After this, Naidu immediately cancelled his local public meeting and visited the hospital to express his condolences.&nbsp;

According to the Twitter post by the TDP, Naidu has announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakhs ($12,084) to the families of the deceased. Also, his party will be providing education for&nbsp;the children of the victims in NTR Trust&nbsp;institutions.&nbsp;

Gujarat's&nbsp;Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had expressed condolences to the families and announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakhs ($4900) for the families of the deceased and Rs 49,000 ($600) for the injured.

At least 90% of the victims had been identified by midday, with delays affecting some foreign nationals and teenagers who did not yet have identification cards, the Interior Ministry said.

Makeshift memorials began appearing near the site, with onlookers leaving flowers and notes.

President Yoon expressed condolences for the victims and his wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured in one of the South Korea's worst disasters and the world's worst stampedes in decades.

"This is truly tragic," he said in a statement, vowing an investigation into the cause of the disaster. "A tragedy and disaster that should not have happened took place in the heart of Seoul last night."

Yellow-jacketed policemen formed a cordon around the site of the crush, with rescue officials loading victims -- some of whom were covered with blankets or other coverings -- into ambulances.

Around two dozen people were entirely covered by makeshift blankets on the roadside.

On Sunday, South Korea's President Yoon Suk-yeol ordered a thorough investigation saying that the deadly stampede at the Halloween event "should not have happened".

"In the centre of Seoul, a tragedy and disaster occurred that should not have happened," Yoon said in a national address, vowing to "thoroughly investigate" the incident and ensure it never&nbsp;happens again.

He also announced a period of national mourning and ordered the lowering of flags.

“The government will designate the period from today until the accident is brought under control as a period of national mourning and will place top priority in administrative affairs in recovery and follow-up measures.”

According to reports, the tragedy took place around 5 am at the entrance of the temple where people were gathered for a monthly fair in the Sikar region, about 115 km from the state capital of Jaipur.

According to ANI news agency, the incident occurred at the Khatu Shyamji Temple. Among those who were injured, two people were referred to a hospital in the state capital.

“The death of 3 women devotees due to stampede in Khatushyam ji's temple in Sikar is very sad and unfortunate. My deepest sympathies are with the bereaved family, may God give them strength to bear this loss and may the departed soul rest in peace," he tweeted in Hindi.

The Khatu Shyamji temple is one of the most important pilgrim destinations in Rajasthan and draws huge crowds every year, especially in the month of monsoon according to the Hindu calendar.

Images shared on social media, which Reuters could not immediately authenticate, showed a panicked crowd trying to squeeze through a narrow entrance gate at the newly built Olembe stadium in Yaounde that was hosting a round of 16 game between Cameroon and Comoros. 
One video showed dozens of fans scrambling over the stadium fence as a police officer walked by.

The stampede comes as a heavy blow for the tournament, which had grown in excitement on the pitch in recent days thanks to some match upsets but which was under scrutiny for a lack of readiness beforehand. 
COVID-19 and insecurity caused by a separatist insurgency also complicated preparations. Work on the 60,000-seat Olembe Stadium continued right up to the start of Africa`s top soccer tournament, prompting the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the continent`s soccer governing body, to hold an emergency meeting to discuss cancelling the competition altogether.

High school teacher Vanessa Tchouanzi had come to see the match on Monday. She was barely able to get her words out as she recounted her experience over the phone to Reuters. 
Tchouanzi tried to enter the stadium with a friend, but said that gate attendees were too overwhelmed by the mass of people to check tickets. As fans rushed the entrance, Tchouanzi and her friend were knocked to the ground. A bystander helped Tchouanzi escape, but her friend was trampled to death, she said.

"She couldn`t take the shock, the weight of all those people," Tchouanzi said through a flood of tears. 
The government did not give any information on the cause of the crush or whether fans were allowed into the stadium without tickets. It is not clear why the match went ahead after the disaster. "We saw a group of men with cutlasses and other weapons coming toward the crowd," Morias said. "While running, some people dropped and others fell on the ground and walked over them."

Bands of Liberian street gangs known as Zogos commonly commit robberies with machetes and other small weapons.

Police spokesman Moses Carter declined to comment on what caused the incident. He said an investigation is under way.

President George Weah, who is expected to visit the site on Thursday afternoon, declared a three-day period of national mourning and said the Liberian Red Cross and Disaster Management Agency had been called in to assist victims, his office said.
