Two men were executed by a Palestinian armed group in the West Bank city of Tulkarem on Friday (Nov 24) night on charges of being informants to Israel, according to media reports. The two were executed as a mob cheered on. A Palestinian journalist, speaking anonymously, reportedly mentioned that after being shot, the corpses were beaten and stomped on by residents.

Videos circulating online showed Palestinians filming the gruesome scene as the bodies were initially attempted to be hung from an electrical tower. Facing difficulties, residents eventually threw the bodies over the walls of a UN school in the area, tying their feet to a chain-link fence.

The victims, identified as Hamza Mubarak, 31, and Azam Juabra, 29, were accused of providing information to Israel that allegedly led to a recent counter-terror raid resulting in six deaths.

Gruesome execution in West Bank: 2 men shot and hung on pole over suspicion of spying for Israel

Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian marchers took to the streets in London, United Kingdom, on Saturday (Nov 25) with antisemitic banners on display, despite police warnings, calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza amid the Israel-Hamas war.&nbsp;

The city’s Metropolitan Police said that they arrested over a dozen people, including at least five people for suspected incitement of racial hatred while the majority of people protested peacefully.&nbsp;

<h2>‘National March for Palestine’</h2>

The protest dubbed National March for Palestine took place in Central London and was the latest in a series of several huge demonstrations that the British capital city has witnessed on the weekends since the beginning of the war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza.&nbsp;

Around 45,000 campaigners participated in the rally on Saturday, as per police estimates, which took place on the second day of the four-day truce between Israel and Hamas. The recent truce marked the first pause in fighting giving some respite in the constant bombardment and fighting in the Palestinian enclave, but protesters said that was not enough.

“We need full support for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza,” 64-year-old protester Kate Hudson told Reuters at the rally which began from Park Lane and finished outside the Houses of Parliament.

She added, “It’s very welcome that there is a pause...But this problem needs to be resolved and resolved so that the Palestinians finally have the political settlement that countless U.N. resolutions have enshrined.”

The police were also seen distributing leaflets which sought to clarify what would be deemed a criminal offence and warned demonstrators against breaking the law after facing pressure from senior government officials to take action over alleged displays of antisemitism at the protests.&nbsp;

<h2>Antisemitic slogans raised</h2>

“I would like to acknowledge the overwhelming majority who came into London today and exercised their right to protest lawfully,” said Ade Adelekan, the Met police’s deputy assistant commissioner.&nbsp;

He added, “Regrettably, there was still a small minority who believed the law did not apply to them.” The police arrested 18 people, including a man who was spotted carrying a placard with Nazi symbol Hakenkreuz.&nbsp;

During the rally on Saturday, a young woman was also seen holding a placard that read, “Stop doing what Hitler did to you”, in what was one of several banners making such antisemitic comparisons between Israel’s bombing of Gaza and the Holocaust, reported The Telegraph.

<h2>Protest against antisemitism</h2>

Thousands of people are also expected to take part in a march organised by the Campaign Against Antisemitism charity in support of the Jewish community in the UK on Sunday (Nov 26). The Met police had previously said that over 1,500 officers would be deployed for both marches over the weekend.&nbsp;

These marches triggered a lot of debate in the UK over upholding the right to protest and police using its power to stop what some in the Jewish community reportedly see as hateful, racist or antisemitic language or actions.

Earlier this month, the UK’s former Interior Minister Suella Braverman was sacked by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak after she accused police of “double standards” at protests showing support for Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrations.&nbsp;

She also called pro-Palestinian protesters “hate marchers.”

Hand’s family said they “can’t find the words to describe our emotions after 50 challenging and complicated days”.&nbsp;

It added, “We are overjoyed to embrace Emily again, but at the same time, we remember Raya Rotem (Hila’s mother) and all the hostages who have yet to return. We will persist in doing everything in our power to bring them back home”.&nbsp;

<h2>Irish PM slammed</h2>

Israeli government spokesperson Eylon Levy slammed Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar over a statement he posted about Emily. Announcing the nine-year-old’s release from Hamas captivity, Varadkar took to X and said “This is a day of enormous joy and relief for Emily Hand and her family.”&nbsp;

“An innocent child who was lost has now been found and returned, and we breathe a massive sigh of relief. Our prayers have been answered,” he added.&nbsp;

In response to the post, Levy told the Irish PM that Hand wasn’t “lost” but had been “brutally abducted by the death squads that massacred her neighbours”.&nbsp;

He also said the way that Varadkar described Emily’s abduction was “how you describe a little girl who went missing during a stroll in a forest, then gets discovered by a friendly hiker.”

In a subsequent post, the Israeli government spokesperson along with an image of a “Lost and Found Box” said, “No wonder the Irish government opposes Israel’s military pressure on Hamas to release innocent hostages. It thought Emily Hand was hiding here.”

The nine-year-old had been at a sleepover at a friend’s house in Kibbutz Be’eri when the massacre by Hamas took place. According to Israeli officials, more than 100 people were killed in that community alone.&nbsp;

Her father Thomas, who was born in Ireland and later moved to Israel, told AFP earlier this month that initially he thought his daughter had been killed in the attack.&nbsp;

“Later on we had an eyewitness...(who) saw her being led away by the terrorists, into a van off to Gaza” he told the news agency.&nbsp;

The detainees were welcomed by cheering crowds across the West Bank and some marching in the street carrying Palestinian flags.

A few of them also carried the flag of the Hamas group amid chants&nbsp;in support of Abu Ubaida, the spokesperson of the group's armed wing.

"I am happy but my liberation came at the price of the blood of the martyrs," said Marah Bakir, 24, referring to the nearly 15,000 deaths across the Gaza Strip that its Hamas-led government says were caused by Israel's military offensive.

Freedom from "the four walls of the prison" is "magnificent", said Bakir, who had been in custody for eight years.

A total of 39 Palestinian women and minors, who were detained in Israel on various charges, were released under the deal brokered by Qatar to pause the fighting in Gaza.&nbsp;

On the other hand, as a part of the agreement, 24 hostages were released by the Hamas group on Friday, which included 13 Israelis, 10 Thais and a Filipino.

Thirteen Israeli hostages were first handed over to the Red Cross, which then placed them in the custody of Israeli forces after a medical examination.

They entered Egypt through the Rafah crossing and were then handed over to the Israeli forces.

Nearly more than 100 Palestinian prisoners are scheduled to be released over the coming four days and more may be released if the truce is extended.

Hanan Al-Barghouti, aged 58, who was released after two months in Israeli custody, praised Hamas, its leader, and the people of Gaza.&nbsp;

Thailand's foreign minister and army chief are set to travel to Israel to bring the freed hostages back, said Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin while speaking to reporters. He added that his government was trying to secure the release of the rest of the captives. "We will not stop. We will bring them back," he stated. 
 
Taking to social media, Iran's Embassy in Bangkok said that the release was facilitated by Tehran by providing a list of names to Hamas after Thailand's foreign ministry and a parliamentary speaker made a request for the same. 
 
A Thai foreign ministry spokesperson stated that Thailand had "provided lists since the beginning to everyone," including Egypt, Qatar, Iran and Israel. "Different actors would have different influence on Hamas," the spokesperson stated.
