According to Los Angeles police, 34-year-old Danielle Cherakiyah was posting on X as the recording artist with the moniker “Ayoka” and an astrology influencer, days before the killing.&nbsp;

She posted on April 4,&nbsp;“Get your protection on and your heart in the right place," on X. "The world is very obviously changing right now and if you ever needed to pick a side, the time to do right in your life is now. Stay strong you got this.”

Then&nbsp;on April 5, she wrote&nbsp;in all caps, “Wake up wake up the apocalypse is here. Everyone who has ears listen. Your time to choose what you believe is now.”

Several conspiracy theories, such as those about vaccines, and posts about the end of the world can also be seen on her social media.

The woman committed the act of stabbing her partner and throwing her kids hours before the eclipse reached its totality in Southern California, said Lt Guy Golan.

<h2>Police reject possibility of eclipse contributing to killings</h2>

Even though&nbsp;Johnson's posts&nbsp;have been reviewed by the detectives, the police have denied the possibility that the eclipse acted&nbsp;as a contributing or precipitating factor to the killings. "We just don’t know why she did what she did,” said Golan, while speaking to The Associated Press on Wednesday (April 10).

“We’ve taken all the facts we can, but without being able to interview her and without having something more tangible than a post on X, I don’t know how much weight you can give to somebody (saying) there’s an apocalypse and attribute it to one of the most horrific murders we’ve had in LA,” said Golan, who is leading the homicide unit investigating the case.

According to the authorities, Johnson and her 29-year-old partner Jaelen, Allen Chaney, had an argument late on Monday after which she stabbed him and fled away with the kids in a Porsche Cayenne.

This US diner charges 'bad parenting' fee to those with unruly kids

As many as 14 children reportedly got infected with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV after undergoing blood transfusion in India’s northern Uttar Pradesh state.

According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, these kids have thalassemia, an inherited blood disorder that results in abnormal haemoglobin levels.

The report, citing doctors, stated on Monday (Oct 23)&nbsp;that the children could have been infected with various diseases while receiving transfusions at private and district hospitals, and in some cases locally, during urgent cases.

The infections were revealed during a test conducted at Kanpur’s government-run Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital. Currently,&nbsp;180 thalassemia patients receive blood transfusion at the centre, which screens each of them every six months for any viral diseases.&nbsp;

<h2>Kids at major risk&nbsp;</h2>

Speaking to Hindustan Times newspaper, Arun Arya, the head of the paediatrics department at the Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur, said that seven of these children tested positive for Hepatitis B, five for Hepatitis C and two for HIV. The infected children are aged between 6 and 16.

While it is difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the infection, Arya said that the blood transfusion may have taken place during the so-called “window period”.

According to him, when someone donates blood, it is tested to make sure it is safe for transfusion. However, there is a period of time after someone was infected when the virus could not be detected by the tests, this time span is called “window period”.

This means that during the window period, someone can be very infectious but still test negative for HIV or Hepatitis.&nbsp;Different types of tests have different window periods.

“At the time of transfusion, the doctors should have [also] vaccinated the children against Hepatitis B,” Arya was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, a senior unnamed official of the Uttar Pradesh National Health told the newspaper that they are tracing the root of the infection.

“District-level officials will trace the root of infection under the Viral Hepatitis Control Programme. The team will look for the place of infection, both for hepatitis and HIV,” the official said.

As many as 14 children reportedly got infected with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV after undergoing blood transfusion in India’s northern Uttar Pradesh state. According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, these kids have thalassemia, an inherited blood disorder that results in abnormal haemoglobin levels. The report, citing doctors, stated on Monday (Oct 23) that the children could have been infected with various diseases while receiving transfusions at private and district hospitals, and in some cases locally, during urgent cases. The infections were revealed during a test conducted at Kanpur’s government-run Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital. Currently, 180 thalassemia patients receive blood transfusion at the centre, which screens each of them every six months for any viral diseases. Kids at major risk Speaking to Hindustan Times newspaper, Arun Arya, the head of the paediatrics department at the Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur, said that seven of these children tested positive for Hepatitis B, five for Hepatitis C and two for HIV. The infected children are aged between 6 and 16. While it is difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the infection, Arya said that the blood transfusion may have taken place during the so-called “window period”. According to him, when someone donates blood, it is tested to make sure it is safe for transfusion. However, there is a period of time after someone was infected when the virus could not be detected by the tests, this time span is called “window period”. This means that during the window period, someone can be very infectious but still test negative for HIV or Hepatitis. Different types of tests have different window periods. UP officials alerted “At the time of transfusion, the doctors should have [also] vaccinated the children against Hepatitis B,” Arya was quoted as saying. Meanwhile, a senior unnamed official of the Uttar Pradesh National Health told the newspaper that they are tracing the root of the infection. “District-level officials will trace the root of infection under the Viral Hepatitis Control Programme. Photos and videos of the alleged training of children were shared by South First Responders (SFR) on Telegram on Sunday (Oct 15). Reportedly, the video footage was recorded on body-worn cameras that were collected from the corpses of terrorists.

SFR stated that the footage is proof of the 'cynical indoctrination of Palestinian children' in what they called as 'military-style training camps'.

The unit further released footage of Hamas terrorists killing innocent victims. In the video, the gunmen can be seen going from house to house and hunting down the families.

The videos were captured in 'head-cam' cameras before the Kfar Aza attack and exposed how boy soldiers are being trained by Hamas commanders as the next generation of terrorists.

Many parents post their kids' stories, photos, and videos on social media, but is sharing things safe? Can revealing your child's face and identity on social media endanger your child? Here's more to the story.

A week ago my younger son called me while I was at work to inform me that he wasn’t too happy with the limits we had placed on his internet usage. The reason being his friends got to do much more, so these rules were unfair. He’s not into social media yet but using the internet for games and research for studies and creating videos or graphics seemed to excite him, as did the prospect of communicating with his friends via Skype and Zoom calls. 
 
That night I sat down with him to discuss the reasons we were doing this and also if he understood what safe internet or even social media usage is. For an about to be ten-year-old, he seemed to have quite a bit of clarity over it. “Well, right now I’m not asking you for a phone that most kids have. I’m willing to wait until I’m 13 only because I feel that when we surf the internet, many a time, a lot of inappropriate content pops up and it’s difficult to understand all that. This happens even when I'm playing games or surfing the net.” 
 
When prodded a bit more, he revealed that he knew the internet and social media weren’t all about good things but it was a necessary evil and could I please understand that and give him more time to access the internet for school work? I agreed and at the same time, I thought that this conversation would have to be repeated quite frequently so that I knew whatever was going on in his mind and even in his peer group about these issues.&nbsp; 
 
And then a friend’s daughter at 16, is heavily into social media with her Instagram page boasting almost 7k followers because of the fashionable pictures she posts, after boring a hole into my friend's pocket with her demands for the latest fashionable stuff, A teen influencer if you may call her, as of late she’s started getting a lot of paid and barter deals from companies as is the norm when you manage to get a fan following.&nbsp; 
 
So far so good. No harm done. 
 
But there are also instances of children, especially teenagers who are hooked on social media and have faced instances of losing their sleep and thereby faring badly in academics because of constantly checking their feeds and also getting anxious and depressed when a picture or a reel didn’t fetch as many likes and comments as they thought it would.&nbsp;

Some have started existing in a virtual world where they wake up and post the first feed of the day, bleary eyed from their beds to their daily morning bathroom ablutions and then their breakfasts to when they’re studying and hanging out with friends and well, the list is endless. Their life is public and fodder for the public means if you get likes, you will also get dislikes in the sense that anybody can comment, troll or DM you what they feel about you and your life on the internet. The logic is: if you want to go public, dare to take whatever comes with it. 
 
According to the Pew Research Center survey conducted from April 14 to May 4, 2022, a vast majority of teens have access to digital devices, such as smartphones (95%), desktop or laptop computers (90%) and gaming consoles (80%). And the study shows there has been an uptick in daily teen internet users, from 92% in 2014-15 to 97% today. In addition, the share of teens who say they are online almost constantly has roughly doubled since 2014-15 (46% now and 24% then). 
 
A report in UNICEF says that too much use of social media can be unhealthy and has been linked to feelings of envy, inadequacy and less satisfaction with life. Studies have even suggested that it can lead to ADHD symptoms, depression, anxiety and sleep deprivation. With depression on the rise worldwide and half of all mental illnesses starting at age 14 though, the potential issues warrant further exploration. 
 
Cyberbullying happens, as unsavoury remarks, being approached by strangers, violence through content showcased on social media, and exposure to nude videos and pictures that are strewn all over the internet, therefore anxiety and depression can set in because, at this age, children cannot and are not expected to know how to deal with all these factors.&nbsp; 
 
A lot of parents I spoke to felt their child spent too much time on the phone or computer scrolling through social media feeds instead of getting real work done in the real world. They worried it could affect their grades and academic performance.&nbsp; 
 
A real fear if there ever was any. &nbsp;

Recently US Surgeon General Vivek H Murthy spoke about the ill effects of social media on kids. He says technology companies should put better protections in place and help parents because social media is affecting the mental health of children. They are getting bullied, anxious, and depressed and they can't seem to stop. All his comments are backed up by hard facts and research.

He adds that the love for one’s children is a unique kind of love and that as they near adolescence, there is more need to pay attention to how social, media can affect their health and well-being. His advisory says that nearly 70 per cent of parents say their job is harder now than it was for parents 20 years ago, mainly because of technology and social media and nearly all teenagers in the United States (95 per cent) use social media platforms — two-thirds use them daily and more than one-third “almost constantly.”&nbsp; 
 
Murthy’s statement also clarified that as of now there is not enough evidence to conclude that social media is sufficiently safe for our kids. In fact, there is increasing evidence that social media use during adolescence — a critical stage of brain development — is associated with harm to mental health and well-being. He says policymakers and technology companies should establish age-appropriate health and safety standards that protect against exposure to harmful content and they should be transparent with the public, including independent researchers and parents, about what the data tells us about how social media is affecting our kids. 
 
What can we do? Can we do anything at all now that social media and the life of our kids are intertwined? Dr Samir Parikh, Psychiatrist and Director of the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, Fortis Healthcare, Delhi who has authored numerous books including one called How To Raise Confident Children, says firstly content can be incorrect and that can falsely influence and increase stereotyping. For this, they should be given media literacy training in schools. Secondly, if not balanced with outdoor or social activities and academics, the overuse can cause concern. Thirdly, peer influence and the pressure of conformity affects the individual self-development of children.&nbsp; 
 
This tells us how important a concern this should be for parents of children who use the internet frequently and more so, social media use. While banning social media or phones or hovering around the kids 24/7 is certainly not a solution, what we can do is lay down a set of rules for its use. But how? 
Says Dr Anupam Sibal, paediatrician, Group Medical Director of Apollo Hospitals Group and also the author of Is Your Child Ready to Face the World, “It is important to have some clear parameters. How much time and what time of the day, needs to be defined. Absolutely no usage zones like the dining table need to be adhered to. Late night use is a no-no as the stimulation tricks the brain that it isn't time to sleep and the sleep cycle is disturbed.” 
 
The most important rule is of course the no-negotiation rule that because it is social media, the less used the better. While we as parents cannot always ensure this, the least we can do is try and keep regular checks and most important keep the channels of communication open and keep the discussions ongoing with the kids. It’s the least we can do for those we love so much and who we want to keep safe always. 
 
For the rest, the government needs to take this up as a very serious concern and put checks in place before it's too late.

Try a colourful foam water table for a soapy twist on traditional summer fun. Add dish soap to your kids` water table, and agitate to make tons of bubbles. Try dropping in some food colouring and have the kids mix up a rainbow of colours. It`s an innovative way to breathe life into an old toy. 
 
Ice Excavation:

Are you on the hunt for water activities for kids who love to explore? Add small plastic toys to a water-filled bowl, then freeze it. Turn the bowl upside down and release the block of ice for a fun excavation activity for little ones. She was seen patting the kid's back and talking to her personally, while Ju-ae "appeared calmer". At that time, the other children were seen huddling around the North Korean dictator and jumping excitedly.

Notably, it is said that the girl also stood out because of her attire, as she was the only one with her hair down and donning white socks.

Moreover, the camera seemed to focus more on her, lingering for several seconds when the song began and returning to her frequently.

According to local reports, Ju-ae is believed to have been born in 2013.

Little is known about Kim Jong-un's children. The fact that he has a daughter was first revealed by Kim's friend and basketball star Dennis Rodman after his visit to the hermit country in 2013.

That would make the girl around nine or 10 years old —which matches up with the child in the new video, Pyongyang experts noted.

According to the figures released by the Children’s Commissioner, kids aged from 10 to 17 underwent the ‘intrusive and traumatising’ strip searches between 2018 and 2020, in which almost three out of five (58 per cent) were black, and more than 95 per cent were boys.

The revelation comes close to the heels of the Child Q scandal in which a teenage black girl on her period was told to strip naked for a drug search by police without another adult present. No drugs were found.

Expressing concern over the ethnic imbalance, Children’s Commissioner Dame Rachel de Souza, who published the report on Monday, said the Child Q incident was not isolated and represented a ‘systemic problem’ within the Met.

“I am not reassured that what happened to Child Q was an isolated issue, but instead believe it may be a particularly concerning example of a more systemic problem around child protection within the Metropolitan Police,” she was quoted as saying.

“I remain unconvinced that the Metropolitan Police is consistently considering children’s welfare and wellbeing,’ she added.

De Souza questioned the necessity of this “intrusive and traumatising” practice after data revealed that in 53 per cent of cases no further action was taken.

“This low level of successful searches arguably indicates that this intrusive practice may well not be justified or necessary in all cases,” she was quoted as saying by The Guardian.

She also raised concerns about “a lack of appropriate oversight” on police practising strip searches after the data revealed that in one in five cases there was no way of knowing where it even took place.

Meanwhile, four Metropolitan Police officers are being questioned for gross misconduct by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in connection with the Child Q incident.

They have apologised and said it “should never have happened”.

This is not the first time Met has been accused of exhibiting racial bias. According to a 1999 report, the Met was found to be “institutionally racist”.
