In the conversation, Jaishankar reaffirmed the commitment of India to "countering terrorism, observance of international humanitarian law and for a two-state solution". 
 
"Spoke this afternoon with FM Eli Choen of Israel. Appreciated his sharing the Israeli assessment of the current situation. Reiterated our firm commitment to countering terrorism, observance of international humanitarian law and for a two-state solution," wrote Jaishankar, on his official handle on X.

He further emphasised the importance of observing international humanitarian law and ensuring that the lives of civilians are protected in the conflict zones. 
 
In the talks, the foreign minister further articulated steadfast support of India for a two-state solution to the decades-old conflict between Israel and Palestine.

But surely, it must be everybody's hope that eventually...the conflict can't be the normal of the region and that it comes back to some stability, some co-operation." 
 
"Within this we have to find a balance between different issues. Because there is no question. If there is issue of terrorism, and we all find terrorism unacceptable, we have to stand up. But there is also an issue of Palestine. There has to be solution for the problems faced by the Palestinian people," he further said.

At least 15 people were killed and dozens of other were injured, said Mohammad Abu Selmeyah, the head of al-Shifa Hospital, after the incident, reported Reuters.

"People were preparing breakfast, when suddenly bombing started. I found my two girls, one of them was martyred and her head was hit, the second was wounded in her leg... the other girl as well was wounded with shrapnel," one man was heard saying in video footage, Reuters stated. 
 
In Gaza, the Ministry of Health stated that two women were killed at the Nasser Children Hospital's door by another Israeli missile strike.

Hours before, the health officials in Gaza had stated that an ambulance was hit in an airstrike which was part of the convoy carrying injured Palestinians at al-Shifa hospital. 
 
Israel's military had stated that the ambulance was identified and hit because it was "being used by an Hamas terrorist cell" and that many Hamas fighters were killed in the attack. 
 
Israel was challenged by the Palestinian health ministry to provide proof of militants being present in the ambulance. Israel stated that it is mulling over the release of additional information.

At least 35 people have been killed after Israeli strikes on an ambulance convoy in Gaza City on Friday (Nov 3), and an attack “targeting” a school in northern Gaza on early Saturday (Nov 4), said the Hamas-run Palestinian health ministry.&nbsp;

The Israeli army confirmed that they struck an ambulance convoy near one of Gaza’s biggest hospitals saying that it was being used by the Palestinian militant group to transfer militants and weapons.&nbsp;

The strike has since garnered condemnation and criticism from the World Health Organization chief, the United Nations’ chief and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).&nbsp;

At least 15 people were killed and 60 others were injured after Israel struck a convoy of ambulances near the Al-Shifa hospital that was evacuating wounded people from the besieged north to the south of the territory, said the Hamas-run health ministry.&nbsp;

Ashraf al-Qudra, a spokesman for the ministry said that the convoy of ambulances was transporting critically wounded patients from the Al-Shifa hospital to the Rafah border crossing with Egypt when it was targeted in an Israeli attack.&nbsp;

The Israeli military later took responsibility for the attack and said it had identified and hit an ambulance “being used by a Hamas terrorist cell” in the battle zone, adding that a number of Hamas fighters had been killed in the strike.

Al-Qudra, during a press conference outside the Al-Shifa hospital, said two ambulance vehicles were targeted – the first one at the Ansar Roundabout in Gaza City, which left the driver of the ambulance and a paramedic injured.&nbsp;

Subsequently, as the medical convoy turned back, a second ambulance was targeted when it arrived at the gate of the Al-Shifa Hospital complex.&nbsp;

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus took to X after the attack and said he was “utterly shocked” by the reports of the deadly attack on ambulances evacuating patients.&nbsp;

The PRCS condemned, early Saturday saying one of its ambulances was struck “by a missile fired by the Israeli forces,” about two metres from the entrance to the Al-Shifa hospital.&nbsp;

PRCS, part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, added that deliberately targeting medical teams constituted “a grave violation of the Geneva Conventions, a war crime”.&nbsp;

“I am horrified by the reported attack in Gaza on an ambulance convoy outside Al Shifa hospital,” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. He added, “The images of bodies strewn on the street outside the hospital are harrowing.”

“This must stop,” said the UN chief reiterating his calls for a humanitarian ceasefire.&nbsp;

At least 35 killed after Israel strikes ambulance, school in Gaza, says Hamas-run health ministry

France will host an international humanitarian conference for the civilian population in Gaza on Nov. 9 as it looks to coordinate aid for the besieged Palestinian enclave, four diplomatic sources said.

While Paris has offered its support for Israel over a deadly Oct. 7 attack by Hamas Islamists, there has been growing concern over civilian casualties that have soared under Israel's retaliatory bombardment that has seen thousands killed, wounded and displaced in Gaza.

President Emmanuel Macron confirmed to reporters in Brittany that the conference would take place.

The conference will be at head of state, government and foreign minister level. Key regional stakeholders such as Egypt, Jordan and the Gulf Arab countries will be invited as well as Western, European powers and G20 members, excluding Russia.

International institutions, including the United Nations and Arab League, and non-governmental organisations operating in Gaza will also be present, the diplomats said.

The conference will aim to mobilise financial resources with several sectors identified for emergency support based on U.N. assessments of the immediate needs and the opening of strictly humanitarian crossing points into Gaza.

Re-establishing the supply of water, fuel and electricity would be under discussion, while ensuring accountability processes to ensure aid was not diverted to Hamas.

Meanwhile, in contrast to results for "Muslim boy Palestinian", a search for "Jewish boy Israeli" generated four images of boys — two wearing the star of David, one reading while wearing a Yarmulke (a skullcap worn by orthodox Jewish men) and the final one just standing.

Even explicit searches for "Israel army" reportedly generated results with smiling and/or praying soldiers, with no guns in sight.

This revelation comes as Meta comes under fire over an increasing number of users on Instagram and Facebook reporting biased moderation policies — in favour of Israel. Users posting in support of Palestine have reported a steep drop in engagement.

In a blog post from mid-October, Meta clarified that its "policies are designed to give everyone a voice while keeping people safe on our apps," and that "we apply these policies regardless of who is posting or their personal beliefs, and it is never our intention to suppress a particular community or point of view."

Meta also said, "Given the higher volumes of content being reported to us, we know content that doesn’t violate our policies may be removed in error."
