<p>The two-day G20 summit in New Delhi will kick off on September 9 without the presence of Russian and Chinese leaders, but world leaders including US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to attend.</p>

<p>However, the bloc has remained divided over the Ukraine crisis, with Western nations pushing for harsher language in the joint statement.</p>

<p>Russia has threatened to block the joint communiqué if it fails to reflect its ‘concerns.’</p>

<h2><strong>India’s argument</strong></h2>

<p>New Delhi has firmly taken this stance that the G20 forum is not the place for geopolitics and that the joint statement must reflect the concerns of China and Russia.</p>

<p>"As long as everyone endorses the structure of the document, that is a consensus. We are trying for a situation that everyone including Russia, G7 and China are happy that their views are there," one of the Indian officials said.</p>

<p>The other way around is to release a more general statement, another official was quoted as saying by Reuters.</p>

<p>Ahead of the G20 summit in New Delhi, the World Bank has prepared a policy document which highlights how India achieved an impressive financial inclusion rate of 80 per cent within just six years, thanks to revolutionary steps taken by the government of India.</p>

<p>The G20 policy document specifically mentions the government’s initiatives such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Aadhar and Mobile phones (the JAM trinity). Notably, the document says, it may have taken India a whopping 47 years to achieve this feat otherwise.</p>

<p>The remarkable achievement of the Indian government has been highlighted in the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) document. India also plans to showcase the document at the summit to highlight its success on the global forum.</p>

<h2><strong>India’s major achievements</strong></h2>

<p>The document noted how transactions through UPI amounted to nearly 50 per cent of India’s nominal GDP in the last financial year. “Banks’ costs of onboarding customers in India decreased from $23 to $0.1 with the use of DPI. As of March 2022, India did total savings of $33 billion, equivalent to nearly 1.14% of GDP, due to Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT),” the document read.</p>

<p>In the end, the report says India has managed to build one of the world’s largest government-to-people infrastructure, which has drastically revolutionised India’s governance regime.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As India gears up to host the G20 summit in its capital New Delhi, and welcome leaders from around the world, security is a top priority.</p>

<p>For the security of the influential attendees of the two-day summit, which starts from September 9, India will be deploying more than 100,000 security officers.</p>

<h2><strong>Security arrangements</strong></h2>

<p>India will be hosting&nbsp;some of its most high-profile guests during the G20 Summit. Influential leaders attending the summit include US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Saudi Arabia's Mohammed Bin Salman.&nbsp;</p>

<p>New Delhi, as per reports, will be closely guarded. During the summit, access will be regulated.</p>

<p>130,000 security personnel — including the 80,000-strong Delhi Police — will manage the security of the high-profile G20 Summit.</p>

<p>Dependra Pathak, special commissioner of the Delhi Police who is in charge of security arrangements in the city said, "This is a historic and momentous moment."</p>

<p>As per him, thousands of personnel from government security services, including the home guards and the paramilitary Border Security Force, will be brought in to maintain law and order.</p>

<p>"To contain protests and gatherings, we will have adequate and robust police presence," said Pathak.</p>

<h2><strong>Aerial security</strong></h2>

<p>Reuters reports that the Indian Air Force will also play a role in aerospace defence in and around Delhi. The air force, along with the Delhi Police and paramilitary forces, will also deploy anti-drone systems to prevent any aerial threats.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Additionally, security control rooms are being set up at the venue, and special arrangements have been made at key hotels where world leaders will stay. 400 firefighters will also be on call during the G20 Summit.</p>

<p>Despite the substantial security presence, India has requested participating countries to be "rational" about the number of cars and personnel they bring.</p>

As India gears up to host the G20 summit in its capital New Delhi, and welcome leaders from around the world, security is a top priority. For the security of the influential attendees of the two-day summit, which starts from September 9, India will be deploying more than 100,000 security officers. Influential leaders attending the summit include US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Saudi Arabia's Mohammed Bin Salman. New Delhi, as per reports, will be closely guarded. During the summit, access will be regulated. 130,000 security personnel — including the 80,000-strong Delhi Police — will manage the security of the high-profile G20 Summit. As per him, thousands of personnel from government security services, including the home guards and the paramilitary Border Security Force, will be brought in to maintain law and order. "To contain protests and gatherings, we will have adequate and robust police presence," said Pathak. Aerial security Reuters reports that the Indian Air Force will also play a role in aerospace defence in and around Delhi. The air force, along with the Delhi Police and paramilitary forces, will also deploy anti-drone systems to prevent any aerial threats. Additionally, security control rooms are being set up at the venue, and special arrangements have been made at key hotels where world leaders will stay. 400 firefighters will also be on call during the G20 Summit. Schools, government departments, and businesses in the city of 20 million people have been asked to remain closed for three days. <p>The life-size cut-outs can be spotted on Delhi’s Sardar Patel Marg as well as the Central Ridge area that's located near Connaught Place.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Central Ridge includes 864 hectares of land that was converted into a reserve forest in 1914 and stretches from just south of Sadar Bazaar to Dhaula Kuan.</p>

<p>Delhi officials say the measure has been taken in coordination with the Delhi Forest Department.</p>

<p>Delivering a keynote address at the Indiaspora G20 forum on Tuesday (August 23), US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said Joe Biden told him that India is the most important country in the world to him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Highlighting the growing importance of India on the global map, Garcetti said it was perhaps the first time that any American president had uttered such a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“He (President Biden) told me, when he asked me to come here to serve, he said, this is the most important country in the world for me, I think something that no American president has ever uttered in the history of our two countries,” said Garcetti.</p>

<p>“From technology to trade, from the environment to women’s empowerment, from small businesses to space, we used to say the sky is the limit, but now that we’re working together in space, not even the sky is the limit. From the seabed to the heavens, the US and India are a force for good and a powerful force to move this world forward," he added.</p>
