US Vice President JD Vance, at the Turning Point USA event at the University of Georgia, defended the aggressive crackdown on H1B visas by the US government. While responding to a question from an Indian origin student, Vance acknowledged the fraud concerns of the H1B Visas, but heaped praises on his in-laws for enriching the country. He claimed that the responsibility for such immigrants coming to the country on an H1B Visa is to embrace the American identity and “the system only works if everyone thinks about America.”A student in the audience asked Vance what the Trump administration was doing to improve the situation of green cards. She added that her parents came through an H1B visa, and it would have taken 150 years for them to get a green card. She claimed that her parents sent her to a private catholic school, and they were in America for more than two decades, but it was still hard to get a green card. Also Read: Eric Swalwell controversy: Anna Paulina Luna alleges jailtime, wife Brittany Watt maintains silence

Vance responded to the woman, acknowledging that there was a lot of fraud in the H1B system, but believes that “there are people who have come to the United States in the past who have enriched this country.” He continued, “I'm married to the daughter of immigrants from India. And, you know, I love my in-laws. They're great people, and they have been great contributors to the United States of America.” "But I also think when you become an American citizen, whether your family is nine generations of lineage or whether your family has fewer generations of lineage in the United States, one responsibility we must expect of citizens, and it is always hard to talk in specifics about your situation because I do not know about it, but one obligation of citizens is you have to think about the best interests of the country and not the one you came from beforehand, and not any, any group you came from. You have got to think of yourself as an American,” said Vance. The student was expressing frustration that it has been "really hard" to secure permanent residency, and despite paying everything like an ordinary citizen, they could not fulfil the “American Dream”. Vance's response did not explicitly mention what the Trump administration was doing or planned to do to fix the US immigration system. Vance avoided addressing any administrative steps taken by his government and pivoted to an ideological theme of “America First”. Vance had been known for his vocal opposition to H-1 B visas; he accused corporations of using these visas to hire cheap labour under the guise of hiring geniuses.

US Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday (April 14) acknowledged the longstanding mistrust between Washington and Tehran, emphasizing that it cannot be resolved quickly. However, he expressed optimism, noting that Iranian negotiators appeared open to reaching an agreement and that he felt “very good about where we are.” Speaking at a Turning Point USA event, Vance said, “There is a lot of, of course, ‌mistrust between Iran and the United States of America. US Vice President JD Vance is facing a sharp decline in public approval, with recent polling suggesting his ratings have hit historic lows for someone in his position at this stage. The numbers reflect growing challenges for the administration as political pressures mount ahead of key electoral cycles. Analysts say the dip highlights shifting public sentiment and could have wider implications for the political landscape.

With no clarity yet over a potential middle ground, all eyes are on the high-stakes U.S-Iran talks likely to commence on Saturday. While U.S. Vice President JD Vance warned Iran not to 'play', Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf issued two pre-conditions for commencing negotiations. Pakistan's role is also under the scanner as it is hosting a high-ranking U.S. official like JD Vance after a gap of 15 years.

JD Vance Warns, Iran Raises Stakes as 'Nervous' Pakistan Hosts Talks

JD Vance departed for Pakistan to engage in high-stakes peace talks with Iran, expressing cautious optimism ahead of negotiations. He stated the team expects a positive outcome if Iran approaches discussions in good faith and with openness. However, Vance wared that any attempt to mislead or stall would be firmly rejected by the U.S. delegation. Emphasizing clear directives from the President, he noted the negotiating team is prepared, disciplined, and focused on securing meaningful progress while protecting American interests.

Hungary Elections: US Vice President JD Vance Rallies for Hungary PM Viktor Orban

Soon after the deadly Israeli operation in September 2024 that triggered explosions in thousands of Hezbollah pagers, Hungary’s government quietly offered assistance to Iran, the militant group’s primary backer. According to a Hungarian government transcript of a September 30 phone call, obtained and authenticated by a Western intelligence service, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto assured his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, of full cooperation. “Our secret service has already contacted your services, and we will share all the information we have gathered during the investigation,” Szijjarto said. “Every possible document will be shared with your services.” At the time, Hungary drew attention because the pagers carried the branding of a Taiwanese firm that claimed the devices were manufactured under license by a Hungarian company. Szijjarto stressed to Iran that Hungary had no involvement in Sept 17 attack in Lebanon, which killed 12 people and injured around 2,800, and insisted the devices were never produced in Hungary. Despite these assurances, the call raises questions about Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s relationship with Iran, particularly as the United States remains in conflict with Tehran while simultaneously supporting Orban politically. As President Donald Trump's deadline approaches, media reports suggest a last-ditch effort by mediators for a 45-day ceasefire. Pakistan has reportedly proposed a two-stage plan to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The framework involves an immediate ceasefire followed by a final agreement within 15 to 20 days. Under the proposal, Iran would forego nuclear weapons in exchange for sanctions relief and access to frozen funds. Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir reportedly held talks with US Vice President J.D. Vance, US envoy Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to coordinate the plan.
