Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti hit out at Pakistan on Friday for continuously violating the ceasefire along the International border in the state.

She said she had expected that Pakistan would not indulge in ceasefire violation during the month of Ramzan.

She said,&nbsp;"All countries are coming together to achieve peace. But, I don't know when we (India and Pakistan) will achieve peace. We are working on forming an exclusive Border battalion in which people living closer to border areas will be included".&nbsp;

Over thousands of people across the International border in Jammu and Kashmir moved out of&nbsp;their homes in the last few days to escape heavy shelling by the Pakistan forces.

The settlements along the LOC has come to a standstill after the migration of the people from there.&nbsp;

"Arnia town is empty as most of its population has migrated. They have shifted either to their relatives or to shelter camps set up by the government", Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Jammu, Arun Manhas, told PTI.

In the wake of the Ramzaan, the Home Ministry had suspended any operation by state security forces against the militants.&nbsp;However, the forces had the right to respond to an attack in order to safeguard themselves.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir police along with the army have busted a terrorist hideout in Ramban district's Kalimasta forest area. The forces have also recovered huge stock of arms and ammunition.

J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti slams Pakistan for ceasefire violation

Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra chaired a high-level meeting at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday review important security-related issues for the Amarnath yatra, scheduled to commence on June 28.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General of Police, heads of State and Central Intelligence Agencies, GOC XV Corps, GOC Victor Force, Senior officers of the Central Armed Police Forces, Inspector General of Police Kashmir CEO and Additional CEO of the Shrine Board.

S.P. Pani, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir and Major General J.P. Mathew, GOC, Victor Force, gave a detailed briefing regarding the security environment in the state, while the Governor, who is also the Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, highlighted the need for all concerned agencies to keep a close watch and maintain effective coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Yatra.

The meeting held extensive discussions related to the preparations for meeting unforeseen situations functioning of the Joint Control Rooms (JCRs) at every Yatra Camp deployment of NDRF, SDRF and Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs) of the State Police along with Rescue Teams of various Security Forces at identified locations on both Yatra routes deployment of well equipped Fire Fighting units at pre-determined points installation of X-Ray Baggage Scanning Units, etc.

The Governor also directed officials to ensure widespread publicity of advisories related to safety and security of Yatris, including the cut-off timings, through print and electronic media and to display the same at various public places.

He further directed the Chief Secretary to ensure that the roads from Jammu to Srinagar, Srinagar to Baltal, and Anantnag to Pahalgam are maintained in satisfactory condition for the smooth movement of the pilgrimage. 
The enforcement of regulatory mechanisms like allowing only those pilgrims who possess a valid Yatra Permit to undertake the Yatra on a given day was also stressed upon.

The Shrine Board has also made a provision for an Insurance Cover for all service providers, like pony wallas, labourers, palki wallas, tent and shop owners, who play a very important role in the smooth conduct of the Yatra.

The details of the developmental activities have been covered in detail by all segments of the media in last two days, and these measures will have long term positive effects, more so in Ladakh and Jammu region. But the question whether it will bring peace in Kashmir valley, or otherwise, needs a dispassionate analysis beyond the optics and announcements.

What message does development initiatives convey

Development is a necessity to physically and mentally connect with people in far flung areas and demonstration of India's will to reach out to them. Initiatives like the Zojila tunnel, besides improving connectivity and ease of travel from Kashmir valley to Ladakh, indicate the effort to lift the mental barrier of isolation for people on both sides of Zojila pass. Other projects like ring roads around Srinagar and Jammu will definitely ease the traffic congestion of both cities, and the two power projects on Kishenganga and Pakal Dul will address the needs of the state besides creating surplus power to be put on national grid.

The social messaging of these projects indicates the Indian will of closer social inclusion of people of Jammu and Kashmir. Also, while Prime Minister's decision to attend the closing ceremony of birth centenary of Rinpoche in Leh amused the Buddhist population, the gesture of declaring suspension of combat operations by security forces, and Tarakote Marg and ropeway of Mata Vaishnodevi shrine was welcomed by almost everyone. In a nutshell, the social packaging covers every segment of society of Jammu and Kashmir, and an investment of approximately Rs 25,000 crore will help in changing their economic landscape and connectivity may help in boosting tourism.

Embracing the people of Kashmir: Risk analysis

The recent initiatives aimed to embrace people of Kashmir are noble, but high-risk ideas with rare chance of success. The idea of amnesty to stone pelters has failed, and given a new dimension to the terrorist actions through stone pelting, wherein almost similar damage can be caused to security forces or civilians, with reasonable expectation that they will be left lightly, even if apprehended.

The ideas like ceasefire and declaration of NICO were tried earlier in the year 2000, but failed. The present declaration although is a slightly improved version of the old one, wherein security forces' deployment and intelligence grid is not being disturbed. But they can take retaliatory action, only if militants fire at them. The fact that declaration was rejected by terrorist groups, who intend continuing their actions during the holy month of Ramzan, as well as separatist groups enjoying state protection, means that it is waiting to fail. Let me analyse the possibilities under the present model of NICO:

	<li>The announcement by Kashmiri politicians that the people can peacefully sleep is a misconception, because the militants, especially the foreign ones cause innumerable atrocities on innocent people of Kashmir, but no one lodges complaint/FIR against them, as they know that the entire family will be wiped out. Abu Dujana is a case in point. It is unfortunate that not many politicians of Kashmir criticise or highlight their atrocities, which gives an impression that either they are terrorised or sold out to the adversary propagating proxy war.</li>
	<li>The announcement only restricts security forces, which is demeaning and misplaced, because security forces are not there by choice, but are performing their duty for the nation.</li>
	<li>Under present model of NICO, the militants can move freely, kill some informers and terrorise the rest. The incidents of killing one civilian, looting of bank, and snatching weapons are minor incidents, but can be an indication of testing the waters, as they know that security forces cannot do anything till they actually fire at them.</li>
	<li>Terrorists are free to extort, launder money and muster enough funds for subsequent operations.</li>
	<li>They can carry out recruitment of young boys into their outfit by luring them or terrorising their parents.</li>
	<li>NICO has no connection with the firing from across the border, hence border villages will continue to remain under threat.</li>
	<li>There is no guarantee that militants will behave during Amarnath Yatra with this political overreach, hence all precautions will have to be taken.</li>

Is the prescription suiting the ailment?

The development in Jammu and Kashmir, like any other state, is an encouraging step and will definitely ease lives of our people. But the fact is that the per capita GDP of Kashmir is higher than many states. There are many states in India, which are less developed but have not resorted to firing guns or stone pelting. This indicates that the ailment of Kashmir is not limited to poor infrastructure. The problem of Kashmir has external and internal dimensions, which have to be dealt with together, as they are closely interwoven.

In external dimension, the Pakistan army and ISI are the main players. Their influence and relevance is due to 'Indian threat' and a 'Boiling Kashmir valley', hence a peaceful Kashmir does not suit them. With radicalisation and Wahhabism on the rise, Pakistan has witnessed a change in psyche and ideology. Kashmir remains an obvious target to avenge 1971.

The internal dimension is the perception that separatists are involved in arranging funds and organising protests against the Indian establishment. While the development of Kashmir will reduce the numbers of unemployed youth, the glamour of quick money with minimum efforts and belief in concocted radicalised narrative would need some more efforts.

What should India do?

As the problem has persisted for so many decades, there are no easy answers. As an Indian analyst, let me attempt to suggest some:

	<li>Internally, the decision makers need to have an honest intention to resolve it. The allurement of vote bank politics has to be subordinated to national interest.</li>
	<li>War with Pakistan is not a worthwhile economical option, but India can look at covert options against militants.</li>
	<li>While India expects the entire world to declare Pakistan a terror state, it has not yet scrapped the 'Most Favored Nation' status accorded to its neighbour.</li>
	<li>India should also take up the issue of Baluchistan in all world forums.</li>
</ul>

The development of Jammu and Kashmir and embracing of Kashmiri population is a welcome step on India's part. But amnesty to stone pelters and announcement of NICO (rejected by terrorists and separatists) is marred with danger. Some strategists will read it as a message of peace to Kashmir and the international community, while others may call it as a message of a weak state, running out of options. This will invite criticism, should this initiative fail. Protection and mercy on separatists needs to be stopped if the decision makers are really interested in having peace in Kashmir.

A major fire broke out on Wednesday evening in Jammu and Kashmir's Trikuta Hills in Katra district.&nbsp;

Fire tenders were trying to contain the fire while two Mi-17s were put on standby for help in the case of fire going unruly.

According to the Indian Air Force, a light utility helicopter of Indian Air Force was sent to the recce in Trikuta Hills. The fire was successfully doused by the authorities.&nbsp;

The Jammu and Kashmir government has banned begging at public and religious places here and directed the police to arrest the offenders.

The order, issued by Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah yesterday, said Srinagar being the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir holds a great importance in the socio-economic landscape of the state and so it is contingent upon the administration to take all measures necessary to make the district more citizen-friendly and to prevent public nuisance at all costs.&nbsp

"Begging being an offence under the Act (Jammu and Kashmir Prevention of Beggary Act I960), it is imperative that strict necessary action under law be initiated against the offenders," it stated.

The deputy commissioner said, "It has been observed that off late there is a proliferation of beggars on the streets of Srinagar which creates massive nuisance for the general public."

The order stated any person found soliciting alms in a public place, or in or about a mosque, temple or other place of public worship, whether or not under any pretence and entering on any private premises for the purpose of soliciting alms shall be immediately arrested under Section 4 of the Jammu and Kashmir Prevention of Beggary Act, 1960 read with Section 61 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Svt 1989.

Those exposing or exhibiting with the object of obtaining or extorting alms, any sore, wound, injury, deformity or disease whether of a human being or an animal shall also be arrested, it said.

"Also, any person found having no visible means of subsistence and wandering about or remaining in any public place or in a temple, mosque or other place of public worship in such condition or manner as makes it like that the person doing so exists by soliciting alms or allowing himself to be used as an exhibit for the purpose of soliciting alms, does not include soliciting money or fee or gift for a purpose authorized by law or authorized in the prescribed manner by the District Magistrate, shall also be arrested," it read.&nbsp

The deputy commissioner directed senior superintendents of police, Srinagar and Budgam, to implement the order in letter and spirit and report the number of such arrests on daily basis.&nbsp

Jammu and Kashmir: Heavy shelling by Pakistan in Hiranagar kills one, two wounded

Pakistani troops on Tuesday again resorted to unprovoked firing along the&nbsp;Line of Control&nbsp;in&nbsp;Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;

The&nbsp;Pakistani forces violated the&nbsp;ceasefire&nbsp;in Arnia sector, according to sources.

Meanwhile, taking the safety measures, residents of the sector migrated to safer places on Monday.

The locals had arranged food for those affected by firing from the other side of the border.

Ceasefire violated in J&K's Arnia sector

Hours after "pleading" with the BSF to stop firing, the Pakistani forces again conducted unprovoked firing and shelling along the International border in Jammu and Kashmir on the intervening night of May 20-21.

The forces opened fire on the Indian side at around 10:30 pm in J&K's&nbsp;Arnia&nbsp;and Ramgarh sector of Samba.

The shelling was followed by mortar firing targetting the forward posts of the BSF and villages.

The Pak army's plea came after one of its soldiers succumbed to injuries after he was hit by heavy artillery from across the border.&nbsp;

There was no casualty reported as yet.

A BSF spokesperson said on Saturday,"(Pakistan) Rangers called up the Jammu BSF formation today and beseeched to stop firing".

"The befitting reply by the BSF units to the unprovoked shelling and firing across the IB by the Pakistani forces has forced them to plead for a ceasefire," a senior official said.

The firing from the Pakistani side has come amid the government's&nbsp;suspension of operations against militants in Jammu and Kashmir during the month of Ramzan.

The Union Ministry's order which will continue until June 16 has asked the&nbsp;security forces not to conduct operations during the month of Ramzan in J&K.

The forces, however, have the right to retaliate if attacked or to safeguard the lives of innocent people.&nbsp;

"Catch them alive" is the new mantra in Jammu and Kashmir as security forces, which have killed over 70 terrorists in the last seven months, shift gear to focus on finding new recruits and motivating them to return to their families, senior officials said.

The strategy of police and security agencies is to cut the "umbilical cord" by smashing the overground worker network, which is instrumental in radicalising youth and pushing them to jihad, the officials said.

"Our effort is to catch them alive and understand their grievances. After all, a 15 or 16 year old boy can't be brainwashed to the extent that he would like to be killed in a gunfight. There has to be a counter-narrative," said a senior official engaged in counter-insurgency operations.

In the run-up to the Centre asking security forces not to launch operations during Ramzan, there was need to eliminate hardcore terrorists like Saddam Paddar, Esa Fazili and Sameer Tiger as they were the brains behind the fresh influx of cadres for Pakistan-based terrorist groups Lashker-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen, officials said.

After the elimination of several top leaders, efforts are now on to change the script.

Operations based on specific intelligence inputs will continue but there will also be increasing emphasis on catching newly-recruited terrorists alive, they said.

"We have got indication from our field intelligence that many desire to return. Some parents have also approached us and we have no hesitation in helping them resume their normal life and education at the earliest," a senior police official said.

Many officials, including those from intelligence agencies, believe the present cessation of hostilities may provide the much needed window to convince parents to woo their wards back to textbooks.

"In the last seven months, four new recruits have been arrested while one returned," said Inspector General of Police (Kashmir range) Swayam Prakash Pani, who has been closely watching the situation in the Valley and is using his experience as deputy inspector general in south Kashmir to tackle militancy.

The aim, he said, is to create a conducive atmosphere so that people can get over the cycle of violence.

"My director general of police (S P Vaid) has also appealed to misguided youths and so I am asking them to return to their families," Pani said.

Several people from various parts of the Valley have been booked in the last seven months. They were entrusted with the indoctrination of young minds and motivating them to pick up arms, officials said.

The identification of these overground workers is necessary before a crackdown on the militant top brass, they explained.&nbsp

"The militants also know that their basic structure of the overground network, which used to facilitate their movement from one place to another, has been hit. You can't be holed up at one place for days together," an official said.

The multi-pronged strategy -- including encounters with militants, fighting their overground workers in courts and smashing their network of sympathisers -- has also brought down the number of videos on social media showing groups of militants roaming freely in the orchards and forests of Tral, Shopian and Kulgam in South Kashmir.

The trend is now a single militant posing in a closed room with a rifle so the location can't be identified, an official said.

Long-standing disputes like Kashmir should be resolved: Pakistan's Ambassador to UN

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit, separatist leaders Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Shah Geelani were put under house arrest on Saturday as restrictions were imposed in parts of the city following their call to march towards Lal Chowk.

The police reached the Hyderpora residence of Geelani and Naseem Bagh area residence of Farooq and conveyed to them the decision of the Jammu and Kashmir authorities of placing them under house arrest as a precautionary measure, officials said.

"As the authoritarian rulers once again belie any claim to democracy by imposing #HouseArrests #Curfew #Restrictions #Barricades #Blockades closure of educational institutions on the visit of Indian PM to valley, I will peacefully march towards #LalChowk at 11 am," Farooq tweeted this morning.

The separatists had given a call for a march to Lal Chowk, located in the heart of the city, to protest against the alleged violence by security forces in the valley.

During his Friday sermons, Farooq had said that the one-month suspension of anti-militancy operations in the Valley was not enough.&nbsp

He had urged the Centre to revoke draconian laws such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act and the Public Safety Act besides initiating a dialogue process with Pakistan and the people of Kashmir, especially the separatist groups.

Lal Chowk has been barricaded and all entry points sealed to prevent people from gathering in the area, the officials said.

Tight security measures were placed in the entire city last night in the wake of the prime minister's arrival in Srinagar this afternoon.

Restrictions were imposed in downtown areas and vehicular movement, other than that of tourists, was bare minimum.

The roads wore a deserted look as people preferred to remain indoors.

A three-tier security ring has been thrown around the city ahead of Modi's visit and all roads leading to the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre were blocked for any vehicular movement.

According to the traffic police advisory, all roads leading to the venue would be closed until Sunday afternoon until the prime minister is in the city.&nbsp

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Leh on Saturday morning on his day-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir, the first after the Centre announced the suspension of operations against terror groups during the holy month of Ramzan.

This is his second visit to Leh, a Himalayan town sharing the border with Pakistan and China and located 450 km north of the state's summer capital city of Srinagar. He had visited here on August 12, 2014, and inaugurated a hydel power project.

After reaching the airport, the prime minister stopped on the road and met people who had come to welcome him.&nbsp

"I thank the wonderful people of Leh for the warm welcome. I am delighted to be here,"&nbsphe tweeted

The prime minister will participate in the closing ceremony of the 100th birth anniversary of the 19th Kushak Bakula Rinpoche.

Bakula was seen as the force behind several political agitations in the region and was its voice all over the world. He was born in Matho on May 21, 1917, and educated at Geshes, Lhasa (Tibet). A scholar of the Mahayana school of Buddhism, he was head priest of the Spituk Gompa. He died in 2003.&nbsp

Bakula Rinpoche served the state and nation as he was elected as the member of legislative assembly of Jammu and Kashmir in 1951. He became a minister in the then state government.&nbsp

He was elected as Member of Parliament representing Ladakh for two consecutive terms -- 1967 and 1971. During 1962 Sino-Indian war, he had allowed the Army to convert a section of his Pethub Monastery into a makeshift military hospital.&nbsp

In 1989, he was appointed as India's ambassador to Mongolia which made him the first and only Monk diplomat in the world.&nbsp

Over a period of ten years, he helped reopen ancient monasteries, organise Buddhist peace conferences and re-established Buddhism. Under his guidance, Pethub Monastery and Dechen Ling Nunnery in Ulaanbaatar developed into important centres of learning for the Mongolian Buddhists.&nbsp

His services in Mongolia were deeply appreciated and he is fondly remembered as 'Elchin Bagsh' (ambassador-teacher). In 2001, he was conferred the Polar Star award, Mongolia's second-highest civilian award. The Pethub Stangey Choskhor Ling Monastery was also built at Ulaanbaatar.

Former governor S K Sinha had renamed Leh airport as Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport as his Spituk Monastery was in the vicinity of the airfield.

At the same event, Modi will unveil a plaque to mark the commencement of work on the Zojila tunnel, which will provide all-weather connectivity to this region.

The 14 km tunnel will be country's longest road tunnel and Asia's longest bi-directional tunnel.&nbsp

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the prime minister, had approved the construction, operation and maintenance of this tunnel between Baltal and Minamarg, on the Srinagar-Leh section at a total cost of Rs 6,800 crore earlier this year.&nbsp

The construction of this tunnel will provide all-weather connectivity between Srinagar, Kargil and Leh and will lead to all-round economic and socio-cultural integration of these regions.

The road remains cut off from November to March due to heavy snowfall, landslides and avalanches. Normally, it takes around four hours to drive through the mountainous 9 km through Zoji La but after the construction of tunnel, which is likely to be completed in 2026, it will take only 15 minutes.&nbsp

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Leh on Saturday morning on his day-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir, the first after the Centre announced the suspension of operations against terror groups during the holy month of Ramzan. This is his second visit to Leh, a Himalayan town sharing the border with Pakistan and China and located 450 km north of the state's summer capital city of Srinagar. He had visited here on August 12, 2014, and inaugurated a hydel power project. After reaching the airport, the prime minister stopped on the road and met people who had come to welcome him. "I thank the wonderful people of Leh for the warm welcome. I am delighted to be here,"&nbsphe tweeted The prime minister will participate in the closing ceremony of the 100th birth anniversary of the 19th Kushak Bakula Rinpoche. Bakula was seen as the force behind several political agitations in the region and was its voice all over the world. He was born in Matho on May 21, 1917, and educated at Geshes, Lhasa (Tibet). A scholar of the Mahayana school of Buddhism, he was head priest of the Spituk Gompa. He died in 2003. Bakula Rinpoche served the state and nation as he was elected as the member of legislative assembly of Jammu and Kashmir in 1951. He became a minister in the then state government. He was elected as Member of Parliament representing Ladakh for two consecutive terms -- 1967 and 1971. During 1962 Sino-Indian war, he had allowed the Army to convert a section of his Pethub Monastery into a makeshift military hospital. In 1989, he was appointed as India's ambassador to Mongolia which made him the first and only Monk diplomat in the world. Over a period of ten years, he helped reopen ancient monasteries, organise Buddhist peace conferences and re-established Buddhism. Under his guidance, Pethub Monastery and Dechen Ling Nunnery in Ulaanbaatar developed into important centres of learning for the Mongolian Buddhists. His services in Mongolia were deeply appreciated and he is fondly remembered as 'Elchin Bagsh' (ambassador-teacher). In 2001, he was conferred the Polar Star award, Mongolia's second-highest civilian award. The Pethub Stangey Choskhor Ling Monastery was also built at Ulaanbaatar. Former governor S K Sinha had renamed Leh airport as Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport as his Spituk Monastery was in the vicinity of the airfield. At the same event, Modi will unveil a plaque to mark the commencement of work on the Zojila tunnel, which will provide all-weather connectivity to this region. The 14 km tunnel will be country's longest road tunnel and Asia's longest bi-directional tunnel. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the prime minister, had approved the construction, operation and maintenance of this tunnel between Baltal and Minamarg, on the Srinagar-Leh section at a total cost of Rs 6,800 crore earlier this year. The construction of this tunnel will provide all-weather connectivity between Srinagar, Kargil and Leh and will lead to all-round economic and socio-cultural integration of these regions. The road remains cut off from November to March due to heavy snowfall, landslides and avalanches. Normally, it takes around four hours to drive through the mountainous 9 km through Zoji La but after the construction of tunnel, which is likely to be completed in 2026, it will take only 15 minutes.

As you come here tomorrow, allow us Kashmiris to peacefully gather at Lal Chowk so that you hear our 'Mann ki baat'! It's just three words-- Resolve Kashmir Dispute".

The Joint Resistance Leadership comprises Mirwaiz, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mohammad Yasin Malik had said, "India will try to use the visit of its prime minister to mislead the world community and its own people by claiming that people of Jammu and Kashmir are happy being part of India. The ground reality is that the situation in the state is like hell".

The separatist leaders were put under house arrest ahead of PM Modi's visit to the state as&nbsp;restrictions were imposed in parts of the city following their call to march towards Lal Chowk.

The hydroelectric plant is an&nbsp;$864 million dam located 5 km north of Bandipore in Jammu and Kashmir.

The 330 MW Hydroelectricity plant is part of a run-of-the-river hydroelectric scheme that is designed to divert water from the Kishanganga River in Srinagar to a power plant in the Jhelum River basin.

The Prime Minister, who is on his first visit to the state after announcing the suspension of anti-militancy operations during holy month of Ramzan, said there are foreign powers at play in the state which do not want development of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Every stone, every weapon, raised by misguided youths destabilises their own Jammu and Kashmir. The state will have to come out of this atmosphere of instability," he said.

Modi said the youths need to join the mainstream development of India and of Kashmir for their future and that of coming generation.

He said the central and the state government have policy, intent and capability to take decisions to solve development issues of the state.

"I would urge everyone to channelise their energies in the development of the state. The solution to every problem is only development, development, development," he said.

The prime minister dedicated to the nation the 330-MW Kishenganga Power Project constructed in the Gurez area of Kashmir.

Modi also laid the foundation stone for the Srinagar Ring Road at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) Srinagar.

The 42.1-Km, four-lane Srinagar Ring Road will link Galandar in West Srinagar to Sumbal in Badnipora district.

The Ring Road in Srinagar is aimed at reducing traffic congestion in these cities and making road travel safer, faster, more convenient and more environment-friendly.

"Not a single year has passed since I took over as the prime minister when I did not visit the state," he said.

The Prime Minister said this month is to remember Prophet Mohammad's teaching and message.

"The lessons of equality and brotherhood from his life can take country and the world forward in true sense," he said.

The Prime Minister said it was a happy coincidence that the ceremony for handing over the project is taking place in the month of Ramzan.

"The project will not only provide free but also sufficient power to the state. A large portion of power requirements of the state are supplied from other parts of the country. This 330 MW project will solve the shortage of power issue to a considerable extent," he said.

The Prime Minister said the government is trying to provide power to every house in the state under the Saubhagya scheme.

He said an important part of Jammu and Kashmir's development is tourism but it cannot run on old methods.

"The tourists now want facilities. They do not want to be stuck in narrow lanes for hours. They want continuous power supply, they want hygiene. Better air connectivity," he said, adding that the government was working for a modern ecosystem that is required for the development of tourism.

"There will be an increase in tourists in J and K with stronger ecosystem. The youths of the state will get new employment opportunity with it," he said.
