Britain's King Charles III's state visit to France has been postponed due to a sea of protests in the country against the massively unpopular pension reform legislation to increase the retirement age. The king was scheduled to arrive in France on Sunday, which incidentally would have been his first visit as the newly crowned monarch. However, the Élysée Palace released a statement on Friday and said the decision to postpone the visit was taken after King Charles had a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. "Given yesterday's announcement of a new national day of action against pension reform on Tuesday, March 28, in France, the visit of King Charles III, initially scheduled for March 26 to 29 in our country, will be postponed," read the statement. "This decision was taken by the French and British governments, after a telephone exchange between the President of the Republic and the King this morning, in order to be able to welcome His Majesty King Charles III under conditions which correspond to our relationship of friendship," it added. More than a million people took to the streets in different cities of France on Thursday in a continued protest against the Macron government's retirement policy. Up until Thursday, the French authorities were optimistic that the state visit will go ahead without any hiccups. However, after Macron gave a TV interview, it seemingly galvanised the protesters. Subsequently, the entrance to the town hall in Bordeaux was set alight, forcing the administration to chalk up new plans. As per Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, 149 police officers and dozens of protesters were injured in clashes on Thursday. In addition, 172 people were arrested across the country, 72 of them in Paris. Notably, the workers in France tend to retire much earlier than their European Union (EU) counterparts. The Tower of London will inaugurate a special exhibition on the Crown Jewels to mark King Charles' coronation. The Jewel house display will look at the origins of some of the precious objects for the first time including the controversial Kohinoor diamond. It is reportedly the first major change to the display in a decade.

Andrew Jackson, resident governor of the Tower of London said to BBC that he hopes it will offer "a richer understanding of this magnificent collection".

The history of the Kohinoor will reportedly be explored using a combination of objects and visual projections to revisit the coveted stones' history and how it has been considered a symbol of conquest for centuries.

The diamond is set within the coronation crown of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and was previously owned by Mughal Emperors, Shahs of Iran, Emirs of Afghanistan, and Sikh Maharajas.

It was seized by the East India Company after its victory in the Second Anglo-Sikh War of 1849 and gifted to Queen Victoria.

The diamond has since then remained within the British royal family. Still, the governing party of India's prime minister has warned that it brings back painful memories of the British Empire.

At the coronation ceremony of King Charles III, the Queen consort will not be wearing the gem. Instead, she will be crowned with Queen Mary's Crown, which will be reset with diamonds from Queen Elizabeth's personal collection.

The exhibition at the Tower of London will also showcase some historic jewels that have been passed thrown generations of monarchs, including Black Prince's Ruby which was the late Queen's favourite jewel. It is now placed in the Imperial State Crown.

Kohinoor and other crown jewels to be on display in new exhibition to mark King Charles' coronation

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children will now be known as prince and princess. The couple for the first time publicly used their daughter's royal title on Wednesday as she was christened.

Under royal rules, the monarch's grandchildren can become princes or princesses of the realm, meaning that Harry's children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, were eligible to use the titles since Charles, his father, became king last September.

The interest in Harry's children's titles comes after his relationship with his father, King Charles, hit rock bottom following his tell-all memoir earlier this year titled Spare in which he made accusations against the royal family.

It was not known until Wednesday whether the couple, who stepped back from royal duties in March 2020 and now live in California, would want their children to be known as prince and princess.

"I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor," a spokesperson for the couple said on Wednesday.

Buckingham Palace said it will update the royal website to reflect Archie and Lilibet's titles in "due course".

Meghan said in an interview two years ago that the British royal family refused to make her son Archie a prince and had conversations about how dark his skin might be.

The titles are in line with the precedent created by letters patent issued by George V in 1917 which conferred the title of prince or princess on male-line grandchildren of the sovereign. This is the first time it has been confirmed that the children will use the titles.

The baptism was held days after Harry and Meghan had been asked to vacate their British home, Frogmore Cottage, a decision made by Charles, and a sign of the latest strain in relations. It is not known whether Harry will attend his father's coronation in May.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet: Prince Harry's kids finally get royal titles

Britain's Prince Harry has admitted that he took hallucinogenic drugs such as ayahuasca to get over past trauma. Harry spoke candidly to trauma expert Gabor Maté recently and admitted the psychedelic drugs helped him acknowledge his mother, Princess Diana's death and move forward in life.

Maté discussed how people may use drugs or alcohol as coping mechanisms, and addressed Harry's previous cocaine and marijuana usage.

"Marijuana is different (to cocaine). That actually did really help me," Harry said before detailing his experiences with hallucinogens. "It was the cleaning of the windscreen, the removal of life’s filters — these layers of filters — it removed it all for me and brought me a sense of relaxation, relief, comfort, a lightness that I managed to hold back for a period of time."

Harry also added that he started doing it initially for recreation and soon realised how good it was for him. "I would say it is one of the fundamental parts of my life that changed me and helped me deal with the traumas and the pains of the past. They’re unlocking so much of what we’ve suppressed," Harry said.

Therapy using psychedelic drugs, including the naturally occurring psilocybin compound found in mushrooms, is growing in popularity in several countries in the world.

Hallucinogenic drugs are becoming quite accessible and many states are working on laws to not only decriminalise but also legalize regulated psychedelic therapy programs.

During the chat, Harry also addressed the backlash that has come his way after the release of his explosive memoir Spare, which was released earlier this year. The book reportedly lifted the veil on many royal encounters and talked about his troubled relationship with his step-mother, Camilla Parker-Bowles, and estranged brother Prince William.
"I certainly don’t see myself as a victim," he said. "I’m really grateful to be able to share my story in the hope that it will help, empower, encourage others. … And hopefully, let people understand that again, back to this human experience that we all in some shape or form, (are) all connected, especially through trauma."

The Duke of Sussex categorically stated that he never looked for sympathy when he wrote his memoir. Harry explained that he wrote the book as a way to help "someone or some people out there" who have endured mental health and mental illness struggles.

"There are people who have shared things of my life, outside my control, be it true or false. But to be able to share the things of my life that I think are important, for other people, it does, it feels good. But to me, it feels like an act of service," he said.

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan have been invited to the UK for King Charles' coronation ceremony scheduled to take place on May 6. King Charles III will be formally crowned at London's Westminster Abbey, nearly nine months after he took over the throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince Harry reveals he took hallucinogenic drugs to get over his past trauma

The Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday that King Charles III and Queen Camilla's coronation oil has been consecrated in Jerusalem. The palace revealed that the Chrism oil that will be used to anoint the 74-year-old monarch and the 75-year-old Queen Consort on May 6 was consecrated, on Friday morning, at The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

The coronation oil has been made with olives harvested from local groves at the Monastery of the Ascension and the Monastery of Mary Magdalene. The olives were pressed near Bethlehem, and the oil was perfumed with scents of neroli, benzoin, sesame, rose, jasmine, cinnamon, amber and orange blossom.

Previous versions, however, included civet oil, which is made from the glands of small mammals, and ambergris from the intestines of whales.

Reflecting on modern animal-friendly sensitivities, the coronation oil will be animal cruelty-free and will not include any ingredients derived from animals. Since there had been concerns about animal cruelty and the need to protect wildlife, the latest formula of the holy oil has been kept vegan.

King Charles breaks coronation tradition: Monarch to be anointed with animal cruelty-free oil

The historic coronation chair in Britain is getting a makeover ahead of King Charles' coronation. Monarchs have been crowned on this historic chair for 700 years.

Britain's coronation throne revamped for King Charles' coronation

Britain's King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla are all set to break a royal tradition during their coronation ceremony which is scheduled to take place on May 6, 2023. The grandchildren of Camilla will reportedly have a prominent role to play in the coronation ceremony.

Charles and Camilla married in 2005 and since then have had a blended family where Camilla's grandchildren are often seen to be a part of royal family events. Camilla has five teenage grandchildren and they will be holding the canopy over their grandmother as she is anointed on May 6. The decision to include the grandkids was to demonstrate 'closeness' with Camilla.

The process where the grandchildren are being involved is supposed to be the most sacred part of the ceremony. It involves the Archbishop of Canterbury pouring holy oil from the beak of the golden eagle-shaped ampulla onto a 12th-century, silver-gilt anointing spoon, the most ancient treasure of the Crown Jewels. He then uses the holy oil to anoint the hands, chest and head in the form of a cross.

The duchesses have previously held the canopy but Camilla reportedly wanted her grandkids to be a part of the ceremony. A source told Sunday Times, “The Queen Consort has said she does not want duchesses. She would like it to be her grandchildren.”

They added, “It sends a nice signal and is quite a bold move. It is another example of the king and queen consort being unafraid to shake things up a little to reflect the realities of modern life, of which a blended family is a central element.”

Considered to be the most sacred part of the religious ceremony, the act of anointing a sovereign has not previously been seen by the public. But this year, the royal traditions are being changed and it will be performed in front of the public.

During Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953, a canopy was held over the monarch’s head to protect her privacy. It is being speculated that for this year's ceremony, King Charles and Camilla are reportedly considering using a transparent canopy, which will make the pair the first in British history to be publicly anointed.

Charles and Camilla are said to be close to her five grandchildren — Lola, 15, and Freddy, 13 by her son Tom Parker Bowles, as well as Eliza, 15, and twins, Louis and Gus, 13, by her daughter Laura Lopes.

Ukrainians, he said, have suffered unimaginably from an unprovoked full-scale attack on their nation yet they "have shown truly remarkable courage and resilience in the face of such human tragedy". He recalled his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Buckingham Palace earlier this year when he could express his "personal support". The United Kingdom, he stressed, is doing "everything possible" to help Kyiv, along with its allies at this difficult time.

Message by King Charles III on 1 year of Ukraine war: 'Remarkable courage...'

King Charles III on Thursday encountered a group of anti-monarchy activists while on walkabout in the city of Milton Keynes north of London.

A group of protesters held up distinctive yellow placards with the message "Not my king", joining a crowd waving Union Jack flags.

The demonstration was organised by "Republic", a group calling for an end to the monarchy and an elected head of state in Britain.

Local newspaper the Milton Keynes Citizen reported that Charles "ignored the small banner-waving group" of 20 or so protesters.

Republic's leader Graham Smith wrote on Twitter: "I asked Charles why he's wasting money on the coronation. He didn't want to answer."

He didn't want to answer." The Queen Consort Camilla will wear Queen Mary's crown at King Charles's coronation, without the Kohinoor diamond over concerns it would serve as an unwelcome reminder of the British Empire.

UK Queen consort Camilla to wear Queen Mary's crown without Kohinoor diamond

For the coronation ceremony of Britain's King Charles III, which is to be held at Westminster Abbey in May, Queen Consort Camilla has chosen to wear the crown on which the controversial colonial-era Kohinoor diamond is not set, said the Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.

The choice of Queen Mary Crown made by Camilla for coronation means it will be studded with a replica of one of the largest cut diamonds in the world, as the original diamond is presently adorning the crown of Elizabeth the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II's mother.

The palace stated that they removed the Queen Mary Crown from display at the Tower of London so that it can be used in the ceremony to be held on May 6, replacing it with jewels that paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

While there is a front cross set in the current crown of Queen Mary with Kohinoor diamond's detachable rock crystal replica, it is not known yet if the royalty would retain it after the changes are made for the king's coronation.

“The choice of Queen Mary's Crown by Her Majesty is the first time in recent history that an existing crown will be used for the Coronation of a Consort instead of a new commission being made, in the interests of sustainability and efficiency,” said Buckingham Palace.

Kohinoor, which in Persian means mountain of light, came in possession of Queen Victoria from Maharaja Ranjit Singh's treasury a few years before she became the Empress of India.

“Some minor changes and additions will be undertaken by the Crown Jeweller, in keeping with the longstanding tradition that the insertion of jewels is unique to the occasion, and reflects the Consort's individual style. These changes will in particular pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as the crown will be reset with the Cullinan III, IV and V diamonds,” stated the palace.

Also, four of the eight detachable arches in the Queen Mary Crown will be removed for giving a “different impression” to when Queen Mary wore it at the 1911 coronation.

The palace further confirmed that St Edward's Crown, which will be used for King Charles' coronation, has been kept for public display at the Tower of London after its modifications were completed for the grand Westminster Abbey ceremony.

UK's Queen Consort Camilla to wear crown with no Kohinoor for King Charles' coronation

Britain's Queen Consort Camilla, the wife of King Charles III, has tested positive for coronavirus, Buckingham Palace said Monday. This is the second time she has caught the disease.

"After suffering the symptoms of a cold, Her Majesty The Queen Consort has tested positive for the Covid virus," said a statement from the palace. As a result, she has cancelled all public engagements for this week.

It is almost a year since Camilla, 75, tested positive for the virus for the first time, a few days after her husband -- then Prince Charles -- caught the disease. Both Charles and Camilla had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including a booster shot, and Camilla had contracted the virus once in February last year.

The palace has not changed King Charles's appointments so far. The royal couple has urged people to get the Covid vaccine and have both had their booster jabs.

It's out! Britain's Royal Mail on Wednesday unveiled the first postage stamps featuring the country's new monarch, King Charles III. The new so-called 'definitive stamp' -- intended for everyday use and consisting solely of the monarch's head, the stamp's value and a barcode -- will go on general sale from April 4.

The image, which was approved by Charles himself, is adapted from the official effigy that appears on new UK coins after he succeeded his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Elizabeth died on September 8 following a record-breaking 70 years on the throne and soon after Charles took charge.

Retailers will continue to sell their existing stamps featuring the late queen, and be supplied with new ones when current Royal Mail stocks have run out.

British artist Arnold Machin created an effigy of the queen for decimal coinage in the 1960s and then designed the definitive stamps bearing her image which became an iconic symbol of the UK around the world.

The new design shows Charles facing left, as all British monarchs have done on stamps since the "Penny Black" was issued as the world's first postage stamp in 1840, under Queen Victoria.

The image of Charles is an adapted version of a portrait by British sculptor Martin Jennings, created for The Royal Mint for new UK coins, which are already in circulation.

Royal Mail chief executive Simon Thompson said British stamps are unique in not having the country of origin printed on them, "as the image of the monarch is sufficient".

A report has revealed that before the current British Monarch King Charles III took over the throne, the government took the-then Prince’s permission to pass its post-Brexit Environment Act. As per the Guardian report, this was because the law which was touted as “world-leading” and requires landowners to enhance conservation could affect the member of the royal family’s business interests.

Reportedly, back in 2019, Environment minister Rebecca Pow wrote to the then Prince of Wales asking if he would be willing to accept section seven of the environment bill.

Section seven of the environment bill, which became law in November 2021, refers to the need “to conserve the setting of land with a natural environment or natural resources or which is a place of archaeological, architectural, artistic, cultural or historic interest.” Those in breach risk getting fined.

In the now public letter, the environment minister writes to Charles “This bill contains measures on conservation covenants which affect the interests of the crown, the Duchy of Lancaster and the Duchy of Cornwall. Part 7 (conservation covenants) of the bill applies to crown land as it applies to any other land.”

Report reveals how UK lawmakers sought King Charles’ permission for a law that impacted his property

Among the many revelations made in his memoir 'Spare', Prince Harry seemingly has also addressed the rumour that has plagued the loyal family for years. Harry has for the first time talked about the long-standing 'joke' on how he is not the biological son of King Charles.

In his book 'Spare' which hit stands on January 10, Prince Harry has recalled how King Charles himself would 'joke' about not being Harry's father during his childhood.

"'Who knows if I'm really the Prince of Wales? Who knows if I'm even your real father? Maybe your real father is in Broadmoor, darling boy,'" Harry wrote about his father. "Pa liked telling stories, and this was one of the best in his repertoire," Harry added.

Harry recalled that his father would "laugh and laugh" about the rumour, he himself found it to be "a remarkable unfunny joke, given the rumour circulating just then that my actual father was one of Mummy's former lovers: Major James Hewitt."

The late Princess Diana had admitted during her 1995 interview that she had an affair with Hewitt while she was still married to King Charles.

"One cause of this rumour was Major Hewitt's flaming ginger hair, but another cause was sadism," Harry wrote in his memoir. "Tabloid readers were delighted by the idea that the younger child of Prince Charles wasn't the child of Prince Charles. They couldn't get enough of this 'joke,' for some reason. Maybe it made them feel better about their lives that a young prince's life was laughable."

Prince Harry put to rest the rumour and clarified, "Never mind that my mother didn't meet Major Hewitt until long after I was born, the story was simply too good to drop."

The rumour was in fact addressed and refuted by Hewithh himself during a 2002 interview.

"There really is no possibility whatsoever that I am Harry's father. I can absolutely assure you that I am not," he said at the time. "Admittedly the red hair is similar to mine and people say we look alike. I have never encouraged these comparisons and although I was with Diana for a long time I must state once and for all that I'm not Harry's father. When I first met Diana, Harry was already a toddler," he noted.

Prince Harry's memoir 'Spare' has made several shocking revelations. Harry has claimed that he was assaulted by his older brother Prince William over Meghan Markle, he has called Queen consort Camilla a 'villain' and admitted that he grew uncomfortable after watching his wife Meghan Markle's 'love scenes' in 'Suits'.

Another huge revelation has tumbled out of Prince Harry's soon-to-be-published autobiography titled 'Spare'. The Duke of Sussex admitted to trying cocaine when he was 17, according to Sky News. The publication said it managed to get its hands on a copy of Harry's book after a Spanish version mistakenly went on sale in Spain. "It wasn't very fun, and it didn't make me feel especially happy as seems to happen to others, but it did make me feel different, and that was my main objective. To feel. To be different," wrote Harry in the book. "Of course I had been taking cocaine at that time. At someone's house, during a hunting weekend, I was offered a line, and since then I had consumed some more." Harry admitted it has his rogue phase as a teenager and that he would have done anything to alter the 'pre-established' order. "I was a seventeen-year-old willing to try almost anything that would alter the pre-established order. At least, that's what I was trying to convince myself of. At that time, I was as capable of lying to myself as I had lied to that staff member." Prince Harry declines to comment on whether he’ll attend King Charles' coronation

Prince Harry may have alleged that his father King Charles and the royal family have shown no sign of reconciliation in an upcoming interview, but sources close to the King have reportedly said he is ready to patch up with his younger son.

A Telegraph article states that King Charles wants to keep the communication channel open for Harry. "Those close to the king insist that he has always made clear how much he loves both of his sons, keeping communication channels open throughout the last few years, despite the many barbs from California," the British daily reported Tuesday, citing sources.

Prince Harry will appear in two tell-all interviews this upcoming weekend. In one of them, Harry stated he wants his brother and father "back." Both interviews will be aired on January 8, ahead of the release of his memoir, 'Spare', on January 10.

He will be speaking with ITV`s Tom Bradby as well as Anderson Cooper for his first US interview on '60 Minutes'. In a promo clip for his ITV interview, Harry is seen saying, "They`ve shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile."

"I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back," he added of King Charles and Prince William. He also said "they feel as though it is better to keep us somehow as the villains," though it was not clear who he was referring to.

In a new one-minute segment shared by CBS News when Cooper asked Harry about his decision to go public as he stepped away from the royal family, he touched upon leaked stories by the palace. "Every single time I've tried to do it privately, there have been briefings and leaking and planting of stories against me and my wife," said Harry.

Previously, Harry made similar bombshell claims about the palace covering for other royal members in the couple's latest Netflix docuseries, 'Harry & Meghan'.

King Charles delivers his first Christmas message, highlights UK's cost of living crisis

King Charles will participate in his first Trooping the Colour ceremony, which has marked the British sovereign's official birthday for over 260 years, as monarch on June 17, Buckingham Palace said Thursday.

Charles, 74, took over as sovereign in September following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.

"This impressive display of pageantry will take place on Saturday 17th June... with His Majesty The King attending and taking the salute," the palace said in a statement.

British sovereigns celebrate their birthdays twice: privately on the actual day -- November 14 in the case of Charles -- and then at an official ceremony in June, following an age-old tradition to try and escape the whims of the weather.

The ceremony will include more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians.

The birthday parade begins at the monarch's official London Buckingham Palace residence and will end with a Royal Air Force fly-past, which Charles and close family members will watch from the palace balcony.
The ceremony has its origins in the preparations for war, where all the flags were shown to the soldiers so that they would recognise them in the confusion of battle.

The 2023 parade will take place a little over a month after Charles' coronation ceremony, on May 6.
