Newey, who prefers to stay "under the radar" said he was surprised by the recognition for his achievements in the sport. “I mean, I’ve been doing the job I’ve always wanted to since I was a kid. That’s my passion. And I enjoy working with the drivers, the engineers in the team, all the other mechanics at the factory, etc. That’s what gets me up and motivates me," said Newey. “The kind of other side of it is something [which] I guess comes as part of the package, but not something I ever think about. So it has been a bit of a shock and a surprise almost," he added. Newey is expected to depart Red Bull at the end of the first quarter of 2025, having been associated with the team for close to two decades. During his stay on the paddock, Newey managed to clinch 12 F1 Constructors and 13 Drivers Championships and could potentially walk away with another two trophies in the bag. Although Newey has been linked to multiple teams since the announcement, it appears that the Briton would be taking some time away from the sport. “It’s probably surprise more than anything because I never think about that, so statistics and all that isn’t something that drives me, it’s what I do and I just kind of normally end up under the radar and I’m very happy with that," he added. McLaren have issued a statement, defending their decision to allow former US president Donald Trump to visit their garage at the Miami Grand Prix that concluded on Sunday (May 5) with a first top podium finish for Lando Norris. A section of Formula 1 fans, however, did not like the presence of Trump and criticised the British motorsport company.&nbsp;

Trump, who lives in Florida, was among the several VIPs to descend to the race track and the paddock in Miami. He was seen interacting with Norris while posing for photos with team chief executive Zak Brown in the pit lane outside the garage.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Amid the online criticism, McLaren issued a statement saying that the organisation was honoured to host Trump at the request of the FIA boss.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“McLaren is a non-political organisation, however, we recognise and respect the office of President of the United States so when the request was made to visit our garage on race day we accepted alongside the president of the FIA and the CEO’s of Liberty Media and Formula 1," read the statement.&nbsp;

“We were honoured that McLaren Racing was chosen as the representative of F1 which gave us the opportunity to showcase the world-class engineering that we bring to motorsport," it added.&nbsp;

"2021 was a really busy year with all the title battle with Mercedes through the championship and at the same time, putting all the research and development into the RB18, which is the father of this generation of cars ... and then there comes a point where, as Forest Gump said, 'I'm feeling a little bit tired'.

Fernando Alonso has accused the Formula One stewards of harbouring a strong bias against drivers of certain nationalities, especially Spanish, after Lewis Hamilton escaped a penalty for his involvement in the first-lap incident during Saturday's (May 4) sprint race in Miami.&nbsp;

Alonso claimed "nationality" plays a role in the stewards' decisions, adding that he was going to have a chat with the FIA president over the issue.&nbsp;

“I do feel that nationality matters.&nbsp;I will speak with Mohammed (Ben Sulayem, FIA president), with FIA, whatever," said Alonso.&nbsp;

"I need to make sure that there is not anything wrong with my nationality or anything that can influence any decision – not only for me, also for the future generation of Spanish drivers that need to be protected," he added.

While Hamilton escaped any penalty for his actions, the same has not been the case with Alonso lately. The Aston Martin driver was penalised 10 seconds and slapped with three penalty points on his license for crashing into Carlos Sainz during the sprint in Shanghai.&nbsp;

The incident happened on the first lap as Alonso whacked into the inside of teammate Lance Stroll. While McLaren's Lando Norris was on the outside of the Aston Martin teammates, Hamilton made it a four-into-one scenario by ploughing straight into Alonso, flying up inside at Turn 1.&nbsp;

Hamilton could be heard explaining his team that he'd seen a "gap" and gone for it. However, the commentators points out that the British driver had used the Aston Martin as his breaking point.&nbsp;

While most anticipated a penalty for the seven-time world champions, the stewards justified their&nbsp;non-investigation on the grounds no one driver was predominantly to blame and that it was anyway on the first lap, when leniency is exercised.

“While it appeared to us that the incidents began with cars 14 [Alonso] and 18 [Stroll], the sudden and fast arrival of car 44 contributed to the various collisions. However, we were not able to identify one or more drivers wholly or predominantly to blame for the various collisions or any one of them," the stewards said.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Red Bull's Max Verstappen ultimately won the sprint as Alonso had to settle with 15th point on Sunday's starting grid.&nbsp;

The 2025 Australian Grand Prix will be the Formula One season-opener for the first time in six years instead of Bahrain after the sport's governing body (FIA) released next year's calendar on Friday.

The 24-race season will commence on March 16 in Melbourne and end on Dec. 7 in Abu Dhabi as Formula One celebrates the 75th anniversary of its world championship.

The Bahrain Grand Prix has been the opening race of the season since 2021 while the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has been the second race on the calendar since 2022.

Formula One did not race at Melbourne's Albert Park Circuit in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but will now host the opening race instead of the Middle Eastern kingdom due to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan falling in March next year.

The first European race will take place in Imola in May as part of a triple header which also includes Monaco and Spain in back-to-back weekends.

"We're grateful to the FIA, our promoters, host city partners, and all the related ASNs for their commitment and support in delivering this schedule and securing what promises to be another fantastic year for Formula 1," Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said in a statement.

The testing schedule and the sprint calendar are set to be announced at a later date.

The 2025 Australian Grand Prix will be the Formula One season-opener for the first time in six years instead of Bahrain after the sport's governing body (FIA) released next year's calendar on Friday. The 24-race season will commence on March 16 in Melbourne and end on Dec. 7 in Abu Dhabi as Formula One celebrates the 75th anniversary of its world championship. The Bahrain Grand Prix has been the opening race of the season since 2021 while the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has been the second race on the calendar since 2022. Formula One did not race at Melbourne's Albert Park Circuit in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but will now host the opening race instead of the Middle Eastern kingdom due to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan falling in March next year. The first European race will take place in Imola in May as part of a triple header which also includes Monaco and Spain in back-to-back weekends. The woman's friend said she "struggled to understand" how Red Bull suspended her following the complaint, lodged in December last year.&nbsp;

"It's impossible for people to understand what it's like for her. She can't talk and she won't talk," the friend told the publication.&nbsp;

"But I can tell you what it is doing to her. Every time I have asked her something, she breaks down in tears and says she's got no one to talk to because she's not allowed to talk," the friend added.&nbsp;

"She is very upset, very angry, very scared, very intimidated, very lonely. And I think it's impossible for people to understand without being in her shoes what it's like for her."

The Milton Keynes employee and Red Bull have reportedly signed a confidentiality agreement which means she cannot divulge any details outside, apart from confiding in her father and brother.&nbsp;

<h2>WhatsApp texts genuine</h2>

A recent Guardian report stated that that the complainant will take her case to an employment tribunal if the current complaint with the FIA is also dismissed.&nbsp;

If the suspended Red Bull employee takes the tribunal route, it would mean that all the private details of the case would come into the public domain. Barring an email that was leaked after Red Bull gave a clean chit to Horner, nothing related to the case has come out in public so far.

The said email leaked to the FIA, F1, the other nine teams and media, contained messages purporting to be between the woman and Horner. The authenticity of the messages and media has not been confirmed or denied by Red Bull so far.&nbsp;

The friend, however, said the WhatsApp texts were genuine and that both parties had exchanged them.&nbsp;

"We can all read the WhatsApps and anybody can come to their own conclusion whether that was an appropriate relationship between a CEO and a PA."

Since the allegations first surfaced during the pre-season testing, Horner has maintained that he is innocent and that he remains "absolutely confident" of staying at the helm for the remainder of the season.

The Red Bull also said three-time champion Max Verstappen was free to&nbsp;leave the team if he desired and that he wouldn't stand in his way as no individual was bigger than the team.

Verstappen revealed that the car did not feel alright from the get-go and that it was like driving with a 'handbrake' on.&nbsp;

"What we could see so far in the data is as soon as the lights went off the right rear brake just stuck on, and of course the temperature kept on increasing," Verstappen told reporters.

"So it was also basically driving with the handbrake on and that's why already it felt the car was really weird to drive in some corners. It was just very snappy."

"It was a bit unexpected today in qualifying, but very happy with Q3," said the triple world champion, who won the race last year after his maiden pole at Albert Park.

"It was a bit of a tricky weekend so far but we managed to be there at the end, so very happy with that.

"(Ferrari) seem very quick, also in the long runs. So a bit of a question mark tomorrow but that makes it exciting."

Sainz, who missed the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix while recovering from surgery, said he was happy with Ferrari's pace and to be challenging the Red Bulls.

"To make it to this weekend and then obviously to put it on the front row after leading through qualifying, I was almost not believing it, especially after how tough it’s been," he added.

<h2>'DIFFICULT TO SWALLOW'</h2>

It was a tough afternoon for Mercedes, with seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton suffering his worst qualifying at Albert Park in over a decade.

Hamilton failed to make the third session of qualifying (Q3) and will start 11th on the grid, his worst result at Albert Park since qualifying 11th in the 2010 race.

The Briton was 0.77 seconds off Sainz's best (1:16.189) in Q2, and he has been outqualified in every race this season by team mate George Russell, who will start seventh on Sunday.

"It felt great in P3, and it was strange because we were right there with these guys and we didn't really understand why," said Hamilton, who was fourth quickest in the final practice earlier on Saturday.

"And then going to qualifying and just the inconsistency within the car is ... it really messes with the mind."

Fernando Alonso had to abort his first lap in Q3 after a skid through gravel at turn six and qualified 10th, behind Aston Martin team mate Lance Stroll.

Only one Williams car featured in qualifying and will race on Sunday, with Alex Albon swapping into Logan Sargeant's car after wrecking his own during Friday practice.

The England-born Thai will start 12th on the grid.

Home racer Daniel Ricciardo of RB was eliminated in Q1 in a massive blow and will start 18th after his fastest lap was deleted for going off-track at turn five.

Yuki Tsunoda, his less experienced team mate, will start from eighth on the grid and has outqualified Ricciardo in every race this season.

The report further claimed that the Mercedes boss was benefiting from information shared by his wife. A couple of days later FIA announced its compliance department was "looking into" the allegations.&nbsp;

However, after Wolff and Mercedes denied the allegations while other nine F1 teams denied having made the complaint, FIA dropped the investigation.&nbsp;

Three-time world champion Max Verstappen has ruled out&nbsp;a move to a rival outfit amid the ongoing Red Bull saga.&nbsp;Max has been flying on the track, having won the opening two races of the calendar but the&nbsp;controversy surrounding team principal Christian Horner refuses to leave him alone.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Quizzed at the Australian Grand Prix ahead of Free Practice 1 if he intended to honour the Red Bull contract signed till 2028, Verstappen cleared the air and said he was committed to the team.&nbsp;

“Of course, that is why I signed the contract in the first place," said Verstappen.

“For sure, with the deal in place, that is my intention, to be here until the end. It would be a great story for me to see it out till the end because it would mean I’ve been part of one family and one team."&nbsp;

“I feel we all want the same, we all want to perform on the track, that’s what we want to focus on as a team.&nbsp;In general, when you have a successful team, when you have a good group of central people, it is important to keep them together and happy and in the same roles," he added.

Verstappen's fresh comments come&nbsp;after he suggested the situation would not be good if Red Bull motorsport adviser Helmut Marko was let go due to his opposition to Horner.

"It's very important that he stays within the team. If such an important pillar falls away, that's not good for my situation as well. So, for me, Helmut has to stay, for sure," said Verstappen.&nbsp;

Red Bull's initial plan was to suspend Marko but after Verstappen publically lent his support, the team canned the proposal.&nbsp;

Amid the drama, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff made it clear that he would be happy to take Verstappen in his corner, if he decides to leave Red Bull, come the next season.&nbsp;
