“Edalate Ali” or “The Justice of Ali,” hackers claimed responsibility for the hack.&nbsp;They released a 44-second clip which had chants of “Death to Khamenei” and “Death to the Islamic Republic”. The group previously hacked into the notorious Evin prison and other government facilities.

They had last week invited people to take part in nationwide protests and urged citizens to withdraw their money from the Iranian&nbsp;banks.

Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof, who won the 2020 Berlin Golden Bear for 'There Is No Evil', has been temporarily released from Tehran’s Evin prison. He was arrested last July for criticising the Iranian government on social media.

The 50-year-old director was incarcerated for posting an appeal urging Iranian security forces to stop using force and weapons during May protests that were prompted by a building collapse in the southwestern city of Abadan.

He has now been released for health reasons and is at home, according to several reports coming from the region. The director’s lawyer, Maryam Kianersi, told French News Agency AFPT that his incarceration has been suspended only for two weeks due to medical reasons.

'There Is No Evil' producer Farzad Pak spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and confirmed Rasoulof's temporary release. "Mohammad was released on bail for medical reasons [but] there are still other accusations [against him] that the course hasn’t made a decision on yet,"&nbsp;said Pak. "They [the court] might take him back [into jail] or leave him in limbo."

Rasoulof’s temporary release comes days after filmmaker Jafar Panahi, who is his close friend, was released from Tehran’s Evin prison after announcing he was going on a hunger strike. Panahi is currently out on bail and his case will reportedly be reviewed in March.&nbsp;

Both Panahi and Rasoulof were sentenced to six years in prison in 2011 and were given a 20-year ban on filmmaking for their allegedly spreading "anti-regime&nbsp;propaganda". Rasoulof’s sentence was later suspended and he was released on bail. However, after the festival tour of his 2017 drama 'A Man of Integrity', which won Cannes’ Un Certain Regard prize for best film, Rasoulof's passport was confiscated and he was forbidden from leaving the country.

Her sister, Elahe Mohammadi, was arrested on September 29 after reporting for Hammihan from Amini's funeral.&nbsp;

The journalist was subsequently charged with "propaganda against the system and conspiracy to act against national security", offences punishable by death.

The procession in Amini's home town of Saqez in Kurdistan province turned into one of the first protest actions, followed by more than four months of unrest.

Iran's judiciary has expedited in recent weeks the processes to sentence or free on bail journalists and other people arrested in connection with the protests, generally described by authorities as "riots".

Shargh reported Sunday that Hossein Yazdi, a journalist arrested on December 5, had been sentenced to a year in prison besides a two-year travel ban.

He was the "manager of Mobin 24 website and Iran Times news channel", Shargh said, without elaborating on the charges against him.

"Today I have summoned the Iranian Chargé d’Affaires to condemn in the strongest possible terms the abhorrent executions we witnessed over the weekend," Cleverly said in a statement.

France, too, followed suit on Monday and summoned Iran’s envoy over the regime’s crackdown on demonstrations.

"The Iranian charge d'affaires will be summoned today to the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs to convey our firmest condemnation of these executions and the current repression in Iran," the&nbsp;ministry&nbsp;said.

Meanwhile, Germany lodged its protest against the executions, with Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock calling Iranian envoy in Berlin "to make unmistakably clear that the brutal repression, the oppression and the terrorising of its own population as well as the most recent two executions will not remain without&nbsp;consequence".

The court also ordered retrials for three other convicts who were given death sentences for similar offences. Meanwhile, a lower court in Iran sentenced an 18-year-old to death in a similar case related to the protests which took place all around the country.

In the statement, Supreme Court said that the appeals filed by Mohammad Mahdi Karami and Seyed Mohammad Hosseini "were not found to be valid, so their sentences were upheld and approved".

The court ruling stated that Ghare-Hasanlou, his wife and a doctor were "caught up in the chaos" and at present, no one of them could be directly implicated in the death of the paramilitary.

An Oslo-based group Iran Human Rights (IHR) said on Wednesday that more than 100 Iranians are currently facing charges punishable by death in connection with the protests that took place all around the country after the death of Mahsa Amini. The Iranian authorities have already executed two people for their involvement in protests and the country’s Supreme Court said recently that many more are facing similar charges and it expects to announce the punishments in the near future.

In a report published by IHR, the rights group named 100 such detainees who can be facing capital punishment – 11 of whom are already sentenced to death. According to The Guardian, the report also said that they were not represented properly and have limited access to basic amenities.

“By issuing death sentences and executing some of them, [the authorities] want to make people go home,” said IHR director Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, according to the report.

“It has some effect … [but] what we’ve observed in general is more anger against the authorities. Their strategy of spreading fear through executions has failed,” he added.

An Iranian man died by suicide in France's southeastern city of Lyon on Tuesday. The man took the step&nbsp;after announcing on social media that he was going to kill himself to ensure that the world pays attention to the reported crackdown on women protesters in Iran.&nbsp; Mohammad Moradi, 38, was found in the Rhone river that flows through the centre of Lyon late on Monday, an anonymous police source was quoted as saying by the news agency AFP. A small rally in Moradi's remembrance also took place on the banks of Rhone.&nbsp;Mourners placed candles and wreaths on the riverside railings.

"Mohammad Moradi killed himself to make the voice of revolution heard in Iran. Our voice is not carried by Western media,"&nbsp;Timothee Amini of the local Iranian community told AFP.&nbsp;

'His heart was beating for Iran'

Moradi was reportedly a history undergraduate and worked in a restaurant.&nbsp;He lived in Lyon with his wife for three years.

"His heart was beating for Iran, he could no longer bear the regime,"&nbsp;said Amini.

Protests have gripped Iran for over three months.

The Oslo-based group Iran Human Rights (IHR) said on Tuesday that 476 protesters have been killed in the violent crackdown with at least 100 Iranians facing execution over the protests. So far, two young men have already been executed.

Her arrest also generated anger on social media, with exiled actor Golshifteh Farahani calling her "the brave actress of Iran" and demanding her release.

During the street protests, banners of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have been set alight, women have openly walked down streets without headscarves, and demonstrators have at times sought to challenge the security forces.

Iran: President Raisi says crackdown on protesters will continue; Sunni cleric questions execution

About 1,200 university students in Iran were admitted to hospital due to food poisoning a day before their anti-regime protest, leading many to suspect the role of the government.&nbsp;In the past few days, students of Kharazmi and Ark universities experienced symptoms like vomiting, severe bodyache&nbsp;and hallucinations, the Telegram channel of the national student union claimed on Thursday.

Officials have claimed that water-borne bacteria was the cause of the symptoms, but the student union believes that they were deliberately poisoned.

Some days before,&nbsp;similar food poisoning breakouts were reported at two other universities, Al-Zahra University in Tehran and Isfahan University of Technology, and both were believed to have originated from canteens.

“Our past experiences of similar incidents at the Isfahan University negates the authorities’ reason for this mass food poisoning,” the group wrote on Telegram.

According to reports, some university clinics closed down or ran out of supplies to treat dehydration, leading to speculation that the outbreak was planned to curb the three-day strike in response to the Iranian regime’s claims to have shut down the controversial morality police, Arab News reported.

Following the incident, students of Isfahan University protested, demanding the resignation of the university officials.

Iranian’s former Mohammad Khatami came out in support of the protesters and urged the officials to consider their demands "before it is too late".

The protests have been pressing the government to outlaw hijab laws, following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini who died in custody after she was detained for breaking the hijab dress code.

Khatami said the "beautiful slogan" of "woman, life, freedom" showed Iranian society was moving towards a better future.

The 79-year-old leader, who served two terms as president between 1997 and 2005, criticised the arrests of students in the security forces' crackdown.

The comments came in a statement to mark Student Day on Wednesday.

A restaurant and a jewellery shop belonging to Iranian football legend Ali Daei have been sealed, following a judicial order after he backed the ongoing protests.&nbsp;

According to ISNA news agency, Daei's two shops situated in Tehran's fashionable north end have been immediately shut down.&nbsp;

"Following the cooperation with anti-revolutionary groups in cyberspace to disrupt peace and business of the market, a judicial order was issued to seal&nbsp;Noor Jewellery Gallery," reported the agency.&nbsp;

The order by the Iranian judiciary comes roughly a week after&nbsp;Daei said he had been targetted by threats for backing the protests, triggered by the death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini at the hands of Iran's morality police.&nbsp;

"I have received numerous threats against myself and my family in recent months and days from some organisations, medias and unknown individuals," said Daei in an Instagram post.

"I was taught humanity, honour, patriotism and freedom...What do you want to achieve with such threats?" he added.&nbsp;

Rumours had been swirling last month that the Iranian authorities arrested Daei and put him on a death sentence. After the news spread like fire, the Iranian Football Federation released a statement and denied that such an incident had took place.&nbsp;

The protests in Iran have been ongoing for over three months now. The demonstrators on Sunday called for a three-day strike this week, including a rally to Tehran's Azadi (Freedom) Square on Wednesday which was supported by Daei.&nbsp;

Daei held the record for the highest international goalscorer (109) in the world for a long time before Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed it last year. He achieved the record in a mere 148 appearances between 1993 and 2006. He is widely regarded as one of the legends of the game.&nbsp;

According to AFP, the prosecutors in the case told the court that Ajamian was killed by a group of people who were paying tribute to a protester Hadis Najafi. Najafi was killed in the protests following the death of Mahsa Amini and during the ceremonies making 40 days of her death, the mourners attacked members of the paramilitary forces and Ajamian ended up losing his life.

While the trial started with 11 people on the stands, four more were added by the police under the accusation of “corruption on earth”. Mizan Online website reported that all 15 defendants were charged in relation to the crimes and were handed out various degrees of punishments.

The attorney general made these remarks on Saturday at a religious conference while responding&nbsp;to a participant who asked "why the morality police were being shut down", the report said.

The announcement came a day after Jafar Montazeri said that "both parliament and the judiciary are working (on the issue)" of whether the law requiring women to cover their heads needs to be changed.

However, he did not specify what could be modified in the law by the two bodies, which are both largely in the hands of conservatives.

The decision also comes in the wake of intense pressure from the opposition parties to abolish the morality police units.&nbsp;

On Saturday, the Union of Islamic Iran People Party, formed by relatives of former reformist president Mohammad Khatami, demanded that authorities “prepare the legal elements paving the way for the cancellation of the mandatory hijab law”.

The opposition also called for the Islamic republic to “officially announce the end of the activities of the morality police” and “allow peaceful demonstrations”, it said in a statement.

The "Morality Police" or the Gasht-e Ershad or "Guidance Patrol" has been subject to international sanctions for the crackdown against protesters.&nbsp;It was established during the regime of hardline president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to "spread the culture of modesty and hijab". They began patrolling&nbsp;in 2006.

Women protesters have been burning&nbsp;their hijab, chopping their hair, shouting&nbsp;anti-government slogans and tossing&nbsp;turbans off Muslim clerics' heads&nbsp;since Amini's death on September 16.
