The actress, whose identity has not been revealed, urged Lench to give Weinstein "the maximum sentence allowable," which would have been 18 years.

She said, "His selfish, disgusting actions have greatly impacted my life. There is no prison sentence long enough to undo the damage."

The producer's attorneys said that they will appeal the Los Angeles verdict, which came with his conviction by a jury in December last year.

However, the jury acquitted Weinstein of another sexual assault charge related to a different Jane Doe accuser as they couldn’t reach an agreement on three other counts.&nbsp;

This is Weinstein's second conviction since #MeToo movement spread like wildfire in the United States. He is already serving a 23-year prison sentence after being convicted of sex crimes by a New York City court in 2020.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom, who&nbsp;testified against Weinstein and disclosed that she was harassed by the producer,&nbsp;shared a statement on Twitter in response to the verdict. The tweet read, "Harvey Weinstein will never be able to rape another woman. He will spend the rest of his life behind bars where he belongs. Harvey Weinstein is a serial predator and what he did was rape."

"Throughout the trial, Weinstein’s lawyers used sexism, misogyny, and bullying tactics to intimate, demean and ridicule us survivors,"&nbsp;Jennifer added. "This trail was a stark reminder that we as a society have work to do. To all survivors out there — I see you, I hear you, and I stand with you."

Lauren O’Connor, who penned the leaked 2015 memo addressed to her colleagues that brought Weinstein’s toxic behaviour to light and eventually helped take him down, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter.

She said, “The women who came forward and took the stand are immeasurably brave, and while it is disappointing he was not convicted on all counts, I am grateful for the verdict — he cannot hurt people anymore.”

“But I think it is important to remember, the larger issues around understanding rape and consent are not solved because one bad man went to jail. There is still work to be done, and yesterday’s verdict demonstrates that,” Lauren added.&nbsp;

My reaction was almost a visceral anger at how much these women had been put through to take the stand. The fact that the legal system puts such a burden on the witness, challenges the survivor’s credibility. It is a horrifying and brutal process. What sort of signal does that give women of the #MeToo movement who are really struggling? A staggering percentage of rape victims know they’re not going to be believed.”&nbsp;

He was cleared of another charge, and a mistrial was declared on three more.

But the Oscar winner said Tuesday he would challenge the guilty verdicts.

"Harvey is obviously disappointed in the verdict. He knows what happened and what never did," Weinstein spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, said in a statement to AFP.

"However, the account of Jane Doe #1 has a strong legal basis for an appeal, as the logistics of the time and location of the alleged incident make no sense.&nbsp;

"Harvey is grateful for the jury’s work on the other counts and he’s determined to continue his legal challenges in ultimately proving his innocence."

On Monday after two weeks of deliberation, the Los Angeles jury convicted him of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and sexual penetration by a foreign object.

The eight men and four women on the panel acquitted him of one charge of sexual battery by restraint involving another woman.

They did not reach a verdict on charges relating to the alleged assaults of two other women, one of whom was identified by her lawyers as Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Weinstein, who was once one of the most powerful people in the movie industry, is due to be sentenced on January 9, and could face up to 18 years.

The jury on Tuesday was unable to reach a verdict on aggravating factors that could have increased that sentence to 24 years.

On Wednesday, the jurors asked to have a few testimonies read back to them, indicating that they are still sifting through the witnesses' allegations. Since the courtroom will be closed on Thursday and Friday, the testimonies are expected to be read on&nbsp;Monday.

Through the course of the deliberations, the jury asked one question. Judge Lisa B. Lench, however, has opted not to reveal the question&nbsp;to the media. It's difficult to decipher why the jury is taking so long to deliver the verdict since not a lot of information is out in public.&nbsp;

"The court is aware that there have been inquiries from the press regarding the contents of juror questions sent to the court," the judge said in a minute order Wednesday. Two of the four women at the centre of the charges described encounters that never happened, he said.&nbsp;

It so happened that Weinstein called her to his room to discuss potential film projects and then raped her. When asked why she remained in the hotel suite, she said, "Because you don't say no to Harvey Weinstein. He could make or ruin your career. I thought I was going to discuss my projects."

Harvey Weinstein was found guilty in 2020 in New York of first-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree rape and was sentenced to 23 years in prison. He has maintained his innocence and called these allegations baseless and the sex “consensual”.&nbsp;

Harvey Weinstein used his power and influence in Hollywood to rape women, leaving them terrified for their careers if they stood up to him, a court in Los Angeles heard Monday.

The movie mogul exploited both his physical size and his position as "king" of the film industry to attack his victims in hotel rooms, the prosecution said, as a two-month trial began to hear evidence.

"They feared that he could crush their careers if they reported what he had done," Deputy District Attorney Paul Thompson told the packed courtroom.

Thompson said jurors would hear from eight women who were sexually assaulted by the "Pulp Fiction" producer, who is credited with making the careers of some of the movie industry's biggest names, including Quentin Tarantino, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow.

"Each of these women came forward independent of each other, and none of them knew one another," he said.

The jury will hear testimony from these women, he said, including how they begged the now-70-year-old to stop, but that he persisted in raping them, forcing them to perform oral sex on him, or making them watch him masturbate.

Weinstein, who produced 'The English Patient' and 'Good Will Hunting',&nbsp;is already serving 23 years in jail in New York after being convicted there of a series of sex crimes.

He now faces 11 more charges, including sexual battery by restraint, forcible rape and forcible oral copulation against women in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles hotels between 2004 and 2013.

If convicted, Weinstein -- who has pleaded not guilty to all counts -- could be sentenced to more than 100 additional years behind bars.

Thompson played jurors a series of quotes from the alleged victims, describing Weinstein as "the most powerful person in the industry," and "the king."

"Part of me was thinking should I just make a run for it, but he's a big guy," one of the women told investigators.

"He's big. He’s broad. He’s overweight. He’s domineering," one said.

"I still wanted to work in Hollywood so I was afraid to do anything because of that," one woman said.

"I was scared that if I didn’t play nice something could happen in the room or out of the room because of his power in the industry," another woman said.

In common with most victims of sexual assault, the women in the case are being referred to as "Jane Doe," in order to preserve their anonymity, but one has been publicly identified as Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California governor Gavin Newsom.&nbsp;

Defending, Mark Werksman said the prosecution's case was one of quantity, not quality, and driven by emotion, not reason.

He said sex in Hollywood was a commodity, and that this was all exploded by the advent of the #MeToo movement.

"It was transactional sex. It may have been unpleasant, and embarrassing... but it was consensual.

"It was the casting couch. Everyone did it. He did it. They did it. Because each wanted something from another," Werksman said.

"Look at him. He’s not Brad Pitt or George Clooney. Do you think those beautiful women had sex with him because he’s hot? No. They did it because he was powerful."

"An asteroid called the #MeToo movement hit the earth with such ferocity that everything changed overnight. And Mr Weinstein became the epicentre.

"The accusers, in this case, women who willingly played the game by the rules that applied back then, they will come into this courtroom now... and claim they were raped and sexually assaulted,” Werksman said.&nbsp;

Widespread sexual abuse and harassment allegations against Weinstein exploded in October 2017, and his conviction in New York in 2020 was a landmark in the #MeToo movement.

In June, he lost a bid to have that sex crimes conviction overturned. He has been separately charged by British prosecutors with the 1996 indecent assault of a woman in London.

In total, nearly 90 women, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Salma Hayek, have accused Weinstein of harassment or assault.

Weinstein's attorney Mark Werksman has said there would be a testimony in Los Angeles from well-known figures, The Los Angeles Times reported.

"Some of these victims, people will recognize them. Some of these women, you've seen them in movies, they've been in ad campaigns, a couple of them have achieved some success as actresses or models," Werksman said, according to the paper.

Weinstein says that all his sexual encounters were consensual, and his lawyer told reporters that the Los Angeles accusations "stem from many years ago" and cannot "be substantiated or corroborated by any forensic evidence" or "credible witnesses."

Before the allegations against him emerged, the producer and his brother Bob were Hollywood's ultimate power players.
