Former Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini called his five years at Shandong Taishan "among the best of my life" as he bid an emotional farewell to China. The 36-year-old said in September that he would leave the club in China's northeast but it is unclear what he will do next, with some reports saying he will retire.

The former Belgian international midfielder/forward won the Chinese Super League with Shandong in 2021 and was also a three-time domestic cup winner. "This is an emotional moment for me because the time has come to say goodbye," he wrote on Instagram, saying that he had "pain in my heart".

"During the last five years I have lived some of the best moments of my professional life," he wrote to his 2.5 million followers. Fellaini, who spent six years at Manchester United before leaving for China in early 2019, added: "I am also so glad and honoured to have discovered China and its amazing culture.

"Many times I have told my family and friends that my China years (of course excluding the Covid-period, which was difficult for everybody) were among the best of my life." The highlight of Fellaini's time in China was an eight-minute hat-trick, all headed goals, in a CSL match in 2020, having spent three weeks in a Chinese hospital weeks earlier with Covid.

Fellaini was part of an influx of well-known foreign players and coaches who moved to China on vast wages during the country's football boom. Those days are long gone and former Chelsea attacking midfielder Oscar is now the only player remaining in China from those heady times.

Spain substitute Jenni Hermoso scored a superb 89th minute goal to help her side snatch a 1-0 win over Italy in the Nations League on Friday as she returned to the national team for the first time since their Women's World Cup success in August.

Forward Hermoso, made a triumphant return following the kiss scandal involving former Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales and after being left out of the matches against Sweden and Switzerland in September.

Rubiales resigned last month after the allegedly unsolicited kiss on Hermoso's lips at the World Cup presentation ceremony caused outrage among players, government officials and many in wider Spanish society and raised questions over sexism in sport.

Coach Montse Tome said at the time of Hermoso's omission from the squad that she made the decision to "protect her", although she was now thrilled to have Hermoso back in the team.

"We're all very happy because we were able to win and because she (Hermoso) scored that goal," Tome told a press conference after Friday's game. "When Italy closed down, when they got more into a low block, we needed someone else, like Jenni, in there. And she scored that goal, the goal that made us all very happy."

"I would also like to say how happy I am with that goal, considering the time she has spent on the pitch. We saw her smiling and I think everyone is smiling," the coach added.

Hermoso came on in the 68th minute and collected a rebound from Alexia Putellas' shot to nudge the ball into the net for her 52nd goal as the national team's top scorer.

Spain top Nations League group four with nine points ahead of Sweden on six and Italy with three. They face bottom side Switzerland, who have yet to earn a point, on Tuesday.

Nations League: Jenni Hermoso scores 89th minute goal to help Spain beat Italy

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes should be stripped of his captaincy according to former player Roy Keane, who blasted the Portuguese international after the squad's 3-0 loss to Manchester City in Sunday's derby at Old Trafford.

"What I saw today, I would take the captaincy off Fernandes. He is not captain material," Keane said on Sky Sports. "He's whinging, he's moaning. "I would start with that because the manager can control that. He is the opposite to what I would want as a captain."

Keane, a former United captain, echoed Gary Neville's thoughts on Fernandes after the side's 7-0 thrashing at Liverpool last season, their heaviest loss since 1931.

Fernandes grew increasingly frustrated during that game in March, waving his arms wildly, falling theatrically and gesturing to manager Erik ten Hag to sub him off.

"I think some of his behaviour in the second half has been a disgrace," Neville, also a former captain at United, said that night. "(United) have not been epitomised more than Bruno Fernandes, who has been embarrassing -- a shambles -- in this game."

Fernandes was made captain last summer after Harry Maguire was stripped of the role. "Today having watched him again I would take the captaincy off him 100%," Keane said on Sunday. "I know it's a big decision, obviously they changed the captaincy with Maguire, but Fernandes is not captain material.

Mikel&nbsp;Arteta&nbsp;expects&nbsp;Arsenal&nbsp;midfielder Declan&nbsp;Rice&nbsp;to have a "beautiful"&nbsp;return&nbsp;to former club&nbsp;West&nbsp;Ham&nbsp;in Wednesday's (November 1) League Cup clash. Rice&nbsp;left the London Stadium to make a $128 million (£105 million)&nbsp;move across London to the Gunners in the close season. The England star captained&nbsp;West&nbsp;Ham&nbsp;to victory in the Europa Conference League final at the end of last season in his last game for the club he joined at the age of 14.

West&nbsp;Ham&nbsp;fans have often reserved hostile receptions for former players, with Frank Lampard enduring years of abuse after his switch to Chelsea and Paul Ince lambasted following his move to Manchester United. But on the eve of&nbsp;Rice's first trip back to&nbsp;West&nbsp;Ham&nbsp;since the transfer,&nbsp;Arsenal&nbsp;boss&nbsp;Arteta&nbsp;said he believed the 24-year-old would be given a warm welcome. "I think it is&nbsp;beautiful. I had a chance to do it a few times and then you really see what they think of you and what you left at the club." Arteta&nbsp;suggested&nbsp;Rice&nbsp;would be involved in the fourth-round tie in some way, although the Spaniard is expected to make widespread changes to rest players during a gruelling schedule of Premier League and Champions League matches.

"Every time you hear him talk about&nbsp;West&nbsp;Ham&nbsp;and what they did for him and everybody at the club, he cannot talk any higher of them, so hopefully they will be the same way towards him," he said. Liverpool&nbsp;assistant manager Pep&nbsp;Lijnders&nbsp;says&nbsp;the Merseyside club want to "achieve&nbsp;the&nbsp;impossible" as his players target winning four trophies this season. Reds stars Dominik Szoboszlai and Diogo Jota have both gone public with their belief that Jurgen Klopp's side can win the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.

Two seasons ago,&nbsp;Liverpool&nbsp;reached the cusp of a historic achievement when they lifted the FA Cup and League Cup while finishing as runners-up in the Premier League and Champions League. Lijnders&nbsp;believes Szoboszlai and Jota's upbeat assessments of&nbsp;Liverpool's trophy chances underline the mentality and high standards within the squad.

"What's not to like about Dom, huh? He just&nbsp;says&nbsp;it,"&nbsp;Lijnders&nbsp;said ahead of&nbsp;Liverpool's League Cup fourth-round trip to Bournemouth on Wednesday. "They have dreams, and who am I to stop them believing that we can&nbsp;achieve, or&nbsp;achieve&nbsp;the&nbsp;impossible?

"I don't mind that they are saying it and they show their dreams, if you compete for&nbsp;Liverpool, that should always be there."

Szoboszlai is part of a new-look&nbsp;Liverpool&nbsp;midfield, with fellow signings Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch helping to fill the void left by the close-season departures of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino.

"You cannot get a new Fabinho, a new Roberto Firmino, they are unique. You don't get a new Henderson,"&nbsp;Lijnders&nbsp;said. "You have to see what the qualities are. Take Ryan Gravenberch, we create spaces and dynamics for his qualities to shine.

Ireland secured promotion to League A of the Women's Nations League with a 1-0 win over Albania on Tuesday, but had to come through torrential rain, thunderstorms, and a pitch which resembled a lake. "Wettest game in history but job done and top of the group with the girlsss," Ireland captain Katie McCabe posted on Instagram after the match in Shkoder.

"Ballon Pour," Ireland team mate Louise Quinn commented under the post, a reference to McCabe, like many others, missing the Ballon d'Or ceremony on Monday despite her nomination. McCabe scored a hat-trick when these two sides met in Dublin last Friday as Ireland romped to a 5-1 win, but it was a whole different ball game in Albania, and water polo would probably have been more appropriate.

After 20 minutes of play the first rumbles were heard, accompanied by torrential rain. The surface soon suffered with the ball constantly stuck under players' feet, and any attempt at a pass along the ground rarely reached its target.

The game was scoreless at halftime and play was suspended for an hour as ground staff cleared the waterlogged pitch. Their efforts paid off as the second half finally got underway in more playable conditions.

Denise O'Sullivan scored the winner in the 88th minute, and with four wins from four games, Ireland have secured the group win and promotion with two games still to play."Have never laughed so hard during a game before, the conditions were absolutely absurd, but we got it done," Sinead Farrelly said on Instagram, alongside photos and a video which showed the midfielder enjoying the weather.

Uganda have appointed controversial Belgian Paul Put as national coach in place of Milutin Sredojevic, who was sacked last month, football officials said on Thursday. The 67-year-old Put, whose career has been tarnished by scandal including alleged match-fixing, was among 120 coaches who applied for the job.

Serbian Sredojevic was fired after the Uganda Cranes failed to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals. The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) said it had agreed a two-year contract.

"Coach Paul Put helped Burkina Faso reach the final of AFCON in 2013, guided Guinea to a quarterfinal finish and also helped The Gambia to qualify for AFCON," FUFA chief Moses Magogo said at a press conference in Kampala. "With such a CV, we believe the coach will do a good job here."

1n 2008, Put was given a three-year ban by Belgium's football federation for alleged involvement in a&nbsp;match-fixing scandal, although he has said he was a scapegoat. Guinea also banned him from all football activity for life in 2019 when he was in charge of their national team.

Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Lazio all qualified for the knockout phase of the Champions League on Tuesday.

Manchester City bounced back from 2-0 down to beat RB Leipzig with both teams already qualified, while Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle drew 1-1 and both need a result on matchday six to go through.

Atletico Madrid booked their place with a sumptuous volley from defender Mario Hermoso and two own goals firing them to a thrilling 3-1 win over Dutch champions Feyenoord.

"I am very happy for the players. Today, we knew how difficult our opponent would be," said Atletico coach Diego Simeone to Movistar.

That left Atletico with 11 points in Group E ahead of 10-point Lazio, who had a tense wait after playing earlier and needing a Feyenoord defeat to confirm their place.

Veteran Italian striker Ciro Immobile shot the Italian side into the last-16 in a 2-0 win over eliminated Celtic in Rome, leaving Feyenoord to join the Europa League.

In Group H, Barcelona came from behind to beat Porto 2-1 as Portuguese duo Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix both netted to turn the game on its head after Brazilian winger Pepe opened for Porto.

"It was a final and we won it ... we've put the club in the last-16, which is where it deserves to be," Cancelo told Movistar.

The Spanish champions now have 12 points while Porto are locked on nine alongside Shakhtar Donetsk, who beat Antwerp 1-0 in Hamburg.

<h2>- Newcastle pay the penalty -</h2>

Borussia Dortmund secured their spot in the last-16 with a 3-1 win at AC Milan, who are staring early elimination in the face.

Marco Reus' early penalty and second-half strikes from English teenager Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Karim Adeyemi secured passage into the next round with a match to spare for Dortmund.

There was late drama at the Parc des Princes when a 98th-minute Kylian Mbappe penalty earned Paris Saint-Germain a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United.

It looked as though Newcastle -- who won 4-1 when the sides met at St James' Park last month -- were going to leave Paris with all three points in the Group F encounter thanks to Alexander Isak's 24th-minute opener.

- Newcastle pay the penalty - Borussia Dortmund secured their spot in the last-16 with a 3-1 win at AC Milan, who are staring early elimination in the face. Barcelona, Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Lazio enter Champions League last-16

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe hit out at the decision to award Paris Saint-Germain a last-gasp penalty that denied his team a Champions League win over the French club on Tuesday.

The Premier League side were leading 1-0 at the Parc des Princes thanks to Alexander Isak's 25th-minute goal, until Polish referee Szymon Marciniak awarded PSG a penalty deep in injury time following a VAR check for a handball by Tino Livramento.

The award appeared harsh, and Kylian Mbappe converted the spot-kick to earn PSG a 1-1 draw that changes the outlook for both clubs going into the final round of matches in Group F.

"In my opinion, it wasn't the right decision," insisted Howe as he spoke to reporters after the game.

"It was a ricochet that when it is slowed down looks totally different to the live event.

"It hits his hand, but I don't think his hand is in an unnatural position. I feel it is a poor decision.

"It is hugely frustrating for us because at that moment you know how little time there is left in the game, but there is nothing we can do about it now."

A win would have taken Newcastle into their final group game at home to AC Milan next month with their fate in their own hands in terms of securing qualification for the last 16.

Instead, the draw leaves them in third place, and PSG will join the already-qualified Borussia Dortmund in going through if they win their last game in Germany.

Newcastle must beat Milan at St James' Park and also hope for a slip-up by PSG on the final matchday.

"I just feel for the players after what they have given and for how they have performed in very difficult circumstances, and what that decision does to the group because now the destiny is not with us," Howe added.

"That is tough to take after being so close to being in that position."

Newcastle's first Champions League campaign in two decades has so far been a story of ups and downs, with a 4-1 win at home to PSG last month being followed by consecutive losses against Dortmund before Tuesday's game.

"You have to look at what the players have given and I can't be deflated by what they have given tonight," said Howe, who was hoping to mark his 46th birthday on Wednesday with a victory.

Asked about his team's European campaign so far he added: "We have been thrown in at the deep end with the group, with high-class opposition, great stadiums and brilliant atmospheres.

"We are desperate to stay in the competition and show a better version of ourselves because I don't think people have seen that yet."

Former England and Tottenham Hotspur manager Terry Venables, whose death at the age of 80 was announced on Sunday, was remembered fondly on Monday in Australia, where he served as head coach of the Socceroos for two years. Despite the most notable aspect of Venables's reign being the failure to qualify for the 1998 World Cup in a playoff against Iran, warm tributes were paid to the man who became known to one and all as "El Tel" after his stint at Barcelona.

With Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers, Spurs and the Catalan giants on his resume, it was a huge surprise when Venables was lured Down Under after England's semi-final exit from Euro 96.

"We had to pinch ourselves to think we had Terry Venables as coach, it was very surreal," former Australia midfielder Robbie Slater told Fox Sports News.

"He was a wonderful man, larger than life, almost like a rock star. As a person, I found him so endearing and so easy to like and I think his man-management skills were incredible. "He really took an interest in all the players and he loved his time with the Socceroos and he was devastated by the loss to Iran."

Under Venables, Australia reached the final of the 1997 Confederations Cup, where they lost 6-0 to Brazil after hat-tricks from Ronaldo and Romario, and breached the top 30 of the FIFA rankings for the first time. The Holy Grail for the Socceroos, though, was getting to the World Cup finals and they looked on course to do just that until Iran scored two late goals in the second leg of their intercontinental playoff in late 1997.

Venables later said he had never felt as low as that night at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where 85,000 fans had gathered in the hope of watching Australia break their long World Cup finals drought. "Terry was not just a great person and character, he was a very special coach," his assistant with the Socceroos Les Scheinflug said in a Football Australia statement.

"We were incredibly lucky to have him at the helm of the Socceroos. Terry commenced our journey towards realising our ambition of returning to the World Cup stage (in 2006)." Ange Postecoglou, the Australian now managing Spurs, also acknowledged the influence Venables had on football Down Under after the Premier League club's game at Tottenham Stadium on Sunday. "Anyone who I've ever come across who has worked with him will say that he's by far the best coach, manager, tactician they've come across," Postecoglou told reporters.

Stephen Kenny's three-year reign as Republic of Ireland manager is over after football association bosses said that his contract would not be renewed. The 52-year-old's departure was widely expected having failed to guide the team to Euro 2024 in Germany, winning only two of their eight games in qualifying Group B.

Kenny's final game was a 1-1 draw with New Zealand in a friendly in Dublin on Tuesday. He won only six of his 29 competitive matches. The Football Association of Ireland said that they had been in a hard group containing France and the Netherlands, but the target had been qualification.

FAI chief executive Jonathan Hill thanked Kenny, who replaced Mick McCarthy in 2020, for working "tirelessly to create the right environment to support the development of our senior men's team".

"Stephen has also overseen an important period of transition for our senior men's national team and has given debuts to a significant number of new and younger players."

"This will serve as a solid platform for whoever now takes this group of players forward." The FAI said that the search for Kenny's successor had already begun, ahead of friendly matches in March and June next year.

Speaking after the draw with New Zealand, Kenny admitted that&nbsp;he did not expect to continue as Ireland manager. "Of course it would be a dream to carry on and manage the team, of course it would, but my instinct is that's not going to happen," he said.

Terry Venables, the former manager of England's national soccer team and Tottenham Hotspur, has died aged 80 after an illness, his family said on Sunday.

Venables guided England to the semi-finals of the 1996 European Championship on home soil before losing to Germany on penalties.

"We are totally devastated by the loss of a wonderful husband and father who passed away peacefully yesterday after a long illness," the family said in a statement.

In addition to his spell in charge of Tottenham, during which he won the FA Cup in the 1990-91 season, he also took charge of Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Barcelona in a glittering managerial career.

During his time at Barcelona, Venables earned the nickname El Tel, winning LaLiga and reaching the European Cup final in 1986. Venables was also responsible for bringing British strikers Gary Lineker and Mark Hughes to the Nou Camp.

Haaland's performance last season also helped the City complete the famous treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League as well.

In the current season, Haaland has played 20 games in all competitions and the goal against Liverpool was his 18th this year. In the Premier League, the striker has 14 goals to his name in 13 appearance so far.

The match against Liverpool, however, ended in a 1-1 draw and ended City's victory run at home. Haaland's goal in the 27th minute gave City the lead which continued for most part of the game. In 80th minute though, Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the equaliser and the scorecard remained undisturbed after that.

With the draw, Manchester City are now second on the points table with 29 points after 13 games with nine wins, two losses and two draws. Arsenal replaced them for the top position after they won their game against Brentford 1-0 on November 25 and took their points tally to 30 - one more than the City in same number of games.

Walter Mazzarri made a winning return as Napoli coach on Saturday with the champions' hard-fought 2-1 victory at Atalanta, while AC Milan held on to third in Serie A after beating Fiorentina 1-0.

Eljif Elmas netted the decisive goal 11 minutes from the end at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's headed opener for the away side on the stroke of half-time was levelled by a similar strike from Ademola Lookman.

North Macedonia midfielder Elmas rolled home the winner from substitute Victor Osimhen's pass following Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi's poor clearance, making sure that Napoli stayed fourth.

Mazzarri's team are still seven points behind leaders Inter Milan who travel to Turin on Sunday for the weekend's big match at second-placed Juventus.

"The team dominated all last season, playing some of the best football in Europe with players who were not used to being in that position," Mazzarri told DAZN.

"There was always going to be some drop-off after that."

Mazzarri returned to Napoli last week after Rudi Garcia was sacked, reprising a role he left just over a decade ago after being the man to take southern Italy's biggest club back to the upper echelons of Italian football.

The 62-year-old guided Napoli to the 2012 Italian Cup, beating undefeated league champions Juventus in the final to win the club's first major trophy in over two decades, and to second in Serie A one year later before leaving for Inter Milan.

And he took three points from Saturday's even clash, his team recovering from Lookman's 53rd-minute equaliser and being saved from going behind in the 68th minute when Mario Pasalic's finish was ruled out for Teun Koopmeiners straying offside.

Mazzarri will also be boosted by Osimhen recovering from his hamstring injury in time for Wednesday's Champions League trip to Real Madrid.

Napoli are second in Group C, five points behind leaders Madrid and four ahead of third-placed Braga, who take on Union Berlin, with two games remaining.

"I didn't need to be in charge of Napoli to know that Osimhen is a great striker, I'd already seen him play," said Mazzarri.

"I hope he gets back to his best form back as soon as he can."

<h2>Hernandez sinks Fiorentina</h2>

Napoli were briefly third but Milan moved back above their rivals thanks to Theo Hernandez's penalty in a win in which 15-year-old Francesco Camarda became the youngest ever player to play in Serie A.

France full-back Hernandez calmly slotted home from the spot in first-half stoppage time after being brought down by Fabiano Parisi.

That was the highlight of an underwhelming performance from Milan, who were without suspended Olivier Giroud, Noah Okafor, star man Rafael Leao and others for their first win in five league matches.

Portugal winger Leao will also miss Tuesday's visit of Borussia Dortmund which could be crucial to Milan's Champions League hopes.

A host of absences led to teen attacker Camarda being called up from Milan's youth ranks and brought on with seven minutes remaining, replacing Luka Jovic who moments before missed a golden chance to net his first goal for the club.

And deep in stoppage time Mike Maignan saved the win with a stunning stop to deny Rolando Mandragora just as the Italian looked certain to equalise from inches out.

"We can get back to playing beautiful football once we start to get more consistent results again," coach Stefano Pioli told Sky.&nbsp;

"There are times where you have to do things this way."

Maurizio Sarri suggested he could quit Lazio after his team fell 2-1 at the division's bottom team Salernitana, losing thanks to a wonder strike from old boy Antonio Candreva.

"If it turns out that I'm the problem I'll take responsibility and I'll tell the owner to make a change," Sarri told reporters.

Lazio are 10th on 17 points following their sixth defeat of what has been a difficult league season after finishing second last term.

Serie A: Walter Mazzarri makes winning return as Napoli coach; Milan go past Fiorentina

Ousmane Dembele scored his first Paris Saint-Germain goal in stunning fashion as the reigning French champions crushed Monaco 5-2 in Ligue 1 on Friday to cement their lead at the top of the table.

Goncalo Ramos opened the scoring early on for PSG but a howler by home goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma gifted Takumi Minamino the equaliser soon after.

However, Kylian Mbappe's penalty against his former club restored PSG's lead and two superb goals in the space of three second-half minutes by Dembele and Vitinha put the game out of sight.

Folarin Balogun pulled another back for Monaco but substitute Randal Kolo Muani put the seal on PSG's win in stoppage time.

Paris have now won seven and drawn one of their last eight Ligue 1 games and this result moved them four points clear of second-placed Nice, who are in action on Sunday. Monaco remain third but are six points adrift of the leaders.

"The most important thing was the attitude shown by the players after the international break," said PSG coach Luis Enrique.

"We had one day's training, for one hour, to prepare for this game."

The result, which was achieved despite captain Marquinhos and teenage midfield prodigy Warren Zaire-Emery both missing out through injury, was a boost for Luis Enrique's team ahead of a crucial home Champions League clash with Newcastle United.

The Qatar-backed side could be at real risk of going out of Europe's elite club competition in the group stage if they fail to win that match on Tuesday.

"Monaco are a team on the same level as us and also aspire to win the league, so it is a good result," added Luis Enrique.

"We are going into a vital game against Newcastle and the best way to do that is to win, and all the better winning in that way."

Marquinhos and Zaire-Emery were both injured on international duty and so there were notably starts for PSG here for Nordi Mukiele at left-back and for Fabian Ruiz in central midfield.

Portugal striker Ramos was preferred to Kolo Muani at centre-forward and he opened the scoring in the 18th minute, pouncing to finish after goalkeeper Philipp Koehn spilled a Dembele shot.

Monaco had squandered a great chance to go ahead before that when the unmarked Soungoutou Magassa failed to beat Donnarumma with a header from point-blank range.

<h2>Donnarumma howler</h2>

The principality side also had a Vanderson goal disallowed for offside but they were gifted an equaliser midway through the first half when Donnarumma played an attempted clearance straight to Minamino and the Japan international pounced to score.

Nevertheless, the Parisians went back in front six minutes before the interval as Magassa caught Dembele in the box, and Mbappe rifled in the resulting penalty for his 14th goal in 12 Ligue 1 appearances this season.

Donnarumma made up for his earlier gaffe with a fine save from Minamino to maintain PSG's lead into half-time, and they ended any doubt about the outcome with two goals in quick succession in the second half.

It was 3-1 on 70 minutes as Dembele showed great agility to control a quickly-taken free-kick sent over the top by Ruiz, and then advanced into the box to finish emphatically past Koehn.

It was his first goal in 16 appearances since signing for PSG from Barcelona in August.

Two minutes after that it was four as Portugal midfielder Vitinha controlled a pass from Mbappe wide on the left and curled a fine strike into the far corner.

Monaco quickly pulled one back when Minamino sent through USA striker Balogun to finish past Donnarumma, but they conceded again in the sixth added minute as a botched Guillermo Maripan clearance fell to Kolo Muani to score.

The defeat is a blow to Monaco's hopes of mounting a title challenge and they have now won just once in four outings.

"It is easy to analyse this game today. We conceded four goals that were for me own goals and at this level that is too much," said Monaco coach Adi Huetter.

"PSG is a top team. When you want to be on top of the table, or in the best three in France, we made too many mistakes."

International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Chief of Global Football Development Arséne Wenger remarked that timely identification of talents and providing them profound coaching at a young age is essential to grow Indian football. Speaking at a press conference with All India Football Federation (AIFF) President&nbsp;Kalyan Chaubey in Mumbai, Wenger said that developing the sport in India is an exciting and interesting endeavour for the global governing body as he insisted upon finding efficient solutions in consultation with all stakeholders of the game in the nation.

Wenger signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of FIFA with AIFF to set up the inaugural FIFA-AIFF Talent Academy at the Odisha Football Academy in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

“We are convinced that you have to put the best talents against each other together. Football is learned with the difficulties you experience by playing against good players. We want to identify good talents, give them the best coaching, quality competitions, and after that, the final step is to integrate them within the first team,” Wenger said.

Kalyan Chaubey, President, AIFF, touched upon the driving force that the Indian Super League (ISL) and other stakeholders have been towards taking Indian football forward. He opined that the synergy between the AIFF and the ISL has been paramount for the development of the sport and he motivated all authorities to work in cooperation and ensure that Indian football reaches heights so that years later they can be proud of the day this initiative with FIFA was kicked off.

“The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is having a good synergy with the Indian Super League (ISL), the club owners, and all stakeholders of Indian football. We all have been working for the development of football. The AIFF is asking everyone to push together for progress in the same direction. We can take the support of all stakeholders, so that we can feel proud of this day in the future,” Chaubey remarked.

Wenger agreed on the need to work collaboratively, adding, “This is something that we need to do together. We are here to help. We do not want anything. We just want to give from everything that we have learnt from all the countries in the world. The top one percent footballing countries in the world are the ones with better systems of education. There is a huge correlation between the quality of education and the results of the first-team.”

Wenger quipped that there is a need of having 40 such development academies to fulfil the needs of a country the size of India. However, he was convinced that proper solutions could be met with the help of all concerned stakeholders.

“In the last three days, we spoke a lot about the promise from both sides. I feel that we have cooperation here. Ideally we want 40 academies so that nobody misses to detect talent in this country. Of course, we have to find the most efficient solution and hence we need the cooperation of everybody who has potential here, right from the states, the AIFF, from sponsors who want to develop football, that’s why it’s difficult, but at the same time it is very exciting and interesting for us,” Wenger explained.

International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Chief of Global Football Development Arséne Wenger remarked that timely identification of talents and providing them profound coaching at a young age is essential to grow Indian football.

International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Chief of Global Football Development Arséne Wenger remarked that timely identification of talents and providing them profound coaching at a young age is essential to grow Indian football. Speaking at a press conference with All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Kalyan Chaubey in Mumbai, Wenger said that developing the sport in India is an exciting and interesting endeavour for the global governing body as he insisted upon finding efficient solutions in consultation with all stakeholders of the game in the nation. Jenni Hermoso was summoned Wednesday by the judge investigating the events surrounding the then Spanish federation chief Luis Rubiales kissing her at the Women's World Cup final trophy ceremony.

Rubiales eventually resigned over the issue -- he insisted the kiss post Spain winning the trophy in Australia in August was consensual -- and is being investigated for alleged sexual assault and coercion.

Judge Francisco de Jorge, leading the investigation against Rubiales, summoned Hermoso on Tuesday November 28 at 1030GMT "in person", the National Court said in a brief statement.

Hermoso, 33, reported the incident to the courts in early September. Currently he is banned from being within 200 metres of Hermoso.

Former women's national team coach Jorge Vilda, the director of the men's national team, Albert Luque, and the RFEF's marketing director are also under investigation for allegedly pressuring Hermoso.

Numerous witnesses haven given evidence in court including two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas, among other team-mates of Hermoso.

Rubiales' conduct, caught on camera, provoked a wave of international outrage and led to his suspension by world football governing body FIFA.

Rubiales eventually resigned on September 10 after initially refusing to.

Hermoso was left out of Spain coach Montse Tome's first squad list but returned for Nations League matches in October and has been called up for further games in December.

Argentina defeated Brazil 1-0 on Tuesday in an ill-tempered 2026 World Cup qualifying clash marred by pre-match crowd trouble that forced kick-off to be delayed.

A 63rd-minute header from veteran defender Nicolas Otamendi secured victory for Argentina as the world champions bounced back from last week's defeat to Uruguay to beat their bitter South American rivals.

The win at Rio's iconic Maracana Stadium leaves Argentina on top of the South American qualifying standings with 15 points from six games.

Brazil's third defeat of qualifying, meanwhile, leaves the five-time world champions in sixth place with seven points from six games.&nbsp;

Tempers had flared in the stands at the Maracana moments before kick-off, with Brazilian police seen using batons to drive back a block of Argentine fans at one end of the ground.

Several Argentina players went towards the disturbances in an apparent attempt to plead for calm, with goalkeeper Emi Martinez attempting to jump into the seating area at one stage to confront a baton-wielding Brazilian police officer.

Argentina's players led by Lionel Messi then returned to their dressing room as the clashes continued, with Messi appearing to say: "We're not playing, we're leaving."

The 2022 World Cup winners re-emerged onto the field shortly before 10pm local time and the match kicked off shortly afterwards, roughly 30 minutes later than the scheduled start time.

Argentina beat Brazil in World Cup qualifiers after kick-off delayed due to clash between police and fans

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann said Tuesday his side have an "unbelievable amount of work to do" six months from hosting Euro 2024 after falling to a 2-0 friendly defeat against Austria in Vienna.

Germany fell behind to a Marcel Sabitzer goal in the first half and then lost Leroy Sane early in the second to a red card, the Bayern Munich winger pushing Austria defender Phillipp Mwene in the face and forcing him to the ground.&nbsp;

Christoph Baumgartner then scored a second for Austria as Nagelsmann's side struggled to fight back with 10 men.&nbsp;

"We're not playing freely. We've an unbelievable amount of work to do in each position," Nagelsmann told German broadcaster ZDF.

"We need to accept the situation but we can't fall into the role of being victims."

Nagelsmann said his side was "a really well-functioning group at training, but it's not transferring onto the pitch".

"We're missing some self-confidence, which is not a surprise when you see the past few months."&nbsp;

Germany have now won just three of 11 games since the four-time World Cup winners' embarrassing group-stage exit in Qatar a year ago.&nbsp;

Captain Ilkay Gundogan lamented his side's "homemade" mistakes, saying things "couldn't be worse" before Euro 2024.

"Doing it this way, we won't be successful," he admitted, adding that his team were lacking cohesion.

"We have to be honest and say it's not only the defence. I said after Turkey (Germany's 3-2 loss last weekend) that defence starts up front, with the way we run and pass, and with our attitude.

"We need to infuse ourselves with some positive energy, with some emotion and defend emotionally -- right now we're doing the opposite."

Defender Mats Hummels, one of the few 2014 World Cup winners remaining in the Germany squad, was confident the team could turn things around before the Euro starts in June.&nbsp;

"It takes a while. We have a bit of time until the Euro. I think we can take massive steps," he said.

"If we work hard, it could be a really good tournament for us."

'We've work to do,' says Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann after defeat vs Austria in friendly

Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers&nbsp;at the iconic Maracana Stadium&nbsp;in Rio de Janeiro&nbsp;on Wednesday. Hosts Brazil succumbed to their third defeat in a row in the ongoing WC campaign, however, the match made heads turn for all the wrong reasons. Ahead of the match, the crowd got violent and the situation became out of control. As a result, the Brazilian cops&nbsp;charged Argentinian fans for&nbsp;fighting in the stands during the national anthems.

The situation was so grim that a&nbsp;bloodied fan was taken off the field on a stretcher. Seats were being ripped off the stands and thrown at the police officials while a few fans ran onto the ground for safety.&nbsp;Later, Rio police claimed to have arrested eight people following the brawl. It led to a considerable delay to the start of the match. After the final result, Argentina captain Lionel Messi reacted to the infamous episode and sympathised with his countrymen who were severely hit.&nbsp;

<h2>'It is insane and it needs to end now'</h2>

Messi took to his official Instagram handle and shared a post. He wrote, "Great victory in the Maracaná although it will be marked by the repression of the Argentinians once again in Brazil. This can't be tolerated it's insane and it needs to end now!!"

After Argentina's 1-0 win, Messi and his teammates walked towards the stand where the crowd trouble took place to celebrate the win. The celebration and victory lap lasted for close to 10 minutes.&nbsp;

On being asked why Messi led Argentina players off the field during the crowd violence, he stated, "The truth is that this group continues to achieve historic things, once again. Obviously, at the beginning, it was bad because we saw how they were beating people. Hosts Brazil succumbed to their third defeat in a row in the ongoing WC campaign, however, the match made heads turn for all the wrong reasons. Ahead of the match, the crowd got violent and the situation became out of control. As a result, the Brazilian cops charged Argentinian fans for fighting in the stands during the national anthems. The situation was so grim that a bloodied fan was taken off the field on a stretcher. Seats were being ripped off the stands and thrown at the police officials while a few fans ran onto the ground for safety. Later, Rio police claimed to have arrested eight people following the brawl. It led to a considerable delay to the start of the match. After the final result, Argentina captain Lionel Messi reacted to the infamous episode and sympathised with his countrymen who were severely hit. 'It is insane and it needs to end now' Messi took to his official Instagram handle and shared a post. He wrote, "Great victory in the Maracaná although it will be marked by the repression of the Argentinians once again in Brazil. This can't be tolerated it's insane and it needs to end now!!" "For the (Spanish football) federation, for me, for his friends. But above all for him and for his club.

"We're destroyed. Football is a risk sport and this is the ugly part of our sport."

Goals from Robin Le Normand and Ferran Torres and a Luka Lochoshvili own goal helped Spain past a spirited Georgia, who drew level at 1-1 early on through Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Euro 2024 Qualifiers: Portugal finish unbeaten, Serbia and Belgium qualify too

Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick in France's record-breaking 14-0 thrashing of 10-man Gibraltar as the Netherlands, Switzerland and Romania booked their places at Euro 2024 on Saturday.

Les Bleus set a new record margin of victory in European qualifying and a national record in Nice.

Ethan Santos' own goal and Marcus Thuram had already opened the floodgates before 17-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery scored.

That was Zaire-Emery's last contribution as the PSG midfielder was forced off with an ankle injury but a red card for Santos after just 18 minutes allowed the World Cup finalists to run amok.

Mbappe's penalty made it 4-0 and Jonathan Clauss, Kingsley Coman and Youssouf Fofana all scored before half-time.

Adrien Rabiot, Coman again and Ousmane Dembele kept the score ticking over before Mbappe struck twice to seal his hat-trick in style.

The France captain lobbed Dayle Coleing from just inside the Gibraltar half to register his 300th career goal aged just 24.

Olivier Giroud then came off the bench to grab the final two goals and ensure the history books were re-written.

But the scoreline will raise fresh questions over the need for such clashes between giants and minnows in a congested fixture calendar.

"We did everything to make this score happen. That is the ambition that there is in this team," said France boss Didier Deschamps.

Just one goal was enough to ensure the Dutch joined France in qualifying from Group B with a 1-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland.

Wout Weghorst's powerful drive separated the sides in Amsterdam in what is likely to be Irish boss Stephen Kenny's final competitive game in charge.

"In the end, it's about winning the game. We knew we needed the three points to qualify directly today, at home with our own fans," said Netherlands forward Cody Gakpo.

"We created a lot of chances, opportunities, but we have to score more goals and have more finesse in the final third."

<h2>Romania, Switzerland qualify</h2>

Romania reached just a second major tournament since 2008 by ending Israel's chances of automatic qualification with a 2-1 win.

Despite being forced to play what should have been a home fixture in Hungary due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, Israel went in front after just two minutes through Eran Zahavi.

But Romania hit back quickly to level through George Puscas and secured their place in Germany thanks to Ianis Hagi, son of Gheorghe Hagi who inspired the Romanians famous run to the 1994 World Cup quarter-finals.

Switzerland also qualified despite being held 1-1 at home by Kosovo.

Romania are now in pole position to win Group I with a draw at home to the Swiss on Tuesday enough to secure top spot.

Wales' hopes of reaching a third consecutive European Championship were dealt a huge blow by a 1-1 draw away to Armenia.

Rob Page's men began the day with automatic qualification in their own hands.

But Wales fell behind early on to Lucas Zelarayan's strike from outside the box in Yerevan.

Nair Tiknizyan's own goal brought the visitors level before half-time, but Wales failed to find a winner that leaves them needing Croatia to slip up.

The 2022 World Cup semi-finalists moved into second place in Group D thanks to a 2-0 win in Latvia as Lovro Majer and Andrej Kramaric struck inside the first 16 minutes.

Wales must beat already-qualified Turkey in Cardiff on Tuesday and hope Croatia fail to beat Armenia at home.

France qualify for Euro 2024 with record 14-0 thrashing of 10-man Gibraltar

Denmark midfielder Thomas Delaney's second-half goal ensured his side's qualification for Euro 2024 as they secured a 2-1 home win over Slovenia on Friday that ensures top spot in Group H.

The Danes have 22 points from nine games, three ahead of Slovenia who cannot overtake them even if they beat third-placed Kazakhstan, who have 18 points, in their final game on Monday due to their inferior head-to-head record.

Denmark dominated throughout and almost opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Jonas Wind got a towering header on target but Slovenia goalkeeper Jan Oblak made the first of a string of fine saves to deny him.

Wing back Joakim Maehle, who had an early effort ruled out for offside, broke the deadlock in the 26th minute as he ghosted in at the far post to score with a superb half-volley from Victor Kristiansen's cross.

That jolted the visitors into life and they quickly levelled as fullback Erik Janza beat keeper Kasper Schmeichel with a tremendous free kick from the edge of the box on the half hour.

Denmark striker Yussuf Poulsen wasted a couple of decent chances early in the second half but that merely set the scene for Delaney, whose World Cup last year was ended due by a knee injury, to become the hero.

With the Slovenians struggling to deal with Denmark's height and power at set pieces, Jannick Vestergaard's clever headed flick found Delaney on the edge of the six-yard box and he rifled the ball home to send the Copenhagen crowd into ecstasy.

Slovenia's goal proved to be their only effort on target in the game and the Danes, European champions in 1992, continued to dominate possession as they held on comfortably to win the game and book their spot at a 10th Euro finals.

The Danes, who crashed out of last year's World Cup at the group stage, celebrated by donning red t-shirts with the words "See you in Germany Euro 2024" while spraying the contents of gigantic bottles of beer.

"It's damn big, we've dreamed about this since qualification started and I think we played a very good game," a jubilant Maehle told broadcaster TV2.

"Redemption, this is redemption," midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg told TV2. "Now we're going to the Euros in the summer and we can create something really special there."

Delaney books Denmark's Euro 2024 berth in 2-1 win over Slovenia

Federico Chiesa scored twice as Italy secured a 5-2 home victory against North Macedonia in their Euro 2024 qualifying clash on Friday, giving them an edge ahead of a deciding encounter with Ukraine on Monday for a place at the finals.

The Group C victory means Italy only need a draw against Ukraine to secure second place in the group along with already-qualified England and reach next year’s finals in Germany.

Italy have encountered difficulties in their history with North Macedonia, suffering a 1-0 loss at home in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and later playing a 1-1 Euro qualifying draw in manager Luciano Spalletti's debut as Azzurri coach in September.

"With our quality, sooner or later we do score goals, but there was this danger of counter-attacks that we were never troubled by in the first half but were a couple of times after the break," Spalletti told RAI Sport.

Giacomo Raspadori had a goal disallowed for offside, followed by Chiesa's attempt from a tight angle that was saved by North Macedonia's Stole Dimitrievski.

Italy broke the deadlock after 17 minutes when an unmarked Matteo Darmian headed in a corner at the back post.

After 40 minutes, Italy had a chance to extend their advantage from the penalty spot after Nikola Serafimov's handball but Jorginho's attempt was saved by Dimitrievski.

Chiesa did double the lead four minutes before the break though with a curling shot from the edge of the box.

In first-half stoppage time Italy got a third when Chiesa received a through ball inside the box, eluded a defender and scored with a deflected shot that looped into the top corner.

North Macedonia got back into the match after 52 minutes when Jani Atanasov nodded in a close-range cross before scoring his second with a deflected long-range shot in the 74th.

"The second goal was a big deflection, it was casual, so that changes the psychological aspects of the match," Spalletti said.

"At that point, I think we saw the best of Italy in terms of character and quality as we showed strength to keep going and secure the victory with another two goals."

Italy's Raspadori dashed the visitors' hopes nine minutes from time with a goal from a tricky angle inside the box, while Stephan El Shaarawy added Italy's fifth in stoppage time.

Spalletti was asked if he planned to make changes for the Ukraine game in Leverkusen, Germany.

"As for the next match, we have to see how everyone is doing, but I do not predict that many changes," he said.

"At that point, I think we saw the best of Italy in terms of character and quality as we showed strength to keep going and secure the victory with another two goals." Italy's Raspadori dashed the visitors' hopes nine minutes from time with a goal from a tricky angle inside the box, while Stephan El Shaarawy added Italy's fifth in stoppage time. Spalletti was asked if he planned to make changes for the Ukraine game in Leverkusen, Germany. "As for the next match, we have to see how everyone is doing, but I do not predict that many changes," he said.

Hungary qualified for the Euro 2024 finals with a game to spare after a last-gasp own goal from Alex Petkov earned them a 2-2 away draw against Bulgaria in their qualifying Group G on Thursday.

The result put them on top of the group with 15 points from seven games, with an unassailable four-point lead over third-placed Montenegro.

Hungary took the lead through Martin Adam's close-range header following a free kick from captain Dominik Szoboszlai from the right after 10 minutes.

Marco Rossi's squad seemed close to doubling their lead, but on Bulgaria's first chance, Spas Delev scored with a shot into the top right corner to make it 1-1 in the 24th minute.

The hosts were dealt a blow before halftime when they were reduced to nine men after red cards for Valentin Antov and Ilia Gruev, but the VAR intervened to overturn the latter and keep hopes of a Bulgarian comeback alive.

Hungary were also reduced to 10 men early in the second half when Milos Kerkez was sent off and suffered a major setback in the 78th minute as Kiril Despodov scored with a penalty to give Bulgaria a 2-1 lead.

As Hungary got close to suffer their first defeat in a year, Petkov headed in his own goal from a corner seven minutes into stoppage time to send his team into their third consecutive European championship finals.

Montenegro secured a 2-0 win at home against Lithuania on Thursday, courtesy of goals from Edvin Kuc and Stevan Jovetic.

Hungary will host Montenegro on Sunday.

Hungary qualify for Euro 2024 with dramatic 2-2 draw against Bulgaria

The Israel-Gaza conflict has disrupted preparations by the Palestinian team for their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Lebanon on Thursday, but the players are determined to put on a good showing, a team official and player said.

The match is being played in neutral venue of Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, because of the conflict.

It had originally been scheduled to be played in Beirut, with the Palestinians set to host Australia the following week, but Israel's response to the attack by Hamas on Oct. 7 forced officials to find new venues.

The Palestinians usually host games at Al-Ram's Faisal Al-Husseini Stadium on the West Bank.

"Everything changed after Oct. 7 with the start of the conflict in Gaza," Palestine Football Association (PFA) media manager Ahmed Rajoub told the National media outlet.

"All sporting activities stopped completely in Palestine, and the football team was forced to move to Jordan. The first real training for the national team ... took place on Monday in Sharjah four days ago."

"We had some training sessions in Jordan, and in the absence of Gazan players, this was not enough to prepare for an ideal match in the qualifiers."

Lebanon and the Palestinians meet at the Khalid bin Mohammed Stadium in the UAE before the latter take on Australia in Kuwait on Nov. 21.

Rajoub said the situation in Gaza was weighing heavily on the players.

"We just can't get the players focused on the game when people are killed and injured every day since the conflict started," he said. "The players don't talk about football, but about the war, and when they are in the room or the bus, they rush to follow the current events via their mobile phones to check on their families, relatives and friends.

"But we want to say, despite all these issues and this difficult period, the players definitely want to win, no matter how hard it may be."

Palestinian midfielder Mohammed Rashid said the team would give their best.

"It's really hard to stay focused," Rashid said. "I think there's no choice for us to, for example, postpone the game; we have to play, so this is exactly why we're here now.

"We want to show our best, and we want to show the whole world that we're people, just like any other country, that we can exercise our rights to be free and play the beautiful game of football."
