<p>When the word spread, the locals came ahead to applaud the youngster's actions.One such man was Matt Block who decided to gift&nbsp;his dream car, a&nbsp;2004 red Mustang convertible to Gwynn, after he spotted the latter asking for car buying advice of Facebook.</p>

<p>The gift, Gwynn said, meant a lot as his late mother also drove a red Mustang before she passed away in 2018.</p>

<p>On learning about this geneours gift, an insurance agent&nbsp;Bob Briceland&nbsp; decided to offer&nbsp;a year of free auto insurance coverage.</p>

<p>As Gwynn is a high-schooler who is saving up for college,&nbsp;Medaille College in Buffalo offered him a full scholarship. Gwynn will now be starting his course in business in the coming fall session.</p>

<p>A mounting wave of protests demanding police reform after the killing of a black man in Minneapolis swept across the United States on Sunday, building on the momentum of huge demonstrations across the country the day before.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The near-festive tone of many of the weekend protests unfolded with no major violence, in sharp contrast to heated clashes between marchers and police in previous days.</p>

<p>The outpouring of protests followed the May 25 killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man who died after being pinned by the neck for nine minutes by a white officer's knee. A bystander's cellphone captured the scene as Floyd pleaded with the officer, choking out the words "I can't breathe."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I have cops in my family, I do believe in a police presence," said Nikky Williams, a black Air Force veteran who marched in Washington on Sunday. "But I do think that reform has got to happen."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The change in the tenor of the demonstrations this weekend may reflect a sense that the demands of protesters for sweeping police reform were resonating in many strata of American society.</p>

<p>In a step that would have seemed unthinkable just two weeks ago, a majority of the Minneapolis City Council pledged on Sunday to disband the police department in favor of a community-led safety model.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"A veto-proof majority of the MPLS City Council just publicly agreed that the Minneapolis Police Department is not reformable and that we're going to end the current policing system," Alondra Cano, a member of the Minneapolis council, said on Twitter.</p>

<p>One of the largest protests on Sunday was in Los Angeles. A crowd estimated by a local television station at 20,000 packed Hollywood Boulevard, filling the street from curb to curb along the famous strip from Vine Street to Highland Avenue. The crowd assembled after a Twitter message from the rapper YG on Saturday.</p>

<p>In New York, at least half a dozen loosely organized groups of protesters marched through midtown Manhattan carrying handmade signs with slogans including "Defund the Police, Fund Schools."&nbsp;</p>

<p>A common theme of weekend rallies was a determination to transform outrage over Floyd's death last month into a broader movement seeking far-reaching reforms to the U.S. criminal justice system and its treatment of minorities.</p>

<p>Bristol mayor Marvin Rees said: "I know the removal of the Colston Statue will divide opinion, as the statue itself has done for many years," adding, "However, it's important to listen to those who found the statue to represent an affront to humanity."</p>

<p>The Opposition welcomed the toppling of the statute with Labour party lawmaker Clive Lewis saying: "Someone responsible for immeasurable blood &amp; suffering. We’ll never solve structural racism till we get to grips with our history in all its complexity. #BLM"</p>

<p>There were protests across the country in Manchester, Wolverhampton, Nottingham including in Edinburg and Glasgow.</p>

<p>Dozens of scientists who are conducting research, backed by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, have advised the CEO to atleast flag the posts published by the US President Donald Trump.</p>

<p>The researchers believe that the social media giant should&nbsp;not allow Donald Trump use&nbsp;the social media platform to "spread both misinformation and incendiary statements."</p>

<p>The researchers have asked Zuckerberg to consider the sensitive time that the country is going through and ensure "stricter policies on misinformation and incendiary language that harms people."</p>

<p>The team of researchers sent a letter to the Facebook CEO&nbsp;giving their suggestions. The letter had 160 signatories, out of these 160, about&nbsp;10% are employees of Chan Zuckerberg foundations and nearly 60 professors are from leading US research institutions.</p>

<p>The research is led by Debora Marks of Harvard Medical School,&nbsp;Martin Kampmann of the University of California-San Francisco and Jason Shepherd of the University of Utah.</p>
