<p>Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal has revealed the reason behind their marquee player Rishabh Pant's exit from the team. <p>As for the reason behind not retaining Pant, Jindal noted: "I think we were very aligned as an ownership group. It was a collective decision that was taken. We had a lot of discussions with Rishabh. There were things that we expected of Rishabh that we did not get last season or in the previous seasons and we gave him honest feedback on that," Parth said.</p>

<p>"We both, GMR, JSW, we are one family. We are one, we are united and it was a decision we took. We gave him feedback. Feedback was not taken as we expected it to be taken. He took an emotional call. He has also grown up in this franchise and he was a young boy when he started," he added.</p>

<p>The batter, however, went on to become the costliest buy in IPL history after being acquired by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crore ($3.21 million). While DC tried to use Right-to-Match (RTM) option to retain the southpaw, the price became too steep for them.</p>

<p>The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction was done over two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with all the 10 franchises vying with each other to fill up 246 possible slots out of a total of 578 registered players.</p>

<p>Punjab Kings (PBKS) entered the auction with the highest purse and made a huge buy in Shreyas Iyer for INR 26.75 crore (above $3 million) while Rishabh Pant went to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crore (approx $3.1 million).</p>

He has still got a very good skillset; his numbers are fantastic. He's obviously towards the latter part of his career, but the experience he brings, he's handy with the bat, and we think we can use him in a number of ways.</p>

<p>"The Noor Ahmad pick was looking more at the middle [overs] to attack. So, if we do get turning conditions, then we've got an opportunity to keep taking wickets. We've got [Matheesha] Pathirana at the end, which is the death aspect,” the coach noted.</p>

IPL 2025 mega auction: From Rishabh Pant to Jos Buttler - list of players sold on day 1

<p>Veteran Australian batter David Warner went unsold on the first day of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) mega auction as franchises were reluctant to invest in him. Warner, having led SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) to the IPL title in 2016, was one of the big names to be ignored by the franchises. Despite this, the 38-year-old will retain hopes for a second day in case franchises give a second thought to him.</p>

<h2><strong>Warner goes unsold</strong></h2>

<p>One of the best batters of his generation, Warner first tasted IPL cricket in 2009 when he was bought by the Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils). He represented the side until 2013 before switching to SRH, where he enjoyed big success. He played for the side until 2021, helping the side win the IPL 2016 and showing his leadership qualities in the side.</p>

<p>He has scored 6565 runs in 184 matches and smashed 62 fifties in his 16 seasons in the biggest league in the world. Warner is also the highest-scoring foreign player in IPL history but is unlikely to play for any side in the IPL 2025.</p>

<h2>IPL 2025 auctions date out</h2>

<p>With the retention window closing on October 31, all eyes were on the auction dates as 10 franchises now prepare to assemble the best possible squads in the league. A total of 46 players were retained by 10 franchises during the retention window on October 31, with top names once again avoiding the auctions. It will be a two-day process during which all 10 franchises will try to splash the cash for some of the big names in the market.</p>

<p>Last year, the auctions were held in Dubai, where Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc were top players to pull off big deals.</p>

<p>During the retention window, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, SunRisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants retained five players while Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals used all six retention cards. Punjab Kings retained the least number of players with two and have a purse of more than ₹1 billion ($10 million) to spend in the auctions.</p>
