My hand swelled up,” he said, adding that medical expenditures after the incident had to be borne by fellow workers.&nbsp;Hessa said that when several workers demanded to leave, factory staff allegedly turned violent. 'Slapped, then beaten and warned not to leave': 100 Jharkhand tribal workers allege abuse in TN textile unit

Sanjay, a hotel owner in Latehar district, had suffered severe burn injuries after a short circuit erupted at his hotel last Monday.&nbsp;The hospital authorities confirmed that after the burn, he had sustained 65 per cent burns and was undergoing treatment in Ranchi before the family decided to shift him to a hospital in Delhi for better treatment. During the crash, Sanjay's wife, a relative, two pilots, one doctor, and one paramedic also lost their lives.&nbsp;The charter plane, a Beechcraft C90, was operated by Delhi-based charter service Redbird Airways. The founder and CEO of Devkamal Hospital &amp; Research Centre, Dr Anant Sinha, told news agency ANI, "The patient's name was Sanjay Kumar. He was forty-one years old. He was admitted to our hospital on the 16th...He had suffered around sixty per cent burns. We kept him in the ICU...Some relatives suggested they might want him to be taken abroad for better treatment...They negotiated and arranged for an air ambulance...Unfortunately, we got the news that a plane had crashed... Sanjay’s brother Ajay, who is employed with the Haryana government, said the family came from an economically disadvantaged background. The aircraft had been chartered to transfer Sanjay to Gangaram Hospital for advanced treatment.&nbsp;Sanjay’s wife, Archana, and another relative, Dhruv, were also on board the flight, along with two crew members and medical staff. All seven people lost their lives in the crash. The Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd–operated Beechcraft C90 aircraft departed from Ranchi at 7:11 pm IST on Monday.&nbsp;The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said, "The aircraft took off from Ranchi at 19:11 IST. After establishing contact with Kolkata, it requested a deviation due to the weather. At 19:34 IST, the aircraft lost communication and radar contact with Kolkata at approximately 100 nautical miles southeast of Varanasi."&nbsp;Officials said the aircraft requested a route change shortly before contact was lost due to bad weather. One official indicated that the crash likely occurred amid a thunderstorm. Simariya Block Superintendent Sumit Kumar Agarwal told news agency ANI, “We got information around 10 that an accident had happened. Getting here was difficult considering the terrain,” describing the challenges faced by rescue teams in reaching the forested crash site near Simaria.&nbsp;The medical evacuation flight from Ranchi to Delhi went down soon after takeoff in the Bariatu Panchayat area of Simaria in Chatra district. Jharkhand election results 2024:&nbsp;India’s opposition INDIA bloc expectedly defeated PM Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the eastern state of Jharkhand in results announced on Saturday (Nov 23).

The bloc comfortably crossed the majority mark of 41. PM Modi congratulated JMM chief Hemant Soren in a post on X.

“I thank the people of Jharkhand for their support towards us. We will always be at the forefront of raising people’s issues and working for the state,” PM Modi wrote on X, “I also congratulate the JMM-led alliance for their performance in the state.”

Assembly elections in the state were held in two phases: On November 13 and 20.

Jharkhand election results 2024: Full list of winners and their constituencies

It was a major election day in India, with by-polls held on 31 assembly seats across 10 states and elections held on 43 seats of the 81-member state legislative assembly in Jharkhand on Wednesday (Nov 13). Here is a round-up of all poll-related developments from across India.

<h2>Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024</h2>

The polling on 43 assembly seats of Jharkhand began Wednesday morning, with turnout recorded at 64 per cent until 5:00 pm (IST). Of all assembly seats, Khunti district recorded the highest turnout till 11:00 am&nbsp;at 34.12 per cent, followed by 33.86 per cent in Gumla, 33.44 per cent in Lohardaga and 33.18 per cent in Simdega.

The 43 seats include 17 general seats, 20 reserved seats for Scheduled Tribes and six&nbsp;seats for Scheduled Castes.

In Jharkhand, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is contesting against the national ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). On the other hand, JMM is part of the national opposition INDIA bloc, led by the Congress party. BJP’s allies in the state include All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) and Janata Dal (United) whereas INDIA bloc allies include JMM, Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Left parties.

Along with phase 1 of Jharkhand assembly polls, elections were underway across 31 seats in 10 Indian states, including seven seats in Rajasthan, six in West Bengal, five in Assam, four in Bihar, three in Karnataka, two in Madhya Pradesh, and one each in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Kerala, and Meghalaya.

In West Bengal, over 45 per cent turnout was recorded till 1:00 pm. Scattered events of violence were reported from the state, with one member of the ruling TMC party getting killed in a bomb attack in Bhatpara.

<h2>Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll </h2>

By-poll was also underway in the high-profile Lok Sabha seat of Wayanad, where Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her electoral debut.

The bypoll is being held after the seat was vacated by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as he retained the Raebareli seat in Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka is competing against 15 candidates, including Sathyan Mokeri of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and Navya Haridas of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Polling in Wayanad crossed 50.63 per cent by 3:00&nbsp;pm IST.

Results for all seats will be declared on November 23.
