"Traitors to the nation... the people who have taken shelter in Pakistan after being involved in terrorist activities (in India) are now trying to promote terrorism from there," Dilbag Singh, the Director-General of J&amp;K Police was quoted as saying by NDTV. He added that data about these militants was ready.

<h2>Action already started</h2>

Singh further added that the action had already been initiated in the Doda district, where at least 16 people who earlier took refuge in PoK have been declared proclaimed offenders.

Notably, properties of those accused of sheltering terrorists in Kashmir is also being attached, with officials clarifying that those who were forced or threatened to shelter terrorists will be spared from government action.

"I hope you will not give protection or support to such elements. The rest of the job will be done by the police and security forces. Don't give shelter. It is because of terrorism that people in J&amp;K have been living in fear for decades," Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Tuesday.

According to the intelligence wing of the J&amp;K police, a list has already been prepared featuring over 4,200 such terrorists living in PoK since 1990. The details of their properties have already been shared with the Inspector-General of Registrations and Revenue.

In 1990, thousands of youth crossed the Line of Control into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir for arms training. Pakistan trained all of them to later return to India and stage terror attacks.&nbsp;

Various news reports referred to a video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and said that locals gathered in large numbers in Skardu to express their anger against Pakistani government demanding immediate release of their leaders. Protesting locals have reportedly threatened Pakistan government with "civil war" and have even said that they would "merge with India" in case the demands are not met.

The video being referred to reportedly shows a local leader addressing a large crowd gathered near a mosque in the city. The leader can be heard saying that if Pakistan does not release leaders of the region and cease arresting them, the protesters would "smash the doors to Kargil", this us being interpreted as a threat to join India. The protesters blocked Karakoram highway

The video shows slogans being raised and vows of being unafraid being taken.&nbsp;

"We will go to Kargil and no one will be able to stop us," says the leader as the crowd cheers.&nbsp;

Media reports suggest that there has been an FIR against a Shia Muslim cleric. People are reportedly are not happy at the development. There is also resentment in Skardu over toughening of blasphemy law.

As per reports an FIR has been filed against Shia cleric Sheikh Bakir al-Husseini according to blasphemy law. It has been alleged that the cleric had made controversial comment against Prophet Mohammed. al-Husseini has denied the claims.

<h2>Is the Pak army escalating tensions?</h2>

The demonstrators also blocked roads and passages, alleging that it was the army and the intelligence agency ISI who were escalating tensions in the region by taking advantage of the sectarian divisions.

Such is the anger against the Pakistani administration and the army that locals are now openly saying what was considered blasphemy just a few months back—Rejoining India.

“If you give us pain, we will give you double the pain. There is no peace now. Peace will come when our lives will be secured. If we are not safe, no one else will be spared. I am saying this in the open, this place will not be opened for traffic till the time the government officials withdraw the FIR. They took action against our cleric. We want them to come and face us,” said Wazir Hasnain, a social worker in the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met in Beijing on Wednesday, where the talks centred around Islamabad’s economic crisis and the need to boost projects under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, according to the state media.

This is Sharif’s first official visit to China after taking charge earlier this year, and so is the case of Xi after recently concluding its twice-a-decade party congress where he was elected unopposed for third-term.

Both leaders met at the People’s Great Hall of China and discussed moving forward more with the construction of their economic corridor and accelerating the construction of infrastructure for the Gwadar Sea Port, state media reported.

Their conversation ranged on broad-based economic cooperation and investment, besides exchanging views on regional and global developments.

Shehbaz and Xi also discussed the need to further promote the 'all-weather strategic cooperation partnership' between the two nations.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hints at retrieving PoK under parliament resolution

Donald Blome, the United States' representative to Pakistan, visited Pakistan-occupied Kashmir this past week. In a statement, Bangladesh MoFA said, “Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically asserts that the Padma Multipurpose Bridge has been entirely funded by the Government of Bangladesh and no foreign funds from any bilateral or multilateral funding agency have financially contributed to its construction.”

The response came amid reports that the Padma Multipurpose Bridge has been constructed under the Chinese BRI and foreign funds.

According to the foreign ministry, the completion of the bridge— which is scheduled to open on June 25—will fulfil the dream of Bangladesh of connecting the 19 south-western districts to the rest of the country resulting in collective prosperity, socio-economic development of the country as well as enhanced regional connectivity.

The 6-km bridge, which is located about 40 kilometres south of Dhaka, is expected to boost trade and commerce in Bangladesh's southwest region and, according to official estimates, increase the country's GDP by 1.2 per cent.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the main construction work of the bridge in 2015. When completed it will be the largest bridge in Bangladesh and the first fixed river crossing for road traffic.

It will connect Louhajong, Munshiganj to Shariatpur and Madaripur, linking the south-west of the country, to northern and eastern regions.

Bangladesh denies Padma Bridge project being part of China’s Belt and Road Imitative

The whole Line of Control has been put on high alert and forces have increased the vigil along the border. The vigil has been increased in the hills as well as the forest area of the border. &nbsp;The Indian army says that every year the vigil is increased during this period.&nbsp;

Security forces say that Lashkar and Jaish terror outfits have been asked to intensify and carry out attacks. One of the reasons being increase in the anti-terrorist operations of the security forces in the Kashmir valley. Security forces say that these operations have weakened their roots and that's why Pakistan will push more terrorists into the Valley. However, the Indian Army has completely sealed the borders leaving no scope for Infiltration.

Terrorist launch pads have become active in PoK near the Line of Control

West Pakistan refugees Thursday danced to the beats of dholak to celebrate the second anniversary of the abrogation of articles 370 and 35-A which resulted in them gaining citizenship rights in Jammu and Kashmir.

Led by Pakistan Refugees Action Committee president Laba Ram Gandhi, the men, women and children from the community converged in the border area and danced amid slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

"We are celebrating it as our Independence Day by unfurling the Tricolour because real independence in Jammu and Kashmir came to us on August 5, 2019," Ram Gandhi told reporters here, referring to the day the Centre announced the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A and its decision to divide the erstwhile state into two union territories.

The refugees, who now enjoy the rights of a bonafide citizen, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

"We were living as unwanted citizens of Jammu and Kashmir. We had no rights, from voting to getting jobs. Now we are proud citizens of Jammu and Kashmir. Now our children will get all the rights," Ram Gandhi said.

Till August 5, 2019, the refugees were barred from voting in all elections except for parliamentary polls.

The refugees, who migrated from parts of West Punjab and Gujarat that are now in Pakistan, were also barred from government jobs, scholarships and admission in colleges, welfare schemes, and the right to own land.

The youths from the community are mostly illiterate and earn their livelihoods by working as labourers in agriculture fields in border belts of R S Pura, Samba, Hiranagar and Jammu, while the elderly work as domestic help.

After the scrapping of Article 370 on this day in 2019, West Pakistan refugees gained citizenship rights and can not only vote in local elections but also contest polls and enjoy all benefits as a citizen.

Like them, Valmikis also celebrated the day with joy and happiness.

They converged on the Valmiki temple complex and celebrated by raising pro-India slogans and thanked the prime minister for the decision.

Radical Gill, a Valmiki Samaj activist, said the abrogation of Article 370 came as a new lease of life to them. "We have got justice after many decades of the fight. We thank PM for this big decision. We can now become who we want to."

Another youth, Anadi Bhatti, said now he can become an advocate as article 370 is gone forever. "My dream will be fulfilled," he said.

At a presser on the August agenda of the United Nations Security Council, Tirumurti said, "Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inalienable part of India. If there needs to be a change in status, it is the vacation of Pakistan occupied Kashmir".&nbsp;

He was responding to a Pakistani journalist, who persistently raised Kashmir and India's abrogation of special status for the erstwhile state. As a custom, every UNSC president holds a presser on the first working day of the presidency. India, which is a non-permanent member of the UNSC for two years, holds the presidency this month.&nbsp;

'Pakistan needs to vacate PoK', says Indian Envoy to UN Tirumurti 

A protest erupted in Muzaffarabad city in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) against a "discriminatory and suppressive" legislation, which regularise an unspecified number of ad hoc, temporary and contractual employees.

Protestors hit the road and accused the government of nepotism, corruption, and working to further oppress the people of PoK.

The government in the region had earlier come up with the law addressing the years-long demands of regularisation of the contractual workers' jobs but the protestors said that only those who had allegiance or any other form of connection with the ruling party got the job.

The legislation by the occupied region "legislative assembly" was brought to regularise an unspecified number of ad hoc, temporary and contractual employees in the name of "humanity".

A petition has also been filed in the High Court of the region challenging the law.

The petitioners, who included five youth and two prominent civil society activists, said that the law was "inconsistent and in contravention" with the occupied region's 'Constitution' and had been passed in derogation of the UN Charter of Human Rights, Dawn reported.

Youth in Pakistan occupied Kashmir has been denied employment systematically over the years.

Even Pakistan's National Testing Service, which administers academic performance evaluation tests in Pakistan doesn't consider the youth of the region.

The protesters have vowed to continue their demonstrations until the law is rolled back by the government or is annulled by the court.

The unemployment rate in Pakistan occupied Kashmir is amongst the worst among the regions controlled by Islamabad.

The government in the region had earlier come up with the law addressing the years-long demands of regularisation of the contractual workers' jobs but the protestors said that only those who had allegiance or any other form of connection with the ruling party got the job. The legislation by the occupied region "legislative assembly" was brought to regularise an unspecified number of ad hoc, temporary and contractual employees in the name of "humanity". The petitioners, who included five youth and two prominent civil society activists, said that the law was "inconsistent and in contravention" with the occupied region's 'Constitution' and had been passed in derogation of the UN Charter of Human Rights, Dawn reported. Speaking at a press conference at Geneva on human rights violations in Pakistan and the occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir, he said UKPNP is opposed to the use of religion as a weapon and terrorism as a foreign policy tool. &nbsp;

He said the Article 257 constitution of Pakistan is a provision related to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, "when the people of the State of Jammu and Kashmir decide to accede to Pakistan, the relationship between Pakistan and that State shall be determined in accordance with the wishes of the people of that State." &nbsp;

According to a UN resolution, Pakistan is obligated to ensure life, liberty, the dignity of the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, he said. &nbsp;

The people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan do not enjoy any basic political rights. The government represses political freedom, and controls the freedom of expression, Kashmiri said. &nbsp;

He further said that anyone, who wants to take part in public life in the country, has to sign a pledge of loyalty to Pakistan while anyone, who publicly supports or worries about Kashmir, faces persecution. &nbsp;

Those, who favour independence, risk being beaten and jailed. Numerous political leaders of Kashmir have been forced to live in exile and face the threat of being eliminated or languish in jail. &nbsp;

Talking about a prominent political leader from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Sardar Arif Shahid, who was brutally killed in Rawalpindi seven years ago, Kashmiri said that the issue was raised several times at different forums including United Nations to put pressure on Pakistan for a judicial inquiry but no action has been taken yet.&nbsp;

In Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, nationalist leaders and political workers and human rights activists are being booked for sedition, he added.&nbsp;

Speaking about the China-Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC), he said, the project runs through disputed territories of Gilgit Baltistan and is a cause of environmental damage - air quality, water resources, and soil erosion.&nbsp;

Kashmiri also said that UKPNP demands that the Pakistan government must take immediate actions against security forces and agencies, who kidnap citizens of Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir and make arrangement for the immediate release of all those, who have disappeared.&nbsp;

UKPNP recommends that the Jammu and Kashmir issue must be resolved through a process of dialogue and peaceful means, he further said. &nbsp;

Qureshi was left red-faced after the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), holding its 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers in Niger`s Niamey, snubbed Pakistan by making no mention of Kashmir in its agenda. 
 
Despite the embarrassment, Qureshi, took the `Islamophobia` route to mention Kashmir in his speech, another wasted exercise, as the participating ministers remained focused on session`s theme "United against Terrorism for Peace and Development".

The OIC, through its Secretary General Yousef Al-Othaimeen, had made it aptly clear that the agenda of this year`s Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) session would include a list of topics and "issues of concern" to the Muslim world. 
 
"In addition to the Palestinian cause, the fight against violence, extremism and terrorism, Islamophobia and defamation of religious, the Council will discuss the situation of Muslim minorities and communities in non-member states, fundraising for the Rohingya case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), as well as the promotion of dialogue among civilizations, cultures and religions, and other emerging matters," the OIC, with a membership of 57 states spread over four continents, said in a statement released prior to the meeting. 
 
The much-expected agenda though came as a huge shocker for Pakistan which had for long been demanding a special OIC meeting on Kashmir.

"The meeting has not been convened so far because the Saudis, who wield a virtual veto in the 57-member bloc of Muslim countries, has not supported Islamabad`s move. The latest omission of Kashmir from the agenda of the regular foreign ministers` meeting comes at a time when ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia/UAE remain strained over what Pakistani diplomats say are `unfulfilled expectations`," Pakistan`s leading daily Dawn said in a report.

Qureshi was to face more embarrassment after landing in Niger along with Sardar Masood Khan, the former Pakistani Ambassador to the UN, who is now president of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). 
 
The duo referred Niger as a "brotherly Islamic country" and urged the founding member of the OIC to raise the Kashmir issue at the forum of African Union (AU) and various other international platforms. 
 
But, as the two-day session kicked off on Friday, neither Mahamadou Issoufou, President of the Republic of Niger, nor any other participating country diverted from the pre-decided agenda. 
 
OIC Secretary General Al-Othaimeen said that the choice of the theme for the session, "United against Terrorism for Peace and Development", is a strong reminder that "terrorism is the single most serious threat to the region and the world, given its negative impact on growth rates and cooperation ties, in addition to worsening Human Development Indices (HDI) ranking". 
 
He also valued the role assigned to the OIC Sawt al-Hikma (Voice of Wisdom) Center, which acts in coordination with the International Islamic Fiqh Academy to bring reason to bear and promote moderation and tolerance.
