The smugglers used a satellite internet device to navigate deep seas and to bring meth worth $4.25 billion inside the Indian waters for the first time.&nbsp;

The police made their biggest seizure as they uncovered more than 6,000 kg of meth in the remote outpost of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands last week in Myanmar.&nbsp;

He added that he has planned to get details from Starlink, like who purchased the device along with its usage history. "They (smugglers) were using Starlink since their journey started from Myanmar," he added.

According to the estimate of Andaman and Nicobar police, the retail market value of seized meth was 360 billion rupees ($4.25 billion).

According to Dhaliwal, the smugglers used the Starlink Mini device, which has been described as "a compact, portable kit that can easily fit in a backpack" on its website.

The police have said that they are investigating if there is any involvement of local or foreign syndicates in the whole network.

As per a Spaceflight Now report, the presentation mentioned a Marslink constellation comprising “multiple SpaceX satellites placed in Mars orbit" which will "provide full visibility and interoperability for ground and orbital assets."

The company has been growing its internet constellation, with Starlink currently being operational in 102 countries. It recently launched its 7,000th Starlink satellite to orbit and is aiming to place a whopping 42,000 satellites in low Earth orbit.

China looks to rival Elon Musk's Starlink; launches 18 satellites

A Chinese state-owned enterprise on Tuesday successfully placed 18 satellites into orbit, state broadcaster CCTV reported, as China seeks to create its own version of US&nbsp;firm SpaceX's Starlink network.

The launch of the low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites by Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology (SSST) took place at Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in the northern Shanxi province.

The satellites were carried aboard a Long March 6 rocket and represent the first batch in SSST's "Thousand Sails Constellation" plan, CCTV reported.

The state-backed plan is one of China's answers to Starlink, SpaceX's growing commercial broadband constellation that has about 5,500 LEO satellites in space to provide near-global internet to consumers, companies and government agencies.

Starlink is a subsidiary of U.S. entrepreneur Elon Musk's SpaceX space company.

LEO satellites usually operate at altitudes of 300km to 2,000km from the Earth's surface and have the advantage of being cheaper and providing more efficient transmission than satellites at higher orbits.

Control over the satellites that occupy these altitudes has significant military implications.

Since 2022, when the Ukraine war demonstrated the importance of Starlink to battlefield communications, media affiliated with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) have published several editorials about the threat Starlink poses to China's interests.
