La Liga leaders Barcelona visit Levante on Sunday with the cloud of in-form Ousmane Dembele's latest misdemeanour hanging over them.

Dembele, who joined the club in the wake of Neymar's departure to Paris St Germain last summer for €105 million, has had a number of off-field issues since joining Barca and local media reports said he was hit with a large fine for arriving late for training this week.

On the field Dembele has been impressive of late, netting three goals in his last five games including the opener in his side's 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in midweek.

Coach Ernesto Valverde has refused to be drawn on the matter, however, teammate Carles Alena suggest the Frenchman is ready to change his attitude for the good of his career.

"We have to look after Dembele," he said. "He apologised in front of the whole team and he knows he made a mistake.

"He won't arrive late anymore. He's committed some errors but he knows that and he's going to correct them. We can't kill him for it. The important thing is how much he's giving us on the pitch. And when he improves those small things (off the pitch), he'll give us more.

"It was nice to see the reception he got from the fans when he went off. We appreciate that he got the support he needed from the supporters and we are with him until the end."

Barca are three points ahead of Sevilla and Atletico Madrid and five better off than fourth-placed Real Madrid who host second-bottom Rayo Vallecano still smarting from their heaviest ever European home defeat -- a 3-0 loss to CSKA Moscow.

Coach Santiago Solari believed that result was just a blip in the road. "I think each game is different," he said.

"We played well in the opening half hour but just couldn't get the goal and from there on in we just didn't react well enough. They punished every mistake we made."

It remains to be seen whether forward Gareth Bale, who picked up a knock in the victory after coming on as a halftime substitute, will be fit for the game.

Elsewhere, Atletico visit Valladolid on Saturday, while second-placed Sevilla visit Girona in Sunday's early kickoff.

The weekend's action concludes with a Basque derby on Monday as Eibar host Athletic Bilbao.

Barca visit Levante with Dembele in spotlight again

The Professional Footballers' Association said Monday it stood "shoulder to shoulder" with Raheem Sterling after the Manchester City player suffered alleged racial abuse during his side's defeat against Chelsea.

Chelsea and the police are investigating the incident at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, which was highlighted on social media.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Sterling accused British newspapers of helping to "fuel racism" with the way they portray young black footballers.

Simone Pound, PFA head of equality and diversity, said: "Football is a microcosm of society and incidents such as this highlight the current political climate.

"Raheem has made a stand by speaking out and we stand shoulder to shoulder with him against the discrimination of which he speaks."

A statement from the organisation on Monday added: "The PFA condemn, in the strongest terms, the increase in racial abuse our members have been receiving from the terraces.

"We encourage all clubs to take the strongest possible action for fans found guilty of racially abusing players.

"We commend Raheem for his professionalism during the incident and the statement he made via Instagram on Sunday," it added.

"We stand with him in calling for the press to consider the coverage of all footballers carefully, and to end their imbalanced coverage aimed at young, black players."

In his Instagram post Sterling, 24, referred to a story from January about City teammate Tosin Adarabioyo reportedly buying an expensive house despite never having started a Premier League match.

"The young black kid is looked at in a bad light. Which helps fuel racism an(d) aggressive behaviour," Sterling wrote.

"So for all the newspapers that don't understand why people are racist in this day and age all I have to say is have a second thought about fair publicity an(d) give all players an equal chance."

The PFA was also critical of the media's portrayal of Sterling, who has previously faced negative publicity, often for non-football issues.

"We have been aware for a few months of the targeting Raheem faces in the press -- it is evident that he is often singled out and treated more harshly than his colleagues," its statement said.

"As such, these stories are fuelling racism within the game, as reports of racist abuse continue to rise."

Former England and Liverpool player John Barnes was the victim of persistent racism during his playing days, including monkey chants and having bananas thrown at him.

The 55-year-old feels prejudice and discrimination extend far beyond football and stems from "hundreds of years of indoctrination".

"When people talk about, 'Oh isn't that terrible what happened to Raheem Sterling?', you speak to black people in the inner cities and they say 'this is what we go through every single day'," Barnes told the BBC.

"It's not a surprise to us. It's prevalent in society as you go into the inner cities and see how disenfranchised and what a lack of opportunities there are for members of ethnic minorities."

Villarreal on Monday have sacked coach Javi Calleja with the club just three points above the relegation zone in La Liga, the club said.

A former Villarreal midfielder, Calleja took over as coach in September 2017, leading the Yellow Submarine to a fifth-placed finish and Europa League football last season.

However, this campaign the club has struggled, winning just once in La Liga since September and progress through to the knockout stages in Europe is still in the balance.

"Villarreal has decided to rescind Javi Calleja’s contract as first team coach. The club would like to thank the coach for his work, dedication and professionalism since taking over last season," read a club statement.

His successor has not yet been named, however, the club has suggested one will be appointed "in the coming hours."

Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho netted a late goal to give the Bundesliga leaders a 2-1 win at bitter rivals Schalke 04 in the Ruhr valley derby on Saturday and send them nine points clear.

The 18-year-old, who has scored five goals and set up six in a sparkling season so far, started a quick move down the left and then deftly slotted home the winner in the 74th minute to give Dortmund their first win over Schalke since 2015.

England international Sancho had missed training earlier this week to return to England due to a death in the family.

"It was a very hard week for him," said Dortmund coach Lucien Favre.

"Jadon returned from London only yesterday evening. But he really wanted to play."

Dortmund's Thomas Delaney had earlier silenced the 60,000 crowd with a glancing header in the seventh minute after Marco Reus whipped a free kick into the box.

Bundesliga leading scorer Paco Alcacer then came close with a powerful shot as the visitors confirmed their title favourites tag with a dominant opening period.

The Royal Blues' fate looked to have been sealed late in the first half when their last fit forward, Guido Burgstaller, who had their best chance on the half-hour, had to go off injured.

However last season's runners-up, already missing injured forwards Mark Uth, Franco di Santo and Breel Embolo, earned a surprise penalty to level through Daniel Caligiuri on the hour.

Sancho then completed another fine performance to secure a fifth straight league win that lifted undefeated Dortmund to 36 points, nine ahead of second-placed Bayern Munich, who beat Nuremberg 3-0. Schalke dropped to 13th on 14 points.

"Schalke were well organised and it was hard in the first half," said Favre, who is now unbeaten in his 14 league games in charge of Dortmund. "My team stuck with it after the penalty and that was crucial. We deserved the win today."

What is behind the fierce rivalry between River Plate and Boca Juniors?

The manager and CEO of Schalke 04 said that his club can be the first team to defeat Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund when they play their arch rivals in Germany's Ruhr derby on Saturday.

While speaking to the media, Domenico Tedesco said, "I think in our team we have 85 per cent of the players who have experienced the derby. But basically both teams have changed, we have changed and Dortmund have changed."

"I think the biggest lynchpin at BVB is Marco Reus, when he's on his game then Dortmund are on a different level. He was there in our home game (last season) but after a long injury and now he's back on his game and I think for Dortmund he's an important player."

This is the first time in six years Dortmund go into the derby top of the table, but they last won at the Veltins Arena half a decade ago.

The troubled Copa Libertadores final between Argentina's two biggest clubs ran into more problems on Saturday when River Plate said they rejected the decision to face Boca Juniors in Madrid in the postponed second leg.

In the latest twist to the saga, River, the home team, said it was "incomprehensible" that the fixture should be played outside Argentina, although the club stopped short of saying they would refuse to play.

The hugely-anticipated match at River Plate's Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires was called off on Nov. 24 after the Boca team bus was attacked with stones and bottles as it approached the ground.

Several players were hit by shattered glass and some were affected by tear gas or pepper spray.

The match was rescheduled for the following day but was again postponed. The first leg in Boca's stadium had ended 2-2 one week earlier.

On Thursday the South American Football Confederation CONMEBOL announced the decision to move the game to Real Madrid's Bernabeu stadium on Dec. 9.

"River Plate reject the change of venue," the club said in a statement, adding that moving the game to Madrid "adversely affects those who bought tickets and also upsets the idea of equal conditions by taking away home advantage".

However, River did not say what action they would take if CONMEBOL stood by its decision.

River were fined $400,000 for the incidents and ordered to play their next two home matches in South American club competition behind closed doors. However, Boca have said they will appeal against the decision which they consider too lenient.

CONMEBOL ignored the appeals on Saturday and released information on ticket sales but although each team have been allocated 25,000, they must sell most of that allowance to fans outside Argentina.

"For security reasons local authorities have decided to give each team 5,000 tickets to sell to their fans in Argentina," CONMEBOL said.

The other 20,000 could be sold only to fans living abroad, CONMEBOL said in a statement. The teams must provide lists of the 5,000 names who buy the Argentina allowance.

Boca themselves were thrown out of the Libertadores in 2015 after River players were attacked with pepper spray by fans at halftime during the second leg of a knockout tie at the Bombonera stadium. Boca say they want the same standards to apply to River.

River said the attack on the bus happened outside the area which was considered the club's responsibility.

"The responsibility for the failure of the security operation was openly accepted by the highest authorities of the state," it said.

"It's incomprehensible that the most important fixture in Argentine football cannot take place in the country which is hosting the G20.

"Argentine football as a whole... cannot allow a handful of thugs to stop the Superclasico from taking place in our country."

It is the first time that the two clubs have met in the final of the competition, which is the South American equivalent of the Champions League.

From next season onwards, the final will be played in a single match at a neutral venue - a decision which CONMEBOL had already taken before last month's trouble.

River Plate reject Libertadores final in Madrid

Real Madrid produced another unconvincing display on Saturday but rode their luck to earn a 2-0 win at home to Valencia which allowed them to climb to fifth in the La Liga standings and soothe their recent troubles.

The European champions, who were humbled 3-0 by tiny Eibar last week, took a fortuitous lead when Valencia midfielder Daniel Wass nodded a Dani Carvajal cross into his own net in the eighth minute after former Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista had failed to clear the danger.

The visitors, knocked out of the Champions League in mid-week, let Madrid off the hook on three occasions in the second half when Santi Mina and Paulista failed to hit the target with glorious chances from inside the area.

Valencia's Michy Batshuayi was then denied by his fellow Belgian and former Chelsea teammate Thibaut Courtois in the Real goal and moments later, down the other end, Lucas Vazquez sealed a barely deserved yet vital win in the 83rd minute, completing a quick-fire counterattack spearheaded by the tireless Carvajal.

The win enabled Real to capitalise on Espanyol's 3-0 defeat at Getafe and leapfrog the Catalans into fifth place on 23 points, three behind La Liga leaders Sevilla who visit Alaves on Sunday and two from champions Barcelona, who host Villarreal.

Real's mood after last week's debacle in Eibar had been lifted by a 2-0 win over AS Roma which sealed top spot in their Champions League group.

They were missing Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Marcelo though Spain midfielder Isco returned to the squad after a highly-publicised exclusion against Roma but still did not make the line-up. Homegrown midfielder Marcos Llorente was rewarded for his mature display on Tuesday with another starting berth.

Llorente provided some much-needed balance to the team which has been lacking in the absence of usual anchor Casemiro, and Madrid controlled the first half without giving their fans much to get excited about besides their opening goal.

Valencia came out with renewed energy and spirit in the second half and took the game to Madrid but failed to keep their cool whenever they managed to find an opening.

"We are tired after two very demanding games but we're very happy with the victory," Carvajal told reporters.

"We had a very good first half then Valencia took a step forward in the second half and had a couple of chances but they left space open and we managed to finish them off."

Paris St Germain's head coach confirmed that two of his star players Neymar and Kylian Mbappe will be fit for their side's crunch Champions League match with Liverpool.

Thomas Tuchel told a news conference on Tuesday (November 27) that Brazilian Neymar and World Cup winner Mbappe are 'fit and ready to go', which should be a boost for the runaway French league leaders.

The two attackers missed PSG's 1-0 weekend victory over Toulouse, leaving it to Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani to score the team's winning goal.

PSG lost 3-2 to Liverpool when the teams met in September through an injury-time winner by Firmino, but mixed results for both sides since leave them eager for a win when they play their Group C match on Wednesday (November 28) at the Parc de Princes stadium in Paris.

Italian side Napoli lead the group on head-to-head, with Liverpool in second and PSG third.

Red Star Belgrade lie in fourth but are also in contention to qualify from the group after a shock 2-0 win over Liverpool earlier this month.

UEFA Champions League: Neymar, Kylian Mbappe prepare for crucial Liverpool clash

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard will miss Thursday's Europa League game against Greek side PAOK Salonika due to a minor ankle injury, but should recover in time to face Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday, manager Maurizio Sarri said.

Hazard played the full 90 minutes of Chelsea's 3-1 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and was limping towards the end, but Sarri allayed fears that the Belgium international was facing a long spell out injured.

"Hazard, of course, it is not a serious injury," the Italian told a news conference on Wednesday. "He will not be able to play tomorrow but I think he will be able to recover for the Premier League match."

Hazard has been used sparingly in Europe this season, with Sarri choosing to keep his top goalscorer fresh for the Premier League, but the manager said he was worried that the Belgian was still being overworked.

"I am worried because he had a back injury (earlier in the season) and now ankle, so he has lost a lot of training," Sarri said. "It's normal he is not at the top form of his physical condition. He has one week and a couple of matches.

"This week it is useful for him to have training. Of course he cannot play 10 matches in 30 days, so sometimes he has to rest."

Chelsea are top of Group L with 12 points from four matches and need one point from their two remaining games to secure qualification to the knockout stages as group winners.

The defeat by Tottenham was Chelsea's first loss of the season, and Sarri called on his players for a reaction, saying he wanted to see more grit from his team.

"On Saturday we played very badly, a match without determination," he said.

"We have to understand why we played against Spurs without the determination, it is not normal.

"I want to see a reaction tomorrow and on Sunday. I want to see we have learned from our mistakes."

Victor Moses, who can play in defence or on the wing, will also miss the match at Stamford Bridge because of a back problem.

Germany coach Joachim Loew said the team's demise in 2018 was unexpected but part of a normal cycle in sport and he is now focussed on what the former world champions need to do to rise again.

Germany face the Netherlands on Monday in their last Nations League group game, having already been relegated, and are looking to cap a terrible year with a good performance.

They started the year as reigning world champions and overwhelming favourites to retain the World Cup in Russia.

Yet they exited the tournament at their earliest stage in 80 years and are heading into 2019 after a German-record six defeats so far within a calendar year.

Another blow was delivered on Friday when the Dutch beat France to guarantee Germany's relegation in the inaugural Nations League competition.

"We now want to say goodbye (to 2018) with a good performance and show the fans that we are on the right track to recovery," Loew told a news conference.

"We had a decade of rising to the top and there sometimes can be a year where nothing works," said the German.

"It was something completely new for me. Now we have reached a phase where we have to renew things, improve, start from scratch. We need to draw the right conclusions and take the right measures."

Loew started several youngsters in their 3-0 friendly win over Russia on Thursday, as he looks to gradually transform his team to depend less on the core of players who won the 2014 World Cup.

He dropped central defender Jerome Boateng for the two games and left fellow world champions Thomas Mueller and Mats Hummels on the bench.

"If you think you can be in the top four in the world for over 20 years then you don't understand football. It is just like life. Sometimes you have to start lower down. We were the top team for a long time," said Loew, who has been in charge since 2006.

On Monday he will likely be without in-form winger Marco Reus, who is nursing a minor injury that also ruled him out against Russia.

"I still don't know if he will play," Loew said. "The decision will be taken tonight or tomorrow. We will see."

Referee David McNamara has been handed a three-week suspension by the English FA for asking two captains to play rock, paper, scissors to decide the kick-off before a Women's Super League (WSL) match after forgetting his coin, British media reported on Tuesday.

The incident took place ahead of Manchester City's home game with Reading on Oct. 26 and involved their England skipper Steph Houghton and visiting captain Kirsty Pearce.

A coin toss to decide who kicks off is a requirement under the Laws of the Game but McNamara left his coin in the dressing room and allowed the captains to play rock, paper, scissors to determine kick off and playing ends, the BBC reported.

"The FA can confirm that referee David McNamara has been suspended for 21 days, starting from Monday 26 November, after accepting a charge of 'not acting in the best interests of the game', a FA spokesman was quoted as saying.

"This follows an incident in the FA WSL match between Manchester City and Reading on Friday 26th October when he failed to determine which team would kick off the match by the toss of a coin, as required by the Laws of the game.

McNamara, who has the right to appeal against the FA suspension will be able to return to duty from Dec. 17.

The Indian women's football team on Tuesday qualified for the Olympic Qualifiers second round for the first time, despite going down to hosts Myanmar 1-2 in a hard-fought clash here.

The Indian women's team advanced to the second round after finishing second in Group C with four points from three matches, behind table-toppers Myanmar.

The second round of the Olympic Qualifiers will be played in April next year.

The first half of the match at the Thuwunna Stadium was an exciting affair, with both sides finding the back of the net once.

The Indian team, who went into the match with the same starting lineup from their 7-1 win against Bangladesh, was jolted after conceding a goal in just the third minute.

A cross from the right flank caused havoc in the Indian penalty area and the ball fell to Myanmar's Win Theingi Tun, whose shot deflected off an Indian defender and rolled into the net past custodian Aditi Chauhan.

However, much to their credit, the Indian women responded immediately and pushed forward for the equaliser.

Bala Devi, who scored four in the previous game, found space to shoot from a range but she lost her footing at the last moment in the eighth minute.

The next chance also fell to India's way six minutes later after Sanju charged down the left flank to collect a long-range pass from Kamala Devi and came up with a curling first-time shot. However, the Myanmar keeper was alert and made the save while conceding a corner.

The hosts, who drew their last match against Nepal, looked to catch the Indians out on the counter and created two chances in quick succession.

In the 19th minute, Myanmar hit the Indian crossbar with a long-range effort that rebounded back into play.

India continued their pursuit of the equaliser and were rewarded in the 23rd minute as Grace Dangmei broke free down the right. She was fouled just on the edge of the penalty box.

From the resulting free-kick, 19-year-old Ratanbala Devi unleashed a sizzling shot right into the top corner of the net, leaving the goalie with no chance.

Bala, playing as a playmaker, looked dangerous every time she received the ball.

The second half was also an absorbing affair, with India creating the first chance as Bala Devi's cross-cum-shot from the left flank kissed the top of the crossbar before going out of play.

After that, the home side put continuous pressure on the Indian goal but the defence stood tall in response.

In the 50th minute, Aditi showed her alertness as she dived swiftly to collect a low cross from the right and nine minutes later, produced the save of the match as she dived sharply to her left to keep out a header that seemed to be heading into the top corner of the net.

Bala had another shot saved by the Myanmar keeper but it was Aditi who was India's best player of the second half as she pulled off a number of saves, most notably in the 73rd minute as she flung to her left to palm away a low shot from the edge of the box.

The Indian resistance, however, was broken with just seven minutes to play as Nge Nge Htwe placed her shot low into the corner of the net after a quick break from the hosts.

India pressed for the equaliser till the final whistle and looked to have found one through a header from a corner but the effort, deep into injury time, was cleared off the line by the home side defenders.

Former England and Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has announced his retirement from football on Tuesday, bringing the curtain down on a 20-year professional career.

Cole, who turned 37 last week, made 716 appearances and scored 104 goals for seven clubs and completed his career with Tampa Bay Rowdies in the second-tier United Soccer League.

"After 20 years as a professional, the time has come for me to hang up my boots," Cole, who came through West Ham United's youth system, said in a statement. "It has been a dream come true. All of it.

"Whatever is next, I hope the next two decades are as special as my last 20 years as a professional have been."

Cole made his debut at West Ham aged 17 and became club captain four years later, being heralded as one of England's brightest youth prospects due to his excellent dribbling skills and flair.

He joined Chelsea in 2003, one of a number of recruits brought in following the takeover of the club by Russian Roman Abramovich but struggled to impose himself as a starter in his early days at Stamford Bridge.

However, he went on to win every domestic honour at Chelsea, including three Premier League titles and two FA Cups.

On the international stage, Cole was regarded as a member of England's 'golden generation' which included the likes of Frank Lampard, David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand.

He scored 10 goals in 56 appearances for the national side between 2001 and 2010, but never quite reached the potential he showed in his youth. Cole was often hindered by injuries throughout his career.

He was selected for the 2002, 2006 and 2010 World Cups, making his final England appearance at the latter tournament in South Africa.

Cole's career after leaving Chelsea in 2010 was limited to short uneventful spells at Liverpool, Lille, West Ham, Aston Villa and Coventry City before moving to the United States.

Having enjoyed a short stint as player-assistant coach at the Rowdies, Cole now wishes to pursue a coaching career in the near-future.

"I want to stay involved in the game. I feel I can offer a lot as a coach and have really enjoyed the opportunity to undertake some of these duties with the Rowdies," he added.

"To lend my experience to help other young footballers achieve their dreams, just like I did, is a big passion of mine."

Portugal again left out Cristiano Ronaldo, their all-time record scorer and most capped player, as coach Fernando Santos named the squad for this month’s Nations League matches against Italy and Poland on Thursday.

Santos previously omitted Ronaldo from the squad in September and October, saying the decision was taken by mutual consent as the 33-year-old was still adapting following his move from Real Madrid to Juventus.

“The only thing I will say about Ronaldo is that I hope he wins the Ballon d’Or award,” said Santos, referring to France Football magazine’s annual player of the year award.

"He deserves it and it would be an injustice if he didn't win."

Portugal visit Italy on November 17 and are at home to Poland three days later.

Santos did not say whether Ronaldo, who last played for Portugal at the World Cup in Russia, would be recalled for their following matches in March.

“It’s not just about Ronaldo, I have said that nobody is excluded,” said Santos. “It’s not worth creating a big fuss about it.”

"Only the future will tell us what is going to happen. I don't know what will happen between now and March. There will be a natural evolution... I don't have the gift of being able to guess the future."

Santos recalled four Euro 2016 winners who missed the previous callup -- Raphael Guerreiro, Jose Fonte, Andre Gomes and Joao Mario.

Portugal lead Group Three with six points from two games and a draw in Italy will see them through to the semi-finals.

Leicester City players will wear shirts with club owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha's name embroidered on them when they play their first home match since the Thai tycoon was killed in a helicopter crash, the Premier League club said.

Vichai was one of five killed in the crash near the King Power Stadium after Leicester's last home league match on October 27.

Leicester said they will pay tribute to Vichai with a video presentation when they host Burnley in the league on Saturday, while supporters have also planned a march to the venue.

Both teams will wear black armbands during the game, with a two-minute silence to be observed before the kickoff, while Leicester's players will wear the tribute shirts in the first half and shirts with a poppy emblem for the second to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.

"The Srivaddhanaprabha family and everyone at Leicester City Football Club have been deeply moved by the remarkable volume of generous and thoughtful tributes left at King Power Stadium," the club said in a statement.

"The support of our fans, our community and the football world during this darkest of weeks will never be forgotten."

Lionel Messi was on Sunday included in Barcelona's squad for Tuesday's Champions League game away to Inter Milan, little more than two weeks after breaking his arm.

The Argentinian was a surprise inclusion, although his name on the squad list was marked with an asterisk saying "the player travels without the medical all-clear".

Barca's captain and all-time top scorer was initially ruled out for approximately three weeks after sustaining the injury against Sevilla on Oct. 20, although he returned to training last week.

Coach Ernesto Valverde said on Friday he did not rule Messi out of playing against Inter, but said he was concerned about rushing the player back, especially as his side are on a winning run without their usual talisman.

Barca beat Sevilla 4-2 after Messi went off injured midway through the first half, convincingly beat Inter 2-0 at home and thrashed Real Madrid 5-1.

They beat Rayo Vallecano 3-2 on Saturday after earning a 1-0 win at Cultural Leonesa in the Copa del Rey.

Superstar sprinter Usain Bolt is adamant he can become a professional footballer despite his trial with an Australian club ending, insisting Saturday: "I still have it".

The eight-time Olympic champion's "indefinite" try-out period with the A-League's Central Coast Mariners collapsed on Friday after contract talks failed.

The club reportedly offered him only a fraction of the Aus$3 million (US$2.1 million) his managers were seeking, and the outside sponsors needed to make the deal viable could not be found.

"It's sad that it didn’t work out," the Jamaican 100m and 200m world record holder told Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper at the Derby Day horse races in Melbourne, where he arrived in a suit, sunglasses and with a gold-handled cane.

"But we parted on good terms, and that's a good thing.

"I had a great experience with them. The guys were great -- we just couldn't work out things with the contract, but hopefully I get another chance with another team."

Bolt, who retired from athletics last year, has long dreamed of becoming a soccer player and had been training with the Mariners since August, sparking global interest when he scored two goals in a pre-season friendly.

But the staunch Manchester United fan's abilities were questioned by pundits and some players and he has now had trials with clubs in Germany, South Africa, Norway, and Australia to no avail.

Asked if he would keep pursuing his quest to become a footballer despite another setback, the 32-year-old said: "For sure.

"We'll see what happens. I think people are still contacting my agent now about opportunities, so we'll see in which direction it goes.

"For me, I've learned that I still have it.

"I figure that I was improving a lot, so as you can see from the first game to the last game, I really improved and did better. I've learned that it's a little bit harder, but it's all about dedication and work with the team."

Bolt recently turned down a trial-free contract from cashed-up Maltese champions Valletta to focus on trying to make the grade in Australia.

He has been urged by the head of the Jamaican FA to return home and play for a local club, with the prospect that he could be called up for international duty.

Usain Bolt hopeful of getting 'another chance'

Manchester United substitute Marcus Rashford scored a stoppage-time winner as they came from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1 away and close the gap on the top four in an exciting Premier League clash on Saturday.

Callum Wilson had fired Bournemouth ahead in the 11th minute but they were on the back foot after in-form Anthony Martial netted his fifth goal in the last four games in the 35th and Rashford completed the comeback from close range late on.

United are in provisional seventh spot on 20 points from 11 games, two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal who host second-placed Liverpool in the day's standout fixture at 1730 GMT.

Bournemouth are sixth ahead of United on goal difference after their first home league defeat since April, when they lost 2-0 to United in the closing stages of last season's campaign.

United manager Jose Mourinho was delighted with the outcome but furious with his team's poor defending in the opening stages when they were fortunate to be only a goal down.

"The first half was a disaster," Mourinho told BT Sport. "The second half was much better. We created lots of chances and deserved to score before the 92nd minute.

"We were defensively awful. I think a few mistakes create instability. I love the song, 'attack, attack, attack' but you need to have stability when you lose the ball."

ALL AT SEA

With United's defence looking all at sea in the opening 10 minutes, Bournemouth missed three gilt-edged chances before Wilson fired the Cherries ahead with a simple tap-in following an inch-perfect low cross from the right by Junior Stanislas.

Martial levelled with a powerful left-foot shot from 11 metres, after good work by Ashley Young and Alexis Sanchez, the French forward scoring in four successive top-flight games for the first time in his career.

With United's Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku left out of the matchday squad, Martial stepped up to torment his markers in the second half as United piled on the pressure after Ander Herrera and Rashford came on for Juan Mata and Brazil midfielder Fred.

Home keeper Asmir Begovic denied Luke Shaw shortly after the break and late substitute Jesse Lingard in the 89th minute, with Bournemouth also twice clearing off the line after Young's free kick came off the woodwork and caused a goalmouth scramble.

Just when it seemed the home side would hang on, Rashford popped up in the six-yard box to chest down Paul Pogba's cross and tuck the ball past Begovic, prompting wild celebrations among his teammates although a muted reaction from Mourinho.

"I said at halftime I was the luckiest manager in the Premier League," said Mourinho who added that he thought Bournemouth should have been 5-2 or 6-2 ahead by then.

"I said it is impossible to play worse than we did so the second half will be better for sure. I really can't understand the kind of mentality that brings me more white hair!"

The elaborate funeral of Leicester City's Thai owner and duty-free mogul Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha began at a Buddhist temple in Bangkok Saturday evening, as members of Thailand's business and political elite came in black mourning garb to pay tribute to the well-connected billionaire.

The number two in Thailand's junta Prawit Wongsuwan and CP group's Dhanin Chearavanont, the richest man in the country, were seen arriving at the week-long ceremony, which begins with three days of royally-sponsored bathing rites.

Prominent figures in Thailand's music and sporting scene were also in attendance to honour the odds-defying life of Vichai, 60, who along with four others died in a helicopter accident moments after they departed the football club's pitch a week ago.

The tragic ending stunned Thais who had followed Vichai's fairytale-like success and the days since have been filled with heartfelt comments from admirers, footballers, friends and relatives.

"He's now the leader of Thai football and leader of world football because he changed a lot of things when he took the chairmanship of Leicester City," Thai football legend Kiatisuk "Zico" Senamuang told AFP outside the ceremony, his tone sombre.

"Because Leicester can show they could be champion of the Premier League, that's why anything in Thailand can happen in the future."

Vichai rose from having a single store in Bangkok to owning the duty-free King Power empire, whose shops are ubiquitous in Thailand's tourist-heavy airports.

Using the profits from his monopoly, he bought Leicester City and helped turn them from an unremarkable English club into the surprise winners of the Premier League title in 2016.

Despite his business smarts Vichai owed his ascent to canny navigation of Thailand's unpredictable politics and powerbrokers.

His links to the monarchy were reflected in the name of his company and the former king's act of royally bestowing a surname that translates to "auspicious and prosperous light".

'Honour his name'

The private funeral at Wat Thepsirin has regal touches, with an octagonal urn among the items given by the king and court musicians playing drums and flutes.

After the bathing rites Buddhist monks will recite prayers from religious texts and the body will then be kept for 100 days before cremation, though a date has not been set.

Members of the Leicester team including coach Claude Puel are due to fly to Thailand to pay their respects after what is likely to be an emotion-packed afternoon away match against Cardiff City Saturday.

"We all spoke about ... wanting to play, it's what Vichai would've wanted and that's what we are going to do," striker Jamie Vardy told Sky Sports, adding that they would "honour his name" with their performance.

Vardy, goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and captain Wes Morgan, are expected to travel to Thailand along with Puel and senior staff.

Vichai leaves behind a wife and four children, two sons and two daughters.

All five are on the executive board of King Power, which faces an uncertain future.

Vichai's youngest son Aiyawatt -- better known by his nickname "Top" -- said in an Instagram post this week that his father had "left me with a legacy to continue and I will do everything I can to carry on his big vision and dreams."

The four other crash victims were identified by British police as Nursara Suknamai -- an actress and a runner-up in Miss Thailand Universe in 2005 -- and Kaveporn Punpare, both members of Vichai's staff, pilot Eric Swaffer and passenger Izabela Roza Lechowicz.

Usain Bolt has finished his football trial at Central Coast Mariners and will leave the club after failing to agree on commercial terms, the A-League side said on Friday.

The Olympic sprint champion's mission to win a professional contract in Australia at the age of 32 dominated the A-League's pre-season and proved a marketing boost to the sleepy Central Coast region north of Sydney.

But his performances in training and trial matches over the last two months did little to remove doubts about the eight-time Olympic gold medallist's chances of making the grade.

Mariners owner Mike Charlesworth said the Mariners had been "thrilled" to have worked with the Jamaican.

"Despite the fact that we could not come to an agreement that would continue Usain Bolt's football journey with the Central Coast Mariners, we've been thrilled to have the Olympic champion sprinter and world record holder as part of our Club for these past eight weeks,” he said in a joint statement with Bolt.

The Mariners said they had worked with Bolt and his agent Ricky Simms to engage with external partners in a bid to strike a commercial deal.

"Despite several promising potential partners, both Bolt and the Central Coast Mariners have amicably concluded that they will not be able to settle on a suitable deal in a timely manner," the statement said.

Bolt thanked the club and wished them well for the new season.

"I would like to thank the Central Coast Mariners owners, management, staff, players and fans for making me feel so welcome during my time there. I wish the club success for the season ahead,” he said.

Bolt drew thousands of fans to Mariners' pre-season games that would normally struggle to draw a few hundred, and his two goals in a match against a local amateur side generated headlines worldwide.

However, it was not enough for the Mike Mulvey-coached club to produce a contract before the season started last month.

With the league's next registration period not opening until Jan. 3, that left Bolt as little more than a high-profile cheerleader.

Football Federation Australia CEO David Gallop also said he would not dig into the A-League's marquee fund to secure a contract with Bolt.

Goals in each half from Frenchmen Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial gave Manchester United a 2-1 home victory over Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

The win, a welcome boost after United's midweek Champions League loss to Juventus, moved Jose Mourinho's side above Everton into eighth place although they are still nine points behind leaders Liverpool.

United grabbed the lead in the 27th minute when referee Jonathan Moss ruled that Idrissa Gueye had brought down Martial in the box, although replays showed the Senegalese midfielder had fairly played the ball.

Pogba took his trademark slow run-up and his spot-kick was superbly saved by Jordan Pickford but the ball fell kindly to the Frenchman who slotted home the rebound.

Four minutes after halftime United doubled their advantage when Pogba resisted the temptation to shoot from the edge of the box and rolled the ball to the left for Martial who beat Pickford with a superb low curling shot into the far corner.

However, Pogba was then at fault, giving the ball away in midfield as Everton got back in the game with a Gylfi Sigurdsson penalty in the 77th. Richarlison was brought down in the box by Chris Smalling after Sigurdsson's through ball from Pogba's error.

Chelsea went second in the Premier League with an emphatic 4-0 win at Burnley on Sunday which maintained their unbeaten start to the season.

The London club are two points behind leaders Liverpool and one point ahead of champions Manchester City, who play away to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday.

Maurizio Sarri's side barely noticed the absence of Eden Hazard as Willian, starting in the Belgian's normal position on the left, scored and hit a post.

Spanish striker Alvaro Morata gave Chelsea the lead midway through a first half in which he might have netted three times.

England midfielder Ross Barkley set him up for that goal and added the second himself from outside the penalty area early in the second half.

Brazilian Willian curled the third past Burnley goalkeeper Joe Hart five minutes later and substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek completed the scoring in stoppage-time.

"For 10 minutes it was difficult at the beginning but then we played very well," said Sarri, who became the first Chelsea manager to go unbeaten in his first 10 league games in charge.

"I am very happy for Alvaro Morata and Loftus-Cheek again.

"At the end, everything is OK. We played very well in full control of the match for the last 80 minutes."

Burnley's manager Sean Dyche was left ruing another tough assignment against quality opposition following last week's 5-0 drubbing at Manchester City.

"We started very well and then we give away a poor goal from our point of view," he said.

"It was a top side doing what top sides do, they finish clinically.

"We have played two top sides back to back in City and Chelsea, who have delivered top performances and it's hard to deal with that. We aren't a million miles away."

Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart conceded nine goals in the last two games but there was little he could do to repel some fine Chelsea finishing.

Hart had made one fine save from Morata's header and seen Willian's drive hit a post before the first goal.

Barkley and Willian's goals were particularly well taken as Chelsea clocked up 24 goals from their 10 games. Only City with 26 have more.

Chelsea trash Burnely 4-0 to go second in Premier League table

Sadio Mane scored a brace of goals and Mohamed Salah continued his return to form as Liverpool moved to the summit of the Premier League with a comfortable 4-1 victory against lowly Cardiff City at Anfield on Saturday.

Salah ended any suggestion he was suffering a 'goal drought' when he converted from close range after Mane's shot was parried in the ninth minute -- his fourth goal in three matches.

Liverpool enjoyed 86 per cent possession and had 12 shots in a commanding first half, the only surprise being that Juergen Klopp's side did not add a second goal before the break.

It took until the 66th minute for Liverpool to add a second, with Mane wriggling through a couple of challenges before unleashing a fierce drive into the corner with his left foot.

Cardiff City set up a potentially nervy finish when Callum Paterson scored in the 77th minute, but Xherdan Shaqiri and Mane put the game to bed with late efforts.

Liverpool, still unbeaten and winners of eight of their 10 matches, have 26 points -- three clear of champions Manchester City who will reclaim top spot if they beat Tottenham Hotspur on Monday evening.

Neil Warnock's Cardiff side remain 17th with just five points from their opening 10 matches.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah fire Liverpool top of Premier League

Defenders Diego Godin and Filipe Luis scored as Atletico Madrid bounced back from their midweek thrashing by Borussia Dortmund with a 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad to move top of La Liga on Saturday ahead of the season's first Clasico.

Despite a stuttering start to the campaign, the poor form of both Barcelona and Real Madrid have allowed Diego Simeone's side to drag themselves to the summit after a seven-game unbeaten run in the league.

Wednesday's 4-0 thumping at Signal Iduna Park was the heaviest defeat of Simeone's seven years in charge, but Atletico put in a commanding display at the Wanda Metropolitano.

"I was convinced that they would respond in the best way," Simeone told Movistar. "Today was 90 minutes that showed good togetherness and creates enthusiasm and calmness."

The 2014 Spanish champions lead second-placed Barcelona by one point, with Real four further adrift, with the two giants to face off at the Camp Nou on Sunday.

After a frustrating first 44 minutes which saw Ruben Pardo twice go close for the visitors, Godin struck on the stroke of half-time, latching onto a loose ball to sweep home his first league goal since March 2017.

Atletico dominated after the restart and left-back Luis put the game to bed on the hour mark with a brilliant curling effort after cutting inside onto his less-favoured right foot.

Elsewhere, Valencia were held to their 10th draw of the season and fifth in a row with a goalless stalemate at Athletic Bilbao.

Marcelino's men, who finished fourth last term to qualify for the Champions League, are now just three points above the relegation zone despite having only lost one of their 10 top-flight matches so far.

Spain striker Iago Aspas scored a hat-trick as Celta Vigo thrashed Eibar 4-0 to move into the top half of the table, while Levante clinched a fourth successive league victory by beating Leganes 2-0.

Diego Godin, Filipe Luis on target as Atletico win to top La Liga table

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice, the first a penalty and the second a booming long-range shot, to give Juventus a 2-1 win at Empoli in Serie A on Saturday after their lowly opponents took a shock first-half lead.

Promoted Empoli, with one win all season and 18th in the 20-team table, stunned the visitors with a Francesco Caputo goal -- the first time Juve had trailed at halftime this season.

But the champions turned the match around after the break as Ronaldo took his league tally to seven and left his side top with 28 points out of a possible 30, seven points clear of second-placed Napoli who play on Sunday.

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, who was named in the starting lineup, suffered a problem in the warm-up and was replaced by Daniele Rugani.

Empoli played some enterprising football which belied their lowly position and took a shock lead in the 28th minute.

Afriyie Acquah ran half the length of the pitch and his pass was deflected by Juve's Rodrigo Bentancur into the path of Caputo, who curled his shot past Wojciech Szczesny.

Miralem Pjanic fired against the post as Juventus came roaring back in the second half and it was no surprise when they equalised in the 54th minute.

Empoli's Ismael Bennacer lost possession in the box to Paulo Dybala, both players went to ground, the referee awarded a penalty amid Empoli protests and Ronaldo fired a low spot kick past Ivan Provedel.

Sixteen minutes later, the Portuguese forward collected a pass outside the area and fired a dipping, swerving shot past Provedel from 25 metres.
