbsp;

"That fall, when we saw a New York Post story reporting on corruption allegations involving then-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's family, we sent that story to fact-checkers for review and temporarily demoted it while waiting for a reply," Zuckerberg said.

"It's since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn't have demoted the story."

Meta demoting the story allowed Joe Biden to carry on his presidential campaign unperturbed which in hindsight, may have cost him dearly if the report was allowed to remain at the forefront of the social media platform.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The White House has urged Vladimir Putin to 'stop talking' about the US presidential election after the Russian president said he backs Kamala Harris over Donald Trump. ‘Stop talking...’: Putin backs Kamala Harris, White House tells him not to interfere in US elections

The United States indicts two employees of Russia's RT news and imposes sanctions on top editors of the state-funded news outlet, accusing them of seeking to influence the 2024 US presidential election.

White House: Putin was aware of Russian election interference

A federal judge on Tuesday (Sep 3) ordered former US president and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to cease using music created by the late Isaac Hayes at his campaign events.&nbsp;

The judge ordered the Trump campaign to stop using Hayes' song "Hold On, I'm Coming". However, they have not been ordered to take down existing videos featuring the music.

The ruling came after objections from Isaac Hayes III, son of the renowned musician, who strongly opposed Trump's use of his father's work.

Speaking outside the Richard B. Russell Federal Courthouse, Isaac Hayes III asserted, "We have to take a stand that we want to separate ourselves from someone with Donald Trump's character."

The late musician's son emphasised that the decision was motivated by concerns over Trump's character and not political differences.

"This is not a political issue, this is a character issue," he said.

"I want this to serve as an opportunity for other artists to come forward that don't want their music used by Donald Trump or other political entities and continue to fight for music artists' rights and copyright," he added.

New York attorney Ronald Coleman, who represented Trump and his campaign in the case, implied uncertainty over the Hayes family's ownership of the music rights.&nbsp;

Over the years, several prominent musicians and their representatives have voiced objections, including the late Tom Petty, Foo Fighters, British singer Adele, the rock band R.E.M, Celine Dion and most recently the Swedish pop group ABBA.

The legendary group ABBA last month announced that it has "recently discovered the unauthorised use of their music and videos at a Trump event through videos that appeared online," and has asked for prompt "removal and deletion of such content."

American rock band Foo Fighters has also&nbsp;protested against Trump's use of their song, "My Hero" at a recent Arizona campaign on August 23. Clapping back, the rock band announced that royalty earnings from the song will be donated to Kamala Harris' campaign.

In the 2019 interview, Harris called for the shutdown of Trump's Twitter account because of its influence on society, including its role in spreading harmful narratives.&nbsp;

Citing the El Paso shooter’s manifesto as an example, she argued that Trump's rhetoric had real-world consequences.

"When you're talking about Donald Trump, he has 65 million Twitter followers, he has proven himself to be willing to obstruct justice – just ask Bob Mueller. You can look at the manifesto from the shooter in El Paso to know that what Donald Trump says on Twitter impacts peoples' perceptions about what they should and should not do," she said.

She then said Trump's account "should be taken down" for violating the site's terms of service.

Harris also spoke of regulating social media platforms so that the words of popular figures like Trump can't become a bad influence on millions of users.

"And the bottom line is that you can’t say that you have one rule for Facebook and you have a different rule for Twitter. The same rule has to apply, which is that there has to be a responsibility that is placed on these social media sites to understand their power," she said.

'Blood on their hands': Donald Trump blames 'crooked' Biden, 'comrade' Harris for Gaza hostage killings

US Vice President Kamala Harris has openly slammed her political rival Donald Trump for using footage from his visit to Arlington National Cemetery in a campaign video, calling it "a political stunt".

Harris emphasised the "sacred" nature of the cemetery, where fallen American soldiers are laid to rest, and said it should not be used for political purposes.&nbsp;

Trump's visit to the graves of 13 service members, killed during the 2021 US withdrawal from Afghanistan, was meant as a campaign boost but has instead sparked backlash, particularly after footage from the event was posted by his campaign.

US Vice President Kamala Harris has openly slammed her political rival Donald Trump for using footage from his visit to Arlington National Cemetery in a campaign video, calling it "a political stunt".

US Vice President Kamala Harris has openly slammed her political rival Donald Trump for using footage from his visit to Arlington National Cemetery in a campaign video, calling it "a political stunt". Harris emphasised the "sacred" nature of the cemetery, where fallen American soldiers are laid to rest, and said it should not be used for political purposes. Trump's visit to the graves of 13 service members, killed during the 2021 US withdrawal from Afghanistan, was meant as a campaign boost but has instead sparked backlash, particularly after footage from the event was posted by his campaign. What did Kamala Harris say? "Let me be clear: the former president disrespected sacred ground, all for the sake of a political stunt," said the Democratic Party presidential candidate Harris. Harris also highlighted Trump's history of derogatory comments about military service members, referencing his controversial remarks about veterans such as Senator John McCain and fallen World War I soldiers. US Elections 2024: Kamala Harris says Americans ready to turn the page on Trump

In a recent revelation, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has alleged that the Biden administration exerted undue pressure on the company to censor Covid-19-related content. On August 27, 2024, Zuckerberg claimed that the White House and other senior officials from the Biden administration repeatedly urged Meta to remove certain content, including humour and satire, related to the pandemic, as detailed in a report by CNBC.&nbsp;

Zuckerberg's comments were made in a letter addressed to the House Judiciary Committee, led by Republican Jim Jordan. In the letter, Zuckerberg acknowledged that while Meta had the ultimate authority to decide which content to remove, he believed the government's influence was inappropriate. "In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content," Zuckerberg wrote. He added, "I regret that we were not more outspoken about it."&nbsp;

The White House has responded by stating that their actions were intended to ensure public health and safety during a critical time. "When confronted with a deadly pandemic, this Administration encouraged responsible actions to protect public health and safety," a White House spokesperson told Politico. The statement emphasized that the administration's goal was for technology companies to consider the impact of their actions on the American people, while still making independent decisions.&nbsp;

This controversy highlights ongoing debates about the extent of government influence over social media platforms. In August 2021, Meta reported removing over 20 million COVID-19-related posts for violating its content policies across Facebook and Instagram. The Biden administration had previously criticized social media platforms for not doing enough to combat misinformation about the virus.&nbsp;

Zuckerberg's letter adds to the broader discussion on the role of tech companies in content moderation and the pressures they face from various stakeholders. As the debate continues, Zuckerberg has pledged that Meta will be more cautious and assertive in maintaining its content standards in the future.&nbsp;

Kamala Harris' historic haul: Democratic Party nominee raises over $540 million, mostly from first-time donors

Kamala Harris is expected to make her first appearance but first incumbent President Joe Biden will deliver a primetime speech. Biden is set to pass the torch to Harris in what is likely to be a bittersweet convention farewell.

US Elections 2024: Biden to pass torch to Harris in bittersweet farewell in Chicago

Less than a month after stepping up as the Democratic presidential candidate, US Vice President Kamala Harris is gaining momentum in the race, moving ahead in polls and attracting large crowds at rallies across the United States. This week, the presumptive presidential candidate for the Democratic Party also landed on the cover of Time Magazine.&nbsp;

Kamala Harris' TIME cover has earned itself an unlikely admirer: Donald Trump, her political rival.

In his recent August 12 interview with Elon Musk on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Trump described Harris as a "beautiful woman".

So far, so good, right? What can be construed as problematic is that Trump did not stop there. The Republican widely known for his anti-immigrant and at times blatantly racist comments went on to compare Harris' beauty with his wife Melania Trump.

<h2 bis_size="{&quot;x&quot;:7,&quot;y&quot;:248,&quot;w&quot;:649,&quot;h&quot;:26,&quot;abs_x&quot;:40,&quot;abs_y&quot;:1998}">Was Trump whitewashing Kamala Harris?</h2>

Just a few days back, Donald Trump questioned Kamala Harris's racial identity as a Black woman.

In a controversial interaction with African American journalists in Chicago on Jul&nbsp;31, former President Trump suggested that Kamala Harris had "turned Black" for political purposes.&nbsp;

He falsely claimed Kamala had initially identified as Indian, but "all of a sudden, she made a turn, and she became a Black person."

Now, speaking to Musk, he praised Harris' beauty, comparing her to his wife, former First Lady Melania Trump.&nbsp;

"She looks like the most beautiful actress ever to live," Trump remarked, seemingly downplaying her racial identity by comparing her to a different standard of beauty.&nbsp;

"It was a drawing, and actually, she looked very much like a great first lady, Melania," he said.

His comment can be seen merely as superficial praise. However, Trump also said that, "She didn't look like Kamala," which can also be seen as an attempt to whitewash Kamala Harris' identity as a person of colour and a try to box her into the traditional, Eurocentric standards of beauty.

"But of course, she's a beautiful woman, so we'll leave it at that," added Trump.

Despite this compliment, Trump as usual didn't hold back on criticising Harris and her campaign.&nbsp;

He accused the media of giving Harris a "free ride" and not scrutinising her views adequately since she became the Democratic candidate. He also took a jab at Harris for avoiding interviews, a move that has been seized upon by Republicans as a sign of reluctance to engage with the media.

Trump's criticisms extended beyond Harris' media appearances. In the same conversation with Musk, he accused Harris of attempting to mimic his policies, specifically citing her recent pledge to eliminate tax on tips—a policy Trump had previously proposed. He further claimed that Harris was trying to position herself as "more Trump than Trump," a tactic he dismissed as insincere.

The interview, which was delayed due to a reported cyberattack on X, also saw Trump veer into discussions on global warming, nuclear proliferation, and even the idea of moving to Venezuela if he loses the upcoming election.

Donald Trump whitewashes Kamala Harris? Calls her ‘beautiful’ like wife Melania

The White House has approved $20 billion in fighter jets and other military equipment for Israel as the ongoing war with Gaza ceases to end with Iran threatening another conflict.&nbsp;

According to the Pentagon, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken approved the sale of more than 50 F-15 jets and equipment worth nearly $19 billion including $774 million in tank cartridges, $60 million in explosive mortar cartridges and army vehicles worth $583 million. However, the deliveries of the said equipment would not begin for years.&nbsp;

White House approves $20 billion weapons package for Israel amid Iran war threat

In his first televised interview after stepping back from the 2024 presidential race, President Joe Biden has issued a stark warning about Republican candidate Donald Trump, labelling him "a genuine danger to American security."

During an interview with CBS News, that aired on Sunday, Biden expressed deep concern over the potential consequences of a Trump victory. "Mark my words, if he wins… this election, watch what happens," Biden cautioned.

Biden emphasised the significance of the current global landscape, stating, "We're at an inflection point in world history. We really are… and democracy is the key."

Joe Biden warns of ‘bloodbath’, calls Donald Trump a ‘genuine danger’ to democracy: ‘Mark my words...’

Kamala Harris, the current US Vice President and the presumptive Democratic Party nominee as per reports, is set to meet with top contenders for her running mate on Sunday (August 4).&nbsp;

As per CBS News, among those being interviewed are Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, both of whom are travelling to Washington for face-to-face discussions with Harris.

<h2>Who all is in the race?</h2>

Citing sources, the publication reports that like Joe Biden, Harris is also considering other candidates for the role, both in person and virtually. However, some of these individuals have not yet been publicly identified.&nbsp;

Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona is also said to be in the race and scheduled to meet Harris at her residence, reported New York Times, citing people who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

During his presidential campaign in 2020, Biden while selecting his vice-presidential running mate, conducted virtual meetings due to the pandemic, alongside in-person interviews.

<h2>Josh Shapiro</h2>

Governor Shapiro, who boasts a 60 per cent approval rating according to a recent Quinnipiac poll, is a highly regarded figure in Pennsylvania.&nbsp;

He has been elected statewide three times—twice as Attorney General and once as Governor.&nbsp;

Shapiro's tenure has been marked by his oversight of significant investigations into widespread sexual abuse by Catholic priests and the subsequent cover-ups.

<h2>Tim Walz</h2>

Governor Walz, currently serving his second term, is also noted for his high approval ratings.&nbsp;

As a former congressman, Walz has advanced several progressive policies, including safeguarding abortion access, legalising recreational marijuana, providing free school meals to all kids, restricting gun access, and expanding paid family leave.&nbsp;

<h2>Other potential candidates</h2>

As per an Associated Press report citing sources familiar with the selection process, in addition to Walz and Shapiro, VP Harris is also interviewing Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

President Biden commented on Friday that he has discussed the vice-presidential pick with Harris but refrained from providing specific advice on the qualities she should seek in a candidate.&nbsp;

"I'll let her work that out," Biden said when asked about the criteria for the selection.

Harris is expected to announce her vice-presidential choice by Tuesday (August 6). Despite already securing a majority of pledged and automatic delegates for the Democratic nomination, Harris' formal nomination process remains open until Monday.

President Donald...Duck?: Elon Musk claims Google biased against Trump, interfering in US Elections

The Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris presidential race is heating up. On Saturday, the two political rivals traded barbs from afar, calling each other names. While Harris called Donald Trump "just plain weird," Trump in exchange painted her as an "evil," and "unhinged" person.

This war of words marked a tumultuous week in the 2024 presidential race.

<h2>'He said- she said'</h2>

Harris' comments, as per Reuters, came just a few days after she ascended to the top of the presidential nominee list after being backed by US President Joe Biden.

During a private fundraiser headlined by singer-songwriter James Taylor, Harris criticised Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance's rhetoric was "just plain weird."&nbsp;

Harris called herself an "underdog," and said, "We are the underdogs in this race, but this is a people-powered campaign."

"Donald Trump has been resorting to some wild lies about my record. And some of what he and his running mate are saying, well, it's just plain weird," she said.

The phrase 'weird' as per the report represents a new Democratic strategy, with the Harris campaign portraying Trump as "old and quite weird."

At the fundraiser, Harris, 59, contrasted her prosecutorial background with Trump's criminal record, framing her campaign as forward-looking in contrast to what she termed 'felon' Trump's desire to return the country to a "dark past."

Hours later, Trump retaliated at a rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota, accusing Harris of wanting to "destroy the country" and attacking her stance on public safety and immigration. Trump, 78, described Harris as "even worse" than Biden, declaring that her presidency would end the American dream.

"If a crazy liberal like Kamala Harris gets in, the American dream is dead," Trump said.

Trump's speech was filled with grievances and baseless claims about election fraud.

Harris' candidacy has revitalised the Democratic campaign, which had struggled with doubts about Biden's viability.

Since Biden's exit, Harris has raised over $100 million, including $1.4 million at Saturday's fundraiser attended by around 800 supporters.&nbsp;

Trump vs Harris: From 'evil' to 'just plain weird' the Republican vs Democrat war of words heat up

Kamala Harris's campaign has raised a whopping $200 million after she emerged as the frontrunner for the Democrat presidential nominee last week. The donations have skyrocketed after President Joe Biden dropped his re-election bid and endorsed Harris as the presidential candidate.&nbsp;

As of Sunday (Jul 28), the bulk of donations (66 per cent) came from first-time contributors in the 2024 election cycle.&nbsp;Additionally, over 170,000 volunteers have also signed up to help the Harris campaign which has only 100 days to take on rival, Donald Trump.&nbsp;

On Saturday (Jul 27), Haris campaigned in Pittsfield, Massachusettes where the fundraiser managed to raise approximately $1,4 million, shattering the earlier estimates of $400,000 by a countrymile.&nbsp;

“The momentum and energy for Vice President Harris is real — and so are the fundamentals of this race: this election will be very close and decided by a small number of voters in just a few states,” wrote Michael Tyler, Harris's campaign communications director.&nbsp;

While most Republicans had predicted Harris to be a weak candidate in front of Trump, her popularity in recent days has given a major scare to the GOP lawmakers.&nbsp;

Trump has also resorted to making personal jibes against the vice president, suggesting that the former president knew about the increasing threat.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“She was a bum three weeks ago.&nbsp;She was a bum, a failed vice president," said Trump on Friday (Jul 26).&nbsp;

Trump also urged the Christian voters to come out and vote for him in large numbers, adding&nbsp;they wouldn't have to do it again as he would 'fix' the system after coming to power.

“Christians, get out and vote. Just this time.&nbsp;You won’t have to do it anymore, you know what? Four more years, it’ll be fixed, it’ll be fine, you won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians," said the Republican presidential nominee.&nbsp;

The latest&nbsp;Wall Street Journal&nbsp;poll showed Harris and Trump neck-and-neck at 49 per cent and 47 per cent in the two-way presidential battle. At the beginning&nbsp;of the month, Trump had a six-point lead against Joe&nbsp;Biden before the US president dropped his re-election bid and endorsed Harris.

Donald Trump, on Wednesday (July 25) launched a volley of attacks against US Vice President Kamala Harris in his first rally since she became the de facto Democratic Party nominee for November's election.

Calling her a "radical left lunatic" Trump, speaking at the rally in North Carolina, claimed that the presumptive nominee for the Democratic presidential ticket favours the "execution" of babies.

"If Kamala Harris gets in, she would be the most radical, far left extremist ever to occupy the White House times ten. There's never been a lunatic like this in the White House, and we've had some bad ones."

<h2>Baby 'execution,' 'lunatic' and more: Trump targets Harris</h2>

Describing Kamala Harris as the "ultra liberal driving force behind every single Biden catastrophe," Trump slammed her for her pro-abortion stance.

He claimed that Harris wanted "abortions in the eighth and ninth month of pregnancy," as well as "right up until birth and even after birth."

Trump described this as "The execution of a baby."

"She is a radical left lunatic who will destroy our country," and&nbsp;"We're not going to let that happen," he told the crowd.

Accusing her of covering up Joe Biden's "mental unfitness," he said that Democratic Party bosses were behind the incumbent US President's decision to step down from the election race.

"So now they bring in this one who's worse than him. She's worse than him because he's a fake liberal. You know, he wasn't that liberal. He was fake. She's a real liberal. She really is a real liberal. She's much worse than him."

US President Joe Biden, in his first public address after dropping out of the 2024 US election, addressed the nation from the Oval Office on Wednesday (July 25) and said&nbsp;he's passing the&nbsp;torch to the new generation.

Reiterating his support for 'tough' and 'capable'&nbsp;Kamala Harris as the new Democratic Party Presidential candidate nominee, Biden said, "The Republic is in your hands".

"She's experienced, she's tough, she's capable. She's been an incredible partner to me and a leader for our country. Now, the choice is up to you, the American people," he said.

<h2>Biden tells America why he quit the election race</h2>

Speaking to the&nbsp;American public, Biden said he quit the election race to "unite his party".

Addressing the popular debate around his age, the 81-year-old leader said,&nbsp;"There is a time and a place for long years of experience in public life. There's also a time and a place for new voices, fresh voices, yes, younger voices."

Biden said that the "defence of democracy, which is at stake, is more important than any title."

"I have decided the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. That is the best way to unite our nation."

Touting the achievements of his term, Joe Biden said that he is the first US president who can say that America is presently not at war anywhere.

<h2>Why was the speech significant?</h2>

The July 25 speech was significant for two reasons:

Number one - This was possibly the last Oval Office speech of&nbsp;Joe Biden, the 46th and current President of the United States.

Number two - Joe Biden's first public speech since&nbsp;announcing his withdrawal from the presidential elections, used the Oval Office of the White House, a powerfully symbolic setting used by US presidents for moments of grave historical importance

Before this, President Joe Biden used the Oval Office thrice: in October 2023, to seek additional funding for war-torn Ukraine;&nbsp;in June 2023, wrapping up the debt ceiling drama that had Washington and the financial markets on tenterhooks for weeks, and recently on Sunday (Jul 14) to ask Americans to cool down after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.&nbsp;

<h2>Did Biden mention Trump?</h2>

While Biden did not mention Republican presidential nominee and political rival Donald Trump by name, he did refer to him as a 'tyrant' in a thinly veiled reference.

Calling&nbsp;the United States the "most powerful idea," in world history, the incumbent US president&nbsp;in his televised speech from the Oval Office said&nbsp;"America's an idea, an idea stronger than any army, bigger than any ocean, more powerful than any dictator or tyrant."

He warned the American public that&nbsp;democracy is at stake in the November election. Rejecting&nbsp;accusations that he will be a lame duck for the rest of his one-term presidency, he said,&nbsp;"Over the next six months I will be focused on doing my job as president,"&nbsp;adding that he would keep trying to lower costs for families and defend freedoms including the right to abortion.

Joe Biden's Oval Office address: Endorses Kamala Harris, tells Americans 'Republic is in your hands'

Donald Trump's lawyers on Monday (July 22) asked a New York appeals court to throw out the $454 million judgment against the Republican presidential nominee for US Elections 2024. They argue that the monetary policy was unconstitutional and that most of the case&nbsp;should be barred because of the time passed since the alleged conduct.

"The award of $464 million in a case with no victims, no proven injuries, and no losses is not remotely defensible," wrote Trump's lawyers. &nbsp;

They argued that "the 'actual harm inflicted' is nil," and thus.&nbsp;"any punitive award would result in a ratio that is virtually infinite. The award of $464 million in a case with no victims, no proven injuries, and no losses is not remotely defensible."

Next month, the New York attorney general's office will present their opposition papers. As early as September, the appeals court could take up the case.

His lawyers argue that the judge made an error in not throwing out most of the case after the appeals court ruled last year, before the civil trial, that certain behaviour was outside the legal time limit.

According to them, Trump should have been dismissed as a defendant and that if the statute of limitations was enforced, roughly $350 million of the judgment would be wiped out. Previously, before the trial, a state appeal had dismissed Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump as a co-defendant in the case.

The loans for the Old Post Office building and the 40 Wall Street building were the only timely claims mentioned in the attorney general's complaint, they wrote.

"Applying the correct statute of limitations eliminates $350,980,057 of the $464,576,229 judgment for Appellants bound by the Tolling Agreement, and it eliminates all of the judgment for those not bound by the Tolling Agreement, including the Trust and the individual Appellant," they contend.

However, as per Enrogon&nbsp;ruling from before the trial, even&nbsp;if the loans were closed before the 2014 statute of limitations, fraudulent financial statements that were subsequently issued count as separate fraudulent acts.

"The monetary award is a punitive penalty imposed for retributive and deterrent purposes. It is both grossly disproportional under the Eighth Amendment’s Excessive Fines Clause and grossly excessive under the Due Process Clauses."

As per them, the Judge ordered Trump to pay too much in disgorgement–or the return of ill-gotten gains–for the sale proceeds of the Old Post Office and Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point.

Trump's attorneys argued that Engoron failed to consider the investments made by Trump's company in the properties when ordering the full proceeds to be paid back instead of calculating just the net profit.

In the filing, Trump's lawyers claim that Engoron made uninformed judgments about the valuations of Trump's properties.

Taking issue with&nbsp;Engoron’s judgment opinion that Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort was valued at $18 million, they said "Supreme Court engaged in a series of erroneous valuations of President Trump’s properties, including valuing Mar-a-Lago at $18 to $27.6 million, a tiny fraction of its obvious value, and these errors infected the subsequent trial".

Calling for a "complete reversal" of the judgment,&nbsp;Trump attorney Chris Kise said&nbsp;"Such an outrageous miscarriage of justice is profoundly un-American, and a complete reversal is the only means available to restore public confidence in the integrity of the New York judicial system."

Thomas Matthew Crooks' alma mater, the Bethel Park High School, has denied allegations that the gunman, who attempted to assassinate former US President Donald Trump, was relentlessly bullied. It also refuted to confirm that Crooks was rejected from the school's rifle team due to poor aim.

The statement, released on Saturday (Jul&nbsp;20) follows Crooks' dramatic assassination attempt on July 13. Perched on the roof of a bottle manufacturing plant in Butler County, Pennsylvania, Crooks tried to shoot Trump during a rally.&nbsp;

Bethel Park High School asserted that their records do not support claims of Crooks being bullied.&nbsp;

As per The Guardian reports, the school said that it was "a painful misconception that Thomas Crooks was relentlessly bullied in school."

"According to our records, Mr Crooks excelled academically, regularly attended school and had no disciplinary incidents, including those related to bullying," the school stated.&nbsp;

They described Crooks as a "quiet, bright young man" who "generally got along with his teachers and classmates".

It also said that the school's rifle team coach "does not recall meeting" Trump's attacker.

"It is possible that Crooks informally attended a practice, took a shot and never returned," said the school adding, "We don't have any record of that happening".

<h2>Former students' allegations</h2>

This statement contrasts with testimonies from Crooks' former schoolmates. Jason Kohler, a 21-year-old alum, recounted how Crooks’ attire and solitary lunches marked him as a "loner" and an "outcast," leading to significant bullying.&nbsp;

Another former student, Jameson Myers, told ABC News that Crooks' poor shooting skills barred him from joining the school rifle team, a claim echoed by another schoolmate Jameson Murphy, who told the New York Post that Crooks was a "comically bad shot."

<h2>Why did Crooks try to kill Trump?</h2>

Authorities have yet to determine Crooks’ motive. Investigations reveal that Crooks had legally obtained the rifle from his father and meticulously planned the assassination attempt. This included purchasing ammunition on the day of the shooting and using a drone to survey the rally site.
