<p>But during the current cost of living crisis, the performer has been said to have added on an extra 3 million pounds for a wedding booking - and was understandably turned down by the spouses-to-be.</p>

<p>A source told The Sun: "It seems he's raised his fee in line with the cost of living soaring and now it's 3 million pounds more. The 4 million pounds fee was quoted earlier this year when Elton was approached to play at a wedding.</p>

<p>"Naturally the price changes depending on what is requested but it appears to have been hiked up. The couple turned it down because they couldn't afford it. There are super-rich fans around the world who can, though."</p>

<p>In January this year, it was announced that the British legend's Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour was already the highest-grossing run of performances of all time, whilst the singer is also set to feature in a TV advert during the Super Bowl tomorrow night.</p>

<p>He became the biggest earner ever taking home a staggering USD 817.9 million (663.44 million pounds) with his latest Oceania leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.</p>

<p>After Paul McCartney, the Glastonbury music festival on Friday again rolled back the years by announcing Elton John as its headline act next June to close out his final UK tour.</p>

<p>The 75-year-old singer-songwriter said he "couldn't be more excited" to make his debut at Britain's best-known festival as he winds down a glittering live career.</p>

<p>John last month played his final US gigs as part of his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" world tour, which is due to end in Stockholm on July 8.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Prior to that, he will headline the closing Sunday slot at Glastonbury in southwest England on June 25, according to Emily Eavis, whose father Michael started the British event in 1970.</p>

<p>"This will be the final UK show of Elton's last-ever tour, so we will be closing the festival and marking this huge moment in both of our histories with the mother of all send-offs," she said.</p>

<p>"We are so very happy to finally bring the Rocket Man to Worthy Farm!"</p>

<p>John announced the farewell world tour in 2018, but it was curtailed by the Covid pandemic and after he was injured in a fall.</p>

<p>The British singer has scored a hit single in every decade since the 1970s and amassed worldwide record sales of 300 million.</p>

<p>He embraced and kissed his husband, David Furnish, while his two sons, 11-year-old Zachary and 9-year-old Elijah, wearing matching Dodgers jackets that read “Elton” on the back, waved gleefully at the crowd.</p>

<p>John played “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” in tribute to the four bandmates who have died during his career, and after the first verse brought on another guest, shouting, “ladies and gentleman, Brandi Carlile!”</p>

The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour began in September 2018 with the first of the 300-plus scheduled dates. It was suspended in 2020 because of the COVID pandemic and resumed in 2021.</p>

<p>In January, John heads to Australia and New Zealand, then moves on to Britain and Europe. He’s set to conclude in Sweden in July, though he’s made it clear he is only done traveling, not making music.</p>

<p>Many of those backing him up have been in his band from the start, or very near it, including Nigel Olsson, his drummer since 1969, and Davey Johnstone, his guitarist since 1971, who at age 71 stood at the front of the stage and led the band through a ripping version of “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.”</p>

<p>John also provided a rare on-stage glimpse of an even more long-running collaborator, the man who wrote most of the words the crowd sang along with all night, lyricist Bernie Taupin.</p>

<p>The individuals had become aware of "highly distressing" evidence revealing they had been victims of breaches of privacy by Associated Newspapers, law firm Hamlins said in a statement.</p>

<p>It said the breaches included placing listening devices inside people's cars and homes, commissioning the bugging of live, private telephone calls, payment of police officials for sensitive information, and impersonating individuals to obtain medical records.</p>

<p>"They have now therefore banded together to uncover the truth, and to hold the journalists responsible fully accountable, many of whom still hold senior positions of authority and power today," Hamlins said in its statement.</p>

<p>Hamlins said it was representing&nbsp;Harry, younger son of King Charles, and Frost, while Lawrence, Hurley, John and Furnish are being represented by the law firm gunnercooke.</p>

<p>"We utterly and unambiguously refute these preposterous smears which appear to be nothing more than a pre-planned and orchestrated attempt to drag the Mail titles into the phone hacking scandal concerning articles up to 30 years old," a spokesman for the publisher said.</p>

<p>"These unsubstantiated and highly defamatory claims - based on no credible evidence - appear to be simply a fishing expedition by claimants and their lawyers, some of whom have already pursued cases elsewhere."</p>

<p>Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has already brought a number of lawsuits against Associated Newspapers' publications.</p>

<p>He is currently suing the Mail on Sunday for libel over an article which stated he had tried to keep secret details of his legal fight to reinstate his police protection, and last year won damages from the same paper over claims he had turned his back on the Royal Marines.</p>

<p>His wife Meghan also won a privacy case against the publisher last December for printing a letter she had written to her estranged father.</p>

<p>The couple's relations with Britain's tabloid press collapsed following their marriage in 2018, and they have previously said they would have "zero engagement" with four major British papers, including the Daily Mail, accusing them of false and invasive coverage.</p>

<p>Media intrusion was a major factor they cited in their decision to step down from royal duties and move to the United States two years ago.</p>

<p>Elton John also defended the couple himself after newspapers accused them of hypocrisy for using his private jet for a flight to stay at his home in the south of France while calling for action to tackle climate change.</p>

<p>A spokesperson for the couple said they had no comment beyond the Hamlins' statement.</p>

<p>"Like so many Americans, our family loves his music," Biden said when introducing the singer. "It's clear&nbsp;Elton&nbsp;John's music has changed our lives."</p>

<p>John, who declined to play for former President Donald Trump's inauguration, agreed to perform for the Bidens as one of a handful of mainstream celebrities who are returning to the White House after years of avoiding it.</p>

<p>His performance was part of a celebration to honour people the White House called everyday heroes: nurses, emergency and mental health workers, teachers, LGBTQ+ advocates and activists.</p>

<p>John&nbsp;said playing at the White House was "icing on the cake" after a career of performing in beautiful venues. In between songs, he spoke of his fight against HIV/AIDS and praised former President George W. Bush, a Republican, for his efforts to combat AIDS in Africa through the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) programme.</p>

Sir Elton John tops music charts after a long wait of 16 years

<p>Two of Britain's post popular singers Sir Elton John and Ed Sheeran are collaborating for this holiday season.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The 'Shape of You' singer recently revealed that he and John are collaborating for an all-new Christmas song that will hit the radio waves in December this year.<br />
<br />
Though Sheeran initially played coy regarding the specifics of the collaboration in an interview with Dutch radio station NPO Radio 2, he eventually opened up, calling the track "f--ing great."<br />
<br />
"Elton rung me on Christmas Day to say Merry Christmas," Sheeran said, adding that he talks to the star "almost every single day."<br />
<br />
"He rung me on Christmas Day and he said, "'Step Into Christmas'&nbsp;is No. 6 in the charts, and I'm 74, and I'm still having f--ing chart hits, this is great! I want to do another Christmas song, will you do it with me?'"<br />
<br />
Though Sheeran said he wasn`t initially keen on John`s proposal, he eventually decided to dive in on the track, which is just him and the 'Rocket Man' singer.<br />
<br />
"You don't know if you'll still be there tomorrow, everything can change overnight," he said, according to NME.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
"I may not be here tomorrow. Why shouldn't I grab this opportunity?"Sheeran is currently gearing up for the release of his fourth full-length album, titled `=` (and pronounced Equals), which will come out on October 29."= (Equals) is a really personal record and one that means a lot to me," he said in a statement in August.<br />
