If reports are to be believed,&nbsp;Israel's spies and military commanders held late-night meetings to discuss a likely attack by Hamas and the threat being faced by the Supernova music festival, just hours before the assault was carried out on October 7.&nbsp;

As per the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the first meeting was held close to midnight and the second around 3 am (local time). However, those who attended the meetings concluded that a training exercise was being held by Hamas on the Gaza border and that they were not preparing for a terror attack.&nbsp;

The warnings weren't taken as seriously and the Israeli troops were asked to increase drone surveillance flights and a unit known as “Team Tequila” - &nbsp;which was trained specifically to prevent abductions - was deployed to Nahal Oz, a kibbutz close to the border with Gaza. The officials also alerted two commando teams about the possibility of an incursion.

However, no warnings were given to the organisers of the Supernova festival which was being held near Kibbutz Re’im, just three miles from Gaza, where eventually 360 people were killed and around 40 were taken hostage.

The festival was organised in close cooperation with the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) and was approved by the northern brigade of the Gaza division.

The army units on duty were not aware of the festival which was being held near the border.

When the organisers of the event called the IDF on the morning of the massacre, they were asked to fend for themselves, according to the report.&nbsp;

The IDF reached the site of the festival by around 3 pm (local time) and by then, the surviving festivalgoers had fled or played dead for hours.

However, with the forecast of a typhoon ahead which is likely to hit most of South Korea, which includes the campsite, the Jamboree was forced to end early. 
 
"The World Organisation of the Scout Movement received confirmation this morning from the Government of the Republic of Korea that due to the expected impact of Typhoon Khanun, an early departure will be planned for all participants," said the scout body, in a statement.

On Monday, South Korea's presidential office said that President Yoon Suk Yeol was informed about the contingency plan for the Jamboree in the wake of the typhoon approaching, hinting that the scouts are likely to stay in Seoul for the remainder of their stay. 
 
"By 'contingency plan', it means the scouts' accommodation and the remaining schedule can be moved to the metropolitan area including Seoul," said Yoon's office, in a statement. 
 
It was reported by the Yonhap news agency that all afternoon activities were cancelled and the participants will start leaving the campsite on Tuesday morning.

The United Kingdom Health Security Agency has warned London of a major measles outbreak which could be alarming for tourists considering a visit to London this summer. A tornado reached near Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Wednesday (July 12) as hundreds of flights were disrupted. Passengers were forced to take shelter.

The National Weather Service in Chicago confirmed the presence of a tornado on the ground around 7 pm local time.

“This tornado has been touching the ground intermittently so far and is moving east. There are additional circulations along the line south of O’Hare. Seek shelter if in the warned area,” it stated.&nbsp;

The Federal Aviation Administration grounded all departures of commercial flights at Midway and O’Hare airports.

As per FlightAware, more than 300 flights in and out of O’Hare and also 32 in and out of Midway were cancelled, with hundreds of people sheltered at O’Hare.

The video from TV stations showed hundreds of people huddled in an O’Hare concourse.&nbsp;

Kevin Bargnes, director of communications for O’Hare and Chicago Midway International Airport, told WGN-TV Wednesday night that no damage was reported at either airport.

Now, after the recipient of Rohan's liver began experiencing seizures, tests revealed that protein shakes triggered a rare genetic disease. This has now prompted a coroner to call for health warnings on supermarket-bought protein shakes.&nbsp;

<h2>Rohan's death and the rare genetic disease</h2>

As per a DailyMail report, the teenager fell ill on August 15, 2020, after consuming the shake, and passed away three days later at West Middlesex Hospital.&nbsp;

Initially, the cause of his death, a rare genetic disease called ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC) deficiency, could not be determined as his organs were donated for transplantation before the underlying cause of his sudden illness was discovered.

Several months later, when the recipient of Rohan's liver began experiencing seizures, a biopsy was conducted on the organ, revealing that Rohan had OTC deficiency, an extremely rare genetic disorder that falls under the category of urea cycle disorders.&nbsp;

<h2>What is OTC deficiency?</h2>

It is a type of urea cycle disorder, a group of genetic disorders characterised by a deficiency in one of the six enzymes responsible for removing ammonia from the bloodstream.&nbsp;It is characterised by symptoms such as vomiting, refusal to eat, lethargy, and coma.

The inability to break down ammonia can lead to its accumulation in the bloodstream, causing potentially lethal levels, particularly when triggered by a protein load. OTC deficiency is incredibly rare, estimated to affect only one in 50,000 to 80,000 individuals.

<h2>Health warning is necessary, says coroner</h2>

On Tuesday, coroner Tom Osborne in his preliminary view expressed the need for health warnings on protein shake packaging.

As per DailyMail, he said: "Concerning these protein drinks, my preliminary view about them is that I ought to write to one of the regulatory authorities that some sort of warning ought to be put on the packaging of these drinks because, although OTC is a rare condition, it can have harmful effects if someone drinks and it causes a protein spike."

Professor Finbar O'Callaghan, a specialist in pediatric neurology at the Institute of Child Health, University College London, supported the call for intervention, and said that it can be "potentially life-saving".

<h2>The inquiry into Rohan's death and missed opportunities</h2>

During the inquest into the tragic death of Rohan Godhania, it was revealed that his organ was approved for transplantation despite the cause of death not being determined at that time. This fatal mistake led to the recipient of Rohan's organ developing a serious illness and prompted&nbsp;a connection to be made between the two cases.

An independent expert identified the link between the teen's death and the organ recipient's seizures after the latter was hospitalised with similar seizure symptoms.

Lawyers representing Rohan's family raised concerns about missed opportunities to screen him for ammonia levels before his death, despite it being a recommended procedure. They suggested that ammonia testing could have revealed his urea cycle disorder.

Professor O'Callaghan, speaking at the inquest, supported the lawyers' suggestion and said that if an ammonia test had been conducted when Rohan was admitted to the hospital, it was "possible" that he would have survived.&nbsp;

He also criticised the decision made by a specialist hospital, categorised as a tertiary centre, to reject the referral for Rohan to their pediatric neurological team based on the classification of his age by West Middlesex Hospital as an adult patient.

<h2>Adult patient&nbsp;or a pediatric one?</h2>

The professor argued that Rohan, like other patients his age across the country, had fallen into a gap between pediatric and adult care, resulting in a lack of quality care.&nbsp;"I am critical of the fact that if he (Rohan) goes down that adult pathway, he was refused admission to the tertiary hospital because he was 16 years of age."

According to Professor O'Callaghan, if Rohan had been treated as a pediatric patient, he would likely have received a prompt and accurate diagnosis and experienced a smoother healthcare journey.

"If a hospital doesn't have an adequate pathway for treatment, say if it cannot guarantee that 16-year-olds get accepted at the tertiary hospital, then that's a big problem," he added.

He further expressed his disapproval of the situation where a patient's admission to a hospital becomes a subject of discussion, stressing that there should not be debates regarding whether a patient should be admitted to a pediatric hospital or an adult unit.

"This is a problem within our health service. The discussion goes on far too frequently around the country and the danger is that when there is uncertainty or debate, then the patient suffers, as I think has happened in this case," he remarked.

<h2>Dangers of protein powders</h2>

A 2022 report by&nbsp;the Clean Label Project, a non-profit organisation, found the presence of toxins in protein powders. The study which involved the screening of 134 protein powder products for 130 different types of toxins revealed that many of the tested protein powders were found to contain various contaminants, including heavy metals like lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury, as well as bisphenol-A (BPA) and pesticides. These contaminants have been linked to the development of cancer and other health conditions.

India has been placed on a watchlist with a negative outlook by a global aviation leasing watchdog, which said it had failed to comply with international aircraft repossession norms after airline Go First was granted bankruptcy protection.

The move by the Aviation Working Group, a UK-based entity that monitors leasing and financing laws, could raise leasing costs for Indian airlines and hurt lessors' confidence just as the world’s third-largest domestic market witness record growth.

Such an outlook will "have a direct and material impact on future financing and leases to Indian airlines", AWG told Go First in a letter copied to India's aviation minister.

Go Airlines (India) Ltd filed for bankruptcy protection last week, blaming "faulty" Pratt &amp; Whitney engines for the grounding of about half its 54 Airbus A320neos. Pratt, part of Raytheon Technologies, says the claims are without evidence and divert attention from the airline's financial woes.

In granting protection, the Indian tribunal ordered a freeze on Go First's assets even though some lessors had already terminated leases and placed requests with the aviation regulator to repossess more than 40 planes.

Failure to process the applications before the freeze was imposed, "results in a negative outlook", AWG said in the notice.

India's aviation ministry and regulator were not immediately available to comment.

<h2>TREATY TEST</h2>

The dispute comes as Indian air travel is booming and hundreds of new jets have been ordered by local carriers, who depend heavily on foreign lessors to finance plane purchases.

It is also the latest test of a 2001 treaty designed to smooth the growth of aviation by protecting repossession rights, which hit headlines when Russia blocked the repossession of jets in retaliation over Western Ukraine-related sanctions last year.

India has ratified the so-called Cape Town Convention but has yet to pass a law resolving conflicts with the country's insolvency and bankruptcy code, which is backed by parliament.

"Given (this), implementation of the Convention will run into challenges when read with the bankruptcy laws," said Syed Tamjeed Ahmad, co-founder of aviation law firm Spaviatech Law.

Go First's lessors include SMBC Aviation, CDB Aviation's GY Aviation Leasing, Jackson Square Aviation and BOC Aviation.

Aviation watchdog puts India on watchlist after Go First-Pratt & Whitney tiff over jets

A major "do not drive" warning from BMW is in effect for nearly 90,000 cars&nbsp;manufactured&nbsp; between the 2000 and 2006 model years. The vehicles involved in the campaign were subject to a Takata driver-side airbag inflator recall, but they haven't yet been fixed, reports&nbsp;Bloomberg.&nbsp;

The list of cars that have been advised to be kept&nbsp;parked until they've been repaired includes the E46-generation 3 Series&nbsp;built between 2002 and 2006, the E39-generation 5 Series built from 2000 to 2003, and the E53-generation&nbsp;X5&nbsp;built between 2000 and 2004.

In late 2019, Aves collected samples of snow from the Ross Ice Shelf to look whether microplastics were transferred from the atmosphere into the snow. “We were optimistic that she wouldn’t find any microplastics in such a pristine and remote location,” Revell said. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Samples were also collected by Aves from Scott Base and McMurdo Station roadways, where microplastics were found previously. So, “she’d have at least some microplastics to study,” Revell said. &nbsp;

There seems to be a 50:50 chance for the world to warm up by over 1.5C in the next five years, said researchers at UK Met Office, which is the national meteorological service of the nation. &nbsp;

The years between 2022 and 2026 will see record warmest years, the researchers said. &nbsp;

At first, Paris climate agreement was signed by political leaders to keep the rise in temperature of the Earth under 1.5C. And then at COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021, the world reiterated its commitment to the goal. &nbsp;

The global temperatures from 2022 to 2026 may be between 1.1C and 1.7C higher than the pre-industrial levels, the study said. &nbsp;

Several experts have been urging world leaders to take urgent action to contain global warming to 1.5C for some years. But it seems the calls have fallen on deaf ears. Now, it seems the global warming limit of 1.5C may be breached as warned by the experts earlier. There seems to be a 50:50 chance for the world to warm up by over 1.5C in the next five years, said researchers at UK Met Office, which is the national meteorological service of the nation. The years between 2022 and 2026 will see record warmest years, the researchers said. At first, Paris climate agreement was signed by political leaders to keep the rise in temperature of the Earth under 1.5C. And then at COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021, the world reiterated its commitment to the goal. The global temperatures from 2022 to 2026 may be between 1.1C and 1.7C higher than the pre-industrial levels, the study said. Met Office’s Dr Leon Hermanson, who is the lead author of the report, said, "The basic thing that's changing is that the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, are slowly creeping up. I think people are already quite concerned about climate change and it is worrying, it is showing that we continue to warm the planet and we're getting closer to this first threshold that was set in the Paris agreement - and we need to continue doing everything we can to cut the use of fossil fuels."
