An Air India flight operating from New Delhi to San Francisco was forced to divert and land at&nbsp;Krasnoyarsk International Airport (UNKL) in Russia after a suspected fire in the luggage compartment, according to a report in BBC Russia.

The report stated that the long-haul aircraft was forced to make the landing, six hours after taking off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.&nbsp;According to preliminary data, 243 passengers were flying aboard the Boeing 777 plane and all were safe.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed that the fire alarm in the luggage compartment of the plane went off, forcing the pilots to make an 'unscheduled' landing at the&nbsp;Krasnoyarsk airfield.&nbsp;The&nbsp;Federal Air Transport Agency said there was no sign of fire or smoke.

"The aircraft has landed safely and we are working with relevant authorities to ensure guests are taken care of while we decide the next course of action. At Air India, the safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew remains top priority," it added.&nbsp;

The situation in the capital and the neighbouring regions deteriorated, with the authorities saying that they have taken strong measures to prevent waterlogging in the coming days when heavy rains have been forecast.&nbsp;

News agency PTI reported that a 60-year-old man died after he got stuck with his scooter in a waterlogged underpass in Okhla. The deceased Digvijay Kumar Chaudhary was a resident of Jaitpur in Delhi, the agency added.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the bodies of three labourers were pulled out on Saturday morning from the rubble of a wall that collapsed at a construction site in the Vasant Vihar area amid heavy rain the day before, officials said.&nbsp;

<h2>Monsoon in Delhi&nbsp;</h2>

In Delhi, the monsoon arrived Friday morning and the national capital recorded 228.1 mm of rainfall on day one, the highest since 1936 for the month of June.&nbsp;

The India Metrological Department (IMD) Saturday issued an orange alert for Delhi, predicting heavy rainfall for the next two days.&nbsp;

According to the IMD, 8.9 mm rainfall was recorded between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm at the Safdarjung observatory, the city's primary weather station, and 12.6 mm at the Lodhi Road observatory.&nbsp;

Delhi’s waterlogging woes surface in just two days of Monsoon rain, death toll rises to 11

Delhi Police on Saturday (Jun 22) used water cannon to disperse the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers who were protesting against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government - a show of striking irony as the main cause of demonstrations is an ongoing shortage of water in the Indian capital.&nbsp;

Delhi Water Minister Atishi began her indefinite hunger strike in south Delhi's Bhogal on Friday to get more water from Haryana. Atishi has claimed Haryana has released 100 MGD less water in Yamuna for Delhi in the last two weeks, affecting 28 lakh people in the city.&nbsp;

Notably, Delhi is dependent on drinking water supply from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.&nbsp;

"Political leaders of Delhi have turned a crisis into an opportunity for blaming the neighbouring states with the sole aim of gaining political mileage. This polemical exercise has ended up compounding the problems of Delhi people and antagonizing the neighbouring states grappling with water scarcity," he added.&nbsp;

"A call related to the fire was received at 5:00 pm (IST) from Chandni Chowk area. The fire was in Marwadi Katra, Nai Sadak in Chandani Chowk," Atul Garg, who is the director of Delhi Fire Services said.&nbsp;

He said that initially 14 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, but later more were sent to the site. No one was reported injured as yet.&nbsp;

Even as President Mohamed Muizzu was visiting India for the inauguration of a new government in New Delhi, Maldives has now taken another major step that could further strain ties. The national security services committee of the People’s Majlis (parliament) of Maldives on Monday (Jun 10) opened a parliamentary inquiry into at least three agreements signed between the two governments under the watch of previous president Ibrahim Solih.

“Today, the National Security Services Committee of the parliament has decided to conduct a parliamentary inquiry to investigate actions undertaken by President @ibusolih’s administration that undermined the sovereignty and independence of the Maldives,” revealed Ahmed Azaan, a Maldivian MP, on social media.

The agreements between Male and New Delhi were signed between 2018 and 2023, including a hydrography agreement, the pact to construct and maintain a Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard Harbour at Sifvaru and the agreement to operate Dornier aircraft, according to local media reports.

It must be noted that the Muizzu government has already decided to scrap the agreement on hydrographic surveys. Now, questions are being asked as to why the agreement signed in the first place.

As per media reports, the parliamentary committee has been formed under Article 241 of the constitution of Maldives to "exercise continuing oversight of the operations of the security services”.

Now, a four-member panel of the committee will peruse the details of the agreements and look for discrepancies.

Ahmed Azaan and fellow parliamentarians Ahmed Nazim, Abdul Gafoor Musa and Abdul Hannan Aboobakaru are the four members of the panel.

Delhi Fire Service in a statement said two fire tenders have been rushed to the site. A bomb disposal and detection team as well as a dog squad have been deployed on the site. As of now, nothing suspicious has been found but searches are on.

Several police vehicles have been deployed in the area, and more details are awaited.

This comes days after several hospitals in the city and Delhi's international airport received similar bomb threat mails.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has once again highlighted that the trade relationship between Islamabad and New Delhi has remained suspended since 2019 after India raised its import duties on Pakistani goods.

The latest report from The Hindu reveals that Dar explained the situation in a written statement he submitted to the National Assembly of Pakistan, alluding to the fact that India slapped a 200 per cent&nbsp;tariff on imports from Pakistan, stopped the Kashmir bus service, and suspended trade across the Line of Control after the Pulwama attack.

Dar’s remark was in response to Pakistan Peoples Party lawmaker Sharmila Faruqui, who had asked about trade problems with Pakistan’s neighbouring countries, particularly India.

When asked about their plans to re-establish trade relations with India, he replied that Pakistan’s business community is very interested in this but that 'at present there are no plans to restore relations which have been virtually non-existent since 2019’.

The suspension of trade came after the Indian Parliament on August 5, 2019, abolished Article 370, a move that Pakistan saw as giving no hope for talks between the two nations.

Dar re-emphasised Pakistan’s stand on seeking “engagement and meaningful dialogue” to address outstanding issues, especially the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

He concluded that it is in New Delhi’s interest to create a favourable atmosphere for peace and reconciliation.

India, on the contrary, claims it wants only peaceful and neighbourly relations with Pakistan and reiterates that this can only be achieved if Pakistan stops creating hostility and terror.

Ties between the two nations have been tense for decades and are mostly defined by the conflict around Kashmir and Pakistani accusations of terrorism from India.

Pak minister says no plan to restore trade with India, suspended since 2019

In a movie-like heist, a jewellery showroom was robbed by making a hole in the wall of the showroom in the Dariba Kalan area of Delhi, India.&nbsp;

The robbers drilled a hole in the jewellery showroom from a neighbouring shop and carried out the robbery.&nbsp;

In addition to jewellery and cash, the thieves also took away the CCTV cameras with them from the jewellery shop.

The police said that they received a video of the incident and further investigation has been launched into the matter.&nbsp;

As per reports, the robbers took away Rs1 lakh (around $1,200) of cash and 14kg of silver jewellery.&nbsp;

As quoted by local media reports, a senior police officer said, "A PCR call regarding a burglary was received at the Kotwali police station. A team was immediately sent to the shop in Dariba Kalan."&nbsp;

The officer said that the store owner informed the authorities that he closed his shop around 8.30 pm (IST) on Saturday and went home.&nbsp;

A huge hole was found in the wall, which was connected to the adjacent vacant shop, when the complainant and his father opened the store on Monday.&nbsp;

The officer added that the owner found that various silver items were stolen when he checked the items in his shop.&nbsp;

"The crime scene was examined by the forensic team and a case was registered against unknown people. We are checking the CCTV footage for clue and further investigation is on," said the officer.&nbsp;

A Nagar Kirtan parade, a religious procession, was held by the Ontario Gurdwara Committee on June&nbsp;4&nbsp;where violent imageries targeting Indian politicians, including PM Narendra Modi, were displayed.

The parade&nbsp;was joined&nbsp;by people designated as terrorists by India, including Paramjit Mand of Dal Khalsa and Avtar Singh Pannu.

"We continue to remain concerned about the security of our diplomatic representatives in Canada and expect the Government of Canada to ensure that they are able to carry out their responsibilities without fear," Jaiswal said.

"We again call upon the Government of Canada to stop providing criminal and secessionist elements a safe haven and political space in Canada," he added.

Relations between New Delhi and Ottawa nosedived last year when Trudeau directly accused the government of India of killing a Canadian national on Canadian soil, named Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar was declared a terrorist by India in 2020 for inciting violence against India overseas and masterminding attacks on Indian soil.

Police, bomb squads and other emergency services rushed to all the schools which received such e-mails and carried out a detailed inspection,&nbsp;but didn't find anything suspicious.&nbsp;

The advisory read, "In view of the current situation wherein bomb threats were received by a few schools of Delhi in early hours of morning of 01.05.2024, it is advised that School Administrators/Managers/Heads of Government/Government Aided and Unaided Recognised Schools under the Directorate of Education, GNCT Delhi should ensure that emails/messages received on official email id of the school at any time of the day (before, during or after school hours) are checked timely."&nbsp;

The advisory further stated that the school authorities should inform parents and concerned law enforcement authorities to initiate appropriate measures regarding the safety and security of the students in the event of any "impending threats or challenges, well in time".&nbsp;

Police initiated action when the victim's father approached the police on Wednesday after he was unable to contact her in the last few days. He also has suspicions that her live-in partner, identified as Vipal Tailor, murdered his daughter, the police said.

A team from Dabri police station rushed to the woman's house in Dwarka's Rajapuri area after Police Control Room (PCR) received a call at 10.40 pm (IST) on Wednesday. The caller reportedly said his daughter could have been killed.&nbsp;

The father also told the police that his daughter had been living in the rented flat with Tailor for the past one and a half months.&nbsp;

The officer also said that police teams are also scanning CCTV cameras in the area to find out the crime sequence.&nbsp;
