<h2><strong>One arrested, three detained</strong></h2>

<p>Bijnor police chief Neeraj Kumar Jadaun called on the local police to take action, soon after the video of the incident went viral. The local police identified the victims and lodged a First Information Report (FIR).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The incident had taken place in the Dhampur police station area where the cops later identified and detained those involved.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Through innumerable campaigns and commuter awareness drives we have tried to raise awareness among passengers requesting them not to make reels or indulge in any activity which causes inconvenience to fellow commuters…We also request fellow passengers to inform us immediately the moment they see such shoots being conducted,” the statement added.</p>

<p>“DMRC is absolutely not in favour of such reels being made on its premises,” it further read.</p>

<p>A video circulating on social media showed two girls seated on the floor inside a metro, gleefully applying Holi colours to each other. Clad in traditional Indian attire - one in a white saree and the other in a white 'salwar kameez' - are seen engaged in playful gestures and flashing smiles. The footage also showed them gently rubbing their faces together, accompanied by the song 'Ang Laga De' from the movie 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela' playing in the background.</p>

<h2><strong>Elaborate arrangements made for Lathmar Holi</strong></h2>

<p>Meanwhile, the officials on Sunday said that elaborate arrangements were made for Lathmar Holi of Barsana slated for Monday (March 18).</p>

<p>“Without compromising security, every effort will be made to ensure inconvenience-free watching of Lathmar Holi and Rangotsava in Barsana. The festival gives a glimpse of fair in Barsana as several lakh Holi lovers, including international tourists, watch this rare festival,” District Magistrate Shailendra Singh said.</p>

<p>The entire area set for the festive celebrations, as per the officials, was divided into five zones and 12 sectors.</p>

<p>In order to avoid traffic congestion during the Holi celebrations, the authorities had put in place 78 barriers and 45 parking slots in Barsana.</p>

<p>Whereas, 29 barriers and 12 parkings were set up in Nandgaon.</p>

<p>Lathmar Holi in Barsana and Nandgaon would be played on March 18 and March 19 respectively, said the officials.</p>

<p>In Barsana, 45 parking spaces and 78 barriers have been built to prevent traffic jams. In Nandgaon, a total of 12 parking spaces and 29 obstacles have been constructed.</p>

<p>To ensure swift movement of traffic, four watch towers in Barsana and two in Nandgaon have been built. In addition, 150 extra buses will travel various routes to Barsana and Nandgaon in preparation for the Lathmar Holi celebration.</p>

<p>Four ponds in Barsana and one in Nandgaon have been barricaded in order to prevent incidents of drowning.</p>

India: Police quash reports of stampede during pre-Holi celebrations in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura

<p>The 22-year-old Japanese woman who was harassed on the streets of India’s capital New Delhi during the Holi celebration has finally opened up about the incident.</p>

<p>India was outraged after a video of a group of men forcefully smearing colours, smashing an egg on her head and groping her went viral.</p>

<p>The girl, named Megumi (as per her Twitter ID), had shared the video of the incident on the social media platform, but she deleted it shortly afterwards, saying that she was “terrified” by the responses to the video, and thus decided to remove the tweet.</p>

<p>She also described the whole incident as “unfortunate”.</p>

<p>“On March 9th, I tweeted a video of the Indian festival Holi, but after that, the number of RTs and DMs increased more than I had imagined, and I was terrified, so I deleted the tweet,” a rough translation available of her tweet said.</p>

<p>“I sincerely apologize to those who were offended by the video,” she said.</p>

The girl, named Megumi (as per her Twitter ID), had shared the video of the incident on the social media platform, but she deleted it shortly afterwards, saying that she was “terrified” by the responses to the video, and thus decided to remove the tweet. Japanese woman who was molested on Holi opens up after leaving India

<p>Delhi Police on Saturday arrested three men who were found harassing and groping a 22-year-old Japanese woman on the pretext of smearing colours on her during the Holi festival in the national capital.</p>

<p>“Three persons, including one juvenile, have been apprehended and questioned. They have confessed their involvement in the incident as seen in the video. They all are residents of a nearby area of Paharganj,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) Sanjay Kumar Sain said, according to PTI news agency.</p>

<p>All of them were apprehended after the police took suo motu&nbsp;action. However, further legal action will be decided on merits and in accordance with the complaint by the girl, if any, police said added.</p>

<p>A senior police officer said that neither the girl nor the Japanese officials made any complaint, adding that the police acted after netzines expressed outrage.</p>

<p>Police said they have taken the notice of the video and were verifying whether it is of a recent incident or an old one.</p>

<p>The police’s response came after a video went viral that purportedly showed a group of men applying colour on the foreigner, who was visibly uncomfortable.</p>

<p>At least 15 students of Pakistan’s minority Hindu community were targeted by a radical student organisation for celebrating the Holi festival. The incident took place on Monday at Punjab university premises in Lahore.</p>

<p>According to PTI news agency, around 30 Hindu students had gathered to celebrate the festival of colours at the Law College of Punjab University when they were attacked.</p>

<p>"As students gathered at the lawns of the law college, the Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) activists forcibly stopped them from celebrating Holi, which led to a clash resulting in injuries to 15 Hindu students," Kashif Brohi, a university student and an eyewitness told PTI.</p>

<p>He said that they had taken prior permission from the university administration.</p>

<p>The videos going viral on social media purportedly from the spot of violence show a number of&nbsp;violent scuffles between individuals identified as students of the university. WION does not vouch for the authenticity of the videos.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Another student who suffered injuries, Khet Kumar, said that they were attacked again but this time by university guards when they held a demonstration outside the Vice-Chancellor's office to protest the assault by IJT members.</p>

<p>"We have filed an application with the police against the IJT and the security guards involved in thrashing and torturing us, but FIR has not been registered as yet," Kumar said.</p>

<p>Responding to the issue, IJT (Punjab University) spokesperson Ibrahim Shahid denied the involvement of its students.</p>

<p>"None of the students involved in a brawl with the Hindu students belong&nbsp;to the IJT," he said and added the IJT organised 'Quran Reading' at the law college.</p>

<p>Punjab University spokesman Khurram Shahzad told PTI that the students were not given permission to celebrate Holi at the lawns of the law college.</p>

<p>"There would not have been any problem had the celebrations been observed indoors," he was quoted as saying.</p>

<p>He said that the vice chancellor has taken note and ordered an inquiry into the matter.</p>
