Verstappen, however, kept up with the pace and managed to take the inside line to go past the British driver a few minutes later on lap 3. Norris lost the opportunity to win the race after the team took the gamble of staying out, behind Russell while the likes of Verstappen and Hamilton preferred to pit early. Norris lost nearly four seconds sitting behind Russell and later had to endure a slow pit exit, which contributed to a second-place finish. Despite the second-finish, experts are of the view that McLaren may have eclipsed Red Bull which has installed new upgrades in the car in recent months. "On this particular one, I have instructed to go full force with police inquiring it, researching the IP address, researching the phone number, because online abuse in that way needs to stop. People can't hide behind their phones, or their computers, and abuse teams or drivers in a way like this," he added.

Hamilton was also asked about the same at Thursday's Media Day to which he replied: &nbsp;"We're all in the same boat, we're all working hard together and we all want to finish on a high. We owe that to our long-term relationship."

Hamilton, however, said that he had not yet seen the mail which was sent last week.

Red Bull Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner has clapped back at Mercedes after Max Verstappen won the Canadian Grand Prix. Horner responded to Mercedes technical director James Allison who claimed that Red Bull had made their car slower by introducing new updates.&nbsp;

2024 Mercedes C-Class and GLC get new powertrains, safety features

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has taken a dig at rival teams such as Ferrari and McLaren while addressing the German team's dip in form and decline since the end of the 2021 season. The former world champions have won only a solitary race in the new regulations since the commencement of the 2022 season.&nbsp;

Wolff further cited the example of Ferrari's 16-year drought and also pointed out McLaren's 26-year drought for a Constructors' title. In this regard, he opined, "Ferrari hasn't won a Constructors' Championship since 2008. Red Bull failed to do so for eight years in a row because we were the ones who won. Mercedes reportedly cancels development for next-gen EV platform

George Russell has given a thumbs-up to the idea of having Max Verstappen as his teammate at Mercedes.&nbsp;In a recent interaction, the Briton was confident of being able to match with the Dutchman after being the teammate of Lewis Hamilton for two years. Hamilton is set to leave Mercedes and join Ferrari in 2025. A spine-tingling radio conversation of Russell with his team has now gone viral on social media showing how terrified the Briton was of being smacked from behind by the speeding cars.&nbsp;

The incident transpired on the final lap of the race as Russell attempted to make a late dash to overtake Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso. However, right on the apex, Russell lost control of the car, glided into the gravel trap, and slammed into the wall before the tyres came unhinged, which flipped the car onto its side.&nbsp;

Concerned that he was a sitting duck, Russell, with horror in his voice, begged for the race to be stopped, or in racing terms - red-flagged.&nbsp;

Despite Russell's plea, the race director only opted for a virtual safety car and the race was brought to a close. Fortunately, the drivers behind Russell did not wallop through the blind corner and managed to circumvent the debris and the crashed car carefully.&nbsp;
