<h2 dir="ltr">Six to eight workers feared trapped</h2>
According to a senior police official, six to eight workers are feared trapped as per information given by the company engaged in the work.
The police said, &ldquo;The incident occurred when some workers had gone inside as part of the work when the roof collapsed at 12-13 kms inside the tunnel.&rdquo;
Collector B Santosh said there has been no contact with those trapped and the internal communication mechanism has also failed. The air chamber and conveyor belt have both collapsed.

<h2 dir="ltr">CM Revanth Reddy alerts officials</h2>
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed shock over the incident and while he mentioned several people were injured in the collapse, he did not share any exact figures.
"After receiving information about the tunnel collapse and several injuries, the Chief Minister immediately alerted the officials. He ordered the District Collector, SP, Fire Department, Hydra and Irrigation Department officials to immediately reach the spot and provide relief measures," Telangana CMO posted on X.
According to the post, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar and other officials from his department have left for the accident site in a special helicopter.
Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy has sought an explanation for the tunnel accident and directed officials to prioritise the rescue of those trapped and provide medical attention to the injured.
Through a post on X, Reddy emphasised the need for swift action to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected.

The state planning department, which conducted the survey, submitted its report to the cabinet sub-committee headed by state Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday.
The minister said the report would be presented before the state cabinet on February 4. On the same day, it would be placed before a special session of the legislative assembly for debate.
In terms of numbers, the population of SCs is 61,84,319, STs is 37,05,929, BCs other than Muslim minorities is 1,64,09,179, BCs among Muslim minorities are 35,76,588, Muslim (OC) is 8,80,424.
The total Muslim percentage in the state is 12.56, Reddy told reporters here.
The number of total households in the state is 1,15,78,457, while the count of total households surveyed is 1,12,15,134. Telangana provides reservations to backward Muslims in the backward classes category.
Reddy, who termed the report historic, said the survey covered 3,54,77,554 individuals (96.9 per cent of population).

Through the survey, data-driven welfare and data-driven opportunities in social, economic, educational, political fields would be available to the "poorest of the poor, weakest of the weak and marginalised sections in Telangana", he said.
The Congress government's comprehensive socio-economic, employment, political, and caste survey, an election promise of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, was conducted for 50 days from November 6, 2024.

North Indian states of the country are also experiencing extreme cold weather conditions, with temperatures going below freezing point in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir. The Indian Met department issued an “orange” alert in several parts of Himachal Pradesh after recording minus 10.6 degrees Celsius at Tabo in the Lahaul and Spiti district.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said the newly designed 'Telangana Thalli' (Mother Telangana) portrait represents the state's cultural ethos and motherhood.

In a veiled attack on the previous BRS regime, Reddy said it is a deficiency that the design and portrait of 'Telangana Thalli' were not officially announced during the last 10 years.

Making a statement in the Assembly on the installation of the 'Telangana Thalli' statue in Secretariat premises on Monday evening, he said the government consulted Telangana agitation protagonists, poets, and artists on finalising the image and portrait.

According to the CM, intellectuals and Telangana protagonists favoured the image of a mother. The image finalised by the government represents the state's culture and traditions.

The design finalised by the government depicts Mother Telangana in traditional attire, exuding a dignified appearance. The right hand symbolises reassurance, while the left-hand holds traditional Telangana crops—paddy, jowar, and maize, he said.

The colours blue, green, red, and gold in the image represent Telangana's rivers, agricultural heritage, progress, and prosperity, respectively, he added. The closed fists at the base of the statue reflect the state's history of struggles and agitations.

The government has invited Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi. At least five people were killed and one person was injured after a car plunged into a lake in the Indian state of Telangana on Saturday (Dec 7). They were travelling near Jalalpur village of Yadadri Bhongir district when the car went out of control and landed in the lake.

The victims were residents of the LC Nagar area in Hyderabad and were intoxicated during the accident. They reportedly left their homes at night and reached the village early morning to consume fresh toddy.

The victims have been identified as Vamsi (23), Dignesh (21), Harsha, Vinay, Manikanth, and Balu (19). All of them were residents of Hyderabad, police told India Today.&nbsp;

“The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families following legal formalities. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing," the police said.

The victim's uncle Talluri Srujan said that Teja,&nbsp;who had joined a part-time job in Chicago, was shot dead by two African American suspects.

"Yesterday, at 6:00 pm, according to American timings, Sai Teja was murdered by gunfire by African Americans in Chicago City. This is a very sad thing for me. He went to the US on June 15 after completing his BBA in Hyderabad. He went to study for an MBA at Concordia University and also joined a part-time job in Chicago," Srujan said according to news agency ANI.

"At his usual time, Teja went to the store. When he was at the cash counter, some dacoits entered the store and demanded money. Sai Teja handed over the money, but they were not satisfied... They took the cash and shot Sai Teja outside the store," he added.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in a post on X, said that he was “deeply grieved at this news.”

Minister from the Indian state of Telangana, Konda Surekha has triggered a row with her remarks on the Naga Chaitanya-Samantha divorce, saying that senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao may be responsible for his father K Chandrashekar Rao's alleged disappearance and not being seen in public for a while.

Surekha was speaking in the former Telangana chief minister's constituency of Gajwel on Thursday (Oct 3) and urged her party members to file a missing case for K Chandrashekar Rao, who is popularly known as KCR.&nbsp;

This comes a day after the Rao family released photos in which KCR can be seen attending the birthday celebrations of his wife Shobha.&nbsp;
