Podcast icon Joe Rogan has expressed his growing worry over the mysterious drone sightings in New Jersey and parts of the Empire State, following a disturbing new theory. The podcast host made these comments on Sunday, December 15, after watching a video that shared an unsettling and unverified claim about the drones.

Drone theory raises alarm

The video, which quickly went viral, features John Ferguson, CEO of a remote aircraft system company in Kansas. He suggests the drones may be searching for something on the ground, like a gas leak or radioactive material. “The only reason you would fly an unmanned aircraft at night is if you’re looking for something,” Ferguson explained, adding that he doesn’t believe the drones are harmful.

Ferguson clarified that this theory is just his best guess based on his expertise and hasn’t been confirmed by others. He cautioned viewers not to jump to conclusions, saying, “If you think it’s nonsense, that’s fine. I don’t want to spread misinformation.”

Rogan’s response to Ferguson’s theory was quick. White House spokesperson John Kirby reassured the public that the drones posed no threat, but Rogan questioned this, calling it “sus.” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated that while some sightings were drones, others were manned aircraft misidentified as drones.

Despite official dismissals, theories persist. Some experts suspect a foreign power may be involved, using the drones to distract from other activities. President-elect Donald Trump also suggested the government knows more and called for the drones to be shot down.

Jeff Bezos is expected to meet with the president-elect next week. For Bezos, the new administration will be necessary. This is for the space race against fellow billionaire Elon Musk.

Bezos was the object of Trump's criticisms though his first term had everything worked out as planned, Amazon's project Kuiper would have begun providing beta services to clients by now.

Amazon is confronted with the possibility of a new White House administration beset by individuals with ties to Musk's SpaceX.

The first operational satellite launches from Kuiper have already been delayed twice in 2024.

Rocket producer United Launch Alliance's latest delay was due to the necessity of prioritising two missions for the US Space Force. The schedule is uncertain.

ULA — a joint venture of Boeing and Lockheed Martin — will not be able to complete those space force launches this year. This is because ULA is investigating a mishap on a flight in October.

In response to Trump's attacks on the Bezos-owned Washington Post during his first term in office, Amazon filed a lawsuit claiming that Trump had told the Pentagon to "screw Amazon" by excluding it from a bidding process.

In what can be best described as a change of fortunes, United States President-elect Donald Trump’s election victory has made him the apple of the eyes of CEOs, executives and influential business leaders. The same executives who literally abandoned Trump following his 2020 loss against President Joe Biden are now lining up to shake his hands.

When Trump visited the New York Stock Exchange earlier this week, CEOs and top executives of Visa, Meta Platforms, Goldman Sachs, Charles Schwab and Citadel could be spotted standing in the crowd.

Their expectations from Trump are straight and reasonable: Getting the most out of the next commander-in-chief for their businesses by relying on personal relationships.

According to media reports, senior c-suite executives are today eager to have a sit-down with Trump at his private Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where his transition team mostly works. According to a business consultant close to Trump, he is advising executives to find common ground to work with the incoming president, including on topics such as tax and regulatory changes.

Even the bigger fishes, like Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, are leaving no stone unturned to bury the hatchet with Trump. Zuckerberg, who was once threatened by Trump with a jail term, has donated $1 million to the incoming president’s inaugural fund, and Jeff Bezos’ Amazon has also reportedly planned a $1 million contribution.

According to reports, Bezos is planning to travel to Trump’s club with his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, and have dinner with the GOP leader.

Alex Conant, a partner at Firehouse Strategies, a Republican public affairs firm, was quoted as saying by the Wall Street Journal, “Given the election results, there is going to be an immense amount of policymaking in Washington next year and smart CEOs realize it’s better to shape an agenda than fight an agenda.”

In anticipation of a potential trade war between the US and China, President Xi Jinping has shown a new arsenal of measures in response to any trade threat.

China showcased a new range of measures it is ready to employ if Trump follows through on his promise to impose tariffs on the world's second-largest economy. Beijing gave the world a sneak peek into its trade war objectives.

This came after the Biden administration restricted China's access to critical components for artificial intelligence (AI) chips earlier this month. Xi restricted the shipment of many rare minerals with military uses and began an investigation into Nvidia days after the bans.

Important parts required to construct drones have also seen reduced Chinese shipments to the United States and Europe. Beijing mimicked the actions of the us and EU by expanding its export control regime to cover all businesses. Not just those in China but also banning businesses outside its border from the sale of certain items to the US.

The retaliation seems to be carefully timed so it could scare the US without causing a rift in the already delicate bilateral relationship, this was done to avoid any significant economic impact on China. After previous restrictions, exports of the impacted metals to the United States essentially dried this year.

Chinese businesses are already making moves to source chips domestically, so most of the swipes appeared to be symbolic.

Christopher Beddor, deputy China research director at Gavekal Dragonomics in Hong Kong, said, "The Chinese government is essentially creating bargaining chips against the US, especially with the anti-trust probe of Nvidia,"

Beddor added, "It doesn't mean they're going use those chips just yet, but they're preparing for negotiations."

Christopher Beddor, deputy China research director at Gavekal Dragonomics in Hong Kong, said, "The Chinese government is essentially creating bargaining chips against the US, especially with the anti-trust probe of Nvidia," Beddor added, "It doesn't mean they're going use those chips just yet, but they're preparing for negotiations." US President-elect Donald Trump has reportedly invited Chinese leader Xi Jinping to his January 20 inauguration ceremony. CBS News reported that Trump extended the invitation in early November, days after his Nov 5 election. It was not clear whether Jinping has accepted the invitation.

If Xi honours the invitation, he would become the first Chinese leader to attend the inauguration ceremony of an American president. According to records maintained by the State Department, the last time a foreign head of state attended the ceremony was in 1874. Normally, foreign dignitaries and diplomats attend the event and represent their respective countries.

According to reports, Trump plans to host several world leaders on the big day at the Capitol. Hungarian Prime Minister and longtime ally of Trump, Viktor Orban, is "still considering" whether to attend the inauguration, CBS reported.

According to a spokesperson for the Trump team, world leaders are lining up to have a word with the incoming president.

"World leaders are lining up to meet with President Trump because they know he will soon return to power and restore peace through American strength around the globe," Trump transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said.
