Sen, a student of fashion marketing and communication, has grabbed the limelight with his Milan photoshoot, which has become the internet's new obsession.

Barker teased the new tattoo on his Instagram Story by snapping a photo of a tattooing setup before sharing a black imprint of Kardashian's lips.

Jay Ellis was buying snacks at a corner bodega in Harlem when a woman in a crop top and Ray-Bans approached him. “Oh, my God, I’m so happy!” she said.

This was on a sticky Monday in September, halfway through a walking tour of Harlem, where Ellis had lived, on and off, in the mid-2000s, when he was a model trying to break into acting. After years of sporadic work, he landed a starring role on BET’s “The Game,” a comedy-drama set in the world of professional football, then was booked as the romantic lead on the HBO comedy “Insecure,” playing Lawrence, the boyfriend of series creator Issa Rae’s Issa.

At the end of the show’s first season, Issa cheats on Lawrence. Lawrence retaliates by dangling the promise of a reunion, then bedding a co-worker. Which means that attitudes toward the character — and Ellis — are pretty divisive. (“Insecure” returns for a fifth and final season Sunday.)

“I’m not a fan of yours,” the woman in the bodega clarified. “That payback wasn’t right. Nonetheless, you’re a great actor.”

Ellis, 39, favored her with his Sunday morning smile, then left with his water and unsalted cashews.
A skyscraper of a man with dizzying charisma, Ellis, 6-foot-3, had overdressed for the day in jeans, a Comme des Garçons striped shirt, a slate jacket and sneakers the blinding white of new veneers. He met the tour guide, Neal Shoemaker, at the offices of Harlem Heritage Tours on Malcolm X Boulevard. Together they set off for a shambolic stroll through the neighborhood.

“You may meet my mom any minute now,” Shoemaker said as he led Ellis onto the basketball court at the center of Martin Luther King Jr. Towers. Fourteen floors up, Shoemaker’s aunt waved furiously from a window. Shoemaker shouted up to her, teasingly introducing Ellis as her “new nephew.”

Next, they walked through the African market near West 116th Street and past the Masjid Malcolm Shabazz, where incense clouded the late-summer air and a nearby cafe advertised male enhancements and veggie burgers. Ellis had barely been back in 15 years. The burned-out brownstones had been renovated, he noted. And the police presence seemed lighter.

The tour continued past Minton’s Playhouse and alongside Marcus Garvey Park, the site of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival that was chronicled in the documentary “Summer of Soul,” which Ellis had just seen. He stopped outside the house where Maya Angelou once lived, admiring the ivy that tumbled from the lintel.

Throughout the walk, fans stopped Ellis for greetings and pictures — “Take it with me, not of me,” Ellis said to an excitable middle-aged woman who had halted her car just to snap him. Friends and relatives stopped Shoemaker, too, and Ellis, who lives in Los Angeles with his wife and baby daughter, seemed a little jealous of the humming street life.

“It’s the music mecca for Black culture,” Ellis said. “It’s the style mecca. Religiously, it’s a mecca. I come here, and I’m like, ‘Why am I living in LA?’”

Ellis, the only child of an Air Force family, moved to Los Angeles just after his Harlem years. He briefly gave up on acting, then recommitted. A plucky hustle — he pretended that a casting agent had recommended him — hooked him a decent manager, and after a couple of years of acting classes, he began to book roles.

None has meant as much to him as Lawrence, a character who struggles with the obligations of Black masculinity. Lawrence wasn’t supposed to make it past Season 1, but something about Ellis’ layered portrayal made him a fan favorite. And a least favorite.

“I always say that if people are mad at me, if people are happy with me, if they’re sad or whatever, then I did my job,” he said. “Even if you hate Lawrence, I did my job because you felt something. I hope you love him because I love him. But I get it if you don’t.”

Are Lawrence and Issa endgame? Ellis knew better than to comment. “I want both of them to be happy,” he said diplomatically. “I hope that it’s with each other.”

He has already begun his post-“Insecure” career, with a starring role in “Top Gun: Maverick,” due out next year. (His character’s nickname? Payback.) He recently signed onto a romantic comedy, “Somebody I Used to Know,” and is the co-creator of the podcast “Written Off,” which features the work of formerly incarcerated authors.

Ellis followed Shoemaker past Dapper Dan’s atelier, into the Harlem Haberdashery and cater-corner to Harlem Shake, where Ellis would return for a post-walk burger. On 125th Street, he stopped to read the text on a monument to the politician and civil rights leader Adam Clayton Powell Jr.

The tour ended at the Apollo Theater, “where stars are born, legends are made,” Shoemaker said. Ellis is already a star, but he still fantasizes about appearing in one of its amateur nights. Would he sing? Tell a joke?

“All of it,” Ellis said, flashing that slow-dance smile. “I’d do it all.”

Shoemaker pointed to an unoccupied rectangle on the Apollo’s Walk of Fame, next to Lionel Richie. “I can see Jay Ellis right there,” he said.

Ellis posed for a photo with a fan or two, including a teenager who recognized him from the thriller “Escape Room.” Then he and Shoemaker said a friendly goodbye.

“Appreciate you, chief,” Ellis called as he headed back down 125th Street. “Tell your mama I’m coming, I’m hungry.”

He recently signed onto a romantic comedy, “Somebody I Used to Know,” and is the co-creator of the podcast “Written Off,” which features the work of formerly incarcerated authors. “I’d do it all.” Shoemaker pointed to an unoccupied rectangle on the Apollo’s Walk of Fame, next to Lionel Richie.

It is no secret that stress levels are at an all-time high. Habits have transformed and life as we knew it, changed right in front of our eyes. A tangible psychological impact of going through this very tiring phase has manifested through different ways. Stress, anxiety and a nagging worry have been constant companions. If there is one strong lesson to be learnt during these times – it is your relationship with yourself and how important it is to love and pamper yourself to survive oddities. When external factors fail to delight, your need to depend on yourself to create a happy, positive environment, becomes significant. Looking and feeling good just for yourself, has gradually taken precedence over looking and feeling good either to impress or to socialize. One of the sure shot ways to improve your daily disposition is through fragrances!

Fragrances are highly potent in affecting various domains of human psychological functioning, ranging from perception and mood to cognitive processes and behavior. Olfactory bulbs are a part of the limbic system and directly connect to our mood responses. Multiple researchers and fragrance experts have concluded in the past that scents can be used to transform our surroundings as well as our mindset - with certain smells helping to relax us, while others giving our spirits a much-needed boost.

Here are some ways to use fragrances and tips for how to best incorporate them into your daily ‘Feel Good’ routine.

If you’re struggling to keep up an upbeat attitude, adding bright citrus scents or colognes can work wonders. There is no denial that working from home has been physically and mentally exhausting for most of us as everyone is trying to strike a balance between working-at-home and working-from-home. If you’re feeling low while sitting through the endless Zoom calls, wearing a perfume can help you energize and refresh. Spraying on stimulating fragrances, especially with citrus notes like lemon, orange bergamot, and fresh-picked mint like the newly launched Engage L’Amante Perfume, can further enhance alertness and promote concentration as well.

Missing your ordinary life and longing for the normalcy? A scent can be nostalgic and make you remember people, places, and things that you can’t interact with at the moment. Even if you are just at home, why not use the perfume you wear at work or during a night-out with friends?

Aiana Jain, beauty and lifestyle influencer says, “Fragrances are a part of most Indian households. From the attar my mom used, to the strong fragrance of spices and plants at home - this fascination turned into a passion for fragrances from all over. Despite that we are stationed at our homes, using a fragrance remains the high point of my day and my daily dressing ritual. Not only does it uplift my mood instantly but also serve the purpose of being nimble stress busters. Using floral and fruity scents can give me a high whereas using lingering, elegant fragrance with vanilla and tonka beans bring out a sense of being well groomed post a shower. I realized beside adding an extra oomph to my personality, fragrances can innately bust stress too. “

“Scents and a sense of relaxation are closely connected for me. Scents can have positive effects on our mood, stress reduction, sleep enhancement, self-confidence, and emotional performance as well. Our olfactory response is directly linked to the emotional center of our brain, causing a flood of feelings with every spritz.” said Jainam Vora aka Vorasahab, a lifestyle influencer.

In the country of salsa and rumba, a troupe of sneaker-wearing Cuban youngsters have burst onto the dance scene with a style until recently all but unheard of on the isolated island nation: hip hop.

Under US sanctions and with the Communist Party in charge of all aspects of daily life, including what people get to see on public television, Cubans have had little exposure to the American genre that has taken the rest of the world by storm.

But this changed suddenly with internet arriving in the one-party state in 2015 -- and mobile internet since 2018 -- with some 4.2 million of Cuba's 11.2 million people now connected.

With no other platform on which to ply their trade, 16-member Cuban dance troupe Datway (a play on That Way) have taken to Facebook and Instagram to display their unique brand of hip hop moves, blended with more traditional, home-grown styles.

It has launched them to international fame, even catching the eye of Daddy Yankee, dubbed the King of Reggaeton -- a Latin American music style that borrows heavily from hip hop and rap.

The Puerto Rican rapper, who co-starred on the hit single "Despacito", took to Instagram to comment: "Too good #Cuba" about a dance number the troupe performed to his latest hit "El Pony" and posted online.

In the video, the troupe jumps and gyrates to the reggaeton rhythm in sports clothes and sneakers, dyed hair and bandannas, and watched by a ragtag of neighborhood kids in a poor district of central Havana.

The video has earned them 2.2 million views.

"Hip hop videos from other countries are always (set) in these very beautiful places," Datway founder Dariel Lopez, aka Chaiky Dari, told AFP.

- Much talent, little exposure -

"We always look for places that are... well not ugly, because for us they are not ugly, but real -- those balconies in need of a touch of paint, young people and children who are not very well dressed," said the 23-year-old with his wild mop of hair, parts of it bleached blonde.

Chaiky Dari boasts 33,700 subscribers on Instagram, a high hit rate for a country with the third lowest fixed broadband speed, according to Speedtest, though it ranks 88th out of 134 for mobile speed.

Under a tin roof held up by walls covered in graffiti, the members of Datway train from Monday to Friday, shooting their videos on weekends.

The troupe of 18- to 32-year-olds have backgrounds in contemporary and folk dance, some even worked in circuses.

Sometimes they go out on the street, plugging in their sound system at the house of a neighbor -- an old lady who sells fruit from her front steps.

"Abroad, Cuba is still seen as the country of salsa," but "here there is also a lot of talent in hip-hop, with a lot of dancers from the street," said Liuven Dopico, 28, who himself learned to dance "in the street" and "by watching a lot of videos."

Datway's idea, however, is not to abandon their Cuban dance roots.

"We often mix hip hop with traditional Cuban music, we mix it all and we create something truly beautiful," said Dopico, his hair tinted turquoise.

"If it is a salsa we mix it with urban dance, if it is reggaeton, we add salsa steps to it," added Dari.

- 'The best!' -

Fellow troupe member Paloma Duarte, 23, started off as a classical ballet dancer, then worked in a folk dance company.

Now, "I feel complete as a dancer, I have all the styles!" she told AFP.

Duarte said the group receives frequent messages from amateur dancers, many of whom send in videos, as the hip hop phenomenon spreads.

But to encourage more youngsters, "it would be really good if at the level of the state, of television, there was some urban dance and not only salsa and rumba," she added.

In recent weeks, the glowing comments of Latin stars such as Daddy Yankee and Ricky Martin ("The best!", he wrote on Instagram), have propelled Datway to new heights, even signing a contract with a record company in Florida to appear in dance videos.

And when Puerto Rican-Cuban Reggaeton duo Ozuna and Ovi launched an online challenge, inviting dancers to choreograph a video for their new song "Envidioso", the winners were none other than Datway.

The group received a prize of $10,000 -- a fortune in a country where the minimum monthly salary is $87.

Half of the money will be used on "technology" -- better internet connection and filming equipment, said Ernesto Rodriguez, 32, the group's technical director.

"The rest was divided among the members, and I also gave money to the children" from the neighborhood, who appear in Datway's videos.

"If it is a salsa we mix it with urban dance, if it is reggaeton, we add salsa steps to it," added Dari. - 'The best!' - Fellow troupe member Paloma Duarte, 23, started off as a classical ballet dancer, then worked in a folk dance company.

Iraqis find escape, success on a virtual battleground

Gossip is often considered socially taboo and dismissed for its negative tone, but a quirky study from Dartmouth College illustrates some of its merits. Gossip facilitates social connection and enables learning about the world indirectly through other people`s experiences.

Gossip is not necessarily spreading rumours or saying bad things about other people but can include small talk in-person or online, such as having a private chat during a Zoom meeting. Prior research has found that approximately 14 per cent of people`s daily conversations are gossip, and primarily neutral in tone.

"A gossip is a complex form of communication that is often misunderstood," says Eshin Jolly, a post-doctoral researcher in the Computational Social Affective Neuroscience Laboratory (COSAN) who co-authored the study with Luke Chang, an assistant professor of psychological and brain sciences and director of the COSAN Lab at Dartmouth.

"It can be a means of social and substantive connection beyond its typical negative connotation," adds Jolly. Jolly and Chang were curious why people in their personal and professional lives spend so much time exchanging information about themselves and other people and sought to determine why people gossip and what function it serves.

They created a game online to examine the role of gossip and how it manifests as information becomes more uncertain within the game. Participants played 10 rounds of the game together in six-person groups. In each round, players were given USD 10 and could choose to keep the money or invest any portion of it into a group fund that was multiplied by 1.5x and divided equally among the players.

The game creates an inherent tension between selfish freeriding and cooperative behaviour and is considered what researchers refer to as a public goods game.In some conditions, information was restricted so that participants could only observe the behaviour of a few other players in their group."Our inspiration was creating a life-like scenario, in which you`re a member of a community and affected by the actions of all other community members, but most of whom you rarely observe and engage with directly," Jolly explained.

In some games, players could privately chat with another player in the group. This allowed players to relay information about other players` behaviour to their partner, such as whether another player was freeriding. Afterwards, players reported their willingness to play with each player again.

Published in the journal Current Biology, their findings demonstrate how gossip is a "rich, multifaceted communication" with several social functions.

Different types of gossip emerged depending on the amount of information available. Spontaneous conversations about others occurred more frequently during games when players could only observe the behaviour of a few of their group members. When players could directly observe all of their group members, they tended to chit-chat and discuss a wider array of topics.

Participants relied on second-hand information from their partners to stay informed about other peoples` behaviour that they could not see, illustrating how gossip enables individuals to learn from the experiences of others when direct observation is not feasible.

The findings also showed that participants who chatted with each other felt the most connected with each other at the end of the game and even shared similar impressions of the other players in their group.

Chang explains that "By exchanging information with others, gossip is a way of forming relationships. It involves trust and facilitates a social bond that is reinforced as further communication takes place."In a typical public goods game, players contribute less over time and an unravelling effect occurs that propagates through a network of people. However, in this study, cooperation declined less over time when players could privately communicate. Communication increased collective cooperation.

The researchers explain that gossip should not be relegated to just "baseless trash talk". According to the paper, the team`s findings on the role of gossip are consistent with creating a "shared reality" in which friends and colleagues often find common bonds, establish alliances, exchange personal information, and discuss the behaviour of others to establish a consensus of socially acceptable behaviour.

"Gossip can be useful because it helps people learn through the experiences of others while enabling them to become closer to each other in the process," says Jolly.

Researchers have investigated how philosophical approaches can be used to think in new ways about pain and its management. The researchers advocate not merely reducing chronic pain management to searching and treating underlying physical changes but instead adopting an approach that focuses on the person as a whole.

Dr Sabrina Coninx from Ruhr-Universitat Bochum and Dr Peter Stilwell from McGill University, Canada, have investigated how philosophical approaches can be used to think in new ways about pain and its management. The researchers advocate not merely reducing chronic pain management to searching and treating underlying physical changes but instead adopting an approach that focuses on the person as a whole.

Their work was published online in the journal `Synthese`.It is not currently possible to treat chronic pain effectively in many cases. This has encouraged researchers from various disciplines to consider new approaches to pain and its management over recent years.

"Pain research and clinical practice do not take place in a vacuum, but instead involve implicit assumptions regarding what pain is and how it can be treated," says Sabrina Coninx, research assistant at the Bochum research training group Situated Cognition. "Our aim is to shed light on these assumptions and discover how we can think in new ways about pain and its management with the help of philosophical approaches." In their work, the authors develop a holistic, integrative and action-oriented approach.

Viewing patients as a whole specific term, they suggest three things: firstly, addressing pain should involve more than just looking for and treating underlying physiological changes. A holistic approach places the focus on patients as a whole and creates space for their experiences, concerns, expectations and narratives. The influence of socio-cultural practices in the generation of chronic pain should also be taken into account. For example, pain patients are often initially encouraged to protect themselves from injury and avoid activity, which may be helpful in the beginning but can contribute to chronification in the long run.

Secondly, according to the researchers, chronic pain should be understood as a dynamic process in which many different factors interact in a non-linear way. The initial cause of pain, for instance, is not necessarily the cause of its chronification and also does not need to be the most crucial factor in treatment. The complex interaction of subjective experience, expectations, learned behavioural patterns, neural reorganisation, stigmatisation and other factors, therefore, needs to be considered.

Thirdly, according to Coninx and Stilwell, patients should be encouraged to interact with their environment and identify possibilities for action. This is based on the assumption that chronic pain fundamentally changes the way in which patients perceive themselves and their relationship with their environment.Pain treatment could therefore involve helping the patient to increasingly notice positively associated and personally meaningful options for action and view themselves as capable of taking action again. There is then less focus on the body as an obstacle, and instead, the patients pay more attention to how they can overcome limitations. (ANI)

A new season -- whether summer or winter -- always brings new vibes, new colours, and gives you an opportunity to redo your surroundings as per your mood.

Here are some ways to make your home refreshing and summer-ready by Raghunandan Saraf, CEO and Founder, Saraf Furniture.

Colourful outdoor setting:

We love summer sundowners, particularly when the gathering moves outside. Pick a comfortable open air seating set that encourages discussion and lingering. Some bright outside cushions and throws for are an absolute necessity. You can also spice up the setting with hint of string/ fairy lights. Consider string lights as mood, rather than task lighting for magical space.

Turn your porch into a lounge for summer evenings:

On the off chance that your house is lacking in space, transform your porch where you can simply unwind. With the correct furnishings and embellishments, your patio can give your little home an additional eating space. Giving your front entryway a coloured makeover adds additional style to your yard and a point of interest for your new outdoor space.

Amp up the bar station:

Summers call out for cool-refreshing drinks. Especially when the temperature heats up, one tends to find solace in the cool drinks. For the season, fresh and fruity summer cocktails deserve a dedicated station. You could always turn that little empty corner, or an otherwise unused area in your house as a make-shift bar station. As one says, `every party house needs a fantastic, spilling-over bar`.

Re-arrange Furniture:

The manner in which you utilise your home in the winters versus summers is most likely to be different. Winters mean more evenings cozied up with the TV or having individuals over for occasion parties, so the furniture mirrors that. In the summer, children are bound to play computer games or read in their rooms. Moving your furniture around prepares your home for a comfy summer. Beanbags by the shelves encourage reading and lounge chairs outdoors helps you keep an eye on the kids while they play.

Add summer scents into your House:

Probably the most ideal approach to freshen up your home for the mid-year is getting summer fragrances. Regardless of whether you love the solace of a candle or you incline toward scented oils, summer aromas can light up your state of mind. Search for brilliant, clean aromas like lemon and orange. Or then again, in case you`re a flower person, pick spring-prepared scents like lilac or rose.

Assuming spring is a period for recharging, summer is a period for basically enjoying your hard-work. By preparing your home, you can shake out the dust and laziness of colder climate and love your space in a bright, new, vaporous way.

[Finland], April 11 (ANI): During a recent study, researchers at the Obesity Research Unit of the University of Helsinki found that obesity clearly reduces mitochondrial gene expression in fat tissue or adipose tissue.

Mitochondria are important cellular powerplants that process all of our energy intakes. If the pathways associated with breaking down nutrients are lazy, the changes can often have health-related consequences. The study was recently published in the journal Cell Reports Medicine.

A total of 49 pairs of identical twins discordant for bodyweight participated in the study conducted at the University of Helsinki: their body composition and metabolism were studied in detail, and biopsies from adipose and muscle tissue were collected. Multiple techniques for analysing the genome-wide gene expression, the proteome, and the metabolome were used in the study.

According to the findings, the pathways responsible for mitochondrial metabolism in adipose tissue were greatly reduced by obesity. Since mitochondria are key to cellular energy production, their reduced function can maintain obesity. For the first time, the study also compared the effects of obesity specifically on the mitochondria in muscle tissue in these identical twin pairs: muscle mitochondria too were found to be out of tune, but the change was less distinct than in adipose tissue.

The study provided strong evidence of a connection between the low performance of adipose tissue mitochondria and a proinflammatory state. Furthermore, the findings indicate that metabolic changes in adipose tissue are associated with increased accumulation of fat in the liver, prediabetic disorders of glucose and insulin metabolism as well as cholesterol."If mitochondria, the cellular powerplants, are compared to the engine of a car, you could say that the power output decreases as weight increases.

A low-powered mitochondrial engine may also generate toxic exhaust fumes, which can cause a pro-inflammatory state in adipose tissue and, consequently, the onset of diseases associated with obesity," says Professor Kirsi Pietilainen from the Obesity Research Unit, University of Helsinki."What was surprising was that the mitochondrial pathways in muscle had no association with these adverse health effects," Pietilainen adds.

Obesity also affected amino acid metabolism. In the study, changes in mitochondrial function were also seen in amino acid metabolism. The metabolism of branched-chain amino acids, which are essential to humans, was weakened in the mitochondria of both adipose tissue and muscle tissue."This finding was of particular significance because the reduced breakdown of these amino acids and the resulting heightened concentration in blood has also been directly linked with prediabetic changes and the accumulation of liver fat in prior twin studies," says Pietilainen.

Obesity, with its numerous associated diseases, is a common phenomenon that is continuously increasing in prevalence. While lifestyle influences the onset of obesity, genes also have a significant role."Identical twins have the same genes, and their weight is usually fairly similar. In fact, studying twins is the best way to investigate the interplay between genes and lifestyle. In spite of their identical genome, the genes and even mitochondria of twins can function on different activity levels. We utilised this characteristic in our study when looking into the effects of weight on tissue function," Pietilainen says.

The findings of a new study by Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) suggest that women who suffer from vision, hearing, or dual sensory loss are more than twice as likely to report depression and anxiety compared to men who experience the same issues.

The research, which has been published in the International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, looked at survey data from more than 23,000 adults, where participants had self-reported whether they had suffered depression or anxiety, and also whether they experienced a vision, hearing, or dual (both vision and hearing) sensory impairment.

Across the whole sample, the prevalence of depression and anxiety was between 2 and 2.56 higher in women compared to men.

Women with dual sensory impairment were almost three and a half times more likely to report depression or anxiety than those who did not have any impairments, while men with dual sensory impairment were more than two and a half times more likely to experience depression, and almost twice as likely to report anxiety than those with no impairment.

Lead author Professor Shahina Pardhan, Director of the Vision and Eye Research Institute at ARU said: "Our study found that while sensory loss, particularly both vision and hearing loss, results in a higher number of the population reporting depression and anxiety, the association is particularly strong in women."This highlights the importance of interventions to address vision and hearing loss, especially in women. Some sensory loss is preventable or treatable, and clearly, these issues are taking their toll not just on physical health, but mental health too."

There are days when getting out of bed seems too much effort and yet, skipping your regular workout is just not an option. The perfect way to combine a little laziness with physical activity is to workout from your bed! These are some easy exercises that don’t require you to step out of the cozy comfort of your bed, yet help you stay fit.

* Disclaimer- The surface of the bed should be flat/hard. Soft & cosy mattresses can cause injury.

Leg lifts

Lie flat on your back with your hands lying straight at your side. Lift your left leg till it (calf and hip) are at a 90-degree angle to your body. Count to five then slowly lower the leg. Repeat with the right leg. You can do a set of 10 leg lifts. You can also try the reverse leg lifts. Lie flat on your stomach. Clench your buttocks and lift a leg as high as possible. Make sure that the leg is straight. Count to 5 and slowly lower the leg. Repeat with the other leg.

Bicycle

Lie flat on the bed with your knees bent and your hands are behind your head. Inhale and slowly raise your knees to about a 90-degree angle. Exhale and go through a bicycle pedalling motion, bringing one knee up towards your armpit while straightening the other leg. Aim for three sets of 12 to 15 repetitions.

Tricep dips

Position your hands shoulder-width apart on the edge of the bed. Squeeze your core and glutes and start the move by bending your elbows. Dip down until your arms are at a 90-degree angle. Be sure to keep your back close to the bed. Pause at the bottom for a one or two count, then press back up powerfully. Do 15 to 20 reps per set and aim to do two to three sets

Squats

Stand next to your bed with your feet hip-width apart. Squat down keeping your knee over your toes. Let your butt touch the ground and then come up, standing straight. Keep your core tight during the squats. To make this slightly harder, keep your feet wide apart and squat deeper. Repeat the exercise 15-25 times.

Sit-up Bicycle

Sit on the bed with the legs extended at front. Lift your legs so that the hips are in a straight line and your calves are parallel to the bed. Put your hands at the back of your head, interlacing your fingers. Move your legs in a circular bicycling motion. Alternatively, you can also move them in a crisscrossing motion from one side to the other.

Stretches

Finish your exercises with stretches to cool down at the end. Sit with your legs extended, touch your left toe with your right hand with your left hand stretched at the back, and your torso slightly twisted to the left. Retract and repeat with the opposite side. Make sure your limbs are stretched and your back stays straight. You can also do simple stretches by extending your legs at the front and your hands above your head, stretching them as much as possible.

These exercises are simple to execute on your bed. However, do make sure that the mattress is firm and there are no encumbrances in the form of bunched sheets and tangled blankets or quilts.

Hailey Bieber no stranger to tattoo regret.

The supermodel and now a YouTuber has 30 small, intimate tattoos on her body and recently she revealed that she regrets getting one of the tattoos.

The 24-year-old model told Elle magazine she got a tiny tattoo of a handgun when she was 18. Looking back on it, she says she wouldn`t get that design again." I think at 18, I was like, `Yeah! That looks cool.` But now, as a 24-year-old, I would never do that. I think guns are violent," she explained.

Hailey's 30 tattoos include the word `lover` on her neck, `Baldwin` in script on her middle finger, and a `J` for husband Justin on her ring finger.

Baldwin told Refinery29 in February 2020 that the tattoo she treasures most is in honor of her parents` love story. "My parents are still married to this day and it was the first tattoo I ever got," she said of the ink on her wrist of their wedding date, June 10, 1990. It was done by celebrity tattoo artist Jon Boy in January 2015."I was scared they were going to get mad, but I was like, `It`s dedicated to you!`" Baldwin admitted.

Her second favourite tattoo is a tiny heart on her left collarbone, which she also got from Boy in April 2018." It`s dainty and cute," she said. (ANI)

The findings of a recent study suggests that decreasing intakes of lesser healthy foods like refined grains or added sugars and eating a healthy, plant-based diet may help in reducing stroke risk by up to 10 per cent.

The findings of the study were published in Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The study found that eating a healthy, plant-based diet that includes foods like vegetables, whole grains and beans, and decreasing intakes of less healthy foods like refined grains or added sugars may reduce the risk of stroke.

The study highlighted that a diet high in quality plant-based foods may reduce your risk of having an ischemic stroke. An ischemic stroke is associated with a blockage of blood flow to the brain and is the most common type of stroke.

The study found no link between diet and hemorrhagic stroke, which happens when an artery in the brain leaks blood or ruptures."Many studies already show that eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can reduce your risk of all kinds of diseases, from heart disease to diabetes," said study author Megu Baden, M.D., Ph.D., of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, in Boston, Mass.

Baden added, "We wanted to find out if there is an association between this kind of healthy diet and stroke risk."The study involved 209,508 people who did not have cardiovascular disease or cancer at the start of the study. Researchers followed the participants for more than 25 years. Every two to four years, participants completed a questionnaire that asked how often, on average, they ate more than 110 foods over the previous year.

Researchers divided the participants into five groups based on the quality of their diet, specifically, higher amounts of plant-based foods, without excluding all animal foods.

For example, people with the highest healthy plant-based diets had, on average, 12 servings of healthy plant-based foods like leafy greens, fruits, whole grains, beans, and vegetable oils per day, compared to those with the lowest quality diets, who averaged seven and a half servings per day.

When it came to less healthy plant-based foods, such as refined grains and vegetables with high glycemic indexes like corn and potatoes, the people with the healthiest diet had, on average, three servings per day compared to six and a half servings for those with the lowest quality diets.

As for meat and dairy, the group with the healthiest diet averaged three and a half servings per day, compared to six servings per day for those with the lowest quality diets.

During the study, 6,241 people had strokes, including 3,015 who had ischemic strokes and 853 who had hemorrhagic strokes. The type of stroke was not known for the rest of the people. Compared to people who ate the fewest healthful plant-based foods, people who ate the most had a 10 per cent lower risk of having a stroke.

When looking at the type of stroke, compared to people who ate the fewest healthful plant-based foods, people in the group who ate the most showed about an 8 per cent lower risk for ischemic stroke.

Researchers found no difference in risk for hemorrhagic stroke. Also of note, researchers found no association between a vegetarian diet and risk of stroke, although the number of cases was small."We believe those differences maybe because of the differences in the quality of plant-based foods that people consumed," Baden said.

Baden noted, "A vegetarian diet high in less healthy plant-based foods, such as refined grains, added sugars and fats, is one example of how the quality of some so-called `healthy` diets differ.

Our findings have important public health implications as future nutrition policies to lower stroke risk should take the quality of food into consideration."

"Although the stroke type was not known in more than a third of the people with stroke, the consistency of the findings for lower risk of ischemic stroke and the lower risk of total stroke in those eating a plant-based diet--and since previous research shows that ischemic stroke accounts for about 85 per cent of all strokes--these results are reassuring," Baden concluded.

The team said it wanted to affect all senses, including touch, sound and smell. Aromas such as roasted green tea waft through one of the saunas, and white birch in another. "Nobody goes to an art museum in this fashion because art is art and sauna is sauna," said Kudo, pointing to his swimming trunks. "What we wanted to try is to combine and offer a very different experience - and a very different experience of this art."

What makes Indians meditate? According to a recent survey by meditation and mindfulness app ThinkRight.me, it is the pursuit of happiness, peace, and personal growth that keeps most Indians going in the meditatation sphere.

Spanning 1,000 individuals between the age group of 18 to 60 years, across Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Pune, the survey also cites stress management and better sleep as other key areas where meditation has helped individuals. From an app data perspective, almost 40 per cent of the users of ThinkRight.me meditated daily in 2020, spending a total of 2.64 billion minutes on the app in the entire year.

The survey also revealed how meditation helps different age groups differently. Peace and happiness top the charts across all age groups -- and goes up as one grows older, as one in two people aged between 36-45 years meditate for peace and happiness compared to 1 in 5 among the 18-25 age group.

The age bracket of 18-25 years and 46-55 years showed similar patterns; the quest for peace and happiness was followed by better sleep, personal growth, and stress management, in that order.

When it comes to city-specific analysis, most women in Mumbai meditate to seek peace and personal growth, while Punekars and people in Bengaluru are in search of peace and happiness.

Delhiites turn to meditation for better sleep and stress management.

As per Rajan Navani, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of JetSynthesys, the company which owns the app,"India often tops the charts when it comes to studies on stress and anxiety. We launched ThinkRight.me two years back to make the benefits of meditation accessible to all. We are big believers of the power of thinking right, therefore the name, because our thoughts do guide how our day and life pan out. All the daily affirmations and guided meditation sessions on ThinkRight.me are born out of this core belief, and we hope to use these survey findings to make TRM an even more compelling proposition. With time, we also hope more people take to meditation and a more mindful way of life so collectively there`s a positive change in people`s overall mental and emotional well-being."

The onset of 2020 brought with it Covid-19, a global pandemic which has been harsh on most individuals and the app data is proof of that reality.

According to this platform with over 2 million downloads, the maximum traffic seen on the app was during the months of April 2020 to June 2020, during the Covid-19 induced lockdown, with daily active users increasing by 50 per cent coupled with a significant increase in subscriptions too. The daily positive affirmations followed by guided meditation offerings top the charts for what helped app users the most in 2020.

Chrissy Teigen is launching her own robe line and like food, this latest creative venture is close to her heart.

The 35-year-old 'Cravings' founder shared some photos of her gearing up for production and wrote "Ok before everyone gets mad, I am in NO way a designer."

Teigen wrote that she was painfully aware that this was not her typical medium of work and explained what made her realise the idea.

"I can't draw, my sewing is on par with a life of my mom working at FabricLand, a child who dabbled in making pillows and puppets. But I am finding a lot of joy bringing *intense* color into my life and maybe yours!,' she wrote 'Robes are so fun - they don't have many rules when it comes to patterns...I appreciate their inability to be caged like myself! Anyhow now that book 3 is done, I'm taking a dive into this world. Please don't tell me I'll never be so and so, I know and I don't want to be!" she concluded.
The 35-year-old 'Cravings' founder shared some photos of her gearing up for production and wrote "Ok before everyone gets mad, I am in NO way a designer." Teigen wrote that she was painfully aware that this was not her typical medium of work and explained what made her realise the idea. The entrepreneur found the process to be 'super fun,' also having first-hand knowledge of the product as she likely boasts one of the largest robe collections known to Hollywood.
Celebrities most often shy away from discussing plastic surgery but not Cardi B. The rapper recently opened up that how plastic surgery has made her feel 'super confident' in life and helped her overcome childhood insecurities.

The Grammy-winning rapper got candid with fellow musician Mariah Carey as the hitmakers sat down for an honest chat in the latest issue of Interview magazine.

Even though people may have different opinions about her cosmetic procedures, Cardi has been vocal about her plastic surgery experiences. She said that enhancements make her feel her most confident.

The rapper said," Well, I am from New York, right? And New York is a melting pot, especially where I grew up in the Bronx."

She added, "I was really skinny when I was younger, and in the Bronx, it is about being thick and having an a-- so young boys would be like, `Look at your flat a**. You ain`t got no t*****s.` And it would make me feel so ugly and undeveloped."

Before joining the music industry, Cardi worked as a dancer in a strip club. The rapper revealed how she used her earnings to get breast implants, which was the first step toward forgetting about her insecurities.

She said, "When I was 18 and became a dancer, I had enough money to afford to buy b***s, so every insecurity that I felt about my breasts was gone," she said. But by age 20, enhancing her butt became her next priority.

"When I was 20, I went to the urban strip club, and in the urban strip clubs, you had to have a big butt. So I felt insecure about that. It took me back to high school. So I got my a** done," Cardi said.

The plastic surgery procedures helped the star feel like the best version of herself. "Then I felt super confident. I feel so vindicated," she said.

The rapper also opened up to Carey about struggling to manage her hair during her adolescence and the mean comments she faced about her look from boys in her neighbourhood.

"I am Trini and I am Dominican, and there is a lot of Dominicans that look a certain type of way. They have soft, pretty, curly hair. When I was younger, I did not really know how to take care of my hair. Growing up, guys would ask me weird questions like, If you are Dominican, why is your hair so nappy?" Cardi said.

She added, "I used to dye my hair, and people used to be like, `Oh, your hair`s so crunchy.` And it would make me feel so weird."Now, Cardi has learned to make her own at-home hair treatments to keep it her natural mane healthy. "I make my own hair mask and take care of my natural hair, and it makes me feel better, like what people were saying about me isn`t true," she said.

She added, "My hair was not bad because it was nappy. My hair was bad because I didn`t know how to take care of it."

The rapper certainly oozed confidence in the magazine shoot styled by Kollin Carter and shot by AB+DM.

Meanwhile, on the personal front, previously in September, Cardi filed for divorce from her husband and rapper Offset after three years of marriage.
Their split came after accusations of Offset`s infidelity resurfaced, but Cardi called off the divorce in October. The duo is proud parents to daughter Kulture.

Adolescents and teens may be more likely to be bullied by their friends or friends-of-friends than peers who are not closely linked, a new study suggests.

The study, published in the American Journal of Sociology, found that peer aggression occurred at higher rates between friends, and friends-of-friends, than between those not closely tied.

"People often assume that bullying occurs between relative strangers, or that it targets those on the fringes of the social network," said researcher Diane Felmlee from the Pennsylvania State University in the US.

"Those do occur, but in our study, we find that the rate of peer aggression is significantly higher between those students who are closely linked," Felmlee added.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, about 20 per cent of students aged 12 to 18 report being bullied at school during the school year. And while many anti-bullying programmes exist, the researchers said they are not always effective.

For the study, the team used data from more than 3,000 students that was collected in waves, starting when the students were in grades six, seven and eight and finishing when they were in grades eight, nine and 10, respectively.

The researchers constructed "aggression networks" by asking students to nominate up to five classmates who had picked on or been mean to them, allowing the researchers to identify both bullies and victims.

One of the students who reported being the victim of a friend noted, "Sometimes your own friends bully you. I don`t understand why, why my friends do this to me."

Additionally, participants who were friends in the fall of the school year were over three times as likely to bully or victimize the other by the spring of the same school year.

Being bullied by a friend was also linked to significant increases in anxiety and depression and lower levels of school attachment, the researchers said.

One of the most iconic paintings, The Scream, has always had mysterious graffiti, done by none other than its artist Edvard Munch.

The infrared scans of the painting have revealed a small and barely visible sentence written on the painting, stirring the art world and starting the debate - who wrote it on the painting.

The words, "Can only have been painted by a madman", are inscribed in pencil in the top left-hand corner. Now, new tests made by The National Museum of Norway have confirmed they were made by the man himself.

According to BBC, the original painting, first displayed in Munch's home city Oslo (then Kristiania) in 1893, has become a radical and timeless expression of human anxiety. Its influence stretches as far as the 90s Hollywood Scream horror film series, and on to the modern-day emoji.

The artwork has undergone conservation in preparation for its installment in the new museum, which is due to open in the Norwegian capital next year.

Critics have long questioned whether the graffiti was an act of vandalism done by an outraged spectator, or written by Munch himself, who was known to have had mental health problems throughout his life.

Now, with the help of the scan, the long-standing point of conjecture has come to a conclusion that the words were written by Munch.

"The writing is without a doubt Munch's own," said museum curator Mai Britt Guleng. "The handwriting itself, as well as events that happened in 1895, when Munch showed the painting in Norway for the first time, all point in the same direction."

In 1994, The Scream was stolen from a Norwegian art museum. It was recovered in a daring undercover operation by British detectives.

The graffiti reveals Munch's state of mind who was disturbed by the death of his mother and sister at a very young age. As per the artist's diaries, he had been anxious and depressed, as long as he can remember. It's believed he returned to the painting to add his pencilled statement afterwards.

"For as long as I can remember I have suffered from a deep feeling of anxiety which I have tried to express in my art," Munch wrote. "Without this anxiety and illness I would have been like a ship without a rudder."

"The handwriting itself, as well as events that happened in 1895, when Munch showed the painting in Norway for the first time, all point in the same direction." In 1994, The Scream was stolen from a Norwegian art museum.
