The old Taiwanese couple own a laundromat together Houli District, Taichung City, in central Taiwan. The coupe has owned the laundromat for the past 70 years. In these past 70 years, there have been several instances where people forgot their clothes in the shop and did not come to collect the clothes back. This gave their grandson, Reef Chang, an idea. To save his grandparents from boredom, he convinced them to wear the hundreds of discarded clothes and model for pictures, just for fun. The old couple became Insta-famous withing days.
Three men have been arrested in Iran on suspicion of trying to sell two babies on Instagram, semi-official ISNA news agency reported Thursday.

A 20-day-old baby and a two-month-old child were rescued from the online infant-selling ring, the news agency said.

Tehran Police Chief Hossein Rahimi said a third baby has been identified but is yet to be found, ISNA reported.

The babies had already been bought from "poor families" for up to $500 and were being resold for between $2,000 and $2,500.

One of those arrested allegedly said he was "getting babies from poor families" and "handing them over to families who could provide a better future".

Brig-Gen Rahimi told local media that police officers had been alerted to "ads on Instagram for selling babies".

The officers uncovered "10 to 15 such pages" on the photo-sharing service and found the two babies with the three men who were arrested, he said. The babies were handed over to social services.

The suspects claimed that they had bought the babies from poor families for a "small fee", according to the general.

In a video published by the Young Journalists' Club news agency, one of the men said: "This would have helped these babies have a better future."

This is not the first such case uncovered by the authorities in Iran.

Earlier this year, police in the province of Gorgan said they had arrested four women and a man who had allegedly been finding poor pregnant women and paying their hospital expenses, then taking away their babies after they gave birth.

In 2016, then Vice-President for Family and Women's Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi expressed concern over what she said was the "high number" of expectant mothers selling their babies.

She said women were being forced to do so by "a variety of factors", including poverty, drug addiction, child marriage and homelessness.

A spokesperson for Facebook, which owns Instagram said that the company was investigating. "We do not allow content or behaviour on Instagram that may lead to human exploitation, which includes the sale of children for illegal adoption. Also read| Instagram in trouble as nearly 50 million users' data gets leaked online The babies had already been bought from "poor families" for up to $500 and were being resold for between $2,000 and $2,500. One of those arrested allegedly said he was "getting babies from poor families" and "handing them over to families who could provide a better future". Brig-Gen Rahimi told local media that police officers had been alerted to "ads on Instagram for selling babies". Also read| Instagram will overtake Twitter as source of news: Study The officers uncovered "10 to 15 such pages" on the photo-sharing service and found the two babies with the three men who were arrested, he said. The babies were handed over to social services. The suspects claimed that they had bought the babies from poor families for a "small fee", according to the general. In a video published by the Young Journalists' Club news agency, one of the men said: "This would have helped these babies have a better future." This is not the first such case uncovered by the authorities in Iran. We're aware of reports of this activity, and we're continuing to investigate," the statement said.
Photo-sharing app Instagram is set to overtake Twitter as a news source, research suggests.

The 2020 Reuters Institute Digital News report found the use of Instagram for news had doubled since 2018.

The trend is strongest among young people. Nearly a quarter of 18 to 24-year-olds used Instagram as a source of news about coronavirus as per the research. But social media platforms were also among the least-trusted sources.

Just 26 per cent of people said they trusted social media as a source of information about the virus. A similar percentage said they trusted news that had been shared via chat apps such as Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.

National governments and news organisations, by contrast, were both trusted by about 59 per cent of respondents.

Instagram is now used by more than a third of all people who answered the survey, and two-thirds of under-25s. And 11 per cent use it for news, putting it just one point behind Twitter.

"Instagram's become very popular with younger people", said Nic Newman, lead author of the report. "They really respond well to stories that are told simply and well with visual images".

Stand-out visual stories in recent months have helped, climate change, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the coronavirus have all seen massive engagement on the platform.

"It's not that one necessarily replaces the other," Newman said. "They might use Facebook and Instagram, or might use Twitter and Instagram."

Instagram is owned by Facebook, which now reaches 85 per cent of people each week. The company's dominance in how stories are being told "remains incredibly important", he added. The firm also owns WhatsApp.

The coronavirus pandemic also seems to have offered a temporary reprieve to a downward trend in how much news organisations are trusted.

Only 38 per cent of people said they trusted the news most of the time. Less than half - 46 per cent - said they trusted their favoured news source.

In total, 40 countries were surveyed. Only in six of them did a majority say they could trust "most of the news most of the time".

The case was particularly poor in the UK, where only 28 per cent of respondents backed the statement. That figure was 12 percentage points lower than the nation's response in the 2019 report.

That plummet in confidence was only matched by Chile and Hong Kong, which have both seen violent street protests - and still rank more highly than the UK, on 30 per cent each.

But things changed substantially once the coronavirus crisis hit.

A slightly differently worded question in April - about the level of trust in information about the coronavirus - saw news organisations surge to a 59 per cent trust rating, on a par with national governments.

The report's authors speculate the identical levels of trust as a result of news organisations amplifying public health advice.

But that sudden high has already started to fall.

"What we're seeing is relatively high levels of trust - at the time of the lockdowns - in the media and national governments. But we have some polling since then, which shows that trust in the media fell 11 percentage points between April and May," Newman said.

While not officially part of the report, that recent polling suggests that the "moment of national unity" may have passed.

Amid all this analysis of trust issues, most people - what the report calls the "silent majority" - prefer what they consider "objective" news.

The authors of the report had not asked this question since 2013, since when the use of opinion and open stances on news reporting has grown.

In nine countries where this was explored, all said they preferred news from sources with "no point of view".

The strongest preference was in Germany, Japan, the UK and Denmark. These are "all countries with strong and independent public broadcasters", the report noted.

In contrast, the US - "where both politics and the media have become increasingly partisan over the years" - many more people said they prefer news which shares their point of view.

And these family movie nights have inspired us to start sharing some of our favorite classics with all of you. For the next few weeks we’re going to post a #MovieoftheWeek, the movies that had the greatest influence on us growing up. The movies that made us want to be directors. We will announce a movie every Friday, and then go LIVE the FOLLOWING Friday to discuss that movie, while taking questions from all of you. So you’ll have one week to watch each film. Our FRIDAY IG LIVES will include special guests, and our favorite pizzas from some beloved local restaurants. We love movies and we love pizza, so let’s just call it #RussoBrosPizzaFilmSchool. Our first #MovieoftheWeek is LA HAINE, directed by Mathieu Kassovitz (it’s available on both Amazon Prime Video and iTunes Movies). After you’ve watched the film, be sure to tune in to our IG LIVE at 5pm PST next FRIDAY (05/15) with our special guest, award-winning film critic and commentator Pete Hammond. Who’s enrolling? (Also, a special shout out to Joe’s son, Basil, for editing the logo).

If you have been a fan of the Russo brothers and their style of filmmaking, then here's a chance to interact with them live amid lockdown. Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of 'Avengers: Endgame' and many more films are going to host a series of Instagram live sessions where they will give movie recommendations and discuss cinema. "Like a lot of you, our families have been watching movies together during quarantine," a post on their Instagram handle read. "And these family movie nights have inspired us to start sharing some of our favorite classics with all of you. For the next few weeks, we’re going to post a #MovieoftheWeek, the movies that had the greatest influence on us growing up. The movies that made us want to be directors," the post further read. This will be a weekly affair, as the post suggested and the two brothers will conduct live sessions on Fridays. They will also take questions from viewers logged into the live presentation, making it an interactive experience. Titled Pizza Film School, the brothers state that the sessions will include plenty of pizza. The Russo Brothers introduce a new live series on Instagram for fans called 'Pizza Film School'

If you announce it on Instagram, we consider it as an official announcement. 'Knives Out' actress Ana De Armas celebrated her 32nd birthday and shared multiple pictures of the celebration on Instagram- many of them included actor Ben Affleck.

This is the first time that the actress has posted images with Affleck- making her relationship official on social media.

Rumours of the two dating have been doing the rounds for some time now.

She shared nine photos, including two of herself and Affleck holding onto each other.

"Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes and love," the actress wrote in the caption, which she also repeated in Spanish. "Cheers to another great year."

But a user named Jane Manchun Wong discovered this feature first after testing it on her account. Wong shared the this feature on her Twitter account. Instagram confirms via @InstagramComms that they're working on account memorialization https://t.co/BgWKlH7njg — Jane Manchun Wong (@wongmjane) April 22, 2020 × A spokesperson of Instagram revealed: "We've been working on these updates for some time, though this is one — among others — that we've accelerated in light of COVID-19 to help support our community during a difficult time." The family of a deceased user can fill up a form where they will have to provide necessary proof and documents. After memorialising the account, there will be no changes in the account but a 'Remembering' sign will appear above the profile picture of the user. The feature cannot be used on public accounts and memorialised accounts don't appear in public spaces, like people's Explore section.

Hollywood star couple Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have kept their relationship low-key right from the beginning. The pair started dating in 2011 and have two kids together but seldom are they spotted together on the red carpet.

Longoria also keeps her private life away from social media. Recently when the actress shared a picture of artwork by René Magritte, a fan pointed out that how she never posts pictures with her family. The actress replied to him by commenting, " I have always had a clear boundary when it comes to my man and my kids. I'll talk about them of course, with limits, but I won't post pictures of our daily life."

She also spoke about her kids and said, "And since my children are still so little and don't understand what posting their image really means, I don't have their consent. And I won't post their pictures until they're old enough to give me their consent."

Later she posted a drawing that her child had made of her and captioned it as, "This is me. By my kid. It’s pretty accurate. No I haven’t become a master baker or a good cook during quarantine. I haven’t seen a gym in two months. I haven’t written a novella. I’ve just been trying to be a fun mom and not lose my marbles. sending so much love out there.
In the times of coronavirus pandemic, we are seeing unusual things happening, from digital marriages to people exercising in groups with the help of video chat. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri is also following this trend or rather setting a new trend as he is working from his garage for carrying out his work-related activities.

Interestingly, a lot of Instagram users post stuff on the platform to share their travel experiences, with images and videos of happening locations, exotic food outlets and fun activities. However, now the CEO himself is urging people to stay at home.

Last week, Instagram also launched "Stay at Home" tab in the stories section for people to share their experiences of isolation, a measure adopted worldwide to control the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. Mosseri said that the feature was an instant hit with the users as in hours after launching it got a massive response which nearly crashed the site.

"Having our workforce, particularly our moderators, work from home, is creating all sort of challenges that we need to work through," Mosseri told CNN Business over Skype on Tuesday.

"Just generally, the amount of output we should be able to expect on a per person basis is just going to go down," the CEO said.

"There is no way around that, which is why it is so important we get creative and make sure that we continue to make sure we keep people stay safe on the platform."

He said that Instagram still needs to stay ahead on a challenge, including that of content, child exploitation, and terrorism.

In the United States, Facebook and Instagram were amongst the earliest organisations that asked their employees to work from home before it became mandatory in most of the states of the country.

"We need to take care of our people if we are going to be able to help address the crisis and live up to our responsibility," Mosseri said.

"Just generally, the amount of output we should be able to expect on a per person basis is just going to go down," the CEO said. "There is no way around that, which is why it is so important we get creative and make sure that we continue to make sure we keep people stay safe on the platform." He said that Instagram still needs to stay ahead on a challenge, including that of content, child exploitation, and terrorism. In the United States, Facebook and Instagram were amongst the earliest organisations that asked their employees to work from home before it became mandatory in most of the states of the country. "We need to take care of our people if we are going to be able to help address the crisis and live up to our responsibility," Mosseri said.
