Talking to the media while leaving for Tuticorin which is engulfed with violence since several days, Rajinikanth said, “I don’t know the reason for that (film being banned). I only came to know about it yesterday.”</p>

<p>He also added that hoped that the South Indian Film Chamber will step in and take all the necessary steps in the matter and help him release "Kaala"&nbsp;in Karnataka.</p>

<p>For those who are unaware, the movie has been banned in Karnataka after Rajinikanth took a controversial stand which was against the state during the Cauvery issue. During the ongoing Cauvery issue, Rajinikanth had mentioned, “Centre will face Tamil Nadu wrath if it fails to set up CMB (Cauvery Management Board) plunge.” This did not go down well with the people of Karnataka and hence, the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce (KFCC) has decided to ban the movie.</p>

<p>The President of the KFCC, G. Parameshwara, mentioned to the media, “As an actor, he always handled issues on Cauvery in a diplomatic way. But when he entered politics and formed a party, he made a direct attack on us, which has not gone down well with Karnataka. It is a question of our prestige and we want to keep our word. We will not allow his film to be released here.”</p>

<p>As many as 13 people lost their lives in an anti-Sterlite protest which turned violent after a clash broke out between the protestors and the local police.</p>

<p>The locals were protesting for the closure of the factory for 99 days when the protests took a violent turn on May 22, the 100th day of their stir.&nbsp</p>

<p>On Monday the government directed the permanent closure of the Sterlite copper smelting plant in Thoothukudi.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the anti-Sterlite protest case has been transferred to crime branch CID &nbspafter an order by the Tamil Nadu's director general of police, TK Rajendran.</p>

<p>South Indian superstar Rajinikanth proves yet again that he is an invincible force when it comes to his acting skills. Returning as the mob boss Kaala Karikaala in the trailer of “Kaala” on Monday, Rajinikanth pulls off a great start with the one-and-a-half-minute video becoming viral within half an hour of its release.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dhanush whose Wanderbar Films produces the film, shared the trailer on YouTube and wrote: "It's finally time, the king arrives in style! Presenting to you, our Superstar Rajinikanth's, much anticipated “Kaala” trailer."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Makers of the film described the superstar’s character as the "King of Dharavi" and you will know why only if you watch the trailer. The trailer begins with a top shot of Dharavi, which is believed to be the biggest slum in Asia, followed by a quick introduction to Nana Patekar, who plays a politician and the antagonist in the film.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"If there is water in Karnataka it is possible for us to give them water. I request Rajinikanth, please come and see the situation in our dams, what has happened to our farmers. After seeing that, if you (Rajinikanth) still want water, let's discuss," PTI quoted Kumaraswamy as saying.</p>

Kumaraswamy attacks Rajinikanth over comments on Cauvery issue

<p>Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth on Sunday hailed the turn of events in the Karnataka assembly, terming them a "win for democracy".</p>

<p>He also criticised the 15-day time given to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala to prove majority on the floor of the house as "mockery of democracy."</p>

<p>Addressing reporters after meeting the women’s wing of his Rajini Makkal Mandram, the actor termed the subsequent developments in Karnataka, wherein BS Yeddyurappa resigned as CM without a floor test, as a “win for democracy”. BJP asking for some more time and Governor giving 15 days time was a mockery of democracy. I would like to thank Supreme Court for its order, which upheld the democracy," Rajinikanth said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Further, on contesting elections in 2019, the Tamil superstar said the decision will be taken after the elections are announced.</p>

<p>"The decision for contesting elections in 2019 will be taken at the time when the elections are announced. The party is not yet launched, but we are ready for anything. Also, it is too early to talk about any kind of alliance," he added.</p>

<p>Yesterday, the Karnataka government led by BS&nbsp;Yeddyurappa resigned before going in for the floor test in the Vidhan Soudha.</p>

Rajinikanth said he was wary of 'Kochadaiyaan' failure after watching the film's final version.<br />

"Soundarya is a genius. Working with intelligent people is easy. But, we should be careful with geniuses. She listed out a post-production budget to enhance the film's final version. But, I was sure that this film wouldn't be successful. So, I insisted on releasing the film with the same version," he told reporters yesterday.<br />

About "Lingaa", Rajinikanth said that he agreed to do the film as the subplot of interlinking rivers was a dream come true on-screen.<br />

"I agreed to the story because the main story revolved around building a dam and interlinking of rivers was also a subplot. Interlinking of rivers is my lifetime dream, so I gave my nod immediately. However, the film flunked at the box-office. Critics, in no time, wrote me off. They have been doing that for 40 years of my career. But, I bounced back every single time," he said.<br />

The actor said it was Soundarya who introduced him to director Pa Ranjith. They first collaborated on 'Kabali' in 2016.<br />

"I instantly liked him when I met him for the first time for 'Kabali'. But, when he narrated the story, I was sceptical about the sluggishly-paced screenplay and asked my producer Thanu to watch the film. He was jumping with joy after listening to the story. So, I nodded, and the film emerged a success."<br />

Rajinikanth revealed that it was he who suggested the idea of 'Kaala' to Ranjith.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
"First, I listened to a script from Vetrimaaran ('Visaaranai' director). He narrated a fantastic script, but it was politically-driven. I was not planning to make my political foray then. So, I wanted to do a different film. Then, I called Ranjith and told him about the slums in Dharavi and the Tamil population who are residing there for years."<br />
<br />
The actor, who announced his political plunge on New Year's eve, clarified that the film is not political in nature.<br />
<br />
"I warned Ranjith that 'Kaala' should be a Rajinikanth film in Ranjith's style unlike 'Kabali' which was a Ranjith movie. There's politics in 'Kaala' but it's not a political drama. Ranjith is a great human being who cares for his community and his people a lot."<br />

The actor said the director camped in Dharavi slums for weeks to do research on the film.<br />

Rajinikanth also praised his "Kaala" co-star Nana Patekar, comparing his performance to his powerful on-screen adversaries Raghuvaran and Ramya Krishnan.<br />

"In my entire career, only two actors challenged me as villain in my films. One is Raghuvaran's character of Mark Antony in 'Baasha' and Ramya Krishnan's portrayal of Neelambari in 'Padaiyappa.' <p>As Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Chennai, actor Kamal Haasan released a video on Twitter where he sought justice for Tamil Nadu on the Cauvery issue.</p>

<p>"People of Tamil Nadu are fighting for justice. Justice has been given but it is not being executed. People have started to believe that this delay is due to Karnataka elections, and your interest in it. I want this belief to be dispelled for people are more important than elections," Haasan said in his video.</p>

<p>"With your previous experiment with Narmada Water Authority, you could easily deliver the justice that Tamil Nadu is asking," Haasan said. "Please do justice with Tamil Nadu and Karnataka," he added in nearly 2-minute-long video.</p>

<p>They were known to be friends and superstar Rajinikanth had expressed shock when the news of Sridevi&#39;s demise came. The actor had even flown down to Mumbai to offer his last respects to the Kapoor family even before Sridevi&#39;s mortal remains were brought back to India from Dubai.<br />

<p>Actor Kamal Haasan, who began his political journey from the birthplace of former president A P J Abdul Kalam has never dabbled in politics, unlike the other superstars who have been in and out politics for the last 20 years. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The two superstars of Tamil filmdom kickstarting their respective political journey, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel for Tamil Nadu. Though there have always been rumours swirling around Rajinikanth entering politics, both the actors clearly stated that it&#39;s &#39;&#39;compulsion of time&rdquo; that made them enter politics.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kamal Haasan, like Rajinikanth, has a mass. He is a superstar like Messi in their own domain. But the toughest task for the Makkal Needi Maiam (MNM) and Kamal Haasan is how he and his party play their part in the second half.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kamal Haasan has his task cut out. The actor has to dribble and often take the ball and shimmy past some strong defenders such as DMK and AIADMK to score. Not an easy task. The actor-turned-politician may or may not succeed. <p>On Monday, <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-forensic-results-out-sridevi-died-of-accidental-drowning-report-34121">Dubai Police released the forensic report </a>which determined that Sridevi&#39;s death was due to accidental drowning. While there is no official word on when the last rites of the actress would be conducted, reports suggest that the body will be brought back to Mumbai on Tuesday morning.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The case dates back to the time when Ad Bureau had given Media One a loan of Rs 10 crore to produce <em>Kochadaiiyaan</em> in April 2014 to finish post-production work. Latha Rajinikanth had signed as a guarantor for the loan at that time. Ad Bureau had later claimed that Media One still owed it Rs 6.2 crore and filed a legal case against them.<br />

<p><em>Kochadaiiyaan</em>&nbsp;starred Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone and was directed by Rajinikanth&#39;s younger daughter Saundarya.&nbsp;</p>
