Not all is hunky dory for Swifties it seems. For many in the United Kingdom seeking Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert, it may be a 'cruel summer'. According to Lloyds Bank, many of Swift's fans have been scammed for over $1.2 million trying to purchase concert tickets, mostly through Facebook. This has prompted the bank, which is among the United Kingdom's largest, to issue an "urgent warning".

The warning said that at least 600 of its customers had been victimised by a ticket scam, losing anywhere from £332 to over £1,000 ($ 414 to over $ 1,247).

Lloyds has estimated some 3,000 more Brits may have fallen prey to the scams who are not their customers, losing as much as £1 million, or over $1.2 million, in total nationwide.

Most of the scams appeared to target 25- to 34-year-olds using fake ads on Facebook, the bank said.
"For her legion of dedicated Swifties, the excitement is building ahead of Taylor's Eras Tour finally touching down in the UK this summer. However cruel fraudsters have wasted no time in targeting her most loyal fans as they rush to pick up tickets for her must-see concerts," fraud prevention director Liz Ziegler told a leading daily in Britain.

Taylor Swift’s songs have finally returned to TikTok after a gap of 10 weeks. This happened after a licensing dispute between the social media app and Universal Music Group.

As of now, multiple Taylor Swift’s hit numbers like “You Belong With Me,” “Lover,” “Cardigan,” “Mirrorball,” “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” “Cruel Summer,” “Cardigan,” “Style (Taylor’s Version),” “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version),” “The Man” and “ME!” have all come back on the TikTok app. Users can now successfully incorporate these songs on their videos.

Taylor’s songs were removed from TikTok in February, after the app and UMG failed to renew a licensing pact that expired on January 31. Universal Music accused TikTok of trying to “bully” the music company into a deal worth less than their previous agreement. They alleged that TikTok was not willing to address AI and piracy concerns.

TikTok slammed those claims and said that Universal was engaging in “false narrative and rhetoric.”

Good news for Swifties

This update comes just in time as Taylor Swift is ready to release her next studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. It is due for release on April 19.

It’s possible that Taylor Swift has made this breakthrough happen between the parties and that she partners with TikTok to promote her upcoming album. She did the same for her last album, Midnights. For that album, she dropped a track reveal video for every track on the album, exclusively to the platform.

There are more billionaires in the world right now than ever before, according to Forbes which released its World’s Billionaires List in 2024, on Tuesday (Apr 2). It also features American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift who, for the first time, joined the list of the world’s richest people.

About the Forbes’ list

The Forbes’ annual ranking of the world’s richest people shows that not only are there more billionaires than ever before but also that they are collectively worth a record-setting amount with their combined assets estimated at $14.2 trillion.

According to the list, there are a total of 2,781 billionaires in the world, with 141 new names joining this year, including Taylor Swift. The number in 2024 breaks the record set in 2021, by 26 people.

It is also worth noting that the cost of living crisis, the pandemic, wars, and instability across the world have had very little impact on the billionaires as their collective wealth, in the past decade or so, has risen 120 per cent.

Around two-thirds of the list’s members are worth more than a year ago, with only one-fourth of them becoming poorer. However, much of these gains, according to Forbes, came from the top 20 which added a combined total of $700 billion in wealth since last year.

The United States tops the list with a record 813 billionaires who are worth $5.7 trillion. This was followed by China (including Hong Kong), with 473 worth $1.7 trillion. India ranked third with a record 200 billionaires who have assets amounting to $954 billion.

Top 3 richest people in the world in 2024

LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, French luxury goods titan Bernard Arnault and his family topped the list with an estimated $233 billion.

Taylor Swift and the richest newcomer

Swift, with an estimated worth of $1.1 billion, has marked yet another milestone, by becoming the first musician to join the 2024 ranks based solely on songwriting and performing.

Forbes also attributed this rise to the American pop star’s record-breaking first leg of the Eras Tour which is the first to surpass $1 billion in revenue. The 34-year-old is among the 265 newcomers to feature on Forbes’ list this year.

The richest newcomer on the list was Italy’s Andrea Pignataro, a former Salomon Brothers bond trader who launched financial software firm ION Group in 1999 and has grown it since through several high-profile acquisitions. He is worth an estimated $27.5 billion.

Taylor Swift was voted the Artist of the Year at the 12th annual iHeartRadio Music Awards. The event took place in Los Angeles on Monday. The Grammy winner did not attend the event but sent a pre-recorded message for her fans in which she teased new projects and said, "exciting things coming up."

After *NSYNC's Lance Bass and Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean introduced Swift as the award winner — as well as the winner for Pop Artist of the Year and Tour of the Year — a video of the hitmaker played on the big screen at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

Swift led the nominations this year with nine awards, followed by Jelly Roll, SZA and 21 Savage with eight nods each and Olivia Rodrigo at seven.

Taylor Swift's speech

"Hey! I wanted to say thank you so much to anyone who voted for this award," the Grammy winner said in the pre-recorded message. Swift was dressed in a blue top and a gold necklace.

"iHeart, you've also just been so incredibly supportive throughout my entire career, but especially this year has been pretty spectacular. I am so grateful for that."

Swift also took a moment to shout out to her fans for their support in listening to her music and showing up to her record-breaking Eras Tour. "You know, to the fans, it is completely up to you to choose how you spend your time, what concerts you want to go to, what music you want to make the soundtrack of your life. And to anyone who has included me in those choices, I am so, so, so thankful for that," she shared.

She continued, "We have so many exciting things ahead of us. I'm continuing on with the tour and, most importantly, I have a brand new album called The Tortured Poets Department, which comes out on April 19. I cannot wait to share it with you."

"So, thank you for voting for me for this incredible honor — artist of the year," the singer-songwriter's thoughtful speech concluded. "I am so blown away and so thankful and I just can't wait to keep having fun with you guys because we have a lot of exciting things coming up. Thank you so much."

A few special honours were announced ahead of this year's iHeartRadio Music Awards, with Cher receiving the Icon Award, and Beyoncé taking home the Innovator Award.
Taylor Swift was voted the Artist of the Year at the 12th annual iHeartRadio Music Awards. The event took place in Los Angeles on Monday. The Grammy winner did not attend the event but sent a pre-recorded message for her fans in which she teased new projects and said, "exciting things coming up." After *NSYNC's Lance Bass and Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean introduced Swift as the award winner — as well as the winner for Pop Artist of the Year and Tour of the Year — a video of the hitmaker played on the big screen at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Swift led the nominations this year with nine awards, followed by Jelly Roll, SZA and 21 Savage with eight nods each and Olivia Rodrigo at seven. Taylor Swift's speech "Hey! I am so grateful for that." Swift also took a moment to shout out to her fans for their support in listening to her music and showing up to her record-breaking Eras Tour. I cannot wait to share it with you." "So, thank you for voting for me for this incredible honor — artist of the year," the singer-songwriter's thoughtful speech concluded. "I am so blown away and so thankful and I just can't wait to keep having fun with you guys because we have a lot of exciting things coming up. Thank you so much." A few special honours were announced ahead of this year's iHeartRadio Music Awards, with Cher receiving the Icon Award, and Beyoncé taking home the Innovator Award.
During her recent interview with Billboard, the Oscar-winning singer along with her mother Maggie Baird talked about how for her family, the environment has been a top-most priority even above her music career.

Speaking with the outlet, the singer called out the big artists for using ''wasteful packaging'' as they sell out the different versions of their albums including vinyl packaging.

Taylor Swift’s dad will face no charges over paparazzi incident in Sydney

“We live in this day and age where, for some reason, it’s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging … which ups the sales and ups the numbers and gets them more money,” she said.

Saying it's irritating for her to see artists selling different vinyl packages to make people buy more, Eilish went on to slam the big artists.

“It is right in front of our faces and people are just getting away with it left and right, and I find it really frustrating as somebody who really goes out of my way to be sustainable and do the best that I can and try to involve everybody in my team in being sustainable — and then it’s some of the biggest artists in the world making f–king 40 different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more. It’s so wasteful, and it’s irritating to me that we’re still at a point where you care that much about your numbers and you care that much about making money — and it’s all your favorite artists doing that sh*t,” she said.

Many artists like Taylor Swift, Olivio Rodrigo and others have been selling their albums through colourful vinyl variants to increase sales. Even Eilish’s album Happier Than Ever had eight vinyl variants, but what makes singers work eco-friendly is that they were all made up of 100% recycled material.

Did Billie Eilish directly call out Taylor Swift?

Billie has expressed her anger towards the artist without taking any name. But netizens felt that the singer was indirectly hitting Tay Tay.

For those who don't know, Taylor has been known for selling different variants of vinyl with different and colourful packaging for years now, and her millions of fans are always most excited to buy. Even her upcoming album The Tortured Poets Department which she announced on the Grammy night, will be released in four different versions. In 2023, Swift's Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version), broke the record for the largest sales week on vinyl in U.S. history.

Billie's comment grabbed mixed reactions from netizens, with the majority of them thinking that it was a direct hit at Taylor.

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce spotted at Madonna’s Oscars afterparty

The new highlight of the Eras tour is Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's adoring moments. After meeting in Sydney, Taylor and Travis reunited again, this time in Singapore.

The Kansas City Chiefs attended the fifth night of Swift's Eras Tour at Singapore National Stadium. And, like the previous time, Taylor didn't forget to give a shout-out to her love in front of the thousands of concertgoers at the stadium.

Making Kelce's visit count, Taylor again altered her ''Karma'' lyrics. Editing her 2022 track ''Karma'', Swift sang, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me."

BLACKPINK's Lisa and Taylor Swift reunite at Singapore concert; send fans into a frenzy

Singapore said Monday its grant to Taylor Swift for her concerts in the city was nowhere near as high as speculated, following media reports that the superstar was offered millions of dollars per gig. Around 300,000 people from Singapore and around the region are expected to attend the six sold-out shows that began March 2 -- but some neighbours were not happy about being left off The Eras Tour.

Some, including reportedly the Thai prime minister, have said that Swift was paid millions to keep her from performing anywhere else in the region.

"There has been some online speculation as to the size of the grant. I can say that it is not accurate and not anywhere as high as speculated," Singapore's culture minister Edwin Tong told parliament. "Due to business confidentiality reasons, we cannot reveal the specific size of the grant or the conditions of the grant."

Tong added that the "economic benefits to Singapore are assessed to be significant and outweigh the size of the grant".

Singapore said Monday its grant to Taylor Swift for her concerts in the city was nowhere near as high as speculated, following media reports that the superstar was offered millions of dollars per gig.

"Due to business confidentiality reasons, we cannot reveal the specific size of the grant or the conditions of the grant." Tong added that the "economic benefits to Singapore are assessed to be significant and outweigh the size of the grant". Thailand's Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin had reportedly said, citing a concert promoter, that Singapore offered Swift up to US$3 million per concert if she did not play anywhere else in Southeast Asia. A lawmaker in the Philippines also criticised Singapore, reportedly saying this was not "what good neighbours do".
