Rajinikanth is clueless about Kaala’s ban in Karnataka, hopes for South Indian Film Chamber's help for release

Rajinikanth’s “Kaala” has now gotten embroiled in a controversy as the film was announced banned yesterday in Karnataka. The decision came as a shock to many and mostly the Thalaiva himself who was taken aback.

The superstar, when asked for the reason behind this ban said he was clueless. Talking to the media while leaving for Tuticorin which is engulfed with violence since several days, Rajinikanth said, “I don’t know the reason for that (film being banned). I only came to know about it yesterday.”

He also added that hoped that the South Indian Film Chamber will step in and take all the necessary steps in the matter and help him release "Kaala"in Karnataka.

For those who are unaware, the movie has been banned in Karnataka after Rajinikanth took a controversial stand which was against the state during the Cauvery issue. During the ongoing Cauvery issue, Rajinikanth had mentioned, “Centre will face Tamil Nadu wrath if it fails to set up CMB (Cauvery Management Board) plunge.” This did not go down well with the people of Karnataka and hence, the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce (KFCC) has decided to ban the movie.

The President of the KFCC, G. Parameshwara, mentioned to the media, “As an actor, he always handled issues on Cauvery in a diplomatic way. But when he entered politics and formed a party, he made a direct attack on us, which has not gone down well with Karnataka. It is a question of our prestige and we want to keep our word. We will not allow his film to be released here.”
