<p>“Worked on a few things, and on a surface like this with a bit of spice, if you're going after the ball, might as well go after it really hard like Rishabh does. It's an old Chennai surface with a bit of bounce and carry. The red soil pitch allows you to play a few shots if you are willing to just get in line and give it a bit of a tonk when there's width,” Ashwin continued.</p>

<p>He further mentioned, "They used to release videos - they did it in front of me when Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja had a heated exchange with each other while standing in the 30-yard circle. The broadcasters amped up the stump mic as they were abusing each other. They cut the clip and shared it with the press in front of me. After that, when we were talking off the field, I was like, what are we actually trying to achieve because it's nothing? Then Ricky (Ponting) was there with us, and he said that 'making a mountain out of a molehill'. The moment he went into the air, he tore into the Indian team, and I was stunned that he had just said something else a few minutes back."</p>

<p>Considering Jadeja, 35, is approaching the fag end of his career, at least in the ODIs, the selectors are keen on trying Axar Patel in his place, looking at him as a long-term backup option in white-ball cricket.</p>

Ravindra Jadeja announces retirement from T20Is after India’s World Cup victory

<p>Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has put down five conditions before accepting the offer to become Team India’s new head coach. Per the latest reports, the two-time World Cup winner was among the two candidates, alongside former women’s team coach WV Raman, whom BCCI interviewed (as Rahul Dravid’s replacement) for India’s all-format coach. Should he get picked, Gambhir will begin his three-and-a-half-year tenure with the away Sri Lanka series in July.</p>

<p>Per Navbharat Times, Gambhir has laid five conditions, which include that he wants complete control of cricket operations in the Indian Team. Secondly, Gambhir has informed the board that he will pick his backroom staff, for whom he is said to have contacted fielding great Jonty Rhodes earlier.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the fielder arrived on the ball early and released it to wicketkeeper Sanju Samson. Jadeja, meanwhile, set off for the second run, only to be sent back by skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad who had no interest in taking the extra run. Stranded in the middle of the pitch, Jadeja turned and attempted to&nbsp;make a late dash to the crease.</p>

<p>Samson, upon collecting the ball took a shy at the non-striker's&nbsp;stump but only managed to hit Jadeja who was running in front of the stumps. The umpires went upstairs where the third umpire, after multiple replays, concluded that Jadeja had indeed changed his path deliberately to avoid getting runout.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While it looked like Jadeja had no choice to turn around and run in the trajectory he followed, third umpire Anil Chaudhary asserted that the CSK batter had looked behind for the throw from Samson and adjusted his position accordingly.</p>

On the fourth ball, Bhuvi bowled a yorker and&nbsp;Jadeja&nbsp;somewhat dug it out. As he came out of the crease, Bhuvi sensed it as an opportunity to dismiss him.&nbsp;Jadeja, however, came in the line of the throw.</p>

<p>This raised eyebrows as SRH wicketkeeper&nbsp;Heinrich Klaasen realised it was a chance to dismiss Jadeja. The umpires even referred it upstairs to check if it was deliberate from Jaddu, however,&nbsp;skipper Cummins withdrew&nbsp;the&nbsp;appeal.</p>
