Sonam Kapoor receives death threats amid nepotism debate

<p>TV actor Mahesh Shetty, who was close friends with Sushant Singh Rajput has opened up about the late actor four days after his tragic death.<br />

Rajput had reportedly dialed Shetty's number last before he died by suicide on Sunday morning. Shetty had requested for privacy soon after the actor's death but on Thursday the actor wrote an emotional note for Rajput and shared a throwback photo with him.<br />

Sushant Singh Rajput's friend TV actor Mahesh Shetty pens an emotional note: 'How I wish that call had come through'

<p>Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case has now grabbed headlines in the country with debates picking momentum on mental health and nepotism. In connection with his suicide, his rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was interrogated&nbsp;by the local Mumbai police.</p>

<p>The interrogation went on for over 9 hours and the actress was accompanied by her father.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rumoured to be in a relationship with plans of getting married, Rhea was reportedly asked to show phone records to the police. According to a media report: "Rhea was asked to show all the text messages exchanged between the two. Her entire phone was scanned, including all their pictures and videos together. Rhea spoke about living in with Sushant and also revealed that they were planning to buy a property as well. She admitted that they did plan to get married by the end of 2020.”</p>

<p>The interrogation also revealed that the two had an alleged breakup over a fight. Rhea and Sushant were living together at his Carter Road penthouse which he had rented along with his friend, Siddharth Pitani. But she decided to move out with her bags just a few days before Sushant’s death.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When police raised suspicion on her moving out, Rhea told them that she had a fight and she left. “She showed the text messages exchanged after that between her and Sushant and also told them that they did speak over calls."&nbsp;</p>

He called him back but it didn't get connected," call records suggested.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sushant was reportedly diagnosed with clinical depression and Rhea was the only person who he was with at all times.</p>

<p>Sushant and Rhea were supposed to begin work for Rumi Jaffrey's next but due to coronavirus scare the film was stalled.&nbsp;</p>

'We only work with stars, can't work with you': Karan Johar's office had told Ayushmann Khurrana in his early days in Bollywood

<p>As a virtual cold war ensues between different factions within the Indian entertainment industry over the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Bollywood’s Saif Ali Khan spoke about stars pretending to care over his death.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He slammed the celebs and called the death of Sushant Singh Rajput “awful” but hit out at those “talking rubbish” in the midst of this tragedy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In an interview he said, “There are so many people who’ve made comments so quickly. And it just seems to me that people are somewhere gaining some mileage from this poor fellow’s tragedy, you know, whether it’s to show compassion or to show interest or to show some political stance. So many people are talking rubbish in this nonstop kind of barrage on social media and it’s just embarrassing, really, I think.”</p>

<p>“Out of respect for him, for Sushant’s tragedy, maybe a day of silence or introspection would be a little more becoming than this outpouring of love – an outpouring of love from people who obviously didn’t care about him and people who famously don’t care about anybody else,” he said.</p>

<p>Saif pointed out that the industry as a whole is famously competitive and thus pretending to care is an “insult” to Sushant Singh Rajput. “I mean, we don’t care about anybody. You know, it’s a very cutthroat line of work. But to pretend that you do care is like the ultimate hypocrisy and I think that’s an insult to the dead, you know, it’s an insult to the soul that’s gone,” he said.</p>

<p>“We live in an age where people write 10 lines for you on Twitter and will walk past you on the street - won’t even touch you or shake your hand. You know, you get wished for your birthday, but people don’t actually call you. There’s no contact. People are failing people constantly. Everyone talking about him, even those saying who failed you or didn’t fail you is, I think, somewhat exploiting his name. To take any stand at the moment, apart from just sorrow, and just saying that I’m really sad that he had no way out except this - any other comment is somewhere manipulating the situation, I feel. You have come across this as an opportunity to take a shot at somebody, and you’re taking a shot,” he added.</p>

<p>On &nbsp;not taking any sides, Saif added, “These are the wrong comments to make now. I mean, you can say, listen, it’s just really bad, what happened. It’s really sad that this is the only way he could see out. But to blame anybody or to you know, draw these camps out, this is pathetic. I think it’s a function of lockdown plus social media. And it’s sad that film people can’t think beyond films. We will all assume that this terrible thing happened to him because of his films. There is more to life. <p>In a statement, they said, "It's our way of honouring him and his craft, everything he has done and achieved, to celebrate him and everything he stands for. As friends it gives us something to hold on to.”</p>

<p>Abhishek and Sushant go a long way as he had even directed the latter’s debut film, ‘Kai Po Che’’ that was released in 2013. They reunited for ‘Kedarnath’ in 2018.&nbsp;</p>

The eight celebrities who have been named in the complaint are Karan Johar, Salman Khan, Aditya Chopra, Sajid Nadiadwala, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Ekta Kapoor and director Dinesh Vijan.<br />
Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha alleged that the eight personalities conspired against Sushant, leading to his suicide, which he pleaded amounted to murder.<br />

Ojha has filed a complaint under Sections 306, 109, 504 and 506 of IPC. The hearing is scheduled to take place on July 3 in Muzaffarpur, Bihar's local court.<br />

Ojha further alleged that the people did not let Sushant's movie get released and the late actor was not even invited to film functions because of these people.<br />

<p>The death of rising Hindi filmstar Sushant Singh Rajput has fuelled a fresh discussion about mental health in India and suicide as a leading cause of death for young Indians.</p>

<p>The mental health issues are estimated to affect 15 crore Indians, less than a fifth - 3 crore - are seeking the care of one form or another.</p>

<p>According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), 1,34,516 people committed suicide in the year 2018.</p>

<p>And there are various reasons behind these suicides from academic pressure to money, relationship, abuse and violence. But what unifies most of the suicide cases is stress and depression.</p>

<p>And neither stress nor depression is new to India. Stress has been an integral part of Indians' life and Indians' natural ability to cope with it was once a matter of pride.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But in recent years, mental health has become a troubling issue for India. At least 1 in 20 Indians today has a history of depression and 15% of Indians suffer from a mental health issue.</p>

<p>Suicides, especially by the young Indians are a growing concern.</p>

<p>The NCRB data shows that 10,159 students died by suicide in 2018, an increase from 9,905 in 2017, and 9,478 in 2016.</p>

<p>Poverty due to failed agrarian system is also one of the major reasons behind suicides in India.</p>

<p>According to the NCRB, 10,349 persons involved in farming sector (consisting of 5,763 farmers or cultivators and 4,586 agricultural labourers) committed suicides during 2018, accounting for 7.7% of total suicides victims.</p>

<p>“Out of 5,763 farmer or cultivator suicides, 5,457 were male and 306 were female during 2018. Out of 4,586 suicides committed by agricultural labourers during 2018, 4,071 were male and 515 were female, the report stated.</p>

<p>According to one study, &nbsp;at least 82% of Indians are suffering from stress because of work, health or finances. India has the highest suicide rate in South East Asia. At least 338 Indians have killed themselves during the coronavirus lockdown.</p>

The mental health issues are estimated to affect 15 crore Indians, less than a fifth - 3 crore - are seeking the care of one form or another. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), 1,34,516 people committed suicide in the year 2018. And there are various reasons behind these suicides from academic pressure to money, relationship, abuse and violence. But what unifies most of the suicide cases is stress and depression. And neither stress nor depression is new to India. Stress has been an integral part of Indians' life and Indians' natural ability to cope with it was once a matter of pride. But in recent years, mental health has become a troubling issue for India. At least 1 in 20 Indians today has a history of depression and 15% of Indians suffer from a mental health issue. Suicides, especially by the young Indians are a growing concern. The NCRB data shows that 10,159 students died by suicide in 2018, an increase from 9,905 in 2017, and 9,478 in 2016. Poverty due to failed agrarian system is also one of the major reasons behind suicides in India. According to the NCRB, 10,349 persons involved in farming sector (consisting of 5,763 farmers or cultivators and 4,586 agricultural labourers) committed suicides during 2018, accounting for 7.7% of total suicides victims. “Out of 5,763 farmer or cultivator suicides, 5,457 were male and 306 were female during 2018. Out of 4,586 suicides committed by agricultural labourers during 2018, 4,071 were male and 515 were female, the report stated. According to one study, at least 82% of Indians are suffering from stress because of work, health or finances. India has the highest suicide rate in South East Asia. At least 338 Indians have killed themselves during the coronavirus lockdown. 'Shocked and speechless': Bollywood mourns Sushant Singh Rajput's death

<p>On Sunday, Bollywood bid adieu to one of its brightest stars, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/sushant-singh-rajput-dies-by-suicide-reports-305754">Sushant Singh Rajput</a> who died by suicide. The actor upcoming movie 'Dil Bechara' will be his last film. The film was earlier scheduled to hit the theatres on May 8, but got postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.<br />

The film is a remake of the popular Hollywood film 'The Fault in Our Stars' and reports state that post-production work of the movie is still left. &nbsp;Apart from Sushant, 'Dil Bechara' features newcomer Sanjana Sanghi and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles. AR Rahman has composed the music of the movie.<br />

Apart from Sushant, 'Dil Bechara' features newcomer Sanjana Sanghi and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles. AR Rahman has composed the music of the movie. <p>Bollywood lost one of its promising actors yesterday as Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide at the age of 34. As posts of tribute poured in from various entertainment industries, Sara Ali Khan who debuted alongside Sushant in ‘Kedarnath’ shared a sweet post for him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Her first co-star, Sushant Singh Rajput was also rumoured to have dated her while they shot for the film.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After Sushant was found hanging in his Bandra apartment, Sara shared a BTS photo of them from their ‘Kedarnath’ set in which both the actors laughed over something.</p>

<p>Sushant was found hanging at his home by his domestic help, who alerted the police, IANS reports. A team of police officials rushed to his house to investigate. No suicide note has been found, the police said.</p>

<p>The last rites will be performed after his father and other family members arrive in Mumbai from Patna tomorrow. Sara Ali Khan mourns the loss of her first co-star Sushant Singh Rajput

<p>Shah Rukh Khan joined other Bollywood celebrities on Sunday to mourn Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely demise. The actor<a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/sushant-singh-rajput-dies-by-suicide-reports-305754"> died by suicide at his Mumbai flat on Sunday afternoon.</a><br />

Khan shared a throwback photo with Rajput and wrote, "He loved me so much...I will miss him so much. His energy, enthusiasm, and his full happy smile. May Allah bless his soul and my condolences to his near and dear ones. This is extremely sad....and so shocking!!," the tweet read.</p>

<p>Sushant was known to be a big fan of Shah Rukh and was often compared to him as both the actors made a successful transition from the small screen to Bollywood without any Godfathers in the film industry.<br />

No suicide note has been recovered from Rajput`s residence, as per the police and further investigation is underway. As per the latest development, the body of the actor is brought to Dr RN Cooper Municipal General Hospital from his residence in Bandra.<br />

The actor, who rose to fame with the 2008 television series `Pavitra Rishta,` made his Bollywood debut with Abhishek Kapoor`s `Kai Po Che` in 2013.<br />
<br />
One widely loved actor for his simplicity and humble nature, the actor gave hit movies to the entertainment industry, including MS Dhoni`s biopic, where he played the cricketer on screen.<br />
<br />
The star was last seen in Nitish Tiwari`s `Chhichhore,` alongside Shraddha Kapoor in 2019.</p>

According to Mumbai police sources, the actor was reportedly suffering from depression as the cops have found medical papers and anti-depressant pills from his house. "Police will be contacting Rajput's doctor and record his statement to know what type of medicines he was taking and what problem he was facing," they said.</p>

<p>As per the initial investigation yesterday, no suicide note was found from the actor's house. The police also do not suspect any foul play so far.</p>

<p>However, the actor’s family in Patna, Bihar are demanding a CBI probe into the death of their son. Sushant Singh Rajput's maternal uncle is alleging that the actor has been murdered and has appealed for a CBI probe into the incident from the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi.</p>

<p>"This is a case of murder. The youth of Bihar and the Rajput Mahasabha demands a CBI enquiry into the incident. We demand a CBI enquiry from Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi into the murder," said Sushant Singh Rajput's maternal uncle RC Singh.</p>

<p>The actor's last rites will be held today.</p>
