Oscar Piastri beat Lando Norris to top the times in a convincing McLaren one-two ahead of Lewis Hamilton in Saturday’s final practice ahead of the teams’ title-deciding season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Piastri clocked a best lap in one minute and 23.433 seconds to outpace Norris by 0.193sec with seven-time champion Hamilton, in his final race weekend with Mercedes, a further 0.39sec adrift.

Newly-crowned four-time drivers’ champion Max Verstappen was fourth for Red Bull ahead of Carlos Sainz of Ferrari, who are looking to overhaul a 21-point deficit to deprive McLaren of a first constructors’ title since 1998, and George Russell in the second Mercedes.

Nico Hulkenberg was seventh ahead of Haas team-mate Kevin Magnussen, Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, who faces a 10-place grid penalty on Sunday, and Sergio Perez, who is battling to keep his seat in the second Red Bull.

For Ferrari, it was a disappointing session that saw them unable to mount a real challenge to McLaren’s dominant speed, notably in qualifying trim, which suggested they are capable of clinching the title with a one-two in the final race of the year.

Given information about the speed of Piastri in the closing minutes, a somewhat forlorn Leclerc responded: "So, we are nowhere?"

Another hot day greeted the teams at the Yas Marina Circuit where temperatures of 41 degrees (track) and 28 (air) delivered near-perfect conditions.

After their acrimonious feud following the Qatar event last weekend, both Russell and Verstappen appeared to have 'moved on' and were pictured side by side and looking relaxed in the front row of an end-of-season gathering following a meeting of the Grand Prix Drivers Association (GPDA).

Russell had pointedly avoided sitting near the Dutchman, moving a chair to avoid him, on Thursday evening at a drivers’ dinner, hours after they had exchanged accusations and insults.

"I think it’s going to be a good day,"said two-time champion Fernando Alonso on his Aston Martin radio channel after leading out for a first lap. "I have a good feeling."

Having described his car as the "worst ever" on Friday this was, like the body language of Russell and Verstappen, a quantum leap towards restoring some harmony – though the canine exchanges between Toto Wolff and Christian Horner, team bosses of Mercedes and Red Bull, remain unresolved.

Wolff had described Horner as a "yappy little terrier" to which he responded saying "I would rather be a terrier than a wolf". For the paddock, it remained a hot topic for gossip and speculation.

Formula 1: McLaren duo dominate final practice for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Lando Norris said Max Verstappen should be a comedian when he responded on Thursday to the newly-crowned four-time champion's claim that he would have won the title more easily if he was driving for McLaren. The Red Bull driver made the comment after cruising to fifth place at the Las Vegas Grand Prix last weekend to seal his fourth drivers' title triumph.

"Yes, even earlier," Verstappen said when asked about such a scenario. "So I'd have been further ahead."

When it was put to Norris, the McLaren driver smiled.

"He should start doing comedy or something," said Norris. "He can say whatever he wants… Of course, I completely disagree, as I would. He's good, but it's not true."

Verstappen had also suggested he won his fourth title in a year when he did not have the fastest car for at least 70 per cent of the season.

His comments were clearly intended to irritate his friend and rival Norris whose title dream ended in Las Vegas.

But this weekend he and McLaren hope to move closer to winning their first constructors' championship in 26 years –- perhaps with some help from Mercedes who reeled off a rare one-two in Las Vegas where George Russell won ahead of seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton.

"Mercedes were very quick here last year so they're definitely favourites coming into this weekend," said Norris. "Red Bull were good, we were good, as well, so I'm expecting a good battle.

"I'm hoping it probably favours us a little bit more than Ferrari, but Ferrari fixed a lot of the woes that they were struggling with last year so really I've no idea, but when you look at things, Ferrari and Mercedes seem to be a better flow at the moment."

McLaren, on 608 points, lead Ferrari on 584 by 24 points with two Grands Prix, including a sprint this weekend, remaining.

After a fractious exchange with his Ferrari team, Charles Leclerc said he and team-mate Carlos Sainz, who is leaving to be replaced by Hamilton next year, had settled their differences.

The pair swapped positions several times in Las Vegas following team orders that left Leclerc disgruntled.

On Thursday he said: "I don't want to go back to what happened in Vegas... In the last two races of the season, we need to do absolutely everything in order to win that constructors' championship. That's all that matters.

"Whatever happened in Vegas, we discussed it and we are all good -- which is the most important thing. I have no doubts about it because we've always had a really good relationship.

"It's very clear for both of us that we just want to win the constructors' and it's by working as a team that we'll achieve that. I'm sure there won't be any problems with it," Leclerc added.

He should be a comedian: Lando Norris says of Max Verstappen over his ‘McLaren comments’

A prolonged heavy rainstorm led to the postponement of qualifying at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Saturday as deteriorating conditions and poor light ended the day's action at Interlagos.

The session has been delayed until Sunday morning, in the hope the weather improves, but forecasts have suggested that may not be a foregone conclusion.

Officials later said qualifying will take place on Sunday at 1030 GMT with the start of the race brought forward 90 minutes due to concerns over the weather and will get underway at 1530 GMT.

As night began to fall on Saturday, drivers waved to fans on the pit-wall –- giving the big crowd who had waited for more than two hours in the rain -– some reward for their patience.

Formula One boss Stefano Domenicali confirmed the postponement at 1950 GMT and praised the fans inside the circuit for their patience and support.

"First of all, the fans here are incredible," he told F1TV. "But unfortunately, we cannot control the weather and it is just not safe to drive. It's as simple as that and problems too with the light make it worse so that's it.

"The plan now is to run in the morning and the final check will be made with a plan and details for the day."

He added: "I have to say the fans here are unique and we thank them for waiting so long, but it is impossible to race today."

The Safety Car was deployed to evaluate the conditions several times with marshals using brooms to clear deep pools of water around the circuit and in the paddock and pit lane.

After several inspections, it was announced the organisers hoped to begin the session at 1615 local (1915 GMT), but that proved to be impossible.

Many of the fans were Argentine supporters of Franco Colapinto of Williams who has made an impressive start to his F1 career this year as a mid-season deputy for American Logan Sargeant.

Mercedes driver George Russell said it "looks very wet out there but maybe some places are OK – other places there are big puddles."

His team-mate in seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton joked he wanted improved wet weather tyres so he could go out in the rain, a suggestion laughed off by Domenicali.

"Lewis wants to race," he said. "But it is too dark for that."

The expectation among paddock observers was that qualifying would begin at 0900 local time (1200 GMT) on Sunday when world champion and series leader Max Verstappen will start the race with a five-place grid penalty for taking a new engine, his sixth of the season.

Verstappen was penalised earlier on Saturday for an infringement of the Virtual Safety Car rules which cost him seconds and dropped him from third to fourth in the sprint race behind the triumphant McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri with Charles Leclerc promoted to third for Ferrari.

This result permitted Norris to trim the Dutchman's lead in the title race by three points to 44 with four Grands Prix and one sprint race remaining this year.

'Not safe' - Brazilian GP qualifying postponed to Sunday due to heavy rain

Carlos Sainz cruised to an emotional victory for Ferrari ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris in Sunday's incident-filled Mexico City Grand Prix as Red Bull's series leader Max Verstappen was handed two 10-second penalties on his way to sixth.

The stewards took a dim view of Verstappen's aggressive driving, the Red Bull driver twice forcing his title rival Norris off the track.

Norris grabbed second from Charles Leclerc in the other Ferrari near the finish as the Briton enjoyed a major boost in his quest to deny Verstappen a fourth consecutive world championship.

The McLaren driver cut 10 points off the gap to Verstappen which now stands at 47 with four race weekends remaining.

Verstappen paid a heavy price for his show of ruthlessness with Norris commenting: "I knew what to expect from Max. I respect him a lot as a driver and I expected it but it was not very clean driving in my opinion.

"It was a very tough race and I spent a lot of it just trying to avoid crashes."&nbsp;

It was the second week in succession that the two title-chasers had clashed following a penalty for Norris at the United States Grand Prix.

McLaren boss Zak Brown described this latest example of Verstappen's aggressive streak as "ridiculous".

"Enough is enough. Let's just have some good clean racing moving forwards. I think the stewards are on it, I think that's clear by the penalties that were given. The stewards did a good job this weekend."

Asked about his drivers' crown prospects Norris said: "I'm just keeping my head down, we're doing good job as a team, focus on ourselves, that's all I can do for now."

Sainz meanwhile is ensuring he leaves Ferrari with his head held high as he switches next season to Williams to make way for seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

"Gracias Mexico!" said a beaming Sainz.&nbsp;

"It is incredible to see this crowd. I have felt their support all week and it gave me a lot of strength – I said I wanted one more win with Ferrari and to do it here with this mega-crowd is incredible."

It was Ferrari's first victory in Mexico since Alain Prost triumphed in 1990 – enabling them to move ahead of Red Bull in the constructors’ championship - and Sainz's second win of the season and fourth of his career.

Hamilton finished fourth ahead of his Mercedes team-mate George Russell.

Kevin Magnussen finished behind Verstappen in seventh to deliver Haas's best result in Mexico ahead of Oscar Piastri in the second McLaren, who started from the back end of the grid, Nico Hulkenberg in the second Haas and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.&nbsp;

<h2>Tsunoda out</h2>

The race began in a festive atmosphere with Verstappen winning the start from pole-sitter Sainz to lead the run to the first corner where RB’s Yuki Tsunoda crashed out after making contact in the midfield squeeze.

The race was yellow-flagged to retrieve the debris. Replays showed he collided with Alex Albon's Williams going into the braking zone. Albon retired. &nbsp;

Verstappen accelerated as racing resumed on lap six with Sainz soon showing Ferrari’s potential and then sweeping inside him to lead on lap nine at Turn One.&nbsp;

The Dutchman fought but Sainz hung on and next time round on lap 10 Norris made a move at Turn Eight where Verstappen responded by forcing him wide and off-track.&nbsp;

Norris handed the place back.

"I was ahead the whole way through the corner," said the Briton. "This guy is dangerous. I have to avoid a crash. I’ll end up in the wall."&nbsp;

As they squabbled, Leclerc moved up to second while Norris tried again at Turn Four on the next lap only to be pushed off again.

"He overtook me off-track and pushed me off," said Norris.

The stewards noted both incidents and then issued Verstappen with a 10-second penalty for fouling Norris. "That’s quite impressive," said a sarcastic Verstappen.&nbsp;

Behind the leaders two-time former champion Fernando Alonso, in his record 400th Grand Prix weekend, pitted his Aston Martin and retired after 17 laps before a second stewards' penalty for Verstappen – a further 10 seconds for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.&nbsp;

After a flurry of pit stops Verstappen climbed to sixth as Norris chased Leclerc, passing him for second on lap 63 when the Monegasque slid wide at the final corner.

With five laps to go, Norris was seven seconds behind Sainz as Hamilton finally passed Russell for fourth, setting up a frantic finale.

F1: Carlos Sainz wins Mexico Grand Prix as Verstappen penalised for ‘ridiculous’ move

German prosecutors said Wednesday they were bringing charges against three men arrested this year over a blackmail plot targeting the family of Formula One legend Michael&nbsp;Schumacher.

They said the chief suspect, a 53-year-old man from the western city of Wuppertal, had threatened to release private photos and videos, and demanded 15 million euros ($16.7 million) from&nbsp;Schumacher's family.

These allegedly included images of the seven-time Formula One champion before and after the 2013 skiing accident in the French Alps, which left him with a serious brain injury.

Schumacher, 55, has not been seen in public since.

The images allegedly came from another 53-year-old, from the western town of Wuelfrath, who worked as a security guard for the&nbsp;Schumacher&nbsp;family until 2021.

He is suspected of having sold the material for a "five figure" sum and could face a "considerable" jail term on charges of being an accomplice to attempted blackmail and breach of privacy.

Prosecutors say the chief suspect rang an employee of the&nbsp;Schumacher&nbsp;family several times in June this year to demand money.

He allegedly threatened to leak the images onto the so-called "dark net" if money was not paid.

The chief suspect faces charges of attempted blackmail with a maximum jail sentence of up to 15 years, although prosecutors say the punishment could be reduced as the threat was not followed through.&nbsp;

The Wuppertal man's 30-year-old son has been charged with being an accomplice to blackmail, as his father had asked him to create an untraceable email address.

This was used to send the&nbsp;Schumacher&nbsp;family samples of the blackmail material, prosecutors said.

The family alerted authorities in Switzerland, where&nbsp;Schumacher&nbsp;has been cared for at his family home since the accident.

Swiss investigators traced the plot to Germany through the phone number used to call the family.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc secured pole for the fourth consecutive year at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Saturday ahead of McLaren's Oscar Piastri.

As title challenger Lando Norris of McLaren qualified only 17th, the Monegasque driver, who won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in his last outing, continued his supreme single-lap form to wind up three-tenths of a second ahead of Piastri.&nbsp;

It was the 26th pole of his career at a track where he has yet to win.&nbsp;

Carlos Sainz was third in the second Ferrari and Sergio Perez fourth for Red Bull ahead of Mercedes' George Russell.&nbsp;

Three-time world champion and series leader Max Verstappen was sixth in the second Red Bull as his recent struggles continued.

Verstappen leads Norris by 62 points in the title race with eight races of the season remaining.&nbsp;

Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton was seventh for Mercedes ahead of two-time champion Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin, Argentine new boy Franco Colapinto of Williams and his team-mate Alex Albon.&nbsp;

"It's one of my favourite tracks of the season," said Leclerc.

"It hasn't been an easy weekend for me with the crash in first practice and then a problem in second practice with a new part.

"I wasnt worried, but the pace was already there and in my last lap I went for it a bit more. It is amazing to be on pole again!"

The session began in slanting sunshine across the old city by the Caspian Sea, the Mercedes duo quick to enter the fray on medium tyres for two exploratory laps of the slippery street track.&nbsp;

As the conditions improved, Leclerc produced a lap in 1:42.775 to go top while Mercedes switched to softs, Russell swiftly jumping to second and Hamilton to fourth.&nbsp;

But in a final scrabble for places, as Piastri went third behind Leclerc and Albon, Norris pitted and missed the cut, eliminated in 17th&nbsp;place ahead of only the Saubers and Alpine’s Esteban Ocon. RB's Daniel Ricciardo was also out.

It was Norris's first Q1 elimination since the Las Vegas race last year (2023).&nbsp;

"The lap was good enough, but it was a yellow flag so I had to back off," said Norris.&nbsp;

Q2 saw Verstappen on top ahead of Leclerc with Perez and Sainz third and fourth.&nbsp;

After a final flurry, Alonso rose to fifth and Colapinto to sixth while Albon hung on to 10th&nbsp;to push Bearman out in 11th&nbsp;along with RB's Yuki Tsunoda, Alpine's Pierre Gasly, Nico Hulkenberg of Haas and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll.

The top-ten shootout began with Leclerc, in 1:46.610, on top ahead of Sainz after an early lap by Russell.&nbsp;

As the final laps began, Albon left the pits with an airbox fan still attached to his Williams car. He pulled it off and threw it to a marshal.&nbsp;

This bizarre incident did not distract Ferrari or Leclerc, however, as he reeled off 1:43.365 to grab his fourth consecutive Baku pole.

Azerbaijan Grand Prix: Ferrari's Charles Leclerc on pole, Red Bull's Max Verstappen to start sixth

Lewis&nbsp;Hamilton&nbsp;on Thursday dismissed suggestions that he felt disappointed, or snubbed, by star designer Adrian Newey’s decision to join Aston Martin next year instead of leaving Red Bull for Ferrari.&nbsp; The seven-time champion insisted he felt 'privileged' to have worked with two title-winning teams at McLaren and Mercedes, without Newey, adding that it would have been 'an honour' to work with him in Italy next season.&nbsp;

"Any team probably would have been happy to have had him," said&nbsp;Hamilton&nbsp;of the 65-year-old Briton who confirmed on Tuesday, at a glitzy announcement ceremony, that he will move to Aston Martin in 2025.&nbsp; "At the end of the day, he had to do what was best for him. It doesn’t change anything for me. It doesn’t change my goal, or my focus with the next move. So, I still believe 100 per cent that there’s lots we can do there."

Newey, whose cars have claimed more than 200 Grand Prix victories and 25 championships, revealed he intended to leave Red Bull earlier this year and had been in discussions with several teams, including Ferrari, before deciding to go to Silverstone-based Aston Martin.&nbsp;

Hamilton, winner of six titles with his current Mercedes team and one with McLaren, said Newey was the person he had most wished to work with in Formula One.

Speaking in Baku ahead of this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, he was asked if he felt disappointed at seeing Ferrari miss out on signing Newey. "Honestly, no. I feel like, while I’ve mentioned before that it would be an honour to work with Adrian, I have been privileged to work with two championship-winning teams that didn’t have Adrian."

His prospective Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc said he also did not feel disappointment.&nbsp;"It’s not like we haven’t tried or spoken to Adrian,” he said. “I know that there were talks and he made his decision. I respect his decision. At the end, as Ferrari, we have always considered more the group than the individual.&nbsp;"Of course, Adrian has an incredible record and has done amazing things, but we have an amazing group and I have no doubt that we have an extremely strong team to come back at the top."

Verstappen would not be drawn on the subject on Thursday but said it was a possibility.&nbsp; "I have other worries at the moment, that I’m paying a lot of attention to, that I’m working on,” said Verstappen. “So that is something maybe for the future that I think about, but not now."

Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack, however, made no bones about his desire for the world champion to join the team.&nbsp; "The door for Max Verstappen is always open... for everything," he said. "When you manage to appoint Adrian Newey, it’s proof that the project is credible."

All 10 Formula One teams respected the cost cap on their chassis-manufacturing in 2023, although engine manufacturers Alpine and Honda both breached procedural regulations, the sport's governing body, the FIA, announced Wednesday.

"The review of the reporting documentation was a thorough and intensive process spanning five months with all F1 teams and all PU (power unit) manufacturers giving their full support in providing the required information," FIA said.

The body's Cost Cap Administration (CCA) noted "all F1 teams and all PU manufacturers acted at all times in a spirit of good faith and cooperation throughout the process".

While all 10 F1 teams were found in compliance for 2023, there were unspecified breaches for two of the four engine manufacturers: Alpine and Honda, who supplied AlphaTauri and world champions Red Bull.

The CCA said "although Alpine Racing SAS and HRC (Honda) have both been found to be in procedural breach, neither have exceeded the cost cap level".

"Both Alpine Racing SAS and HRC have acted at all times in good faith and are currently cooperating with the CCA to finalise the matter."

The cost cap came into effect after the 2021 season and was set at $140.4 million for 2023.&nbsp;

It is intended to limit spending to make the sport viable and also to close the competitive gap between big and small teams.

Formula 1 engine makers Honda and Alpine breach cost cap, announces FIA

Andrea Kimi Antonelli will be thrown in at the deep end next year after Mercedes announced on Saturday that the Italian teenager&nbsp;will replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes once the seven-time world champion jumps ship for Ferrari.

Rookie Antonelli, who celebrated his 18th birthday last weekend, will partner George Russell as he attempts what he called the "impossible" task of stepping in for F1 icon Hamilton.

"He's such a great figure in the sport of today. And he has achieved so much in his career," Antonelli told reporters.&nbsp;

"So I don't want to see it as (being) his replacement. I'm just the next driver for Mercedes in '25."

Mercedes team chief Toto Wolff said that he decided to move Antonelli up from Formula Two "five minutes after Lewis Hamilton told me that he's going to Ferrari" and that the new pairing "represent the future" of Mercedes.

"He (Hamilton) is the biggest personality in the sport, with the biggest gravitas and international recognition," said Wolff.&nbsp;

"He's also the one that has beaten all the records and when Lewis decided to go for another challenge, no one can replace him in all of his, let's say, stature.&nbsp;

"But that doesn't mean that the team is not going to prosper with two drivers that represent the future."

However, neither Wolff nor the team statement revealed for how long Antonelli's contract would run and the Austrian didn't close the door on snatching Max Verstappen from Red Bull for 2026 when asked if he discarded the idea.

"There's no discussion, there's no second thoughts about what we're doing in 2026, because now it's about 2024 and 2025," said Wolff.

"And if flirting outside happens, then they will know it before me. These guys will know it at the same time."

Antonelli was picked by Mercedes even though his first-ever F1 drive ended quickly and in spectacular fashion at Friday's first practice session for the Italian Grand Prix, smashing Russell's car into the trackside barriers at Monza with just four completed laps under his belt.

Given a chance by Mercedes to drive an F1 car, he lost control at the Parabolica turn 10 minutes into the session and seriously damaged the front end after ploughing through the gravel.

"The difference between free practice and qualifying we need to discuss," joked Wolff, who said after Friday's crash that Antonelli would get probably another chance in a Mercedes car at the Mexican GP in October.

Antonelli will join the top-tier championship after a stellar youth career which led to him being fast-tracked to F2, where he competes for Prema Racing.

He skipped F3 after winning the 2022 Italian and German F4 championships and last year's Middle East and European regional Formula championships.&nbsp;

With four rounds to go in the F2 championship Antonelli sits seventh, starting the season slowly before scoring&nbsp;his first victory in the sprint race at Silverstone at the beginning of July, before winning the main race in Budapest two weeks later.

Antonelli will carry the hopes of Italian F1 fans that one of their countryman could bring glory back to a motorsport-mad nation which hasn't had a GP winner since Giancarlo Fisichella in 2006.

The last Italian to win the drivers' championship was Alberto Ascari in 1953, although 1978 champion Mario Andretti was born in Italy even if he represented the United States.

McLaren driver Lando Norris on Saturday claimed pole position for the Dutch Grand Prix, pipping local favourite Max Verstappen into second in a thrilling qualifying session.

The British driver registered the fastest lap in one minute 9.673 seconds ahead of Verstappen's Red Bull who clocked 1min 10.029sec in windy and damp conditions on the Zandvoort circuit.

Norris's McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri will start in third place on the grid on Sunday, ahead of George Russell from Mercedes in fourth.

"We lacked a bit of pace. I'm still happy to be on the front row. It's tricky out there with the wind," said Verstappen.

"I'm happy with second. I think after yesterday, this was a good result," added the 26-year-old.

Verstappen will be competing in his 200th Grand Prix on Sunday but things did not all go his way at his home Grand Prix.

He has never been beaten in the three races held in the Netherlands since it was re-established on the circuit in 2021 and always started in pole position.

But he trailed in fifth during practice, complaining his Red Bull was lacking speed, with no clear path to improving performance.

After winning 19 races on a cruise to the 2023 world championship, Verstappen took seven of the first 10 in 2024, leaving many fearing a similar procession this year.

But he has suffered a lean spell by his own standards, without a win in the last four races -- his longest winless stretch since 2020.

He nevertheless enjoys a 78-point lead in the drivers' championship over closest rival Norris, who has admitted he faces an uphill climb to overhaul the Dutchman.

"I'm not expecting anything easy that's for sure," Norris told reporters after the qualifying.

Formula 1: McLaren driver Lando Norris grabs pole position for Dutch Grand Prix

The world of motorsport and luxury watchmaking is abuzz with reports of a significant shift in Formula 1's timekeeping partnership. According to sources cited by Sports Illustrated, the longstanding collaboration between Swiss watchmaker Rolex and Formula 1 is set to conclude at the end of 2024, marking the end of an era that began in 2011.

The prestigious partnership, which has been a fixture in the Formula 1 paddock for over a decade, initially started with an annual commitment of USD 10 million from Rolex. Over the years, this figure has reportedly grown to USD 50 million, reflecting the increasing value and global reach of the sport. Rolex's involvement has been highly visible, featuring prominent trackside branding and title sponsorship at select Grand Prix events.

As Rolex potentially steps away from Formula 1, luxury conglomerate LVMH is reportedly preparing to step in. TAG Heuer, one of LVMH's renowned watch brands, is rumoured to be taking the pole position as Formula 1's new official timekeeper starting in 2025. The proposed deal between LVMH and Formula 1 is reportedly valued at an impressive USD 150 million annually, signifying a substantial increase in investment compared to the current arrangement with Rolex. This figure underscores the growing commercial appeal of Formula 1 and the willingness of luxury brands to align themselves with the sport's global audience.

TAG Heuer is no stranger to the world of Formula 1. The brand has a rich history in motorsport, including a current partnership with Red Bull Racing and a long-standing association with the Monaco Grand Prix. Interestingly, TAG Heuer's contract with Red Bull Racing is set to expire at the end of 2024, coinciding perfectly with the rumoured start of the new Formula 1 partnership.

This potential change raises questions about LVMH's future strategy in Formula 1. It remains to be seen whether the luxury group will maintain its relationship with Red Bull Racing or opt to focus entirely on a comprehensive Formula 1 sponsorship. The substantial investment suggests that LVMH may be looking to maximize its presence across the entire sport rather than aligning with a single team.

For Rolex, the reported departure from Formula 1 comes at a time when the brand continues to maintain significant sponsorships in other sports, notably its longstanding partnership with the Wimbledon tennis tournament. This move may indicate a shift in Rolex's marketing strategy or a reallocation of resources to other high-profile events.

As the Formula 1 community awaits official confirmation of these changes, the potential transition from Rolex to TAG Heuer as the sport's official timekeeper marks a significant moment in the intersection of luxury brands and motorsport. The reported USD 150 million annual commitment from LVMH not only highlights the enduring appeal of Formula 1 as a global marketing platform but also sets the stage for a new chapter in the sport's commercial partnerships.

Rolex-Formula 1 partnership reportedly ending

George Russell beat Lewis Hamilton to secure pole as their Mercedes team reeled off a front row lockout in Saturday's tense qualifying session for Sunday's British Grand Prix.&nbsp;

The two Britons were given a wild ovation by the crowd who saw a third Briton Lando Norris of McLaren take third to deliver the first one-two-three by British drivers at their home race.&nbsp;

It was the first British triple top in qualifying at any race since the 1968 South African Grand Prix.&nbsp;

Russell grabbed pole in one minute and 25.819 seconds to beat seven-time champion Hamilton by 0.171 seconds in the final minute as the track improved, the trio leaving series leader and three-time champion Max Verstappen to qualify fourth in his slightly damaged Red Bull.&nbsp;

Oscar Piastri was fifth in the second McLaren ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Haas, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, Lance Stroll of Aston Martin, Alex Albon of Williams and two-time champion Fernando Alonso in the second Aston Martin.&nbsp;

Norris admitted that he had made a mistake on his final lap, which led to him aborting it, while Hamilton said it was a "huge" reward for the team for their work to recover competitive form and congratulated Russell.&nbsp;

Russell said that it was down to the Silverstone fans who had braved miserable weather to see a British triumph.&nbsp;

"What a crowd and what energy!" he said over the team radio.

Later the winner in Austria last time out added: "What a feeling, at the start of this year I don't think we could of even dreamt of being on pole here, one-two for me and Lewis, and Lando it's just mega.

<h2>Luckless Perez</h2>

After a morning of blustery winds and heavy intermittent rain, not to mention a lively rumour mill, the session began in watery sunshine.

The luckless Sergio Perez, on softs, spun off into the gravel at Copse and out of the session in his Red Bull.&nbsp;

His future with the team was the subject of much speculation beforehand and this intensified with this latest misfortune. It was his third Q1 exit of the season after similar in Monaco and Canada.&nbsp;

Perez had contributed only 15 points for Red Bull from the last five races – they totalled 116 thanks to Verstappen – and this prompted McLaren boss Zak Brown to suggest his fallibility was enabling McLaren to bid for the teams’ title.

The Q1 session was red-flagged for nine minutes before the action resumed with Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas going top by five seconds before others on slicks clocked improved ‘slick’ times as rain approached.&nbsp;

In the midst of this, Verstappen went off at Copse, but recovered, falling to an endangered 15th&nbsp;before responding in a frantic finale which saw Bottas, Kevin Magnussen of Haas, Alpine's Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly eliminated along with Perez.

The Williams cars led the way into Q2, Logan Sargeant under pressure to keep his seat, with all on slicks. On his first run, Verstappen, carrying damage, was only seventh as Norris and then Alonso set the pace ahead of Sainz and Hamilton.

In drying conditions, Sainz, Piastri Hulkenberg, Russell and Norris went top as everyone improved, Verstappen falling to 11th&nbsp;from where he rescued himself to go sixth.&nbsp;

A late surge by Stroll saw Leclerc drop to 11th&nbsp;and miss Q3 along with Sargeant, RB’s Yuki Tsunoda, Zhou Guanyu of Sauber and Daniel Ricciardo in the second RB.&nbsp;

Albon, Verstappen and Piastri were first out for Q3, as the sun struggled to shine, but it was the British trio again, Russell, Norris and Hamilton who topped the first flying runs ahead of Piastri and Verstappen.&nbsp;

Russell led by 0.006 seconds, a blink, as they returned on fresh rubber for the final laps when after Norris pulled out to pit and Russell went top in a Mercedes one-two, with Norris third and Verstappen fourth.&nbsp;

It was the first time three British drivers had taken the top three places in qualifying at their home event and for Russell the second pole of the season, having done the same a week earlier in Austria.

Depending on the result of the next race in London this month, Formula E championship will be decided after Antonio Felix da Costa moved to the fifth place after the Portland double-header where he claimed two wins. Another win in his third straight Oregon triumph, and fourth in five races, moved the Portuguese driver to fourth overall with 134 points total, all while being categorised as the most successful driver of the season with wins.

On the other hand, Jaguar’s leading contender, Nick Cassidy, did not achieve any result in the U. S. round, which allowed his team-mate Mitch Evans and the Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein to put the distance to 155 points each. As many as 58 points are still to be awarded with the two final races set for July 20 and 21 in London, which means the title race is still on. Indeed, in Formula E, much like in Formula One, drivers’ scores 25 points for victory and more points for a pole position as well as for the fastest lap.

In the teams’ point, Jaguar tops with 322 points while Porsche occupies the second position with 289 points. Cassidy is confidence even as the latest results may seem to indicate otherwise, he reminds his lead man of his performance, or lack of it, in the last two races where he scored zeros. Despite the disappointment at Hungaroring, Rosberg insists he, and his teammates, are looking forward to the two races in London, which he has a particular like for and expects a tough fight at.

Cassidy struggled in Portland, making a mistake to spin off the lead on the last lap of Saturday’s race, while on Sunday also collided which forced him to pit and had to repair the car. But a safety car period on lap 19 enable him to come back to the pack from 17th place of the race, a fact that depicted the fluidity and unpredictability of Formula E before the seasons reaches a climax.&nbsp;

Formula E title battle goes down to London finale

McLaren's Lando Norris said he would lose respect for Max Verstappen if the Red Bull driver did not apologise for a collision that wrecked their Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday. The pair are friends off-track but fierce rivals on&nbsp;Formula&nbsp;One&nbsp;race weekends and that boiled over at Spielberg's Red Bull Ring as they fought for the lead.

Stewards ruled triple world champion Verstappen was predominantly at fault for causing the collision and handed him a 10 second penalty, which had no impact on his result, as well as two penalty points. Verstappen, who dropped from first to fifth but now leads Norris by 81 points after 11 races, declared the penalty ridiculous and was backed up by Red Bull team boss Christian Horner.

"He (Norris) didn’t behave correctly there Max. Desperately unlucky, especially here, but you did your very best," he said over the team radio.

A disappointed Norris, who retired with a puncture and car damage, said it was a tough&nbsp;one&nbsp; to take and accused Verstappen of being reckless and desperate in his driving. "It depends what he says. If he says he did nothing wrong, then I lose a lot of respect for that," he told Sky Sports television when asked if their relationship would change.

McLaren boss Andrea Stella suggested Verstappen's behaviour, and moving while braking, was the result of the sport's rules being inadequately enforced years ago. "The problem behind it is that if you don’t address these things honestly, they will come back," the Italian said.

"They have come back today because they were not addressed properly in the past when there was some fights with Lewis (Hamilton in 2021) that needed to be punished in a harsher way. "We have so much respect for Red Bull, so much respect for Max, they don't need to do this. It's a way to almost compromise your reputation. Why would you do that?," added Stella.

"The regulations must be enforced in a way that is effective, because when a car is out of the race as a consequence of this accident the punishment needs to be proportionate to the outcome."

Austrian GP: Lando Norris says he will lose respect for Max Verstappen without apology

George Russell sneaked in a top podium finish at the Austrian Grand Prix after Max Verstappen and Lando Norris dramatically collided at the fag end of the race to gift the position to the Mercedes driver. McLaren's Oscar Piastri&nbsp;came in home P2 while Ferrari's Carlos Sainz held off Lewis Hamilton to secure the final podium position.&nbsp;

It was a disappointing home race for Red Bull and championship leader Verstappen who&nbsp;had to settle for the fifth position after being handed a 10-second penalty for allegedly making late moves under braking. Meanwhile, Norris was forced to retire after the back-and-forth battle with Verstappen led to a destroyed right rear for the McLaren car.&nbsp;

The incident transpired on uphill Turn 3 with seven laps to go in the 71-lap contest. Norris went to the left of Verstappen to take the racing line but the front right of Norris collided with the rear left of Verstappen. However, afterwards, the Dutch driver could be seen veering towards the left which caused significant damage to Norris' car.&nbsp;

Prior to the collision, Norris also received a five-second penalty for&nbsp;traversing track limits which ultimately counted for nothing as he had to retire the car.&nbsp;

The Red Bull driver managed to win the Spanish Grand Prix by the skin of his teeth and if it wasn't for a slow start from Lando Norris, may have very well lost the race. Quizzed ahead of the Austrian grand Prix, Verstappen's home race, the three-time world champion said he intended to stay at Red Bull, despite overtures from Mercedes. "I think I've said this before. Naturally, of course, people are talking but it's most important just that we just have a very competitive car for the future," said Verstappen. "At the moment, of course, it is very tight but we are working very well as a team to try and improve more. For sure, I said this already with the team, we are working and focusing also on next year to try and be competitive again," he added. Pressed by the media if it meant that Red Bull was not the fastest car on the grid anymore, Verstappen clarified: "I don't think that's how Formula 1 works where then suddenly you could say 'well, bye guys!' It's not how it works." Verstappen added that he and the team had already started working on next year's car. "I've got a long contract with the team, I'm very happy where I'm at and, like I said before, we are focusing already on next year with things that we can implement on the car. So, I guess that should say enough of where I'm driving next year." Verstappen, however, kept up with the pace and managed to take the inside line to go past the British driver a few minutes later on lap 3. Norris lost the opportunity to win the race after the team took the gamble of staying out, behind Russell while the likes of Verstappen and Hamilton preferred to pit early. Norris lost nearly four seconds sitting behind Russell and later had to endure a slow pit exit, which contributed to a second-place finish. Despite the second-finish, experts are of the view that McLaren may have eclipsed Red Bull which has installed new upgrades in the car in recent months. The upgrades, however, have failed to provide any significant advantage to Verstappen or his teammate Sergio Perez. (With inputs from agencies)

German authorities said Monday (Jun 23) they had arrested a father and son on suspicion of trying to blackmail the family of the former Formula One driver Michael Schumacher.

The suspects contacted family representatives claiming to have files the Schumachers "would not want to have published", prosecutors in the western German city of Wuppertal said in a statement.

"To stop the files being published online, the perpetrators demanded a payment in the millions," the prosecutors said.

The suspects transferred "individual files" to the family to show they had access to sensitive documents, prosecutors said.&nbsp;

The seven-time world champion has not been seen in public since he suffered a serious brain injury in a 2013 skiing accident in the French Alps.

Investigators in Germany were tipped off about the case by authorities in Switzerland, where Schumacher has been cared for at the family home since the accident.

"Technical measures" made it possible to trace the alleged extortionists to Wuppertal, they said.

The two suspects, who were on probation in another case, were arrested by police on June 19 in a supermarket parking lot in Gross-Gerau, south of Frankfurt, prosecutors said.

Formula One's Mercedes team has called in police to investigate an 'anonymous' email sent to some F1 representatives. The email accuses Mercedes of 'deliberately sabotaging' outgoing driver Lewis Hamilton's car.

It is to be noted that the email was sent to same representatives who had received leak about Red Bull boss Christian Horner's sexual misconduct. The email sender claims to be a former team member.

The contents of the email message also suggest that Mercedes have intentionally put Hamilton on harm's way at recent events. It is to be noted that Hamilton is all set to leave Mercedes in 2025 to join Ferrari. &nbsp;

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, however, has not reacted to the message kindly and asked for a full-fledged inquiry in the matter.

"It is not from a member of the team; when we are getting these kinds of emails, and we are getting tons of them, it is upsetting, particularly when someone is talking about death and all these things," Wolff said on Friday.

"On this particular one, I have instructed to go full force with police inquiring it, researching the IP address, researching the phone number, because online abuse in that way needs to stop. People can't hide behind their phones, or their computers, and abuse teams or drivers in a way like this," he added.

Hamilton was also asked about the same at Thursday's Media Day to which he replied: &nbsp;"We're all in the same boat, we're all working hard together and we all want to finish on a high. We owe that to our long-term relationship."

Hamilton, however, said that he had not yet seen the mail which was sent last week.

In the ongoing season, Mercedes is fourth on the constructor's championship with 124 points. As for Hamilton, he's eighth on driver's standings with 55 points.

Red Bull Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner has clapped back at Mercedes after Max Verstappen won the Canadian Grand Prix. Horner responded to Mercedes technical director James Allison who claimed that Red Bull had made their car slower by introducing new updates.&nbsp;

Verstappen won the race in Montreal when pundits and fans had expected him to struggle, especially after Red Bull's weakness on the kerbs came to light in the last few weeks.&nbsp;

"Even with our downgrade, we managed to beat their upgrade. It was a rewarding race to win. The last couple of races have been more choppy waters for us, but we have still managed to win two out of the last three races," said Horner.&nbsp;

“We had a pole in Imola, we managed to match the pole time here with a car that both drivers are feeling its deficiencies. So there is a lot of focus on that to see if we can improve that," he added.&nbsp;

Horner played down Mercedes' performance in the Canadian GP saying the German team had always done well in green circuits where there are no real high-speed corners.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<h2>What did Allison say?</h2>

In the lead-up to the race, Allison reckoned that RB20 and the big upgrade package attached to it had done more harm to the car that was touted vastly ahead of the pack at the start of the season.&nbsp;

“It does look as if their upgrade was a downgrade. So, fingers crossed that would really mess them up," said Allison.

"That [an upgrade not working] makes life hard, because the moment you stop trusting your tools, you have to backtrack, and you lose loads of time. Time is your biggest friend, losing it is your worst enemy," he added.&nbsp;

Red Bull Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner has clapped back at Mercedes after Max Verstappen won the Canadian Grand Prix. Horner responded to Mercedes technical director James Allison who claimed that Red Bull had made their car slower by introducing new updates. Verstappen won the race in Montreal when pundits and fans had expected him to struggle, especially after Red Bull's weakness on the kerbs came to light in the last few weeks. "Even with our downgrade, we managed to beat their upgrade. It was a rewarding race to win. The last couple of races have been more choppy waters for us, but we have still managed to win two out of the last three races," said Horner. “We had a pole in Imola, we managed to match the pole time here with a car that both drivers are feeling its deficiencies. So there is a lot of focus on that to see if we can improve that," he added. Horner played down Mercedes' performance in the Canadian GP saying the German team had always done well in green circuits where there are no real high-speed corners. In the lead-up to the race, Allison reckoned that RB20 and the big upgrade package attached to it had done more harm to the car that was touted vastly ahead of the pack at the start of the season. “It does look as if their upgrade was a downgrade. So, fingers crossed that would really mess them up," said Allison. "That [an upgrade not working] makes life hard, because the moment you stop trusting your tools, you have to backtrack, and you lose loads of time. Time is your biggest friend, losing it is your worst enemy," he added. 'We still won': Red Bull's Christian Horner claps back at Mercedes for 'downgrade' comment

Max Verstappen eased the pressure on Sunday when he completed a hat-trick of victories at the Canadian Grand Prix to consolidate his early-season lead in the drivers' championship.

After being beaten in two of the previous three races, the series leader and three-time champion bounced back to his competitive best, with the aid of excellent calls from his team in a tactical race, to win by 3.879 seconds ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris.

Mercedes' George Russell, who started from pole position, finished third ahead of a fast, but frustrated team-mate in seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton.

Verstappen scored his third consecutive triumph at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and the 60th win of his career, having started second on the grid and, at times, riding his luck in a dramatic contest featuring two Safety Car interventions.

"That was a pretty crazy race and a lot of things were happening,"said Verstappen. "We had to keep on top of our calls and as a team we did really well today. We remained calm and we pitted at the right time."

With both Ferraris failing to finish – just two weeks after Charles Leclerc claimed an emotional win in his home Monaco Grand Prix – Verstappen's success lifted him 56 points clear of the Monegasque driver in the title race.

Hamilton, who was self-critical after the race, was passed by Russell in the closing laps, but finished ahead of fifth-placed Oscar Piastri in the second McLaren and two-time champion Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin.

Local hope Lance Stroll was seventh in the second Aston Martin ahead of RB's Daniel Ricciardo and the two Alpines of Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.

"A lot of fun," said Norris, who, with Piastri, brought McLaren their first points in Canada since 2014 on the 56th anniversary of the team's first win, with Bruce McLaren, at the 1968 Belgian Grand Prix.

"It was wild. It was chaotic. It was eventful. To be honest, I felt like I drove a good race, the whole time, from start to finish. These conditions are so stressful inside the car, but very enjoyable at the same time."

Russell said: "That was an ugly race on my behalf and I am sorry for that. It feels like a big missed opportunity to be honest. We had a fast car this weekend."

Formula 1: Max Verstappen gets back to winning ways at rain-hit Canadian Grand Prix

Triple World Champion Max Verstappen returns to winning ways in Formula 1. The Dutchman took the chequered flag in a chaotic Canadian Grand Prix for the third year in a row. Mclaren's Lando Norris came second while George Russell of Mercedes completed the podium.

F1: Max Verstappen completes a hat-trick in Canada

Mercedes driver George Russell secured the pole position at the Canadian Grand Prix on Saturday (Jun 8) despite Red Bull's Max Verstappen finishing Q3 with the same time. It was only the second instance in F1 history that two drivers could not be separated after finishing the session with identical timings upto three decimal&nbsp;points.&nbsp;

Russell was first out in the qualifying&nbsp;lap and set a time of 1:12:000 which was matched by Verstappen who took to the circuit after him. The rules dictate that the driver who sets the best lap time first, gets the honour of starting the race at the top of the grid.&nbsp;

"If two or more drivers set identical times during Q1, Q2 or Q3 or SQ1, SQ2 or SQ3, priority will be given to the driver who set it first," reads the&nbsp;fourth paragraph of Article 39.4 of the FIA F1 Sporting Regulations.&nbsp;

The last time such an unlikely coincidence took place was in Jerez 1997 when Michael Schumacher, Jacques Villenuve and Heinz-Herald Fretzen finished qualifying with identical timings of 1:21.072.

At the time,&nbsp;Villeneuve secured the pole position and the next day went on to win the world championship after the well-known controversy with Schumacher.&nbsp;

Speaking after locking the front row position, an elated Russell said:&nbsp;"Amazing. It feels so good. First step done, but now obviously we've got our eyes on that win."

As for Red Bull, advisor Helmut Marko revealed that it was perhaps not warming up the tyres sufficiently that&nbsp;cost Verstappen the pole.&nbsp;

“I think we can be satisfied with this result, especially after the events in the second free practice.&nbsp;It was about how you warm up your tyres and I think the warm-up lap in Q3 was just too fast," said Marko.&nbsp;

The telemetry revealed that Russell was fast in straights and took the advantage in the third sector while Verstappen struggled on the kerbs.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Explained: Forgotten F1 rule that gave pole to George Russell over Max Verstappen after both set the same time

Daniel Ricciardo has hit back at Jacques Villeneuve after the 1997 Formula 1 champion slammed the Australian for still having a spot on the grid. After Ricciardo earned P5 in the Canadian Grand Prix qualifying session on Saturday (Jun 8), the Visa Cash App RB driver did not hold back and gave it fair and square to Villeneuve.

After Ricciardo earned P5 in the Canadian Grand Prix qualifying session on Saturday (Jun 8), the Visa Cash App RB driver did not hold back and gave it fair and square to Villeneuve. Ricciardo said Villeneuve always talked a lot and that he 'won't give him the time of day', especially when he had locked a top grid position. "I still don't know what he said, but I heard he's been talking but he always does. I think he's hit his head a few too many times. I don't know if he plays ice hockey or something," Ricciardo told the media. "I won't give him the time of day. Top five. I've been quick all weekend. Less than two-tenths from pole. So, eat sh*t," he added. Villeneuve said Ricciardo had not achieved anything substantial in the sport and that his best seasons came against a past-prime Sebastian Vettel and a young Max Verstappen still finding his footing in the sport. "Why's he still in F1? Why? We are hearing the same thing now for the last four or five years," Villeneuve, 53, told SkySports. "'We have to make the car better for him'. Sorry, it's been five years of that. No, you are in F1. Maybe you make that effort for Lewis Hamilton who has won multiple championships. You don't make that effort for a driver that can't cut it," he added. Villeneuve signed off saying Ricciardo's PR value had still kept him in the sport. "You talk about those first two seasons, he was beating a (Sebastian) Vettel that was burnt out and trying to invent things. Then he was beating for half a season an 18-year-old (Max) Verstappen. He stopped beating anyone after that. I think his image has kept him in F1 more than his actual results." Ricciardo, 34, made his debut in F1 in 2011 and immediately impressed with his clever handling of the car. He won his first race in Canada in the 2014 season and finished third in the overall standings at the end of the campaign. However, the 'Honey Badger' as he is nicknamed, is currently struggling and fighting for his career in the sport. Despite having an impressive 32 race podiums on his resume, Ricciardo has underperformed this season, with teammate Yuki Tsunoda finishing ahead of him in all but one race. Ricciardo's last race win came at Monza when he was still with McLaren in 2021. (With inputs from agencies)

Formula 1: 'Eat s**t!' Daniel Ricciardo hits back at Jacques Villeneuve over criticism

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur recently opened up on how the dynamic between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc would be from 2025 season. With Hamilton set to leave Mercedes and become a part of Ferrari from next season, he will be partnering with Leclerc, who recently won the Monaco Grand Prix. Thus, Vasseur opined on this and stated that he prefers having two strong drivers rathan than just one.&nbsp;

While Hamilton has been struggling of late, he remains the most successful F1 driver on the grid in terms of race and championship wins. Leclerc, on the other hand, has been performing well in 2024 with a win in Monaco. He occupies the second spot in the drivers' championship table this season, with Hamilton at eighth, after the first eight races. Thus, many have their eyes on how Leclerc and Hamilton would fair against each other on and off the track from the next season.

Speaking to Motorsport.com, Vasseur stated that having&nbsp;Leclerc and Hamilton on their side will only help Ferrari in collecting championship points. The team principal said, "I don't think so, because I think you have a kind of mutual benefit into the team, and we are getting probably more points with two drivers than with one and a half."

He further added, "I am really convinced that I prefer having two strong ones than not. For sure, you can imagine the fact that you have two drivers and a potential of points for the team you are speaking about two. But I am sure that the potential of points for the team with two good drivers is much higher than with one and a half. That's my view."

When Hamilton's move to Ferrari was confirmed early this year, with him replacing Carlos Sainz, Leclerc revealed that he had contacted the Briton driver and is looking forward to working with him.

Speaking to F1.com, the 26-year-old had said, "Well, obviously these kind of deals are not finalised overnight, so it takes of course time. I was aware of those discussions before signing my [new] deal. It didn’t come out as a surprise after signing."

He added, "We’ve had discussions with Lewis, especially when everything was announced and official. We texted each other of course. As I said, Lewis is a great champion with a lot of experience and so much success. It’s always interesting to have a new team mate as you learn different ways of working and of driving. Even more so when my new team mate is a seven-time world champion."

Formula 1: Sergio Perez agrees to two-year contract extension with Red Bull

Formula One driver Esteban Ocon and constructor Alpine have agreed to part ways at the end of the 2024 season, the French constructor announced Monday (Jun 3) in a statement.

"We would like to firstly thank Esteban for his commitment to the team for the past five years. During his time, we have celebrated some fantastic moments together, the best of which coming at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix with a memorable race win," said Alpine team principal Bruno Famin.

Frenchman Ocon won his first, and the constructor's first, Grand Prix in Budapest in 2021.

"We wish Esteban the very best for the next chapter of his driving career when that moment comes," added Famin.

"I've crossed paths with so many inspiring individuals in my time here and there are too many people to thank for their hard work, passion, and dedication to the cause," said the 27-year-old driver.

"We had many ups and certainly some downs, but all I can say is that it was an honour racing alongside you, whether you were at the factories or trackside.

"Still, there is a long way to go this season and my focus and energy is 100 percent dedicated to this team."

Ocon added that "news would be announced in due course" regarding his future going into the next F1 season.

At last month's Monaco Grand Prix, Ocon drew the ire of Alpine management when his attempt to overtake team-mate Pierre Gasly resulted in a racing-ending collision.

Formula 1: Esteban Ocon to depart Alpine after a string of poor performances

Charles Leclerc finally broke his Monaco Grand Prix curse on Sunday (May 26) as Red Bull had an off weekend with Max Verstappen sixth and Sergio Perez crashing out on the first lap.

Leclerc ended years of frustration at his home race by taking the jewel in the Formula One calendar from pole in his third attempt.
