The pandemic has entered the fourth year, affecting economic growth in most parts of the world. In its initial phase, Covid-19 also hurt India’s economy badly. Yet, guided by our able leadership and driven by our resilience, we soon came out of the downturn, and resumed the growth saga. Most sectors of the economy have shaken off the pandemic effect," President Murmu said.</p>

<p>Addressing the launch of India's own homegrown human spaceflight capability, President Murmu said that the country has reasons to be proud of its achievements in the domain of science and technology.</p>

The 'Gaganyaan' program to carry Indian astronauts into space is under progress. This will be India’s maiden human space flight. <p>Cryogenic engines are sophisticated machines that burn liquefied gases (supercooled into liquid form) as fuel and oxidizer. Cryogenic engines use liquid oxygen (stored at -183 degrees Centigrade) as an oxidizer and liquid hydrogen (stored at -253 degrees Centigrade) as fuel.</p>

<p>ISRO chief Somanath said that India can emerge as a superpower in rocket technology only with the help of HAL, which has shown the ability to absorb complicated space technology with perfection.</p>

<p>ISRO, therefore, is confident that the entire rocket manufacturing will happen at HAL’s facility, he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Referring to Bengaluru as the ‘Space City’, Chief Minister Bommai said the state contributed to most of the space and defence related manufacturing activities in the country and the Karnataka government will continue to support the development of science and technology projects in the state to realise the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’(self-reliant India) vision.</p>

<p>This 4500sq meter facility will cater to the entire cryogenic rocket engine manufacturing needs of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).</p>

<p>This facility has 70 high-tech equipment and testing apparatus for manufacturing CE20 Cryogenic engines and SE2000 cryogenic engines for Indian rockets.</p>

<p>The CE20 engines finds use in the final stage of the GSLV Mk3 rocket, while the SCE-2000 semi-cryogenic engine is meant to be used in the SC-120 rocket stage, which is being developed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to HAL, it was in 2013 that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with ISRO for establishing the facility for manufacturing of Cryogenic Engine modules at HAL, Aerospace Division.</p>

<p>The MOU for the Cryogenic Engine facility was subsequently amended in the year 2016 for setting up of Integrated Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing Facility (ICMF) with an investment of Rs.208 crores.</p>

<p>The aerospace firm added that the&nbsp;commissioning of all the critical equipment for the manufacturing and assembly requirement is completed. The pre-production activities which involve preparation of the process plans, drawings, quality plan etc. has also commenced. HAL will start realising the modules(engines) by March 2023&nbsp;</p>

<p>HAL Aerospace Division manufactures liquid propellant tanks and launch vehicle structures of Indian rockets PSLV, GSLV MK-II, GSLV Mk-III and also carries out stage integration for GSLV Mk-II.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Barely three days after Droupadi Murmu took oath as India’s 15th President, the tribal leader has found herself amid a controversy surrounding her constitutional designation. Reportedly, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, leader of India's opposition party, the Indian National Congress (INC), made a speech where he allegedly misgendered Murmu’s designation.</p>

<p>The INC leader allegedly called Murmu a ‘Rashtrapatni’, inviting the wrath of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It is pertinent to note that a President is called ‘Rashtrapati’ in Hindi which is a gender-neutral term. Anyone taking the office, whether a man, woman or any other person is referred to as the same.</p>

<p>The Constitution makes no difference in the gender of the occupant of the position either. However, Choudhary allegedly changed the last part of the word ‘pati’ meaning husband, to ‘patni’, meaning wife.</p>

<p><strong>Ruling party corners&nbsp;Chowdhury and INC</strong></p>

<p>As soon as the lower house of the parliament met on Thursday (July 28), senior BJP leader Smriti Irani raised the issue and cornered INC.</p>

<p>“A tribal woman from a poor family who created history is being continuously demeaned by the Congress,” she told the reporters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Irani further claimed that it was INC President Sonia Gandhi who&nbsp;sanctioned Chowdhury’s remark and that both should issue an apology for disrespecting the entire tribal community, women, the poor and the downtrodden.</p>

<p>“Sonia Gandhi sanctioned the humiliation of a woman at the highest constitutional office in the country,” said Irani.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Irani was backed up by her colleague and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who stated, “I demand an apology from the President of Congress party who herself is a woman but has allowed her leader to speak like that. Sonia Gandhi should come before the nation and apologise for insulting the President.”&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Chowdhury issues a clarification</strong></p>

<p>Soon, a clamour ensued and the house was adjourned for a brief period. After the controversy snowballed, Chowdhury took to Twitter to issue a clarification.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The INC leader tweeted a video where he could be heard saying, “Whoever is the President of India, be it Brahmin, or Adivasi, the President is the President for us. Our respect is for the post.”</p>

<p>He further added, “Yesterday when we were protesting at Vijay Chowk, reporters asked us where we wanted to go. I told them I want to visit the President’s house. Just once, I said “Rashtrapatni”...The reporter repeated it to me and I said I might have said that by mistake and it would be better if they didn’t broadcast it. They (BJP) are creating a furore because of this. I made a mistake, just once and in one word.”</p>

Murmu, former governor of Jharkhand and the second woman to become Indian president took the oath of office on Monday in the Indian Parliament. The ceremony was attended by Delhi's diplomatic community who were present in full force and later tweeted wishes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the neighbourhood, almost all countries were quick to extend their wishes. Bangladesh President Md. Abdul Hamid in his letter to the new Indian President said, "As the President of Bangladesh - one of the best-performing countries in women's empowerment in the region, it is heartening to see you taking up the responsibilities of this high office".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Recalling the "invaluable support by the Government and the people of India during our Liberation War in 1971" which he described as a "watershed moment in our relations", he pointed out that cooperation spans a range of areas, including trade, connectivity, water resources management, energy etc. He highlighted that "Bangladesh-India ties are anchored in shared history and culture, mutual trust and respect" and that he is "confident that the friendly bond and good cooperation".&nbsp;</p>

China also lost 4 of its soldiers, something it accepted after months of much scrutiny. Since then, friction points at the line of actual control in Ladakh remain even as China continues to violate 1990s pacts, a key element of which was not to amass troops at the border.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But the new Indian president revealed that the name Droupadi was given by her school teacher. During an interview with an Odia video magazine some time ago, she said that her Santhali name 'Puti' was changed to Droupadi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Droupadi was not my original name. It was given by my teacher who hailed from another district, not from my native Mayurbhanj," Murmu told the magazine.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the interview, she claimed that the teachers in the tribal-dominated Mayurbanjh district used to travel from either Balasore or Cuttack in the 1960s.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The teacher did not like my previous name and changed it for good," she said, further adding that her name was changed several times - from "Durpadi" to "Dorpdi".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Even before being elected as the country's president, Murmu had made her views clear on the reservation for women in politics.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"There must be reservation for women in politics dominated by men. The political parties can change this situation as they choose candidates and distribute tickets to contest elections," she told the magazine.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hailing from the Santhal tribe, Murmu secured the position with the support of more than half the electorate of MPs and state legislators.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dalai Lama congratulated the new President-elect Murmu with a lengthy letter. Parts of the letter read: “You are assuming this august position at a time when the international community is becoming ever more aware of the importance of India, which has much to contribute to the peace and development of the world.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I have a deep respect for India and, as the longest staying guest of the government of India. I have had the opportunity to travel the length and breadth of the country. For thousands of years, India has upheld the principles of ‘karuna’ and ‘ahimsa’ and Mahatma Gandhi made the principle of non-violence spread far and wide,” the letter added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba congratulated Murmu within hours of the formal announcement of the final results of the Presidential election.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After the conclusion of the vote-counting on Thursday, Droupadi Murmu, the NDA's presidential candidate, was officially declared as the India's 15th president. Yashwant Sinha received 1,877 votes with a value of 3,80,177, while Murmu received 2,824 votes with a value of 6,76,803. 4,809 MPs and MLAs participated in the voting that was conducted on July 18. President-elect Droupadi Murmu received the certificate at her residence in Delhi from PC Mody, Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha and Returning Officer for the 2022 Presidential Election.</p>

<p>At 64, she will also be the youngest and India's first president to be born after Independence. She will be sworn in on July 25.</p>

As per reports, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker has moved a Mumbai court against the filmmaker alleging he had passed 'uncharitable' remarks about the&nbsp;NDA Presidential nominee.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The complaint has been filed by the police,&nbsp;on request of&nbsp;Subhas Rajora, under sections 499 and 500 (defamation), 504 (intentionally insulting a person), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).</p>

<p>As per reports, the magistrate has adjourned the matter to October 11. The complainant’s lawyer D V Saroj shared the news on Saturday and the complaint was filed in suburban Bandra on Thursday, July 14.</p>

<p>The complainant has claimed that Varma made 'derogatory' statements through his official Twitter account against Droupadi Murmu and the posts&nbsp;outrage&nbsp;the respect of women. It further added that RGV's tweets are tantamount to disrespecting the backward and scheduled caste people.</p>

<p>Another case&nbsp;was registered against RGV at Hazratganj police station on Sunday.</p>

<p>In his tweet, Varma had written, "If Drapaudi is the President who are the Pandavas? And more importantly, who are the Kauravas?" The post didn't go down well with many, inviting major backlash online.</p>

The complaint has been filed by the police, on request of Subhas Rajora, under sections 499 and 500 (defamation), 504 (intentionally insulting a person), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complainant’s lawyer D V Saroj shared the news on Saturday and the complaint was filed in suburban Bandra on Thursday, July 14. The complainant has claimed that Varma made 'derogatory' statements through his official Twitter account against Droupadi Murmu and the posts outrage the respect of women. It further added that RGV's tweets are tantamount to disrespecting the backward and scheduled caste people. Another case was registered against RGV at Hazratganj police station on Sunday. <p>Murmu, a member of the Santhal ethnic group, was born on June 20, 1958, in the hamlet of Baidaposi in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. As per reports her father, Biranchi Narayan Tudu, and grandfather were the village headmen under the Panchayati Raj System.</p>

<p><strong>Teacher prior to entering politics</strong></p>

<p>She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Ramadevi Women's University in Bhubaneswar in 1979. She started as a teacher before entering State politics in 1997 as the councillor of Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat.She was appointed vice president of the BJP's Scheduled Tribes (ST) Morcha in the same year.</p>

<p>From 2000 to 2004, Murmu served as the State Minister in charge of the separate departments of fisheries, agriculture, and transportation. In 2007, she was honoured with the Nilkantha award for best MLA by the Odisha Legislative Assembly.</p>

<p>She served as the state president of the ST Morcha and the BJP district president in Mayurbhan throughout the course of the next ten years. She began serving a five-year tenure as Jharkhand's first tribal governor in 2015 and finished it in 2016.</p>

<p><strong>How she responded to the nomination</strong></p>

<p>Murmu was quoted as saying by PTI, "I am surprised as well as delighted. As a tribal woman from remote Mayurbhanj district, I had not thought about becoming the candidate for the top post. "</p>
