The acting US attorney, Michael Sherwin, has revealed that the stolen laptops may pose threats to "national security equities". However, the content of the laptops have not been revealed by any officials.

"Regardless of how much they want to downplay this, the laptop has to have at least access that could be leveraged,"&nbsp;said Brandon Hoffman, the chief information security officer at IT security provider Netenrich. "It’s highly unlikely that this laptop was sitting there with no files, or file access, or any other useful information to somebody looking for leverage or retribution."

This scroll was stolen by a gang of three who also robbed more valuables from the collector's apartment. The stolen items were worth&nbsp;HK$5 billion ($645 million) approximately.

The robbery has been identified as one of the most expensive heists, as the stoilen items contained expensive scrolls, antique stamps and revolutionary items from China and Hong Kong.

As of now, one person has been arrested on&nbsp;suspicion of handling stolen goods, another for burglary and the third for assisting a criminal.

The remaining assets were worth a total of $400,000, according to a nine-month investigation by the commission, which said it will ask the attorney general to indict Prayat.&nbsp;

Prayat told local media the charges were a misunderstanding and that his wife was holding the apartment for other people.

The case had raised public concerns and risked further damaging the reputation of anti-corruption investigators in the country, said Sunai Phasuk of Human Rights Watch.&nbsp;

Capital One Financial Corp said on Monday that personal information including names and addresses of about 100 million individuals in the United States and 6 million people in Canada were obtained by a hacker who has been arrested.

The suspect, a 33-year-old former Seattle technology company software engineer identified as Paige Thompson, made her initial appearance in US District Court in Seattle on Monday, the US Attorney's office said.

According to a complaint filed in the District Court for the Western District of Washington at Seattle, Thompson posted information from her hack, which occurred between March 12 and July 17, on coding platform GitHub. Another user saw the post and notified Capital One of the breach.

Law enforcement officials were able to track Thompson down as the page she posted on contained her full name as part of its digital address, the complaint said. Capital One said it identified the hack on July 19.

A representative for the US Attorney's office said it was not immediately clear what the suspect's motive was.

The incident is expected to cost between $100 million and $150 million in 2019, mainly because of customer notifications, credit monitoring and legal support, Capital One said.

The hacker did not gain access to credit card account numbers, but about 140,000 Social Security numbers and 80,000 linked bank account numbers were compromised, Capital One said. Other personal information accessed included phone numbers and credit scores

About 1 million social insurance numbers of the company's Canadian credit card customers were also compromised.

The Capital One hacker was able to gain access to the data through a misconfigured web application firewall, the US Attorney's office said.

Credit-reporting company Equifax Inc said last week it would pay up to $700 million to settle claims it broke the law during a 2017 data breach when roughly 147 million people had information, including Social Security numbers and driver's license data, compromised.

Capital One shares fell 4 per cent in late extended trading.

Capital One Financial Corp said on Monday that personal information including names and addresses of about 100 million individuals in the United States and 6 million people in Canada were obtained by a hacker who has been arrested. The suspect, a 33-year-old former Seattle technology company software engineer identified as Paige Thompson, made her initial appearance in US District Court in Seattle on Monday, the US Attorney's office said. According to a complaint filed in the District Court for the Western District of Washington at Seattle, Thompson posted information from her hack, which occurred between March 12 and July 17, on coding platform GitHub. Another user saw the post and notified Capital One of the breach. Law enforcement officials were able to track Thompson down as the page she posted on contained her full name as part of its digital address, the complaint said. Capital One said it identified the hack on July 19. A representative for the US Attorney's office said it was not immediately clear what the suspect's motive was. The incident is expected to cost between $100 million and $150 million in 2019, mainly because of customer notifications, credit monitoring and legal support, Capital One said. The hacker did not gain access to credit card account numbers, but about 140,000 Social Security numbers and 80,000 linked bank account numbers were compromised, Capital One said. Other personal information accessed included phone numbers and credit scores About 1 million social insurance numbers of the company's Canadian credit card customers were also compromised. The Capital One hacker was able to gain access to the data through a misconfigured web application firewall, the US Attorney's office said. Brunei first announced the measures in 2013 but implementation has been delayed as officials worked out the practical details and in the teeth of opposition by rights groups.&nbsp;

However, a spokesman for the Brunei religious affairs ministry Wednesday said only that Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah was expected to make an announcement on April 3 regarding the implementation of the new Sharia laws.

"Only after the event we will know regarding the date of the implementation of the new laws," he told AFP Wednesday.

"In terms of readiness, at the moment we are prepared to enforce the amputation of the hand for stealing only. That is all."

Phil Robertson of Human Rights Watch warned that implementation of the law "will quickly drive the country towards human rights pariah status in the eyes of foreign investors, tourists, and international agencies".

He added: "If this ill-considered plan goes forward, there is every reason to believe the global boycott Brunei movement will re-start."&nbsp;

Robertson said Brunei will become the only country in Southeast Asia to punish gay sex with death if it pushes through with the law.

Under a shift towards hardline Islamic law, Brunei in 2015 banned excessive Christmas celebrations for fear that Muslims could be led astray.

The United States has decided to cut short the length of validity of visas issued o Chinese citizens as part of a strategy to prevent intellectual property theft by US rivals, a White House official said on Tuesday.

The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis although the visa process remains the same, reports said.&nbsp;

The US State Department will implement measures from June 11 to “enhance security for some Chinese visa applicants,” the official said.

Reports further said that the maximum validity for Chinese student visas would remain the same, five years, but that consular officials have the authority to put an earlier expiration date on some visas.

A US official has said that Chinese graduate students would be limited to one-year visas if they are studying in certain fields, such as robotics, aviation and high-tech manufacturing.

The change would come as President Donald Trump’s administration attempts to crack down on what it says is theft of US intellectual property by China.

“Going forward, a reduction in the validity of some newly issued visas is part of the National Security Strategy to ensure that intellectual property is not transferred to our competitors,” the official said, referring to a document issued by the Trump administration in December.

Two Australian tourists accused of stealing a bicycle have been forced to take a &quot;walk of shame&quot; through an Indonesian island with signs round their necks, an official said Tuesday.

The valuable 1918&nbsp;stamp&nbsp;is one of a series featuring a Curtiss JN-4 biplane, nicknamed &quot;Jenny,&quot; that were mistakenly printed upside down. The image has made the&nbsp;stamp&nbsp;one of the most recognised among&nbsp;stamp&nbsp;enthusiasts and non-collectors alike.

Officials of the American Philatelic Research Library accepted the&nbsp;stamp&nbsp;from federal law enforcement officials during a ceremony at the World&nbsp;Stamp&nbsp;Show in New York.
