<p>A group of 27 lawmakers wrote a letter to Musk and X chief executive Linda Yaccarino, expressing concerns citing reports from nonprofit organizations that showcased people with X Premium accounts "glorifying barbaric acts of violence against Israelis."</p>

<p>"These reports demonstrated that X is profiting from the spread of this gruesome and harmful propaganda through account subscription fees and ad revenue," the lawmakers wrote, adding that much of the offensive content remained live despite being flagged by researchers. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The lawmakers further said that X earned profit from the posts both from subscription fees as well as ads displayed in replies to both Premium and regular posts.</p>

<p>"X has financially benefited from the spread of demonstrably false and misleading content as well," the lawmakers wrote.</p>

<p>They also noted that since the US had designated Hamas as a terrorist organization in 1997, it was illegal to intentionally provide material support or resources to the group.</p>

<p>Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, on Monday (Nov 20) said that his office was opening an investigation into Media Matters and that he was “extremely troubled” by the allegations.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report prompted high-profile companies, including Apple, Comcast, NBCUniversal and IBM to pause their advertising on X&nbsp;last week after it showed that their ads were displayed with pro-Nazi content.</p>

<p>Musk recently came under fire after he replied to an antisemitic&nbsp;post on the platform saying, “You have said the actual truth.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>The post was seen as a reference to a longtime false conspiracy theory which claims that Jewish people have a secret plan to bring illegal immigrants into the US and move demographics away from a White majority.</p>

<p>“I don’t see a dark, dismal, divided future for America. I see an America about to take off,” said the US president.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The White House later confirmed that they have also launched Threads accounts for First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, her husband Douglas Emhoff and the White House itself in English and Spanish.</p>

<p>“Threads is an additional way we can communicate with the American people about this administration's historic actions to create 14 million jobs, lower prescription drug costs, and protect freedoms and more,” said a White House official, adding that the launch had been in the works for several weeks.</p>

<p>Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk asked a US federal judge on Thursday (November 2) not to compel him to testify in the US Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) probe into the takeover of social media site Twitter. Post his USD 44 billion takeover, Musk has renamed the platform as X.</p>

<p>The SEC sued Musk on October 5 to make him testify for the probe. The investigation was launched in April 2022. Musk has filed his objection in the San Francisco federal court. His lawyers have said that the SEC's subpoena exceeds the agency's investigative authority. They've also said that the subpoena is overly burdensome and seeks" irrelevant evidence".</p>

<p>The commission has said that it was looking into Musk's 2022 purchases of Twitter stock and also his statements and SEC filings related to Twitter and that Musk had declined to attend a September interview for the investigation.</p>

<p>The screenshot shows a number of options which would let users decide whom they want to “allow audio and video calls from” like those in their address book, all verified users, and people they “follow”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, multiple users responded to Musk’s post saying they did not see the feature in their app.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>‘Everything app’</strong></h2>

<p>After rebranding Twitter as X, Musk had said that he would turn the platform into a super-app which would offer a number of services from messaging and social networking to peer-to-peer payments.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier this year, in August, the Tesla CEO had said that a feature to allow voice and video calls on the social media platform was in the works at X.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In July, Musk and his newly hired chief executive Linda Yaccarino for the social media platform announced that Twitter, known for its quintessential Larry the Blue Bird logo, will be rebranded to X.</p>

<p>McSheehan redirected users clicking on the truncated link to his own Telegram channel, where he issued a warning against sharing confidential or sensitive information.</p>

<p>According to Australia’s eSafety commissioner, some companies responded to reports of abuse within minutes, while others took&nbsp;hours. “Companies can make empty statements like ‘Child exploitation is our top priority,’ so what we’re saying is show us,” Julie Inman Grant said during an interview.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Inman Grant, who was a public policy director for X until 2016, also said that the “only reason” that she saw for failing to answer important questions about illegal content and conduct happening on platforms would be to not have them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After taking over the social media platform, Musk said in a post that “removing child exploitation is priority #1”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, when asked about how the social media platform prevented child grooming on the platform, X told Australian regulators that it was “not a service used by large numbers of young people.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Australian regulators were also told by X&nbsp;that the available anti-grooming technology was “not of sufficient capability or accuracy to be deployed on Twitter”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking about the child sexual abuse materials, X said that its detection of such material on the platform had fallen to 75 per cent from 90 per cent in the three months after the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/elon-musk-promotes-unvetted-accounts-amid-spread-of-false-war-information-644316">Tesla CEO took over.</a>&nbsp;</p>

<p>This comes after European Union commissioner and self-styled “digital enforcer” Thierry Breton raised alarm about a surge of online disinformation, especially over the Israel-Hamas conflict and demanded to know what Musk was doing to mitigate it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since Hamas launched a surprise weekend attack on Israel, the EU industry chief gave the social media platform’s owner a 24 hour-ultimatum to tackle the disinformation to comply with new EU online content rules, which require the removal of illegal content and to take measures to tackle the risks to public security and civic discourse.</p>

<p>In a letter dated Wednesday, Yaccarino wrote that it had also taken down posts that involved “violent speech, manipulated media and graphic media”.</p>

<p>She added that the Musk-owned social media platform assembled a leadership group to assess the situation shortly after the attack.</p>

<p>Therefore, to access the link the users will now have to click on the image while there is only a slight change to how the images uploaded to the site appear.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, while Musk has long targeted “legacy media” and has previously claimed that X is a better source of information, he said that the latest change will “greatly improve the esthetics.”</p>

<p>Media reports about the news and other links appearing only as images with no text first emerged in August. It was after a report by Forbes that the Tesla CEO said that the change is in the works. “This is coming from me directly. Will greatly improve the esthetics,” said Musk.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A report by the news agency AFP has noted how the change has been introduced gradually this week where users, instead of seeing a headline along with a picture, now see only an image with a small watermark.</p>

<p>Earlier this week, Musk posted, “I almost never read legacy news anymore.” He added, “What’s the point of reading 1,000 words about something that was already posted on X several days ago?”</p>

According to the reports, two earthquakes of 4.6 and 6.2 magnitude struck Nepal. Delhi-NCR and other regions of north India also felt its shock.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier in June, Delhi-NCR experienced strong tremors after a 5.4 magnitude earthquake jolted Doda in Jammu and Kashmir.</p>

<p>Thus, such tremors&nbsp;are not a new thing for Delhi-NCR residents. They have always had a unique way of reacting to earthquakes, as they experience the shaking once every few months. And it’s not an easy task, but I encourage you and urge you to find a balance," added Netanyahu.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a reply, Musk said while his platform couldn't stop all hate speech, he was&nbsp;"generally against attacking any group, no matter who it is".&nbsp;</p>
