Amber Heard says ex-husband Johnny Depp threatened to kill her

Actress and #MeToo campaigner Katherine Kendall said on Friday Britain's Sun newspaper had deliberately misused her quotes in an article which labelled Hollywood star Johnny Depp a 'wife beater'. Depp, 57, is suing the publisher of that newspaper for libel over the article, saying he had never struck his ex-wife Amber Heard, and it was Heard that hit him during their volatile relationship.

The paper argues its story is true and its lawyers have told London's High Court that Heard accuses her ex-husband of attacking her on at least 14 occasions between 2013 and 2016 when he was enraged after drinking or taking drugs.

Kendall was quoted in the Sun's original article as saying: "I don’t stand behind hitting people or abusing people. It seems that Amber got hurt."

But Kendall said in a written statement to the court she had been misquoted by the tabloid. She said she had texted the Sun reporter after the article was printed and told her: "It seems that the whole article was about defaming him."

The Sun article had mentioned Kendall`s advocacy for the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment and assault, and her accusations that disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein sexually harassed her.
"Although it was true that I was a victim of Harvey Weinstein, the rest was a lie," she said in her witness statement.

"I was not `going public`, on behalf of #MeToo or myself, to criticize JK Rowling`s decision to cast Mr Depp, nor did I accuse Mr Depp of hurting Amber Heard, about which I have no first-hand knowledge."

Kendall, who appeared by videolink from Los Angeles, was not questioned about her statement. She was the last witness called as part of Depp`s case which has spanned nine days. Heard is due to start giving evidence on Monday when the paper begins its defence.

Before Kendall`s appearance, a friend of Amber Heard said one of Depp`s lawyers had pressured her to say unfavourable things about Heard in a U.S. court declaration.

In her written statement, interior designer Laura Divenere stated she had not seen any injury to Heard in the days after Heard alleges Depp threw a phone which struck her face.

Asked by Sasha Wass, lawyer for the Sun's publisher News Group Newspapers, if she had come under 'enormous pressure' to make the declaration, Divenere said: 'Correct'.

Earlier the court heard from Depp`s long-time friend, artist Isaac Baruch, who said a 'distraught' Depp had come to see him in 2013, and told him Heard 'likes to hit', and that she would punch him after starting fights.

In his witness statement, Baruch said Depp had told him: "I don't know what I'm gonna do, because I'm not gonna hit her, you know me I'm not gonna hit her, I love her."

Baruch, who lived in one of the Los Angeles penthouses owned by Depp, also said Heard had no visible injuries in the days after she alleges that Depp threw a mobile phone during a heated argument in May 2016.

In other testimony on Friday, Travis McGivern, one of Depp's security guards, said he saw Heard throw a full can of Red Bull drink at Depp, spit down at him from a landing and punch him in the eye during another argument in March 2015.
Depp and Heard met while making 'The Rum Diary' in 2011 and married in February 2015. Heard filed for divorce 15 months later.

Johnny Depp's libel case: Winona Ryder, Vanessa Paradis won't appear as witnesses

Hollywood star Johnny Depp wrote on a wall with blood from his severed fingertip during a long and violent confrontation with his ex-wife Amber Heard, London`s High Court heard on Thursday at his libel case against a British tabloid.

Depp told the court he suffered "some species of nervous breakdown" during a row with actress Heard, but denied he had violently attacked her and accused her of cutting his finger by throwing a bottle at him.

The revelations came on the third day of Depp`s appearance in the witness stand as he sues the publisher of Britain`s Sun tabloid, News Group Newspapers, over an article in which it labelled the actor a "wife beater".

Throughout the case, Depp has rejected all accusations that he was violent towards his former wife, saying that they were part of hoax created by Heard as an insurance policy.

"She was building a wonderful dossier, an insurance policy for when we did break up," he said.

The court heard that Depp was in Australia in March 2015 to film "Pirates of the Caribbean" a month after the couple married. Heard had flown to join him from London, where she had been making a movie with co-star Billy Bob Thornton.
The Sun`s lawyer Sasha Wass said Heard suffered a three-day ordeal at Depp`s hands in the rented house where the actor was staying after she became angry at him because he had been drinking to excess and taking drugs.

Consumed with jealousy about Heard and Thornton, Depp attacked her, constantly swigging from a bottle, Wass said.
He slapped Heard across the face, smashed her head against a fridge, and she barricaded herself in her bedroom to escape him, the court was told. Wass said Depp spat in her face, grabbed her by the throat and told her it would be easy to crush her neck.

"Fabricated and vicious," Depp replied, rejecting all the accusations. "I vehemently deny it and go as far as to say it was pedestrian fiction."

He agreed the couple had a row on the final day that began because he wanted Heard to sign a post-nuptial agreement, and he had not been drinking until that point.

`NERVOUS BREAKDOWN`

Depp said Heard threw two vodka bottles at him, the second of which "severed my finger and crushed my bones".
"That is when I began what I feel was perhaps some species of a nervous breakdown," he told the court.

He said he began to write messages on the wall in blood with his severed finger, before then using paint. One message on a mirror said: "Starring Billy Bob, Easy Amber".

Wass said the house was a scene of "carnage" with paint everywhere, and windows and the television smashed. It caused $100,000-150,000 of damage, according to Depp`s assistant, the lawyer said.

By December 2015, Depp was regularly using violence against Heard, according to Wass. He replied the problem was that he ran away from fights.

At their LA penthouse, Wass said when Heard stood up to Depp, he chased her, saying "you think you are a fucking tough guy?", slapped, then headbutted her in "an uncontrollable rage", pulled out clumps of her hair and said he was going to kill her.

"It`s a lie," Depp said.

Shown pictures of Heard with two black eyes, Depp said he had tried to grab her eyes while defending himself and he could have headbutted her accidentally.

Earlier Depp denied attacking Heard while trying to ease himself off prescription drugs on his private island in the Bahamas in August 2014, the "lowest point of my life", he said.

He accused Heard of withholding medication that would ease the process, calling it "one of the cruellest things that she has ever done", the court was told.

However, Wass said Heard, 34, was following instructions from Depp`s medical team which led Depp to push and hit her.

"I did not push Miss Heard or attack her in any way," Depp said. "I was not in a condition to do so in any case."
Johnny Depp severed finger during three-day row with ex-wife, UK court told

Hollywood star Johnny Depp kicked and slapped his ex-wife Amber Heard on a private flight in a drunken rage brought on because he believed she was having an affair with her co-star James Franco, London`s High Court heard on Wednesday.

Depp, giving evidence in his libel trial against Britain`s Sun newspaper over an article describing him as a "wife beater", denied he had attacked Heard, accusing her of being the aggressor whom he tried to placate.

During the first two days of what is expected to be a three-week case, the court has heard evidence about Depp`s heavy drinking and drug use and about his relationship with Heard whom he married in 2015. She filed for divorce 15 months later.

On Wednesday, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor was accused of abusing Heard on a flight from Boston to Los Angeles following a row over Franco, who appeared with her in the film "The Adderall Diaries".

Depp told the court that he was surprised she agreed to make the film with Franco, having previously described him as "creepy" for making aggressive sexual advances towards her.

On the flight, Depp screamed obscenities at Heard, said she liked having sex on film sets and called her a "go-getter slut and a whore", said Sasha Wass, lawyer for the Sun.

In a "blind rage", he kicked her in the back as she tried to walk away from him and slapped her across the face, Wass said.

Depp denied the accusations.

"I am not a violent person, especially with women," he told the court.

He later added that he might have passed out on the flight.

Wass said that on the day after the flight, Depp sent Heard a text message which said: "I don`t know why or what happened but I will never do it again."

Asked why he had apologised, Depp said he had perhaps done so because he had said something "ugly" or to placate her.

Asked if someone who kicked a woman should be called a wife beater, Depp, 57, said he would call them a savage or an animal.

"It`s one of the most disgusting things someone has ever said about me or accused me of."

TATTOO TANTRUM

Earlier Depp said Heard`s allegations were a hoax built up over years during their relationship as an "insurance policy".
In an unsent email composed by Heard in June 2013, three years before she publicly accused him of abuse, she said Depp had hurt her physically and that she did not know if she was dealing with him or "the monster" - his alter ego brought on by anger, jealousy and fuelled by alcohol and drugs.

"It`s like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde," the email, read to the court by Wass, said. It added that friends and assistants had to deal with the actor after he passed out in his own vomit and soiled himself with no recollection later of his actions.

Asked if the email meant Heard had been plotting the allegations for three years, Depp said: "By the evidence that I have seen.

"It appears to me that Miss Heard was building a dossier that appears to be an insurance policy for later."

The court heard the first alleged incident of violence took place at Heard`s home in March 2013 when he had "fallen off the wagon" and started drinking again after months of sobriety.

Wass said Depp had become angry when Heard mocked one of his tattoos which he had changed from "Winona forever" - a reference to his former girlfriend Winona Ryder - to "Wino forever" and slapped her three times.

"That`s not the case, that`s untrue. It didn`t happen," Depp said. "I don`t recall any argument about any of my tattoos."
Wass also said he had struck Heard, 34, when he tried to remove a painting from her bedroom given to her by her former partner Tasya Van Ree and tried to set it alight, one of 14 episodes of violence of which he is accused in the case.

Wass asked Depp if he had held Heard`s small Yorkshire Terrier Pistol out of the window of a moving car.
"I can say it is a very enduring image but it’s an utter falsity," he said, while agreeing that there was a running joke with Heard and her family about putting Pistol in the microwave as he was "ludicrously tiny".

Johnny Depp's assault case reveals 'the monster'

Hollywood star Johnny Depp accused his ex-wife Amber Heard of lying about him beating her up, and told London`s High Court on Tuesday that she had actually struck him.

Depp, the 57-year-old star of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' films, is suing The Sun`s publisher, News Group Newspapers, and its executive editor, Dan Wootton, for libel over an article Wootton wrote in April 2018 calling him a "wife beater".

The paper`s lawyers said they would show the claim was true and that he had beaten actress Heard, causing her to fear for her life, during violent rages brought on by alcohol or drugs, sometimes when he had falsely accused her of infidelity.

"For the avoidance of any doubt, I have never abused Ms Heard, or, indeed, any other woman, in my life," Depp said in a witness statement in which he characterised his ex-wife as a calculating, emotionally dishonest narcissist.

Wearing a dark suit and glasses and speaking in a deep clear tone, Depp gave evidence at the beginning of the case at London`s High Court. Heard, who arrived wearing a red scarf tied around her face, is also due to give evidence.

In a written statement outlining Depp`s case, his lawyer David Sherborne said Heard had first aired the abuse allegations in May 2016, saying it was hard to think of "more extreme or violent" claims of abuse than she would make during the trial.

"The Claimant`s position is clear; Ms Heard`s allegations are complete lies," Sherborne said. "The Claimant was not violent towards Ms Heard, it was she who was violent to him."

In papers submitted to the court, Depp`s team also said Heard had begun an affair with Tesla chief executive Elon Musk in early 2015 shortly after they had got married and had engaged in at least one extra-marital relationship with her co-stars, with actor James Franco named.

Appearing in the witness box, American Depp said he was the victim of attacks from his ex-wife and had himself sought to avoid confrontation.

"I would try to go to my own corner as it were," he said. Asked about one argument, Depp said: "It escalated and it got physical ... Miss Heard struck me."

THREE-WEEK CASE

The couple met on the set of the 2011 film 'The Rum Diary' and married in February 2015. Heard filed for divorce after 15 months, and days later obtained a restraining order against Depp. Their divorce was finalised in 2017 when the restraining order was dismissed.

Cross-examined by lawyer Sasha Wass, Depp agreed he had taken "every drug known to man" by the age of 14 and said he had a difficult childhood and struggled to come to terms with his fame and success.

"Even when I speak my own name it sounds foreign to me," he said.

The court was shown mobile phone footage taken by Heard which showed an angry Depp slamming kitchen cupboard doors and pouring himself a "mega" glass of wine.

"I can only say I was upset, very upset," he said, adding it was not a pleasant video to watch.

Wass said he would turn into an alternate persona which he himself described as "the monster", which was brought on by anger, jealousy or drugs.

He said "the monster" Heard referred to was when he yelled back at her in arguments.

"It would become a screaming match and that was the monster," he said. "It`s not Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde."

Depp denied Wass`s suggestion that he had a "nasty, angry side".

Depp is also being sued by a crew member from one of his films in 2018 who accused him of punching him twice in the ribs, the court heard.

Wass recounted a statement from actress Ellen Barkin, who said Depp had thrown a bottle of wine across a hotel room on one occasion and had got jealous and angry.

"Untrue," Depp replied, saying Barkin held a grudge. "I do not have an anger management problem."

In his witness statement, Depp said Heard had thrown a vodka bottle at him, severing his finger off, and that his ex-wife or one of her friends had defecated in their bed.

The case is set to last for three weeks, the judge, Andrew Nicol, said. Also due to give evidence via videolink are Vanessa Paradis, Depp`s former partner, and actress Winona Ryder.

Johnny Depp appears in UK court, rejects ex-wife's abuse claims

A libel trial was due to begin on Tuesday between Hollywood actor Johnny Depp and a British tabloid newspaper over claims that he was violent to his former wife, Amber Heard.

Depp, 57, is suing News Group Newspapers (NGN), publisher of The Sun, and its executive editor Dan Wootton for an April 2018 article which referred to him as a "wife beater".

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star strenuously denies the accusation.

The case, which was delayed because of the coronavirus outbreak, will be heard over 15 days at the High Court in London.

The couple settled a divorce out of court in 2017. She donated a settlement of $7 million (£5.6 million, 6.2 million euros) to charity.

Depp denies being abusive towards Heard, 34, and has brought separate libel proceedings against her in the United States.

As well as Depp and Heard, his former partners Vanessa Paradis, the French singer, and the actress Winona Ryder are due to give evidence.

In pre-trial witness statements Paradis -- his former long-time partner with whom he has two children -- has described the actor as "kind" and "non-violent".

Ryder said she could not "wrap my head around" Heard's accusations that Depp was abusive.

NGN failed last week in a last-ditch bid to have the case dismissed, arguing Depp was in breach of a court order for failing to disclose documents from the US case.

Nicol, who will rule on the case, agreed he was in breach but decided the trial should go ahead nonetheless.

The Sun is relying in its defence on 14 separate claims of domestic violence that Heard alleges occurred between early 2013 and May 2016.

During pre-trial hearings, NGN lawyers said Depp had failed to hand over details of text messages from 2015, which allegedly referred to drug-taking.

They argued they were "profoundly damaging to his case".

The messages were sent shortly before what Heard has claimed was a "three-day ordeal of physical assaults" in Australia, the court heard.

Judge Nicol had previously refused an application by Depp's legal team to require Heard to disclose evidence, including a secret recording of a conversation with the actor.

The request also involved communications between Heard and "Rocketman", a contact saved in her phone who Depp claims is the SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk, as well as with actor James Franco.
Depp's lawyer David Sherborne told the court last week that Heard had affairs with both Musk and Franco while she was going out with or married to his client.
Johnny Depp's 'wife beater' libel case can go ahead, UK judge rules

It's Johnny Depp's birthday today and the actor is raising awareness around the Black Lives Matter movement through his social media post.

A day before he turned 57, the actor posted a video on Instagram where he can be seen crooning Bob Dylan's cult classic 'The Times They Are A-Changing'. The video was a tribute post for George Floyd and the protest against racism that has erupted in America since his death.

Depp put up a long post along with the video where he talked about the origin of the song in November 1963, just weeks before John F Kennedy was assassinated.

He correlated the song to the present times and wrote, "Dylan’s song applies to Covid-19, it also, very strongly applies to the life-altering image of George Floyd, forever seared to our brains… For me, it applies to the moment we are in, it applies to the moment they were in in 1963, it applies to everything before and everything since and everything that will be."

Dylan had already achieved stratospheric acclaim from his treasure-producing workmanship and poetic abilities. He had already jacked up the bar of songwriting to an untouchable level. He also became a reluctant prophet, which can be quite an occupational hazard…Yet he remained himself while dodging all manner of con artists, bloodsuckers, angles, arrows, ignorance, injustices, and scrutinization of his life. His intentions remained pure. So he sat down and wrote the gold standard of protest songs, the seminal and most significant, mind boggling and staggeringly poetic, prophetic protest song the world will ever know: “The Times They Are A-Changin’”. Dylan’s song applies to Covid-19, it also, very strongly applies to the life altering image of George Floyd, forever seared to our brains… For me, it applies to the moment we are in, it applies to the moment they were in in 1963, it applies to everything before and everything since and everything that will be. I chose to perform this song live, for my friend @drbarbarasturm Covid benefit several weeks ago… I didn’t really know how to play it, but I figured I’d give it a shot, as it seemed to apply so well. And it applies now, more than ever. It was performed a couple of weeks before our collective paralysis was rendered complete by the images of our fellow human George Floyd being cruelly and brutally tortured to death on live TV. Let us take a moment to remember the sacrificial hero George Floyd and look with hope towards the changes that his tragic death will cause. And let’s salute the reluctant prophet Bob Dylan and the dream of change he inspired then, now, and onwards… His impact is that of Shakespeare, Marlowe, Hunter Thompson, Marlon Brando, Woody Guthrie, William Blake, Picasso, Bach and Mozart. Dylan’s song is to be kept near you, AT ALL TIMES!!! All love and respect, JD

Depp is among the many known faces from the entertainment industry who have spoken against the murder of George Floyd who died after a Police officer knelt on him for over eight minutes.
Hollywood star Johnny Depp appeared in a London court on Wednesday to hear his lawyer argue that Depp's ex-wife had lied when she accused him of beating her in comments quoted by the tabloid newspaper the Sun.

Depp, the 55-year-old star of the movie 'Pirates of the Caribbean', is suing the tabloid's publisher, News Group Newspapers, and its executive editor Dan Wootton for libel over an article Wootton wrote in 2018 calling Depp a 'wife beater'.

Depp himself attended the High Court for the first day of the pre-trial review. The trial proper is due to start on March 23 and last two weeks.

Hollywood star Johnny Depp appeared in a London court on Wednesday to hear his lawyer argue that Depp's ex-wife had lied when she accused him of beating her in comments quoted by the tabloid newspaper the Sun.

Both Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard accused each other of physical abuse during their relationship. Heard first made allegations in 2016, which Depp denied. "One of them is lying and doing so on a grand scale," said a skeleton argument submitted by Depp's lawyers and distributed to journalists. "It is a very important function therefore of this libel trial that these allegations are tested, and either proved or disproved." The onus in the case is on the Sun to prove that it has not committed libel. It will argue simply that the article is not defamatory because it is true. Johnny Depp takes newspaper agency to court in 'wife beater' libel case

A lot of us have grown up reading and watching Harry Potter books and films. JK Rowling's tale of a boy wizard and a magical world not so far away from us fascinated people of all ages. And when the last film 'Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows 2' released in 2011, it left a void among Potter fans. In 2016, a spin-off 'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them' opened up the possibilities to get immersed in Rowling's magical world once again. While the film worked enormously because of its leading man Eddie Redmayne and his strange creature who gave viewers a glimpse of the wizarding world beyond Hogwarts, its sequel, 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crime of Grindelwald' goes back to basics.

Also read: The 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' actress Katherine Waterston on Trump: He is inspiring hate

The film picks up from where the first one had ended. Gellert Grindelwald, the dark wizard, was arrested in the first film and the sequel now opens with him escaping while being transported to Paris one dark and rainy night. Threat over wizarding world looms large as Grindlewald is out to destroy the peace and established order of the wizards. Albus Dumbledore(Jude Law), his once-friend now nemesis- is the biggest hindrance to the mission and he wants Credence (Ezra Miller) to do the job on his behalf.

Dumbledore on his part, asks Newt Scamander(Redmayne) to catch Grindelwald and convince Credence to not cross over to the dark side.

From the very beginning, there is a certain Potter hangover that the film's screenplay suffers from. Written by Rowling herself, the story arbitrarily keeps throwing references from the Potter universe which are not always needed. Rowling makes the wizarding world appear like a clique of sorts which cannot move past Hogwarts, Dumbledore, and Potter. When the first film of the series had released, it had primarily worked because the story had shifted to America with newer characters. The film was able to open up the possibilities of a magical world beyond England, which was exciting and there was a freshness to it. But somehow, in the second part, as the film shifts to Paris, the story keeps going back to the hugely popular Potter franchise for references of almost all characters. It's like Rowling is afraid to experiment and bring up newer stories.

I also missed the beasts a lot in this film. The first film had some fascinating beasts and their equation with their master of sorts, Scamander. While the second film opens with fascinating beasts, but eventually the film becomes a sappy story of Dumbledore's past which may or may not interest you.

When you put Johnny Depp and Jude Law in the same film, you crave to watch them share screen space but apart from a small bit, the two actors do not have any scene together and only keep referring to each other. Both are, though, in their respective parts very good. As Grindlewald, Depp brings a philosophical side to an evil man while Law makes the deep Dumbledore more warm and exuberant.

I wish the screenplay had allowed Redmayne and Miller to perform more. Such fantastic actors but they are there in the background mostly.

We all miss Harry Potter and his fascinating tale but perhaps Rowling misses him the most because she just can't seem to think beyond her popular series and create something from scratch.

It was not easy for actress Amber Heard to come out as bisexual to her parents.

In a new explosive interview, while being a part of the SXSW featured session Making Change On and Off the Screen on Saturday, Heard revealed that it wasn’t easy because her parents couldn’t process it. She said, "They didn't know how to process it because, for them, it was being thrown into a binary system of processing it, negative or positive."

For someone who is quite vocal about her sexual preference, she pointed out that for her parents it was very new. She explained, "I am from Austin, Texas. My dad is out of central casting Texan. Good Southern man, and I was raised in a religious home. And being an outspoken lesbian, atheist, vegetarian, I remember when I told them about my relationship, that I was in love with this woman, and at the beginning of that it was just tears, tears."

Amber Heard says it was difficult to come out as a bisexual to her parents

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Johnny Depp has sued actress and former wife Amber Heard for defamation as she claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse during the course of their marriage. Depp now seeks damages in $50 million against Heard.

Heard claimed to be a survivor of domestic abuse in an article published on December 18, 2018, in The Washington Post.

Calling out the allegation, Depp claims that they are just a “hoax”. He had earlier claimed that he has fresh evidence to disprove Heard's domestic violence allegations against him.

In the current lawsuit, Depp’s lawyer states that she “purported to write from the perspective of ‘a public figure representing domestic abuse’ and claimed that she ‘felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out’ when she ‘spoke up against sexual violence’.”

The lawsuit continued: “The op-ed depended on the central premise that Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her. Depp never abused Heard. Her allegations against him were false when they were made in 2016. They were part of an elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity for Heard and advance her career.”

To this, Heard’s representative said: “This frivolous action is just the latest of Johnny Depp’s repeated efforts to silence Amber Heard. She will not be silenced. Depp’s actions prove he is unable to accept the truth of his ongoing abusive behaviour. But while he appears hell-bent on achieving self-destruction, we will prevail in defeating this groundless lawsuit and ending the continued vile harassment of my client by Depp and his legal team.”

The two actors were married for a short period between February 2015 and May 2016. They met on the sets of 2011 film ‘The Rum Diary’. Their divorce got bitter after Heard filed for a domestic violence restraining order against Depp in May 2016 post-accusing him of abusing her.

Depp denied the claims, and the two settled their divorce out-of-court in August 2016 for $7 million. Heard donated the money to charity. They signed NDAs barring them from discussing their relationship publicly.

An old interview of Johnny Depp has resurfaced where the actor talks about of his fear of getting replaced by Tom Hanks from his breakout film 'Edward Scissorhands'.

In the 1990 dark fantasy feature, directed by Tim Burton, Depp played an artificial man named Edward who has scissor blades instead of hands.

The film was instrumental in the success of Depp and his co-star Winona Ryder and it is considered a cult classic by many film aficionados.

The interview, conducted by host Charlie Rose in 1999, was unearthed by The Hollywood Reporter. During his discussion with Rose, the actor said he was confident that he was going to be fired from the film as Burton would rehearse with the whole cast, except for him.

''He didn't know exactly what I was going to do when I walked on the set, the same thing with Ed Wood. In fact, I spent the first two weeks of Ed Wood and Scissorhands and Sleepy Hallow thinking I was going to be fired, that I was going to be replaced. But luckily Tim was happy with the stuff, and I didn't lose my job,'' Depp said.

Rose refused to believe the actor but Depp recounted an incident from 'Edward Scissorhands' sets that convinced him that Hanks would soon replace him.

''I can remember when we were doing 'Scissorhands' we were living in this sort of resort, some kind of country club thing, and there was a knock on the door ...
"So, I opened the door and said, 'How do you do?' and they said, 'Hi. Is Tom Hanks here? Does he live here?' I said, 'What? No. Not yet.' And I was convinced that Hanks would be replacing me. I was convinced. It was one of the most frightening moments in my career."
