<p>During a press meet, Salman was asked if he now felt that Priyanka may have been a wrong cast choice for the role. To which the actor said,"No, not a wrong cast. But initially, Priyanka was very keen to do this film. Ali (director Ali Abbas Zafar) and we all thought it was Katrina Kaif`s film. But Katrina and I did `Tiger Zinda Hai` just before that and Ali said that we need a girl who is `Hindustani`.</p>

<p>"I tried telling him, `Why can`t she (Katrina) pull off this role? She has been living in India for the last 20 years.` But then Ali said, `Priyanka ka phone aaya tha? (we got a call from Priyanka)` and it is also true that Priyanka and my sister Arpita Khan are good friends.</p>

<p>"After all this, the `Nick story` happened, the embarrassing thing happened and she chose to get married."</p>

<p>Salman said: "Look, she did the right thing. She did what she wanted, and Katrina got what she deserved. She (Priyanka) informed us five days before the schedule was supposed to start... she must have thought that in this way I would get upset with her and will never work with her.</p>

<p>"She spoke to me saying, `Nick (American actor-singer Nick Jonas) has proposed to me and I want to get married, so there will be some date issues`. I said, `Sure, get married, we can adjust those two, three days. Then she said that she does not want to do the film."</p>

<p>While he believes Priyanka is a hard-working actress, who efficiently maintains her career in Bollywood as well as in the American entertainment industry, he said it takes guts to leave one of the biggest films of her career to get married.</p>

<p>Priyanka, soon after leaving 'Bharat', opted for 'The Sky Is Pink'.</p>

<p>Ali Abbas Zafar spent several days thinking about a perfect name for the lead character of his upcoming film and the director says he even delved into mythology until he got a perfect title in 'Bharat'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film, which is scheduled to release on June 5, is a remake of 'Ode To My Father'.</p>

<p>Ali says he was extremely impressed with the 2014 Korean drama but the adaptation had to be in sync with the Indian sensibilities. "I didn't want to call it 'Ode to My Father.' I wasn't looking only at the promise he makes to his father but a lot of other things. I told Salman I'll make the film as not only his but the nation's journey. But I needed to know what the character should be called," Ali told PTI.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The director said since Salman was headlining it, the film had to be 'completely re-written', while simultaneously finding an ideal Indian name for the hero.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I thought Ram is an ideal hero from mythology. Could the character be called Arjun because he is doing it for his dharma, karma? Or should he be called Karna, a selfless hero? What do I call the film?&nbsp;I felt if he is synonymous with what the nation has been over the generations, he should be named after the country. One night at 3AM, I was tossing on the bed, thinking hard, and then I had it: Bharat," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He immediately shared the name with Salman and producer Atul Agnihotri.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Producer Sajid Nadiadwala had the title registered under him so I told him about our film. Both Salman and Atul also jumped on it. Once I found the title, I started writing the film."</p>

<p>Ali Abbas Zafar, who has previously helmed blockbuster Salman Khan films such as 'Sultan' and 'Tiger Zinda Hai' was clear that he needs to put his maximum work into the writing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The writing process for 'Bharat' lasted almost a year and a half and Ali said, of all the Salman films, this one has gone through severe drafting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"To bring out an emotion is the most difficult thing in a film. If you can crack that code, crack the reason you're making the film and how the audience will react, everything else becomes peripheral. Once I understood the emotion we were trying to show the film was set."</p>

<p>The 36-year-old filmmaker said he wanted to do a film on relationships and 'Bharat'&nbsp;was a perfect choice.&nbsp;'Sultan' was about a man fighting his ego. 'Tiger' was a rescue drama with action but 'Bharat' is solely a film on relationships. That was a new territory for me. At 36, I wanted to explore a man at 70. I pushed myself."</p>

<p>The film features the 53-year-old superstar in several looks, depicting changing decades, and Ali Abbas Zafar says 'Bharat' has "six Salman Khan films in it."</p>

<p>"The soul is the same throughout every look but every chapter is like a story, with a beginning, middle and an end. Like the thin moustache he sports is a hat tip to the Guru Dutt era.''</p>

<p>"As we evolved, the look changed with bell bottoms, the language changed- from Urdu it become Hindustani and few English words came in. Along with the language graph, the visual tone also changes."</p>

The upcoming film also starring Jackie Shroff and Sonali Kulkarni is a remake of the 2014 South Korean blockbuster 'Ode to My Father'.</p>

Katrina Kaif reveals the real reason why she walked out of the dance film with Varun Dhawan

<p>Is Katrina Kaif eyeing an alternate profession? The actress recently posted a video on her instagram page that seem to indicate that the actress is eyeing a profession in cricket.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Katrina can be seen batting and hitting of a few sixes in the video. Turns out the actress was playing a game of cricket on sets of 'Bharat' post pack-up. From the looks of it, Katrina seems to have aced her batting and even requested co-star and friend Anushka Sharma to put in a 'small word' on her behalf to the captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It is a learning and it will help me grow as a director. I am not afraid to take risks and experiment," Rai told PTI when asked if he was disappointed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Salman Khan’s ‘Bharat’ is one of the most-awaited films this year after a big crash for the superstar at the box office last year with ‘Race 3’.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Those waiting to see Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan together on the big screen, will not have to wait much longer as the makers have now announced that the teaser of the film will be out soon. Producer Atul Agnihotri shared a new video on Twitter teasing fans that the teaser will be out in some time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film will also see Sunil Grover, Disha Patani, Nora Fatehi and Tabu.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The team has been busy shooting for the film in different locations including Dubai, Punjab and Delhi.
