Taylor Swift returns with her Eras Tour concert in Europe

<p>Taylor Swift-fever struck Paris on Thursday as the highest-grossing tour in history finally arrived in Europe, with fans treated to the first-ever performance of songs from her latest album.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Eras Tour began its European leg with four dates at the La Defense Arena in Paris.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I wish I could have toured Europe more. This is a dream crowd," the 34-year-old megastar told the ecstatic audience.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There were deafening shrieks as images of typewriter sheets indicated that songs off the new album "The Tortured Poets Department" were starting late in the show. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Emerging in a lyrics-covered dress, she ran through several of the darker new tracks starting with "But Daddy I Love Him" and including "Fortnight", a particularly furious rendition of "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" and an elaborate "I Can Do it with a Broken Heart" with a golden-era Hollywood dance routine.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"You were the first crowd to see songs from 'The Tortured Poets Department'," she said, before adding: "Or, as I like to call it, 'Female Rage: the Musical'".&nbsp;</p>

<p>That was a dream come true for many in the audience. &nbsp;</p>

<p>"I've been so excited for so long, I can't believe it's actually happening," said 11-year-old Emma, who had flown in with her mother from New York.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The venue said a fifth of the crowd were from the United States -- many attracted by Europe's rules against charging huge mark-ups on resale tickets that can save Americans thousands of dollars compared with shows at home.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Georg'Ann Daly decided to celebrate her 23rd birthday with the Paris show. It meant flying from Nashville to Chicago to London and catching the Eurostar to Paris.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I've always been obsessed with Taylor Swift," she told AFP.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A handful of superfans camped out from Tuesday in Paris to ensure they got a prime spot.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I didn't plan to, but I came to check it out and I saw the first tents and I panicked a little," said Chris, 30.&nbsp;<br />
Noah, 20, is seeing all four Paris concerts -- he used 22 email addresses to get through the lottery system and secure the tickets.&nbsp;</p>

<p>-- Record-breaker --</p>

<p>Some 42,000 people will see Swift in Paris before she heads on for dates in Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Eras Tour has worked its way across North and South America and Asia since starting in March 2023.&nbsp;<br />
By the end of the year, it had already become the first to sell more than $1 billion in tickets and is on track to more than double that by the time it concludes in Vancouver this December.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Swift's popularity shows no sign of dimming -- the new album shifted 1.4 million copies on its first day and broke every streaming record going, reaching a billion streams on Spotify within five days.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Swift's tell-all dissections of her love stories have been the fuel powering her global domination, and fans have been poring over "The Tortured Poets Department" for cryptic clues about ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, her short-but-dramatic fling with Matty Healy (lead singer of The 1975), and her current partner, American football star Travis Kelce.</p>

<p>"Taylor talks about toxic relationships, impossible love, politics, mental health, and so much more," said Chris as she waited by her tent for the big moment. "I think we can all find a song that resonates with our experiences."&nbsp;</p>

Taylor Swift European dates kick off in Paris

<p>A North Korean propaganda song showing Kim Jong Un as a hero is being dubbed a pop banger by Gen Z TikTok users. The song, titled "Friendly Father", praised the dictator with the lyrics describing Kim as "warm-hearted like your mother" and "benevolent like your father".&nbsp;</p>

<p>In one scene, Kim can be seen hugging a child before kissing her on the cheek. In another, Kim is mobbed by a group of women. Other moments in the video show smiling military troops and bus riders of all ages singing along to the lyrics. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The song has garnered millions of views, including from many Gen-Z users who don't really know the meaning of the song’s lyrics that shower admiration on the leader who has vowed to "thoroughly annihilate" the United States and rival South Korea if provoked.</p>

<h2><strong>Kim Jong Un's propaganda song gets Taylor Swift comparison</strong></h2>

<p>Users on the internet described the song as "ABBA-coded", BBC reported. This has helped the track reach levels of virality typically expected from a hit by somebody like Taylor Swift and not a&nbsp;propaganda machinery.</p>

<p>"Taylor Swift was not expecting to get blown out of the water right after dropping her new album," one online user said, while another joked the song "needs a Grammy".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Alexandra Leonzini, a Cambridge University scholar focusing on North Korean music told BBC such tracks also rarely feature any actual emotions.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The idea is they want to motivate, to strive towards a common goal for the benefit of the nation… they don’t tend to produce songs like ballads," she told the outlet.</p>

<p>The song also points to a direction the isolated country is shifting, such as with lyrics referring to Kim as "father" and "the Great."&nbsp;</p>

A North Korean propaganda song showing Kim Jong Un as a hero is being dubbed a pop banger by Gen Z TikTok users. The song, titled "Friendly Father", praised the dictator with the lyrics describing Kim as "warm-hearted like your mother" and "benevolent like your father". In one scene, Kim can be seen hugging a child before kissing her on the cheek. In another, Kim is mobbed by a group of women. Other moments in the video show smiling military troops and bus riders of all ages singing along to the lyrics. Kim Jong Un's propaganda song gets Taylor Swift comparison Users on the internet described the song as "ABBA-coded", BBC reported. This has helped the track reach levels of virality typically expected from a hit by somebody like Taylor Swift and not a propaganda machinery. "Taylor Swift was not expecting to get blown out of the water right after dropping her new album," one online user said, while another joked the song "needs a Grammy". Alexandra Leonzini, a Cambridge University scholar focusing on North Korean music told BBC such tracks also rarely feature any actual emotions. "The idea is they want to motivate, to strive towards a common goal for the benefit of the nation… they don’t tend to produce songs like ballads," she told the outlet. The song also points to a direction the isolated country is shifting, such as with lyrics referring to Kim as "father" and "the Great." Singapore defended its strategy of offering incentives to secure Taylor Swift’s exclusive concerts in Southeast Asia, saying the economic benefits of doing so outweigh any cost the city-state incurred in the process and that it was ultimately her choice where she wants to perform.

<p>Taylor Swift doesn’t know how to stop and we aren’t complaining. The pop singer is ready to resume her Eras Tour after the launch of her latest studio album, <em>The Tortured Poets Department </em>(TTPD). The album has been generating a whole lot of buzz for the singer, breaking records left, right and centre and establishing Taylor as a pop culture icon, one album after another.&nbsp;</p>

<p><em>The Tortured Poets </em>continues to set and knock down records as Swift&nbsp;has now become the first artist to claim the top 14 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Almost all songs featured in her new album have claimed top spots on the chart. This comes after her 2022 album <em>Midnights</em> did something similar.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Fortnights is the biggest hit from&nbsp;The Tortured Poets Department </strong></h2>

<p>Among all songs, the biggest hit from TTPD is “Fortnight” which she sang as a duet with Post Malone. The song is currently sitting comfortably at Number 1. The song is her 12th topper on the Billboard chart. With this, Taylor Swift now has the sixth-most Number 1s and levels up from 49 to 59 career top 10s, which is the most among female artists.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Also, “Fortnight” secured 76.2 million streams, and became her ninth No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart, the most among women. All 31 songs have landed on the Hot 100.</p>

<h2><strong>All the records Taylor has made with&nbsp;TTPD</strong></h2>

<p>Apart from “Fortnight,” Taylor Swift’s other hits include “Down Bad,” “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” “The Tortured Poets Department,” “So Long, London,” “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,” “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Florida!!!” featuring Florence + the Machine, “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” and “Guilty as Sin?” – all in Top 10.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Taylor Swift has now eclipsed Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder for the most toppers on the Hot 100. She is now tied with the Supremes and Madonna and sits behind Michael Jackson, Drake, Rihanna, Mariah Carey and the Beatles, who have the most No. 1s with 20.</p>

<p>Just yesterday, Taylor Swift thanked her fans for such an enthusiastic response to her latest album which she has released as two albums in one. She released a set of songs first and then released another set of songs as an extended version of the album, <em>The Tortured Poets Department.</em></p>

Taylor Swift doesn’t know how to stop and we aren’t complaining. The pop singer is ready to resume her Eras Tour after the launch of her latest studio album, The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD). The album has been generating a whole lot of buzz for the singer, breaking records left, right and centre and establishing Taylor as a pop culture icon, one album after another. The Tortured Poets continues to set and knock down records as Swift has now become the first artist to claim the top 14 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Almost all songs featured in her new album have claimed top spots on the chart. This comes after her 2022 album Midnights did something similar. Fortnights is the biggest hit from The Tortured Poets Department Among all songs, the biggest hit from TTPD is “Fortnight” which she sang as a duet with Post Malone. The song is currently sitting comfortably at Number 1. The song is her 12th topper on the Billboard chart. With this, Taylor Swift now has the sixth-most Number 1s and levels up from 49 to 59 career top 10s, which is the most among female artists. Also, “Fortnight” secured 76.2 million streams, and became her ninth No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart, the most among women. All 31 songs have landed on the Hot 100. All the records Taylor has made with TTPD Apart from “Fortnight,” Taylor Swift’s other hits include “Down Bad,” “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” “The Tortured Poets Department,” “So Long, London,” “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,” “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Florida!!!” featuring Florence + the Machine, “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” and “Guilty as Sin?” – all in Top 10. Taylor Swift has now eclipsed Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder for the most toppers on the Hot 100. She is now tied with the Supremes and Madonna and sits behind Michael Jackson, Drake, Rihanna, Mariah Carey and the Beatles, who have the most No. 1s with 20. Just yesterday, Taylor Swift thanked her fans for such an enthusiastic response to her latest album which she has released as two albums in one. She released a set of songs first and then released another set of songs as an extended version of the album, The Tortured Poets Department. Taylor Swift makes record with Tortured Poets album, all songs in Billboard Hot 100

<p>Taylor Swift has delivered some of the most memorable Met Gala outfits over the years. She first attended the legendary gala in 2008, donning a slinky gown from Badgley Mischka. In 2010, she returned to the Met Gala red carpet in a shoulder-baring dress from Ralph Lauren. The fashionista further experimented with her looks in 2011, 2013, and 2014 for the world's most prestigious and glamorous fashion event and social gathering. She last attended the gala in 2016 in a custom Louis Vuitton mini-dress. It's been 8 years since we saw the diva at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Will she attend the gala this year? Well, sadly no!</p>

<p>In a recent development, it has been confirmed by PEOPLE that Taylor Swift will not be attending the 2024 Met Gala, despite earlier reports suggesting otherwise. The singer, who recently released her album <em>The Tortured Poets Department</em> on April 19, is prioritising rehearsals and tour preparations ahead of her upcoming Eras Tour dates.</p>

<p>The Met Gala is scheduled for May 6, which would have been a tight schedule for Swift, 34, given her tour commitments. TMZ previously reported that Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, would&nbsp;be skipping the event this year.</p>

<p>The Grammy winner has been enjoying immense success following the release of <em>The Tortured Poets Department</em>, topping the Billboard chart and amassing 1 billion Spotify streams in a week. Despite her absence, the Met Gala is expected to attract a star-studded lineup, with this year's theme centred around the "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" exhibit.</p>

<p>The event's dress code, themed "The Garden of Time," is inspired by J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story of the same name. Celebrities are expected to pay homage to florals, music, and time in their ensembles.</p>

<p>Leading the pack as co-chairs of the night are Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, and Bad Bunny. While some details about their looks are still being finalised, anticipation is high for the fashion-forward event.</p>

<p>Zendaya, a five-time attendee known for her stunning appearances, told Vanity Fair that she still doesn't "really know" what she's wearing but has "ideas." Meanwhile, Lopez, who is known for her last-minute choices, is still considering a few different sketches for her outfit.</p>

<p>Taylor Swift may have hinted about her long-standing feud with Kim Kardashian in her latest album Tortured Poets Department but the reality TV star seems to have moved on. Sources close to Kim have stated that she isn't sure why Taylor is still stuck on it.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The feud took place a few years back and got reignited with Taylor's new album The Tortured Poets Department. A source told People about Kim's response, “She’s over it and thinks Taylor should move on.” Kim “doesn’t get why (Taylor) keeps harping on it,” the source said. “It’s been years.”<br />
<br />
In the track thanK you aIMee, Taylor sings about getting bullied. Fans have noted that the capital letters in the name of the song turn out to spell KIM. The lyrics go like, "All that time you were throwin' punches, it was all for nothin' / An our town, it look so small from way up here / Screamed 'Thank you, Aimee' to the night sky and the stars are stunnin' / 'Cause I can't forget the way you made me heal."<br />
<br />
Kim's Instagram followers dropped after the release of the song and she lost around 500,000 followers since the release of the song.<br />
<br />
Before the album release, Kim had 364.3 million Instagram followers. But after the release, her count dropped to 363.8 million unexpectedly. Comments on her latest post, showing her on vacation with Kourtney and Khloe, are full of references to the new song.</p>

<p><strong>What's the feud about?</strong><br />
<br />
In 2009, Kim's ex-husband Kanye West interrupted Taylor's VMAs acceptance speech, claiming she didn't deserve her award but Beyonce did. Later, in his 2016 song Famous, Kanye rapped about Taylor, which she objected to, calling it misogynistic.<br />
<br />
Kim defended Kanye on her show and posted clips of a phone call between Kanye and Taylor to prove that the singer had approved the song. However, another leaked video showed Kim and Kanye not giving Taylor full details about the song. Taylor referenced the incident in her 2017 album Reputation.<br />

The Tortured Poets Department has become the most-streamed album in a single day this year, according to Spotify. The album achieved the feat in less than 12 hours of its debut on the platform. <p>Taylor Swift brings immense financial gains to every city she arrives! 2023 was the year when the pop star helped boost the economies of several cities by simply adding them to their Eras Tour roster. Some economists call it "Swiftlation", while others simply refer to it as "The Taylor Swift Effect".</p>

<p>With the release of her latest album, <em>The Tortured Poets Department</em>, "The Taylor Swift Effect" is becoming more and more evident. Wondering how? Well, she recently named a London pub in her song and in no time, it started witnessing an unprecedented footfall from Swifties.</p>

Taylor Swift brings immense financial gains to every city she arrives! 2023 was the year when the pop star helped boost the economies of several cities by simply adding them to their Eras Tour roster. Some economists call it "Swiftlation", while others simply refer to it as "The Taylor Swift Effect". With the release of her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, "The Taylor Swift Effect" is becoming more and more evident. Wondering how? Well, she recently named a London pub in her song and in no time, it started witnessing an unprecedented footfall from Swifties. The lyrics of Taylor's song "The Black Dog" read, "I am someone who until recent events you shared your secrets with and your location. You forgot to turn it off. And so I watch as you walk into some bar called The Black Dog." Taylor Swift fans scammed for over $1.2 million for Eras Tour tickets

<p>Old scores aren't settled yet for Taylor Swift? The singer created quite a buzz on the internet on Friday as she released her 11th studio album<em> The Tortured Poets Department.</em> Fans quickly got busy deciphering the lyrics of her latest tracks and finding connections to Joe Alwyn and other exes of Swift. Some even felt that Swift's words may have been aimed&nbsp;at Kim Kardashian.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
After releasing the 16-song track volume&nbsp;album, Swift announced a surprise expansion and anthology of The Tortured Poets Department with 15 additional songs.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The 24th track on the album, ThanK, aIMee has now made fans speculate whether the singer is referring to Kim and taking a jibe&nbsp;at her.<br />
&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/unveiling-kanye-west-taylor-swift-kim-kardashian-saga-a-comprehensive-summary-667296">Unveiling Kanye West-Taylor Swift-Kim Kardashian saga: A comprehensive summary</a><br />
<br />
In one of the parts, the singer croons, "There's a bronze spray-tanned statue of you and a plaque underneath it / That threatens to push me down the stairs, at our school," a song about a mean schoolgirl.</p>

<p><strong>Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian feud</strong><br />
<br />
The tiff between Swift and Kim dates back to 2016 when Kim Kardashian's then-husband, Kanye West, released the song Famous, which included lyrics claiming Kanye made Taylor Swift famous.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
There was speculation that Swift had approved the lyrics- a fact that she denied later.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/double-surprise-taylor-swift-releases-15-extra-songs-as-part-2-of-the-tortured-poets-department-712995">Double surprise! Taylor Swift releases 15 extra songs as part 2 of The Tortured Poets Department</a><br />
<br />
In response, Kim had released an edited, recorded phone call between the artists on social media which seemingly proved the opposite and Swift wrong.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the second part of thanK you aIMee, Taylor references Kim's 10-year-old daughter North, who is known for being active on TikTok alongside her mother. She sings, “And so I changed your name, and any real defining clues / And one day, your kid comes home singin' a song that only us two is gonna know is about you.”<br />
<br />
<strong>Fans react&nbsp;</strong><br />
<br />
I DID NOT HAVE TAYLOR SWIFT GAGGING KIM KARDASHIAN ON MY 2024 BINGO CARD OMFG?????” A fan wrote on X. Others chimed in too, “taylor swift just made a diss track about kim kardashian in 2024.” “kim kardashian tomorrow when she wakes up to north singing thanK you alMee.”</p>

<p>"she said f** the leakers, here is something for the double album truthers, fuck kim kardashian, f*** the drugs, f***&nbsp;the cigarettes, f** that dumb, ball boy come here, i look good in a skin tight mini skirt like SHE JUST KEEPS GOING.”<br />
<br />
Last year, after winning the Person of The Year Award from Time Magazine, Taylor spoke candidly about how Kim and Kanye's actions had affected her.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year.The pop star then added, “I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard."</p>

After releasing the 16-song track volume album, Swift announced a surprise expansion and anthology of The Tortured Poets Department with 15 additional songs. The 24th track on the album, ThanK, aIMee has now made fans speculate whether the singer is referring to Kim and taking a jibe at her. Unveiling Kanye West-Taylor Swift-Kim Kardashian saga: A comprehensive summary In one of the parts, the singer croons, "There's a bronze spray-tanned statue of you and a plaque underneath it / That threatens to push me down the stairs, at our school," a song about a mean schoolgirl. Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian feud The tiff between Swift and Kim dates back to 2016 when Kim Kardashian's then-husband, Kanye West, released the song Famous, which included lyrics claiming Kanye made Taylor Swift famous. There was speculation that Swift had approved the lyrics- a fact that she denied later. Double surprise! Taylor Swift releases 15 extra songs as part 2 of The Tortured Poets Department In response, Kim had released an edited, recorded phone call between the artists on social media which seemingly proved the opposite and Swift wrong. In the second part of thanK you aIMee, Taylor references Kim's 10-year-old daughter North, who is known for being active on TikTok alongside her mother. She sings, “And so I changed your name, and any real defining clues / And one day, your kid comes home singin' a song that only us two is gonna know is about you.” Fans react I DID NOT HAVE TAYLOR SWIFT GAGGING KIM KARDASHIAN ON MY 2024 BINGO CARD OMFG?????” A fan wrote on X. Others chimed in too, “taylor swift just made a diss track about kim kardashian in 2024.” “kim kardashian tomorrow when she wakes up to north singing thanK you alMee.” "she said f** the leakers, here is something for the double album truthers, fuck kim kardashian, f*** the drugs, f*** the cigarettes, f** that dumb, ball boy come here, i look good in a skin tight mini skirt like SHE JUST KEEPS GOING.” Last year, after winning the Person of The Year Award from Time Magazine, Taylor spoke candidly about how Kim and Kanye's actions had affected her. "That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year.The pop star then added, “I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard."
