After 'good response', government may extend suspension of operation in J&K beyond Ramzan
Story highlights
Nearly a week after announcing suspension of operation by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir(J&K), sources in the government say they may consider extending the suspension even after Ramzan.
On May 16, the Centre had asked security forces in J&K to suspend operation for a month due to the holy month of Ramzan after CM Mehbooba Mufti and other political parties pushed for a "suspended peace".
Home minister Rajnath Singh had later said the Centre is suspending operation and informed J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti who welcomed the move.

“The government wants that during the ensuing month of Ramzan, no section of society and in particular, the Muslim community should face any difficulty," the government had said while declaring a "temporary ceasefire".
