<h3>Manchester United face Real Betis</h3>

The League Cup champions will face former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini as brings his Real Betis side to Old Trafford. United got the better of Barcelona in the playoff round and will look to upset yet another Spanish side. The 7-0 defeat against Liverpool was hard to take for the United players and the tie on Thursday night will be the perfect opportunity for them to bounce back and regather their momentum. Betis on the flip side are also in great form and sit fifth in the Spanish La Liga.

<h3>Arsenal in Lisbon</h3>

The Gunners who sit top of the pile in the PL will look to advance further in the Europa League, as they face Sporting Lisbon in the Portugal capital. Mikel Arteta’s side should be aware of the fact that their North London rivals Spurs lost against Sporting in the group stage of the Champions League and cannot be taken lightly.

<h3>Can Jose Mourinho spark his magic?</h3>

Jose Mourinho has been a well-crafted coach and will look to win the Europa League, a year after winning the Conference League. He remains the only coach to have won all three European League competitions and will look for the same with Roma. The team from the Italian capital has been in a hunt for a place in the Top four of Serie A and will look to make the Champions League next season as they take on Spanish side Real Sociedad at home.

In other contests on the night, Juventus will host German side Frieberg while Bayer Leverkusen and record champions Sevilla will also look to gain first leg lead. The ties will be played in two installments in the evening with the return legs to take place next Thursday.

Europa League: PL giants Arsenal, Manchester United eye first leg advantage; Roma, Juventus also in action

Marcus Rashford defended Manchester United's effort in a historic 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool, with the Red Devils' top scorer putting a second half collapse down to a lack of organisation. United equalled their heaviest ever defeat in a competitive game and worst since 1931 at Anfield after conceding six times in the second period.

<h3>United did not give up, clams Marcus Rashford</h3>

"We didn't give up, that's nonsense," said Rashford at a pre-match press conference on Wednesday ahead of United's Europa League last 16, first leg against Real Betis.

"We were unorganised, yes, communication was bad, yes, that's why we conceded the goals.

"But it comes down to the fact that I believe everyone was trying to get back in the game that much we came away from the team's principles in and out of possession."

Bruno Fernandes has been singled out for criticism for his attitude while captaining the side at the weekend. The Portuguese midfielder has regularly been appointed Ten Hag's skipper this season as club captain Harry Maguire has slipped down the pecking order. Fernandes frequently chastised his teammates and even pushed one of the referee's assistants in his frustration. But Ten Hag confirmed he will remain captain when Maguire is not selected.

"I am really happy to have Bruno Fernandes in my team and really happy that Bruno Fernandes, if Harry is not on the pitch, is our captain," said the former Ajax boss.

United had lost just once in 22 games prior to their mauling by Jurgen Klopp's men. Ten Hag has already ended a six-year wait for silverware by winning the League Cup and United remain in the hunt for two more trophies in the Europa League and FA Cup.

Liverpool thrashed Manchester United 7-0 in one of the most staggering results in the history of the Premier League. WION Sports decodes the match and what it means for both teams heading into the business end of the season.

Liverpool hand man united a brutal reality check

It was a horror outing for Erik Ten Hag-led Manchester United as they were hammered 7-0 by hosts Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday (March 05). With a massive win, Liverpool strengthened their top-four chances in the 2022/23 Premier League season.&nbsp;Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah struck twice whereas Roberto Firmino also scored once as the Red Devils had no answers and were left clueless versus the hosts in front of a jam-packed stadium.&nbsp;

While Salah, Gakpo and Nunez scored twice each, it was the Egyptian who made heads turn. Not only did the 30-year-old&nbsp;become the Merseyside club’s all-time leading Premier League scorer with 129 goals, he also toyed with Man United's&nbsp;Lisandro Martinez. Here's the video of Salah outfoxing Martinez with his skills during Liverpool's big win over the Old Trafford club:

Dust is yet to settle on Manchester United's Carabao Cup success as they will make their way across the town to take on arch-rivals Liverpool in a topsy-turvy contest on Sunday, February 5.

Dust is yet to settle on Manchester United's Carabao Cup success as they will make their way across the town to take on arch-rivals Liverpool in a topsy-turvy contest on Sunday, February 5. Jurgen Klopp's men will be determined to put a spanner in the work for United as they try to put in a Premier League (PL) title challenge. A win for the Red Devils will be of huge ramifications in the title race, but considering Liverpool's position in the PL, the Reds will also eye three points at Anfield. As things stand, United will make the short journey across the river Mersey in search of three vital points while they look to replicate their cup form in the league. United will start the weekend in third place with 49 points and are 11 points adrift of Arsenal, but will know that the Gunners will drop points at some stage in the season. ALSO READ: Lionel Messi receives death threat after gunmen open fire on supermarket owned by PSG star's in-laws Liverpool on the flip side are on 39 points from 24 games and have a game in hand over fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. A win for Liverpool could see them close the gap into the top four as Newcastle United are also likely to drop points on the weekend as they take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Liverpool's impressive run under Jurgen Klopp The Reds, who will play at home on the weekend have never finished outside the top four under a full season of Jurgen Klopp. Interestingly, the only time the Reds finished outside the top four was in 2016, when Klopp took charge in the mid-season. The 2020 PL champions will be keeping a close eye on Spurs and Newcastle, while they have been shaky at times. Erik ten hag magic at United Erik ten Hag has already made a mark as United's manager by winning the EFL Cup while beating Barcelona and West Ham United in the Europa League and FA Cup, respectively. The former Ajax manager has not taken time to make his presence feel and has put the deadwood away in the camp by getting rid of Cristiano Ronaldo while also addressing defensive woes. Who has the upper hand? While United have enjoyed its run in recent times, Liverpool have been unbeaten in their last four PL games. The Reds have won three and drawn one and scalped 10 points from a possible 12. United on the other hand have lost only one PL game in 2023, which was against Arsenal at the Emirates stadium. While it remains hard to call with the form of both the teams in top form, it is only wise to say that fans will be in for another blockbuster contest over the weekend.

PL: Can Liverpool put spanner in the work for Manchester United as season reaches decisive stage?

Manchester&nbsp;United&nbsp;fought back to overpower West Ham&nbsp;United&nbsp;3-1 and reach the FA Cup quarter-finals as Premier League Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton suffered shock defeats on Wednesday. Three days after they won the League Cup,&nbsp;Manchester&nbsp;United&nbsp;trailed to Said Benrahma's 54th-minute goal at Old Trafford but an own goal by West Ham's Nayef Aguerd and late strikes from Alejandro Garnacho and Fred sent the hosts into the last eight.

Manchester&nbsp;manager Erik Ten Hag was delighted with his players. "The resilience from this team and the belief they're going to win it was magnificent," the Dutchman told ITV. West Ham, who have won only once at Old Trafford in their last 22 visits, took advantage of sloppy defending to open the scoring.

Tomas Soucek kept the ball in play on the left touchline and as&nbsp;Manchester&nbsp;United&nbsp;players appealed for a throw-in, the Czech played the ball to Benrahma who fired a shot past David De Gea into the top corner. United&nbsp;thought they had equalised when Bruno Fernandes found Casemiro with a pin-point free kick, but his headed effort was disallowed for offside.

The game looked set for extra time until Argentine forward Garnacho controlled the ball inside West Ham's penalty area before curling a shot past keeper Alphonse Areola. Brazilian Fred added a third and the 12-times FA Cup winners advanced to a sixth-round home tie against Fulham. "I had a strong feeling that we still could win the game, you saw the belief, there was composure, there was never a moment of panic," Ten Hag said.

Liverpool on the flip side are on 39 points from 24 games and have a game in hand over fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Erik ten hag magic at United Erik ten Hag has already made a mark as United's manager by winning the EFL Cup while beating Barcelona and West Ham United in the Europa League and FA Cup respectively. United on the flip side have lost only one PL game in 2023, which was against Arsenal at the Emirates stadium. while it remains hard to call with the form of both the teams in top form, it is only wise to say that fans will be in for another blockbuster contest over the weekend.

When quizzed about what he talked about with the legendary manager, the Dutch said: "I always enjoy speaking with people who have a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience and he wants to share it, he wants to help and support. Man United is his club and he feels so committed. We are doing well. It was a great night and I look forward to the next night with him." The last time the club won a trophy was in 2017 when Jose Mourinho managed to engineer a Europa League victory which he dubs one of the biggest achievements of his career. A club of United's stature being without any silverware for six years has agitated the entire fanbase. Thus, when Ten Hag's men step on the Wembley turf, expectations will be high. Ever since Ferguson's departure, United have looked wayward and not a world-beating side, despite having top coaches at the helm. However, with Ten Hag at the wheel, United look hungry and capable of winning the trophies. (With inputs from agencies) WATCH WION LIVE HERE:

Casemiro guides Manchester United to 2-0 win over Newcastle in League Cup final, lifts trophy for sixth time

Brazilian forward Antony stepped off the bench to send Manchester United through to the Europa League last 16 as the hosts came from behind to beat Barcelona 2-1 in Thursday's playoff second leg and progress 4-3 on aggregate. After a frantic start, Barca were awarded an 18th-minute penalty when Bruno Fernandes was adjudged to have fouled defender Alejandro Balde and Robert Lewandowski just squeezed the spot-kick home.

Manchester United came out for the second half looking like a different side and levelled through Fred, the Brazilian steering home Fernandes's pass two minutes after the break.

A superb save from goalkeeper David de Gea kept out an effort from Barca's Jules Kounde, a stop that proved crucial as Antony arrowed a superb finish into the bottom corner 17 minutes from time to send United through. Manchester United remain in four competitions this season as they bid to win their first major trophy since 2017.

"The belief of the team is always there," Fernandes told BT Sport. "The belief of the fans, they push us through difficult moments. "We have made great comebacks; the club is made also by that. In the past we have done a lot like this result."

Both sides have improved a great deal under their new coaches this season, with some of the football in the first leg testament to that and setting the tie up nicely for the return fixture under the lights at Old Trafford.

FERNANDES DENIED

Manchester United started well with captain Fernandes denied by a superb Marc-Andre ter Stegen save after being picked out by Casemiro. Then came the moment that had Old Trafford united in incredulity as referee Clement Turpin pointed to the spot, a decision Fernandes could not believe. De Gea got a hand to Lewandowski's penalty, but could not claw it out.

The Polish striker has now scored 25 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions for the LaLiga leaders this season, the 12th successive campaign in which he has netted 25 or more goals at club level.

United did not create a chance of note for the remainder of the first half but whatever coach Erik ten Hag said at the break had an immediate effect as Fernandes found Fred to level. The save from De Gea to tip Kounde's header over was world class and the finish from Antony also right out of the top drawer.

Substitutes have made a huge difference for United this term, with 19 goals scored by replacements in all competitions, the most of any big-five European league side in 2022-23.

The hosts survived nervy late moments, but saw out a first win over Barca since 2008 -- 1-0 in the second leg of the 2007-08 Champions League semi-final -- to end a five-game winless run against the Spanish side.

"United were very intense in that second half," Barca coach Xavi Hernandez said. "They are in very good form at the moment and are very good at home. It is those fine details that made all the difference.

"If Pedri or Gavi had been there today, maybe it would have been different in the second half."

Europa League draw: Manchester United to play Real Betis, Arsenal will be up against Sporting

Doors will always be open at the club for the former Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, current manager Xavi Hernandez said ahead of the side’s second-leg round-of-16 match against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Europa League. Speaking highly of Messi, who is also regarded as the greatest ever to grace the game by many, Xavi said he is in permanent contact with the Argentinean, and that Camp Nou was and will always remain Messi’s home. Remaining tight-lipped on if he had spoken with Messi about a potential return to his former club, Xavi said it is for Messi to decide his future but at the same time hasn’t ruled out this becoming a reality.

"This is his home and the doors are open to him. There is no doubt about it. He is a friend, we are in permanent contact. It will depend a lot on him, on what he wants to do in his future, on what the club wants to do as well," Xavi said about&nbsp;Lionel Messi.

Meanwhile, Messi left FC Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, after spending good 21&nbsp;years at the club where he achieved unparalleled success in addition to winning seven Ballon d’Or titles – considered to be the greatest individual prize in football.

When asked if the recently-crowned World Cup winner be able to fit in the current squad, Xavi said a player of Messi’s stature could fit in any squad.

"He is the best in the world and in history; he would always fit in," Xavi added.

Plying his trade in France at the moment, Messi’s PSG is currently leading the points table in Ligue 1 while they trail 0-1 against Bayern Munich in their round-of-16 clash in the Champions League with the second leg scheduled to take place at Allianz Arena on Thursday, March 9th.

Xavi’s Barcelona ready to take down United in away fixture

Having played a 2-2 draw at home in the first leg, Barcelona will take on the spirited Manchester United in an away clash on Wednesday at Old Trafford. United, who are cruising ahead with some stunning spells on the football pitch lately, will be a tougher challenge for the traveling Barcelona said, Xavi reckons. Hailing Manchester United’s current side as one of the best in Europe at the moment, Xavi opined for Barcelona to beat them at their home, they need to show both mentality and character.

"It's a very difficult game. Manchester United is one of the best teams in Europe. On many levels they are the best United have been in recent years. At Camp Nou, they showed a lot of personality, a lot of character, a lot of pace. We need the mentality to win a big game in Europe," said Xavi. "It's a perfect occasion to show that Barcelona can compete against one of the big teams in Europe. It's a very good opportunity. It's a test; every game for Barcelona is a test, this one with more emphasis.”

Marcus Rashford showed Manchester United won't be distracted by the race to buy the Old Trafford club as his double inspired a 3-0 win against Leicester on Sunday. United owners the Glazer family are considering rival offers from Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, chairman of one of Qatar's biggest banks, and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe. Further bids could still be made amid reports United may be under new ownership within six weeks -- but Erik ten Hag's side have kept their focus firmly on the pitch. Rashford has been the key to United's impressive form in Ten Hag's first season and the England forward proved too hot for Leicester to handle at Old Trafford.

Rashford has scored 24 times in all competitions for United this season, the highest goal tally he has ever managed in a single campaign.

Remarkably, 16 of those goals have come in 17 appearances since he returned from the World Cup in December.

The 25-year-old is also the first United player to score in seven consecutive home league games since Wayne Rooney in 2010.

Rashford endured a difficult period prior to Ten Hag's appointment last season, sparking suggestions the forward might look to leave Old Trafford.

But Rashford is now United's most influential player as he rediscovers the form that made him a teen sensation.

<h3>Silverware drought</h3>

United sit third in the table, just five points behind leaders Arsenal, after a third win in their last four league matches.

Ten Hag has played down his side's hopes of catching Arsenal, who have a game in hand on United.

But if United do fall short in the title race, there are other opportunities to make it a memorable season in what could be the final campaign of the unpopular Glazers' 18-year reign.

United are without a major trophy since 2017, when they won the League Cup and the Europa League, while their last Premier League crown came 10 years ago.

The silverware drought could end this term, with United hosting Barcelona in the second leg of their Europa League play-off on Thursday before playing Newcastle in the League Cup final three days later.

United are also through to the FA Cup fifth round, where they face West Ham in March.

<h3>Rampant Rashford</h3>

After drawing 2-2 at Barcelona on Thursday, Ten Hag made five changes to freshen up his team ahead of their pivotal week.

David De Gea made a superb save to deny Harvey Barnes in the early stages after the Leicester winger surged onto Kelechi Iheanacho's pass.

Harry Souttar headed just over from the resulting corner before Iheanacho's deflected effort rolled narrowly wide.

Only De Gea was keeping United afloat and the Spaniard plunged to his right to make a brilliant stop from Iheanacho's stooping header.

Fittingly, De Gea finished with his 180th United clean-sheet, moving him level with Peter Schmeichel's all time record for the club.

After Leicester's barrage, they were hit with a Rashford sucker punch in the 25th minute.

Bruno Fernandes's deft pass with the outside of his boot exposed Leicester's creaky offside trap, and Rashford sprinted clear to fire a clinical finish into the far corner from 12 yards.

Rashford's goal came against the run of play, but it was reward for Ten Hag's decision to deploy his star as United's central striker rather than on the flanks.

United had seized the momentum and they should have been two up when Diogo Dalot somehow shanked Fernandes's cross wide from close-range.

Rashford's speed and movement made him unplayable at times and he doubled United's lead in the 56th minute.

Accelerating onto Fred's pass, Rashford guided a composed finish past Ward, with his celebrations briefly halted by an offside flag that was overturned by VAR.

Leicester were in disarray and Jadon Sancho put the result beyond doubt in the 61st minute when the substitute slotted home from Fernandes's pass.

Also Read: Nick Pope's red card against Liverpool leaves Newcastle in goalkeeping dilemma ahead of EFL Cup final Silverware drought United sit third in the table, just five points behind leaders Arsenal, after a third win in their last four league matches. Rampant Rashford After drawing 2-2 at Barcelona on Thursday, Ten Hag made five changes to freshen up his team ahead of their pivotal week. Alongside Al Thani, he submitted a formal bid just before the 10 PM deadline on Friday. Currently, the Glazers family owns Manchester United since 2005 but the fans have been adamant to force them out, primarily for not doing enough for the club. Succumbing to the pressure, the American group in November last year shared their interest in seeking outside investment in the club. The Glazers peg the club at $7.2 billion but the industry experts, as per ESPN, believe that the realistic price tag is around $5.4 billion. Notably, United is not the only club in the 'Big-six' that might be sold in the upcoming months. Rumours have been swirling around the potential sale of United's arch-rival Liverpool to Qatar-based businesses too. Similarly, Tottenham Hotspurs could be in for a takeover attempt from another gulf country. It's official! Qatari banker and British billionaire Ratcliffe submit bids for Manchester United

Barcelona and&nbsp;Manchester&nbsp;United&nbsp;played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Europa League play-off tie on Thursday, while Juventus were left frustrated by Nantes in a 1-1 stalemate. The game at the Camp Nou brought together two European giants who met in two Champions League finals in 2009 and 2011, and who are both in excellent form domestically. After a goalless first half, La Liga leaders Barcelona went ahead five minutes into the second half thanks to a Marcos Alonso header at a corner.

However,&nbsp;United&nbsp;drew level just three minutes later when Marcus Rashford beat Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen at his near post to score a 13th goal in 15 games since the World Cup. The Premier League side then took the lead just before the hour mark through a Jules Kounde own goal, but a Raphinha cross flew in inside the final quarter of an hour to secure a draw for Barca before a crowd of more than 90,000.

"I think it was a great game. Two attacking teams, I think it was a Champions League game, even more than that,"&nbsp;United&nbsp;boss Erik ten Hag told broadcaster BT Sport. "We have to finish it in Old Trafford." Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez was left complaining that his side should have had a penalty for a handball by Fred. "It's a stolen penalty," said Xavi. "I don't know why they don't whistle for penalties for handball now. It seems incredible to me. Incredible."

Winning the Europa League may represent the best chance for Juventus to return to the Champions League next season after they were handed a 15-point deduction in Serie A. That punishment, for what the Italian Football Federation ruled was illicit transfer activity designed to artificially boost their accounts, has left the Turin giants 12 points adrift of the top four at home.

Against Nantes they looked on course for a comfortable win when Federico Chiesa nodded a ball across the face of goal for Dusan Vlahovic to open the scoring early on. But French Cup holders Nantes equalised on the breakaway on the hour when Ludovic Blas ran through to finish emphatically. A Chiesa shot then hit the underside of the bar and bounced down without quite all of the ball crossing the line, before it struck the post and rebounded away.

Nantes also survived a VAR penalty check for a handball deep in injury time, the referee instead giving them a free-kick and leaving Juventus with work to do in the return.

An own goal by Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky had put Monaco ahead early on only for second-half goals by Moussa Diaby and Florian Wirtz to turn the game around. However, Krepin Diatta pulled the principality team back level before France defender Disasi's strike.

Shakhtar Donetsk were 2-1 winners against Rennes as the Ukrainian club played their first European game since selling star winger Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea. Playing in the Polish capital Warsaw, Dmytro Kryskiv put Shakhtar ahead and Artem Bondarenko netted a penalty before Karl Toko-Ekambi pulled one back for Rennes.

Jose Mourinho's Roma went down 1-0 away to Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg with Argentine midfielder Nicolas Capaldo scoring a late winner. Sevilla, the competition's most successful club, beat PSV Eindhoven 3-0 in Spain as Youssef En-Nesyri, Lucas Ocampos and Nemanja Gudelj all netted.

Ajax drew 0-0 with Union Berlin, while Sebastian Coates scored deep into stoppage time to earn Sporting a 1-1 draw with Midtjylland of Denmark in Lisbon. The second legs will be played next Thursday with places in the last 16 up for grabs alongside the eight teams who topped their groups. Fiorentina were the biggest winners in the first legs of the Europa Conference League play-offs as they trounced Braga 4-0 in Portugal.

Manchester United squared off with Barcelona in the UEFA Europa League clash, which ended in a thrilling 2-2 scoreline. Marcos Alonso scored the first goal, for Barcelona, but Man United levelled it pretty soon with in-form Marcus Rashford scoring in the 52nd minute. Jules Kounde provided a 2-1 lead for the Red Devils before Raphinha scored for the Spanish club and the match ended in a 2-2 stalemate.&nbsp;

After the game, Rashford opined on the high-voltage clash, held at the&nbsp;Camp Nou stadium, and feels that his side controlled proceedings in the first half but had some good opportunities which could have&nbsp;put them&nbsp;ahead.&nbsp;

“We started the game really well. There was good control and possession. We had moments in the first half but not really as many clear cut chances, just good moments that could have been great opportunities I think,” said Rashford.

He added, "From the first couple of minutes putting the ball across the face of the goal is a massive chance. It ends up not really a chance because no one was there, but in reality, it's a massive opportunity for us and we just have to gamble more and try and get in front of the goalkeeper, in front of the six-yard box for tap-ins."

The 25-year-old Rashford added that Man United need to capitalise on big moments as they make all the difference in such marquee encounters. He went on to add&nbsp;that the club&nbsp;can build on this performance&nbsp;in&nbsp;the second leg at Old Trafford.

“So yeah, in big games it's big moments that make the difference. I feel like, especially in the second half we took them but in the first half, we probably could have done more. But again, as I said, they're a top team and I think we got what we expected today in terms of their playing style and what they're good at. It's a good performance from us and one to build on and improve on.

“We have to move on now and 2-2 is a result we can take back. We can definitely take that performance, we have a league game in between, but for the next game we want to bring all that we can,” Rashford concluded.

The second leg between both sides will take place on February 24 at Old Trafford and Man United will be eager to get past Barcelona in front of a jam-packed home crowd.

Europa League: Marcus Rashford reacts after Manchester United's thrilling draw vs Barcelona

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag gave an earful to the referees after his side was not granted a penalty during the Europa League match against Barcelona on Thursday night.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag gave an earful to the referees after his side was not granted a penalty during the Europa League match against Barcelona on Thursday night. In a post-match interview, ten Hag let it rip and said Barca defender Jules Kounde should have been sent off for his foul on Marcus Rashford. "If I may make a point that has a big influence not only on this game but on this round, at 2-1, it was a clear foul on Marcus Rashford. We can discuss if it's inside the box or outside the box, but definitely it's a red card. Yes, I asked the referee why. So he said it was outside the box, and it was no foul," said a visibly angry Ten Hag. The Dutch manager took a shot at Barcelona for their pressure antics on the referee. "And the linesman and referee were in a very good position to see and I think we had VAR. I think it's not good, it was a really bad decision. I can't understand. Maybe they were impressed by the pressure Barca made but they can't be [like that at] the highest European level." Ten Hag was furious about the decision from on-field referee Maurizio Mariani and VAR to let Kounde continue after he blatantly fouled Rashford outside the penalty box when the Red Devil player had a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Though the first half remained goalless, both sides created plenty of chances before exploding on the other side of the whistle. Home side Barcelona drew the first blood when they took the lead through Marcos Alonso's header, jut five minutes into the second half. Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has made a big claim with regards to the Old Trafford club. The former full-back feels the Red Devils are not ready for the title race just yet. Talking about the Erik Ten Hag-led side, it went past Leeds 2-0 in their recent outing in the ongoing Premier League courtesy of strikes from in-form Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho. Speaking on the sidelines, Neville revealed why he feels the premier club is far away from winning the elite title.&nbsp;

Neville also felt that Man United won't be able to get the better of Leeds -- which they eventually did -- and said that manager Erik Ten Hag is prioritizing their upcoming UEFA Europa League clash against Barcelona. "Interestingly, I was watching the second half against Leeds, and I thought they weren't going to get the goal and get the win. I thought Erik ten Hag has had to prioritize the Barcelona game because he put Raphael Varane on the bench to save him for that game on Thursday and played Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw at centre-back,” Neville pointed out.

Further, the Man United legend Neville feels the club is not at the level of Man City and Arsenal; the current table-toppers in EPL 2022/23. "I just don't think they can win the Premier League for the reasons that they have so many games and I just don't think they are at the level of Man City and Arsenal.&nbsp;Also, United are in all the cup competitions still. They have all those games, playing every three days.

"I just think it will be too much for them but if they are in it come March and April, they'll have a massive chance with seven or eight games to go. So, they have just got to hang in there and hope that Arsenal and Man City aren't quite right towards the end of the season, but I just think they aren't quite ready yet,” Neville pointed out.

Man United will certainly have a point to prove going forward. They are currently at the third spot in the EPL standings but haven't won the trust of many former players and experts with regard to winning the title this year. Currently, they have shifted their focus to Europa League where they face Barcelona on February 16 before they host Leicester City on February 19 in the Premier League.

Former Liverpool player turned pundit Jamie Carragher has admitted that he was wrong about Manchester United's centre-back Lisandro Martinez. Despite being a harsh critic of the Argentine since his early days in the league, Carragher confessed that Martinez had revived United's backline.

Former Liverpool player turned pundit Jamie Carragher has admitted that he was wrong about Manchester United's centre-back Lisandro Martinez. Despite being a harsh critic of the Argentine since his early days in the league, Carragher confessed that Martinez had revived United's backline. “I think he’s been brilliant. To be that small and play centre-back, you’ve obviously got to be a special player, a good player. Now, I didn’t think someone of that size could cope in the Premier League and he has coped," said Carragher in a Sky show. “I think he’s been brilliant. When I said before about United’s spirit, I think he’s been a big part. I think there was a game I saw a few weeks ago, he was actually subbed and someone scored maybe a late goal." "At the World Cup with Argentina, we saw him have that fight – with him and Casemiro coming in, they feel more powerful and strong." "Every player has weaknesses; the best players hide them or make sure they don't get exposed. He's a really good player and he's surprised me with the way he's coped." "Now, we should never judge managers or players too early, but I'm convinced this can't work because the size of him playing in a back four," he said at the time. "Maybe he could go left-back, maybe he could play in a back three, but in a back four, he cannot play there in the Premier League." While Martinez has impressed with his performance in the league, he was equally brilliant during the FIFA World Cup for his national side. Whenever called upon by coach Lionel Scaloni, Martinez put in a stellar shift. Off the five games in Qatar, Martinez started in two. (With inputs from agencies) WATCH WION LIVE HERE:

Premier League clubs Manchester United and Crystal Palace have been charged by the English FA for failing to handle their players following a brawl last week. The two clubs are now expected to foot a fine and have until Monday to respond. "Manchester United FC and Crystal Palace FC have been charged following a mass confrontation between their players in the 67th minute of the Premier League fixture on Saturday 4 February 2023," read a statement by the FA. The FA was especially severe on United after one of its players exhibited violent behaviour during the melee. "It's alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour, and it's also alleged that Manchester United FC failed to ensure its players refrained from violent behaviour." After the challenge, the United players on the pitch as well as the dugout hurtled towards Schlupp who waited for his cavalry to arrive. Soon, the conflict transformed into a 20-man brawl. Raphael Varane, Fred and Casemiro in particular were the most animated during the altercation. Casemiro took things a touch far when he grabbed Palace midfielder Will Hughes by the throat. The VAR intervened and advised on-pitch referee Andre Marriner to give the Brazilian a straight red card. He is now serving a three-match ban. His absence had a sizeable effect on the team's performance when United conceded twice against Leeds United on Wednesday before fashioning a stunning comeback. A Paris court on Thursday convicted Former Manchester United player Patrice Evra for posting homophobic abuse online in 2019. Evra posted a highly homophobic and expletive-ridden monologue after United beat Paris Saint-Germain in a Champions League clash.&nbsp;

Evra, who was not present in the court has been fined $1,078 and ordered to pay $2,156 compensation to two&nbsp;anti-campaign hate groups.&nbsp;

What did Evra do?

Evra took to social media to post a video after his former side beat PSG in their own backyard, having lost the first leg at Old Trafford 2-0. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was all praise for Jadon Sancho, after the youngster came off the bench and scored a decisive goal to secure a draw against Leeds United on Wednesday night, having endured a tough last few months. "I'm really happy he is in the right direction," said Ten Hag before adding, "I hope he can keep this momentum going and I'm sure it will strengthen him and motivate him to do even more." "I think it's in his own hands. So if he wants, he can do. And this team is great to play in, will give you joy but I really enjoy seeing him play the way he did with so much confidence, with so much belief, really direct. It was great to see him play in this attack." Sancho had been away from footballing action and scored his first goal in United shirt since September last year. A week ago, he made his first appearance against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fourth-round match. "It's clear it's a difficult period that he finds himself out. I'm pleased and I'm proud he did it. So I will back him, the coaches will back him, the team is backing him and supporting him in this process and finally he has to do it by himself," added the Dutch manager. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was not happy after his team's performance against Leeds United on Wednesday in the Premier League encounter. Though the Red Devils made a stunning comeback after being two goals behind, the Dutch manager was not pleased. "Of course, in the end, we are happy because you win a point, but also you drop two points because we had in each half a very bad start," said Ten Hag in a post-match conference. "It's unacceptable, especially in a derby. In every game, but especially a derby, you have to be ready to play and to battle and take responsibility, and that is what we didn't do," he added. United were slow off the blocks against the visitors as Wilfried Gnonto scored in the first minute. The problems were compounded for United when former French international Raphael Varane conceded an own goal, three minutes into the second half. 'It's unacceptable...': United manager Erik Ten Hag unimpressed after performance against Leeds

Qatari investors are planning to make a huge bid to buy Premier League club Manchester United, the Daily Mail newspaper reported on Tuesday, citing unnamed sources. The report described the investors as "a group of private, high-wealth individuals" from Qatar, which hosted the 2022 World Cup. Meanwhile, Manchester United declined to comment when contacted by Reuters.

Manchester United's New York-listed shares jumped nearly 16.5% in premarket trading. Bloomberg News reported last month that Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), which owns Paris St Germain, was considering either a total takeover or a stake in Manchester United or their rivals Liverpool. QSI is a state-backed body founded by the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, but European soccer governing body UEFA has strict integrity rules regarding multi-club ownership.

No club participating in its competitions is allowed to "directly or indirectly hold or deal in the securities or shares of any other club".

In 2017, Bundesliga side RB Leipzig and Austrian side Salzburg were both cleared to play in the Champions League after UEFA said it was satisfied that energy drinks manufacturer Red Bull did not have a controlling influence in both clubs.

The Daily Mail report states the interested investors are separate from QSI, and that the money will come from an "individual fund" rather than a sovereign wealth fund. Jim Ratcliffe's company INEOS formally entered the bidding process to buy United last month after the club's U.S. owners, the Glazer family, said in November they had begun looking at options including new investment or a potential sale.

Manchester&nbsp;United fans have been clamouring for a change of ownership and the Glazers have been the target of intense criticism as the team last won silverware back in 2017, lifting the Europa League and League Cup trophies. In April, thousands protested outside Old Trafford, lighting flares and singing songs demanding the Glazers "get out of the club".

United's net debt, another bone of contention among fans, had grown to 515 million pounds ($620.42 million) by September. The team, managed by Erik ten Hag, are third in the league on 42 points after 21 games, three points behind Manchester City but eight adrift of leaders Arsenal, who have played a game less.
