<p>The Indian national has been identified as Mohammad Shehzad Khan. He was a resident of Karimnagar, about 174 km from Hyderabad or over 1,400 km south of New Delhi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Khan was working in Saudi Arabia for three years with a telecommunications company. Khan and his colleague found themselves stranded in the desolate and perilous Empty Quarter part of the desert, one of the most dangerous regions in the world.</p>

<p>The region is notorious for its harsh conditions and spans across Saudi Arabia's southern regions and neighbouring countries.</p>

<p>The incident unfolded when Khan along with a Sudanese national, lost his way after their GPS signal failed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per the report, incumbent Andhra Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy said that if he remains CM, Vizag would be the state's administrative capital while Amravati would be the seat of the legislature, and Kurnool would be the judicial capital.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A notification has been issued by Telangana's Commissioner of Food Safety, outlawing the production, storage, distribution, transportation, and sale of tobacco- and nicotine-containing products such as pan masala and gutka. According to the department, the order will be in place for one year, beginning Friday, May 24.</p>

<p>Smokeless tobacco and nicotine products like pan masala and gutka are harmful and can have negative effects on one's health.</p>

<p>Gutka and pan masala consumption has been related to oral cancer, submucous fibrosis, and other health issues. Tobacco usage was responsible for 55% of cancer cases in Varanasi, India.</p>

<p>In India, the percentage of people who use smokeless tobacco is 21.4% (199.4 million), whereas the percentage of adults who use smoking tobacco is 10.7% (99.5 million). The Lancet study found that quit rates are low.<br />

<p>While she was being taken from Rouse Avenue Court, New Delhi, the fiery BRS leader slammed her critics.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kavitha said the case against her "is not money laundering but political laundering", and emphasised that her accusers had either donated money to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party or joined it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It is a fabricated and false case. One accused has joined the BJP, second is getting a BJP ticket, and third accused gave Rs 500 million in electoral bonds. This is political laundering... we will come out clean," she said.</p>

Liquor policy case: K Kavitha sent to judicial custody for 14 days, bail plea to be heard on April 1

<p>The Enforcement Directorate alleged on Monday that K Kavitha, a leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), conspired with top leaders including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to pay ₹1&nbsp;billion&nbsp;($12 million).&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to an ED statement, "Kavitha along with others "conspired with the top leaders of AAP including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia for getting favours in the Delhi excise policy-formulation and implementation."</p>

<p>"In exchange of these favours, she was involved in paying&nbsp;₹100 crore to the leaders of AAP," the agency added.</p>

<p>Last week, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) apprehended the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who remains in the agency's custody until March 23. According to the ED, "corruption and conspiracy" in the development and execution of Delhi's excise policy resulted in "a consistent flow of illicit funds in the guise of kickbacks from wholesalers" to the AAP.</p>

<p>The Enforcement Directorate claimed that the 45-year-old BRS leader and her associates were intended to retrieve the pre-paid proceeds of illegal activity given to the AAP and to subsequently generate profits or proceeds of crime through this comprehensive scheme.</p>

<p>During the request for remand of the BRS MLC, the ED informed the special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court that Kavitha was identified as "one of the masterminds, a pivotal conspirator, and a beneficiary of the Delhi excise policy scandal."</p>

<p>Kavitha had previously stated that she had not engaged in any wrongdoing and accused the Centre of utilising the ED due to the BJP's failure to gain entry into Telangana indirectly. The AAP has accused the BJP of employing the ED and CBI as their "enforcers" to eliminate political adversaries.</p>

‘K Kavitha paid ₹1 billion ($12 mn) to AAP leaders,’ Enforcement Directorate says

<p>Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday (March 16)&nbsp;slammed Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over K Kavitha's arrest, terming it a "serial drama" and claiming that the parties were playing cheap politics.</p>

<p>"Just a day ahead of polls notification, ED arrested Kavitha. This is nothing but a serial drama. Why didn't they arrest her in 2022? K Kavitha is the daughter of KCR [Chandrashekhar Rao, the chief of BRS]. When ED arrested her and took her, why didn't KCR come there as a father or as party chief?" he asked at a press conference.</p>

<p>He further&nbsp;said that both BRS and BJP were trying to mislead people.</p>

<p>"They are trying to play cheap politics. Both BJP and BRS are trying to mislead people. Modi wants to take votes portraying that they take action on her for involving in a scam and KCR want to take votes on sympathy. We see how cheap political tactics are being played," he added.</p>

<p>Five men from the southern Indian state of Telangana returned to their families after being incarcerated in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for 18 years. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), a political party in Telangana, has claimed that it was due to efforts from its leader KT Rama Rao (KTR). All five men are residents of Ranjanna Sirisilla District in the state.</p>

<h2><strong>What were the charges against these men?</strong></h2>

<p>The men, who were working in Dubai, were accused of killing a Nepali national. Following a court trial there, they were sentenced to 25 years in jail in the year 2005.</p>

<p>As per the claim made by BRS, party leader KTR travelled to Nepal to meet family members of the deceased, Bahadur Singh. He worked as a watchman in Dubai.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The family members signed amnesty and with the help of lawyers, a petition was made to the courts to release the men. After the initial plea was denied, another one was made in September 2023. Eventually, the petition paved the way for the men's release.</p>

<p>An executive engineer associated with the Tribal Welfare Department of India’s southern state of Telangana broke down in tears after being caught red-handed taking a bribe of INR 84,000 ($1,000).</p>

<p>K Jaga Jyothi was subsequently detained by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad's Masab Tank area, after being&nbsp;accused by contractor Bodukarr Ganganna of demanding a bribe in exchange for an official work.</p>

<p>According to Free Press Journal, the official sanction for the duty had already been passed, which was related to Nizamabad. The matter intensified when a local journalist reported the incident on social media.</p>
