Prime Minister Narendra Modi cautioned that although infiltration and external forces have historically posed risks to India's unity, the greater challenge today lies in demographic changes that threaten social equality. Speaking at the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in New Delhi on Wednesday, PM Modi emphasised India's strength rests in its “unity in diversity”. However, he warned that divisions fuelled by caste, language, regionalism, and extremist ideology could erode the country's foundation if left unchecked. "Social equality means establishing social justice by giving priority to the deprived and promoting national unity. Today, crises are emerging that directly attack our unity, culture, and security. Extremist thinking, regionalism, disputes over caste, language, and divisions instigated by external forces. All these countless challenges lie before us," he said.
PM Modi says social equality faces a major challenge
He added that unity in diversity has always remained the soul of India, warning that "if this principle is broken, the nation’s strength will also be weakened." While emphasising the need to continuously uphold and strengthen this value, PM Modi underscored that today, social equality faces a major challenge from demographic change rather than from infiltration. "Unity in diversity has always been India's soul. If this strength is broken, India will weaken... Social harmony faces a big threat from infiltrators causing a demographic shift. This question concerns our internal security and future. This is why I announced the Demographic Mission from the Red Fort. We need to stay alert and fight this challenge," he also said, news agency ANI reported.

Describing it as a matter linked to internal security and lasting peace, he said this was the reason he had launched the Demographic Mission from the Red Fort, urging citizens to stay alert and address the challenge with commitment. Prime Minister Modi added that, just as challenges have evolved, the nature of the nation’s struggles today is also different. "Economic dependence on other countries is a conspiracy to break our unity. There's a conspiracy to change our demographics," he warned. Expressing approval of the government’s response, he said he was “very satisfied” with the speed at which these issues were being addressed.

The Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar has welcomed PM Modi's statement on Trump Gaza peace plan. Speaking to WION's Sidhant Sibal, Ambassador said,'we welcome the statement of PM Modi, it is a great sign that we have India with us, with the International vision to ending the war in Gaza". Trump's 20-point Gaza peace plan, calls for an immediate end to the war upon acceptance by both sides, with Hamas releasing all Israeli hostages within 72 hours in exchange for Israel's release of 250 life-sentence prisoners and 1,700 Gazans detained post-October 7, 2023.Earlier in the day, PM Modi, welcomed President Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict which he said, 'provides a viable pathway to long term and sustainable peace, security and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people'. Asked, if any plans on India joining the stabilization force, he said, 'it's up to India. India has lot to contribute'Sidhant Sibal: How do you see India's role in the peace plan? PM Modi has welcomed President Trump's peace plan?Reuven Azar: We welcome the statement by PM Modi, it is a great sign that we have India with us, with the International vision to ending the war in Gaza. Think that we share the principles and the ideology that is necessary in order to promote peace in our region, rejecting terrorism, committing to de radicalization and creating Development and Environment. So I hope this works.Sidhant Sibal: Do you see India joining the stabilizing force?Reuven Azar: It is upto India. India indeed has a lot to contribute. Only three weeks ago we had here a delegation from the finance ministry that invited Indian infrastructure companies to build Israel. We're going to issue tenders more than $200 billion in the next 10 years. And for sure, the Gaza reconstruction will need a lot of effort as well. So yes, India has a lot to offer.Sidhant Sibal: We hope we saw the Pakistani side also joining in welcoming it. And we have seen there has been engagement between the Pakistan side and the US President. How do you see the Pakistani role? And do you see a moment in future where the Pakistani government also recognizes the State of Israel?Reuven Azar: Well, I hope so. I think that the fact that Arab and Muslim countries have joined this vision, gives me a lot of room for hope, because until now, there was this gap we had that we could jump to the Palestinian statehood without the preconditions of it, without actually creating reform, without committing to peace, without recognizing Israel. And the fact that countries have adopted Trump's vision for that is something that is very positive. The mere fact that countries in West Asia, in this region, are actually committed to rejecting terrorism is a very positive thing, I think, for you as well.Sidhant Sibal: So my final question to you is about this peace plan. How hopeful are you that it will be successful and it will lead to a lasting peace in the region?Reuven Azar: I am hopeful. The region is very tired. We are tired from this war. We want to see an end to it, and when the international community unites around the goals, demilitarization of the Gaza strip, committing to reforms, this is a very important development that gives me hope, because for a long time, Sidhant, countries have been ignoring these facts. I hope that this time it will work. Sidhant Sibal: If it doesn't work?Reuven Azar: it is very clear, by statements of President Trump and PM Netanyahu. We will have to take military action. We hope it doesn't happen, but it could happen if Hamas doesn't.

Govt gifting ‘double bonanza’ to citizens: PM Modi says GST 2.0 will allow neo middle class to fulfil their dreams

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday slammed Congress' economic policies, saying that the party ignored India's potential. Addressing a public meeting in Gujarat's Bhavnagar, PM Modi criticised the license-quota raj before 1991 and Congress' focus on imports after opening India's market. Reiterating his call for self-reliance, he said, "India must become Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) and stand strong before the world. India has no shortage of potential, but after independence, Congress ignored all of India's potential." "Therefore, even after 6-7 decades of independence, India has not achieved the success it deserved. There were two major reasons for this. For a long time, the Congress government kept the country entangled in the license-quota raj, isolating it from the world market. And then, when the era of globalisation arrived, the only path to import was taken," the Prime Minister added. He took a dig at Congress over the scams under the UPA government and said that their policies prevented India's true strength from being revealed. "Scams worth thousands, lakhs, and crores were committed. The policies of the Congress governments caused great harm to the country's youth. These policies prevented India's true strength from being revealed," PM Modi said. Further, he said that the nation's "biggest enemy" is dependence on other countries. Prime Minister said, "Today, India is moving forward with the spirit of 'Vishwabandhu'. Duniya mein koi hamara bada dushman nahi hai. Agar hamara koi dushman hai toh woh hai dusre deshon par hamari nirbharta (We have no major enemy in the world. Our biggest enemy is our dependence on other countries). This is our biggest enemy, and together we must defeat this enemy of India, the enemy of dependence. We must always reiterate this." He added that to ensure a stable and prosperous future for the coming generations, India cannot afford to have major foreign dependence. He stated, "The greater the foreign dependence, the greater the country's failure. For global peace, stability, and prosperity, the country with the world's largest population must become Atmanirbhar. If we remain dependent on others, our self-respect will be hurt. We cannot leave the future of 1.4 billion countrymen to others. We cannot leave the resolution for the country's development to the dependence of others. We cannot put the future of the coming generations at stake." "There is only one medicine for a hundred sorrows, and that is a self-reliant India," the Prime Minister added. PM Modi has been reiterating his call for an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Earlier, in Assam, he emphasised that India has embarked on the path to becoming "self-reliant" in the energy sector, highlighting the country's dependence on other countries for importing crude oil and gas. "We have been dependent on foreign countries for these things. We import huge quantities of crude oil and gas from foreign countries, and in return, India has to give lakhs of crores of rupees to other countries every year. Our money creates jobs abroad. The income of the people there increases. It was necessary to change this situation. That is why India has embarked on the path of becoming self-reliant for its energy needs," the Prime Minister said. Meanwhile, today, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over Rs 34,200 crore at the 'Samudra se Samriddhi' event in Bhavnagar.Disclaimer: This story has been published from a news agency feed with minimal edits for grammar and punctuation.
Does the BJP have a formal rule for retirement at 75?
Formally BJP does not have any such rule which compels any leader to resign at 75. However, in 2014, after becoming the PM of India, Narendra Modi set an informal age limit of 75 years for holding ministerial offices or cabinet portfolios.Several leaders like LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, and Yashwant Sinha were removed from an active role following their coming to the age of 75. They were moved to a role of 'Marghdarshak'. However, it is to be noted that it's not a binding rule, and it only started under the discretion of PM Modi.Read More: Top 10 most democratic countries in the world leading in freedom and governance RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat last month said that he did not name himself or anyone else to retire at 75.
