More than 100 British musicians, from pop and rock idols including Ed Sheeran, Sting and Pink Floyd`s Roger Waters to classical stars such as conductor Simon Rattle, have said tours of Europe by British artists are in danger because of Brexit.

In a letter published in Wednesday`s edition of The Times newspaper, the musicians said the government had broken a promise to negotiate visa-free travel for musicians in the European Union.

"The deal done with the EU has a gaping hole where the promised free movement for musicians should be: everyone on a European music tour will now need costly work permits and a mountain of paperwork for their equipment," they wrote.

"The extra costs will make many tours unviable, especially for young emerging musicians who are already struggling to keep their heads above water owing to the COVID ban on live music."

Britain completed its journey out of the European Union on Dec. 31. One of the consequences of Brexit is that British and European citizens no longer enjoy free movement in each other`s territories.

The musicians urged the government to negotiate a reciprocal deal allowing paperwork-free travel for touring artists.

The stellar list of signatories ranged across almost all styles of music, from The Sex Pistols and Iron Maiden to acclaimed cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, who performed at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Radiohead, Elton John, Bob Geldof, Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno, Liam Gallagher and Queen`s Brian May and Roger Taylor also signed.

Roger Daltrey, lead singer of The Who and an outspoken Brexiteer who had previously dismissed concerns about tours after Brexit, was also on the list.

Culture minister Caroline Dinenage has blamed the EU, saying it rejected British proposals on behalf of creative artists. The government has said it was prepared to further discuss the issue with the bloc.

UK stars from Ed Sheeran to Elton John raise alarm over post-Brexit music tours

Ed Sheeran has hinted he'll be returning to music 'very soon' following his 'extended break' from the industry.
Sending fans wild, the artist responded to speculation he's set to make a comeback on social media earlier this week as he wrote: 'All very valid questions, but you'll know at least one answer soon.' (sic)

A fan account shared their theories about the singer's next album as they wrote: 'Okay so here are my thoughts about subtract and Ed coming back:

'If his break started after his note, it would normally end in June 2021. This just makes way more sense to me: he comes back in June with the lead single(s), release maybe one or two more singles in July (and August) and then puts out subtract in August.

In a rare move from the media personality, the new dad replied to the post, before adding: 'lurky lurk… and it's very soon.' (sic)

Back in August 2019, Ed confirmed his hiatus to spend time with his wife of two years, 28, following the end of his record-breaking Divide tour. Sheeran's collaboration comes over a month after he announced that he would be taking an 18-month break. At the end of his Divide tour earlier this week, the Grammy winner told the crowd in Ipswich, England that, "As you may or not know, I have been on the Divide tour for over two years now and this is the last day of the whole thing. There is something very bittersweet about it."
"I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich. This is my last gig for probably 18 months. We've played all around the world. Glastonbury, Wembley Stadium. All these amazing venues, America, New Zealand, Australia, Asia, South America--it's been a wild one," he continued according to The Sun, reported news agency.

"It kind of feels like you are breaking up with a girlfriend that you have been with for years. It sounds odd but it has been a long tour," he said emotionally.

Before biding the final goodbye, he expressed his appreciation to the people who were involved in making his tour successful."Thank you to everyone who has given me a chance. This is my last song. I wrote this when I was 15 years old. See you in a few year's time. Thank you," he said.

After teaming up with Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Justin Bieber among others, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran seemed to have found a new partner in the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry. Sheeran and Harry on Wednesday teased their fans on a secret collaboration coming out on October 10, with a cryptic video. The clip shared through the official Instagram handle of the Prince featured the 'Perfect' singer ringing the doorbell at Harry's house, which rang to the tune of 'God Save the Queen'. While opening the door and inviting the singer inside, Prince Harry said, "It's like looking in a mirror". The short video ended teasing, "Tomorrow 10th October". Ed Sheeran triumphs as sounds of UK summer released

The little-known town of Ipswich in eastern England has historically prided itself on farming and football, but is now celebrating the stellar pop career of its most famous son, Ed Sheeran.

The global hit machine's journey to stardom began in the nearby town of Framlingham, where he played his first gig in front of around 30 people.

Fourteen years later, the singer is capping off a two-year international tour, on which he played for almost nine million people, with four homecoming shows in Ipswich.

An exhibition entitled "Made in Suffolk", will mark the event, tracing the career of the singer/songwriter responsible for hit singles such as "Shape of You", which helped him amass a £160 million ($194 million, 175 million euro) fortune.

The show reveals his steely determination to make it in the music business and the unfailing support of his parents, who sold merchandise during his early concerts.

A video montage follows his journey from babyhood to adulthood, with his round face and shock of red hair a constant presence as he tries his hand at the piano, drums and the guitar, always with a smile on his lips.

A written account details how as a boy Edward Christopher Sheeran sang in the choir and played cello in the school orchestra in Framlingham while a photograph captures him busking in the street, guitar case open to accept donations, aged 13.

Natural showman

Ian Johnson, who spotted Sheeran when he was 16 and helped him break through, told AFP how he was "impressed with... the way he engaged the audience at that age".

His career took off with the 2011 release of his first album, "+", followed by a series of hits including "Don't", "Thinking Out Loud" and "Castle On The Hill", which explores his love of growing up in rural Suffolk.

The exhibition presents both the superstar who electrifies crowds at concerts in Germany, Australia and the United States -- captured by photographer Mark Surridge -- and also the four-time Grammy winner's more private side.

A bronze sculpture depicting a young Ed and his brother embracing each other is on show, as well as several drawings, including an Andy Warhol inspired self-portrait in orange and black, his favourite colours.

A series of portraits by the painter Colin Davidson, who counts Queen Elizabeth II as one of his previous subjects, reveal "the Ed I think we might see whenever he's seemingly unaware of anyone else being in the room," he told AFP.

"I like to think that's the mood that he's in whenever he's on his own, creating his work or writing songs," added the painter.

'Humble' guy

Other highlights of the free exhibition, which runs until spring 2020, are two of his guitars, one of which he named "Cyril", and which starred in more than 300 concerts in 2009.

There is also a puppet of the performer used in the video clip for "Sing".

In Ipswich, the superstar is a hero.

The Swan pub in the town centre sells postcards and other memorabilia, and even keeps a bottle of Sheeran's favourite ketchup in a plexiglass box "in case Ed comes".

Singer Barny Holmes, who jammed with Sheeran about ten years ago, told AFP his success could be explained partly because "everyone can relate to an underdog".

"You have this really humble, sweet, pale ginger guy... but he was a sweet guy that you just didn't expect to have such a big presence," Holmes said after a gig in the pub.

"I think that's the Ed Sheeran effect."

Ed Sheeran's brand new album 'No. 6 Collaborations Project' is out now!

While the entire Hollywood industry is shaken by the feud between pop singer Taylor Swift and music manager Scooter Braun, the A-listers are coming up in support of the singer.

According to US Weekly, after singer Sia showed her support for Braun, Ed Sheeran who may not be publicly supporting the singer and friend Swift is doing everything to support her in the difficult times.

This behaviour of Sheeran sparked several comments from the Swift fans who lashed him for not outwardly siding with Swift.

The 28-year-old singer broke his silence on the conflict after Instagram commenters called him for not standing with Swift after she slammed Braun for buying her master recordings as part of his purchase of her former record label.

"Why aren`t you publicly showing your support of Taylor?" one asked. Wrote another: "So you, a songwriter and one of the most successful and influential musicians in the world, are just gonna stay silent on the fact that Taylor Swift, one of your friends or so we think, got robbed of 11 years of her own work."

Sheeran finally commented after one Instagram user defended him. "Just because he didn`t post anything it doesn`t mean he is not supporting her, maybe he`s talking with her right now, who knows," that user wrote.

"I have been speaking directly to her like I always do," the four-time Grammy winner wrote in response.

Swift opened up about the situation in a Tumblr post on Sunday, after Braun purchased Big Machine Label Group from Scott Borchetta, reportedly for more than $300 million.

The 'Me' singer had been signed to Big Machine from 2005 to 2018, and the sale means Braun owns her back catalog. In the post, Swift called the news her "worst case scenario," accusing Braun of being involved in his artists Kanye West and Justin Bieber "bullying" of her over West`s "Famous" song and music video in 2016.

"When I left my masters in Scott`s hands, I made peace with the fact that eventually, he would sell them," she wrote on Tumblr.

"Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter. Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words `Scooter Braun` escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to. He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn`t want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever," she concluded.

Bieber and Demi Lovato, another of Braun`s clients, also took to social media to defend the 38-year-old music manager, while Halsey, Cara Delevingne and Camila Cabello posted messages in support of Swift.

According to Billboard, the director said this in an interview with New Musical Express and as cited by Billboard.
Danny Boyle's first choice was Chris Martin over Ed Sheeran in 'Yesterday'

Imagine a world where The Beatles never existed? That is what British director Danny Boyle asks audiences to believe in his new movie 'Yesterday'.

The comedy, arriving in movie theatres next week, tells of struggling British musician Jack who wakes up after a traffic accident and finds himself in an alternate timeline where only he can remember the music of the 1960s band.

Boyle, who won an Oscar for the 2008 movie 'Slumdog Millionaire', said the band gave permission for their music to be used in the film despite it being a story where "they are literally erased from the consciousness of the world."

"I think they (The Beatles) must have loved the idea - how quirky the idea was. It appeals to their sense of humour I think," Boyle said on the red carpet in London on Tuesday.

"That is so typical of their sense of humour - and their bravery as well - because they are experimenters. So I think they like the fact that it`s a bit left field," he added. Boyle said Ringo Starr and the widow of George Harrison had seen the film and sent notes of support.

As for Paul McCartney, Boyle said: "I don`t think Paul has seen the movie, but he`s seen the trailer and he said `Oh that seems to work!`"

Boyle said he had also written to Yoko Ono, the widow of John Lennon.

The movie also features Grammy Award-winning British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, playing himself, as the person who helps Jack, played by British actor Himesh Patel, recreate some of the band`s most famous hits, sending his career soaring.

The movie, with a screenplay by 'Love Actually' writer Richard Curtis, also features Lily James, Kate McKinnon and James Corden.

'Yesterday' starts its global rollout on June 26.

Ed Sheeran's new album will feature Cardi B, Eminem, Travis Scott, and more

Turns out that singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran's latest song 'I Don't Care' with Justin Bieber was just the first track to release from Sheeran's elaborate collaborative album titled 'No. 6 Collaborations Project' which is all set to release on July 12.

After Sheeran and Bieber's hit duet, the 'Perfect' singer dropped another song 'Cross Me' featuring Chance the Rapper and singer PnB Rock.

Sheeran uploaded the official audio of the song on his YouTube channel. The song, with its catchy lyrics and upbeat tune, is sure to make way into playlists!

The track is produced by FRED and composed by Sheeran, Chancellor Bennett, Fred Gibson, and Rakim Hasheem Allen.

Adding to the excitement of his fans, Sheeran teased a song list which includes the name of all the upcoming tracks. However, he kept the collaborators` names under wraps, blacking them out.

The 28-year-old artist took to his Instagram account to share the track list.

"Before I was signed in 2011, I made an EP called No.5 Collaborations Project. Since then, I`ve always wanted to do another, so I started No.6 on my laptop when I was on tour last year. I`m a huge fan of all the artists I've collaborated with and it`s been a lot of fun to make. No.6 Collaborations Project will be out everywhere on 12 July. It`s available to pre-order from midnight tonight local time and my song with @chancetherapper and @pnbrock will be out everywhere at the same time," he captioned the post.

Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran share sneak peek from 'I Don't Care' video

Less than two months after telling fans he was stepping back from new music to deal with personal issues, Canadian pop star Justin Bieber gave them something to cheer about on Friday, releasing a new song with British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran.

Sheeran has co-written a song for Bieber before, but their new single 'I Don`t Care' was the first the two chart-toppers have released as a duet. Both singers, who each made news in the past year by getting married at secret weddings, had teased fans on social media this week about the track, in which they sing about feeling out of place at a party but finding support in someone close.

"Me and @justinbieber have got a new song out. It`s called `I Don`t Care` hope you like it," Sheeran wrote on his Instagram page, while Bieber simply tweeted: "It`s out. I don`t care".

In March, 25-year-old Bieber, a teenage heartthrob who shot to fame aged 15, told fans he was "focused on repairing some...deep rooted issues" and was putting new music on hold.

A month later, he surprised revellers at the Coachella music festival by joining singer Ariana Grande on stage for an unplanned performance of his hit single 'Sorry', after which he said a new album would come "soon".

Bieber`s last album came out in 2015. Last year he collaborated with DJ Khaled and others on single 'No Brainer'.
Sheeran`s last album 'Divide', released in 2017 and featuring hit singles 'Shape of You' and 'Perfect', topped charts around the world.

This 8th March, the day that is celebrated as International Women's Day, has celebrities from across the world joining hands for a unique, impactful video that attempts to create awareness for equality of women’s rights globally

The video has been created by The Circle, which is a global NGO formed by women and is for women, with the idea to help raise awareness of the lack of equal women’s rights in across walks of life. Established by Annie Lennox who heralded is a Scottish Grammy Award Winning singer in 2008, the NGO has put together a video where acclaimed artists of the world, including Indian actors like Farhan Akhtar and Richa Chadha along with international pop stars like Mary J Blige, Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran create awareness on women’s rights. Other artists who feature in the video include Hozier, Oscar-nominated actor Richard E Grant, 'Game Of Thrones' star Gwendoline Christie and Paloma Faith.

Speaking about it, Richa said, “I am so excited to be a part of this video. Last year a survey claimed that India is the worlds most unsafe place for women and I was really embarrassed. I was even more disturbed to read in another survey that 42% of women think that being beaten is ok. There needs to be a drastic shift in mindset if we are to progress in a genuine way as a country. To me, it’s empty progress if you have giant skyscrapers but I cannot go home from my office in the same skyscraper using public transport at 9 pm in the night without the fear of assault. And this is true for most parts of India. I am grateful that India finds representation in the video.”

Popular singer Ed Sheeran has expressed his displeasure towards Irish anti-abortion campaigners for using one his songs- Small Bump- without his consent.

The campaigners are allegedly using the song to promote their cause.
The lyrics of the song from his 2011 album '+' are: "You're just a small bump unborn / In four months you're brought to life.
"You might be left with my hair /But you'll have your mother's eyes / I'll hold your body in my hands, be as gentle as I can / But for now you're a scan of my unmade plans."
