Waugh reckoned Australia could try uncapped Webster at number seven, with Carey getting promotion in the batting order &ndash; a role late Aussie all-rounder Andrew Symonds used to play in his time. <h2>Langer differs</h2>
Though Marsh isn&rsquo;t the only weak link in Australia&rsquo;s batting order, with opener Usman Khawaja also under scrutiny for lack of runs and impact at the top, former coach Justin Langer believes otherwise, saying Pat Cummins and the team management must stick with Marsh for the final Test.
Sharing his thoughts in a conversation on Channel 7, Langer said dropping Marsh for the final game, regardless of the result of the ongoing Test, will not send a positive message.

Speaking to Fox Cricket after India lost the first of the two Tests inside three days (by an innings and 32 runs) in Centurion, Vaughan began by asking Waugh if, with all the resources and talent at their disposal, this Indian Team failed to live up to the hype.

“Do you think, in terms of cricket, India are one of the most underachieving sports teams in the world?” Vaughan asks Waugh, to which the former Aussie opener replied, “They haven’t won much in recent times. I think they are [an underachieving side]. They don’t win anything. When was the last time they won something? With all the talent they have, all the skill-set.

Highlighting India’s only biggest achievement in the past decade being their twin Test series win over Australia in Australia, Waugh said he respects India for doing so but cannot fathom that they failed to win any ICC tournament despite reaching the knockout stages in most editions.

It is him and ‘Haydos’ [Matthew Hayden] right up there for Australia I reckon, the top two ever, so I will always back Davey no matter what, and I think the other guys will, too.&nbsp;With all respect, the media will write what sells newspapers and I understand that."

It will be interesting to see if Australia go ahead with Warner once again in the upcoming Test. They are aiming to go 3-1 up in the five-match series to win their first-ever Ashes in England since 2001.

Waugh, however, feels that the gates have opened now for him&nbsp;and the drought is over.

"The drought’s over. The gates have opened,” said the former Australia cricketer.&nbsp;

Notably, Waugh after the Indore Test - the third in the series, had said that he can't believe Kohli has gone that long without a ton.

“I cannot believe a player of his class has gone that long without a hundred. He’s a world-class player and I feel like a hundred is just around the corner for him,” he had said.

Incidentally, Kohli scored a Test century in the next match after 24 Tests, 42 innings and 1,205 days.

Adding that Rohit has done well overseas also, Waugh said he can change gears in Tests as per the situation, and with the wide range of shots he has, the India captain will always remain a threat to the opposition.

"He has got the discipline; he has got the range of shots. It's all about the mental game now. He is a class player, in all conditions. He plays well overseas; he has got a perfect game for Indian conditions. He has got the range, he watches the ball so closely, and he has got great hands. He reads the game well, he can go up the gear and down the gear, according to the situation," the former Aussie legend told Star Sports.

Former Australian opener Mark Waugh had a difficult time pronouncing Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman's name correctly.&nbsp;

Waugh, who mistakenly pronounced it as F****r, &nbsp;lead to a laugh riot in the studio.&nbsp;

India's refusal to play a day-night Test in Adelaide is "selfish" and hinders efforts to reinvigorate test cricket, Australia's former test batsman Mark Waugh said on Wednesday.

India have declined to play their maiden day-night test against Australia, leaving the Dec. 6-10 series-opener in Adelaide a day match, and remain the lone frontline team not to have featured in one.

"It's a little bit selfish from India's point of view because we need to revitalise Test cricket," Waugh said on Australia's Big Sports Breakfast radio show.

"Day-night test cricket in some countries is going to be one of those ingredients that could transform test cricket back to where it should be."

India's reluctance is attributed to their pink-ball inexperience but Waugh, who will step down from his role as a national twenty20 selector in August, is baffled by their refusal given the depth in the Virat Kohli-led squad.

"Their team is pretty well suited to day-night cricket, they've got a string of fast bowlers, so they don't just rely on the spinners, and their batsman are technically very good as well," Waugh explained.

"So for the greater good of the game, I would have loved to have seen that as a day-night Test."

India play three twenty20 internationals, four tests and three one-day internationals in their tour of Australia from November to January.
